(Scott's POV)

"Daddy!" Liam ran toward me, his little arms outstretched, when he realized I was the one at the door. I had just finished my meeting with a client, and I couldn't wait to see him. The meeting had dragged on longer than I anticipated, but I rushed over the moment I could, with the added excuse of wanting to see Allison too.

"Where's your Mummy?" I asked as I scooped him up into my arms, feeling the warmth of his small body against mine. Before Liam could respond, Allison approached us.

"Liam, I thought I told you never to open the door on your own," she said, her tone firm yet caring. She definitely fit the role of a mother. Six years ago, with her cute and innocent demeanor, it would’ve been hard to believe she could take on such a responsibility. But damn, she nailed it.

"I'm sorry, Mummy," Liam quickly apologized. "You told me Daddy was coming, so that's why I opened the door when I heard the bell ring."

"Even so, Liam," Allison said softly but firmly, "Yo

(Allison's POV) I tried to pull away from the kiss, but I couldn’t because Scott held me firmly with his strength. His lips were rough against mine, filled with an intensity that felt more like punishment than passion. It was as though he was venting his frustrations on me, forcing his emotions into this unwelcome moment. Desperately needing to escape, I stomped hard on his toe. His grip faltered as he winced in pain, allowing me the opportunity to break free. Without hesitation, I added to his pain by slapping him squarely across the face. “How dare you kiss me unannounced?” I yelled, my voice trembling with anger. Scott stood still, his blue eyes burning with emotions I couldn’t decipher. He rubbed his jaw where my hand had struck him, but instead of lashing out, he stared at me with a mixture of hurt and defiance. “What’s your problem, Scott?” I continued, my voice rising in pitch as I momentarily forgot Liam was just in the living room and might overhear us. “What’s my prob

(Scott's POV) As I stepped into my mansion, a surge of happiness spread through me. No, it wasn’t just happiness—it was pure elation. Allison wasn’t engaged to Stefan. The relief that washed over me felt like a weight lifted from my chest, and for the first time in what seemed like forever, I felt like I could truly breathe again. Earlier, I’d lost control and kissed her, and even though it earned me a slap, I’d do it all over again without hesitation. Her lips… they felt just the same as they always had—warm, soft, and intoxicatingly sweet. I’d spent countless nights remembering those lips, wishing I could feel them against mine again. I missed her. I missed everything about her—the way she’d let me kiss her endlessly, the way she used to surrender to me completely, body and soul. I missed those quiet moments under the duvet when the world outside didn’t matter, when it was just the two of us, wrapped up in each other. Some nights, we’d cuddle and talk about our dreams; other n

(Scott's POV) "Mummy isn't breathing." Those words echoed endlessly in my ears as I drove at breakneck speed toward Allison's house. My heart pounded so loudly it felt as if it might burst out of my chest. Even with the car's air conditioning on full blast, my fear was so intense that I could feel the heat on my face. Allison had been perfectly fine when we spoke last night—no signs of illness, no complaints of feeling unwell. So what in the world could have happened? I pressed harder on the gas pedal, silently wishing I could grow wings and fly to her this instant. The memory of the last time Allison got sick flooded my mind; that was seven years ago, before our break up. She had been bedridden for two long, agonizing months, unable to speak or move much. It was the first time in my life I cried so miserably, thinking I might lose her. And now, with Liam's panicked call ringing in my ears, telling me she "isn't breathing," my eyes stung with unshed tears. I love her. I fucking

(Allison's POV) "Mummy," Liam hugged me tightly when I woke up, his small hands clutching me in a way that made it clear he was scared. Earlier, I had gone to the kitchen to make cereal but felt dizzy and fainted. Ever since I allowed Scott to be part of Liam's life, I’ve been constantly scared—scared that my family might find out the truth. Even though I don’t say it out loud, it consumes me. I badly want to tell them, but I don’t know where to begin. They resent Scott so much and don’t want him involved in Liam’s life. But it’s just too unfair to keep dragging an innocent child into a conflict he doesn’t even know about.. "Mummy, are you okay?" Liam asked, touching my face with his little hands. I nodded with a smile. "Mummy is fine. I’m sorry if I scared you." "I was so scared, Mummy. But now that you’re smiling at me, I’m not scared anymore." I smiled, caressing his hair, but then stopped midway when I realized I was in my room. I vividly remembered fainting in the kitche

