Beginner’s luck

The sound of tiles shuffling filled the air.

Maria focused on the tiles in her hand. She spent most of her time studying and making money before, so she had never had the chance to play this kind of game.

Freya sat next to her silently. However, her eyes were fixed on the tiles in Maria’s hand.

Just as Maria was about to win by self-draw, she hesitated and discarded a different tile.

Freya's eyes widened.

"Silly girl... That was a self-draw..."

Freya pressed her lips with a frown. But as she watched Maria continue to draw and discard five tiles in a row, her eyes suddenly widened.

It seemed that Maria was just waiting for a chance!

When Maria drew the eighth tile, she didn't even look at it. She slammed it on the table,

"Self-draw, all one suit, with honors."

Brenda looked at Maria’s tiles in disbelief. It really was all one suit!

The other two women were shocked. "Ria, you're so lucky. You won such a big hand on your first try!"

Maria modestly smiled, "It's luck."