(Allison's POV) I quickly crouched beside Liam, caressing his face with a made-up smile. "Your Daddy is busy, Liam, and he can't spend the night here. He has lots of documents to handle, and that's why he needs to go home," I said to him, but Liam shook his head in disapproval. "Are you saying his work is more important than us?" he asked, wearing that sad face that always tempts me to give in to whatever he said. I won’t blame him anyway; he got that attitude from me. But allowing Scott to spend the night here was not something I could allow. "Daddy, is your work more important than Mummy and me?" Liam asked, still maintaining the sad look on his face. Scott looked at me before turning back to Liam, trying to figure out how to respond. "You love your work more than us?" Liam asked again, his voice heavy with sadness. Scott crouched beside him, and I could feel his skin brush against mine since we were both crouching. I subtly shifted away from him. "Of course not, Liam. D

(Allison's POV) "Allison, when you called last night, we were unable to answer because Alex and I were busy attending to the customers at the restaurant. Before we could get back to you, it was late, so Alex and I decided to come over this morning to see if you're alright," Aunt Hilda said. She was trying to explain why she and Alex were unable to pick up when Liam called last night, but that wasn’t my problem right now. Scott was still sleeping in Liam’s room. What if he came out, unaware of my family’s visit? They’d be shocked, and the secret I’ve kept hidden would be revealed before I muster the courage to tell them. They might also think I’m back together with Scott, which isn’t true. "Sis, are you alright?" my brother asked, noticing my nervousness. "Yes… I am… fine," I stammered, forcing out a smile. "You don’t look like yourself this morning, Allison. Normally, you’d have welcomed us with open arms, but you’re not doing that. It’s as if you don’t want us to enter your ho

You said you have a class to go to," I said, forcing a smile. "That can wait, Sis. I need to check what fell down from Liam's room," Alex said. It was obvious he suspected I was hiding something, which is why he was so determined to enter Liam's room. "There's nothing there, Alex," I said, clinging to the door. But Alex pulled me aside and entered Liam's room, his eyes moving around as if searching for something or someone. My gaze darted to the wardrobe, but Scott wasn’t there. Where could he have hidden? Nevertheless, I used the opportunity to distract Alex. "I told you it was nothing. Why are you doubting me?" I asked. "Because you're not acting like yourself today, and it makes me suspicious," Alex responded, then quickly walked to the bathroom. He opened the door with full force, as if he was trying to find someone inside

(Scott's POV) As I crawled out of bed, I couldn't stop myself from laughing. At first, hiding from Allison's family wasn't something I wanted to do, but for Allison's sake, I decided to. Now, it felt kind of funny. Allison and I were like two teenage kids hiding our relationship from their parents. "What's so funny?" Allison asked, folding her arms across her chest. "Isn't it amusing how we're playing hide and seek with your family? We’re like two teenagers keeping our relationship a secret, and when we were almost caught, you made me hide to avoid being seen," I said, grinning. But Allison kept a straight face, which made me wonder if it wasn’t amusing to her. "You don't find it funny?" I asked, my grin slowly fading. "Give me one reason why I should find what you just said funny, Scott. My family completely trusts me, but I'm hiding a huge secret from them. They think we haven't seen or spoken to each other, but they don't know that we're on speaking terms and that I have given

(Scott's POV) Aunt Hilda's words kept replaying in my head over and over again, and the more they did, the guilt weighed heavier on me. Allison had almost lost her life because of me, and Liam had nearly lost his too—all because I wasn't there when he needed me the most. What kind of father am I? I cursed myself a thousand times. The least I could have done six years ago, after breaking up with Allison, was to secretly keep in touch with her. But instead, I abandoned her completely without even trying to find out how she was doing or where she had relocated. If I had, I would have known about Liam's condition and how desperately he needed a blood transfusion from his father. "I'm such a despicable person," I muttered, cursing myself again as I repeatedly banged the back of my head against the wall, letting my tears flow freely. They have every reason to hate me. I brought nothing but pain into their lives after all the promises I made. Allison—my precious Allie. It must ha

Anna's tiny voice lit up with excitement as her eyes glittered at the candy store."No, you can't, Anna," her mom replied as she waited for the traffic signal to turn green."But why not, Mummy?" Anna asked with a frown."Didn't you just visit the dentist last week? Your intake of sugary things is too much. You need to take a break from candies if you want to grow nice teeth, okay?" her mom smiled at her."Okay, Mummy," she said with a small frown before resting her head against the armrest of the car. But her brows furrowed in surprise when she saw Liam walking alone on the street."Liam? Why is he walking all alone?""Who is that, Anna?" her mom asked."He's my classmate from school," Anna replied, pointing in the direction where Liam was walking."Why is he walking alone on the street? Is he an orphan?""No, Mummy. Liam tells me a lot about his Mummy and a little bit about his Daddy," Anna answered. "Let's go to him, Mummy

(Allison's POV) “Mummy, is everything Aunt Hilda said true?” Liam asked again, his tears falling even more. My heart ached, and I didn’t know how I was going to tell him. Everything was happening too fast—my family finding out the truth to Stefan, and now Liam. I never wanted Liam to find out about any of this, but I couldn’t blame my aunt. She just had to pour out her emotions so Scott could understand why she hated him so much. “Liam...” I began, but Liam rushed back into the room before I could even say a word, and my heart broke even more. “Should I talk to him?” Aunt Hilda offered, stirred with guilt because Liam had found out what happened six years ago because of her. “No. I should be the one to talk to him,” I said, sniffling. “Should I come with you?” Stefan asked, and I shook my head. I went into the room and found Liam on the floor, his head buried in his thighs as he cried. He might only be five years old, but he is very sensitive, and little things hurt him. “Liam,

( Allison's POV) "Please, Allie... love me back again," he sniffed, tears streaming down his face as his arms wrapped around me. His tears soaked my blouse, and I could feel them on my skin. He was crying because of me. Scott was begging me to love him again. I felt my heart ache at his plea. I was almost tempted to hug him back, but I remembered that I still hadn’t gained forgiveness from my family for lying to them. I pushed him away and wiped my tears before he could see them. "Please leave, Scott, and stop making it difficult for me." Just as I finished speaking, Aunt Hilda entered the house, and my heart sank in fear upon seeing her. "What the heck are you doing here?!" she demanded loudly on seeing Scott. "Good afternoon, Aunt," Scott greeted, attempting to step closer to her. He stopped midway when Aunt Hilda took a step back, her eyes filled with hatred. "Keep your greetings to yourself and answer my question. What are you doing here?!" She shouted, her eyes narrowin

(Scott's POV) I stared hard at the house in front of me, contemplating whether I should step out of my car or not. I had inquired about Aunt Hilda’s address with the determination to speak with her, but now that I was here, I felt too scared to leave the safety of my car—too scared to face the anger in her eyes. But this was for Allison and Liam. I had come here to make things right. With that thought in mind, I got out of the car and walked toward the door. Pressing the doorbell, I waited. It rang, but no one came to open the door. "Aren’t they home?" I mumbled, pressing the doorbell again. This time, Liam opened the door. His eyes lit up with joy as soon as he saw me. "Daddy!" he exclaimed excitedly, running into my arms. I scooped him up and held him close. "How are you doing, Liam?" I asked. "I’m fine, Daddy," he replied, his joyful smile still lighting up his face. "That’s good to hear. Where’s your Mummy and Aunt Hilda?" I asked, wondering if he was home alone. "I haven’

(Writer's POV) Bonnie drove back home after leaving Liam in the care of Aunt Hilda. As she got out of the car, she saw Alex sitting on the doorstep of her house, his head bowed. He was the one who had called her earlier, which was why Bonnie had left Liam with Aunt Hilda to come and see him. She let out a deep sigh before calling his name. "Alex." Alex lifted his head, his eyes misty from the pain of Allison's betrayal. He had trusted his sister deeply, and it shattered him to know she was on speaking terms with Scott after everything she had been through. "Bonnie," he muttered. He stood up, and before Bonnie could say a word, he hugged her. She was startled at first, but understanding the state he was in, she let Alex hug her until his emotions settled. "Are you not going home?" Bonnie asked when they were inside her house. "Can I spend the night?" he asked. "Of course, you can. You're Allison's younger brother; it's my responsibility to look after you as a big sister," Bonnie

(Scott's POV)I stood there like a lifeless being, not even moving an inch from where I was standing. It was as if the earth had stopped moving, and I became stiff on the ground. Allison went after Stefan, caring less if I was here. She went after a man who wasn’t even her fiancé, caring less about how it was going to make me feel.It hurt so much. It ached my heart to see her running after another man. My heart was in so much pain, as if it was being pierced heartlessly with a sharp rod. I held my heart just to suppress the pain, but it stung even more, with my tears spilling down from my eyes, even though I had done my best to stop them from falling. Why can’t she see I regret what I did six years ago? I was just so desperate—desperate to have my own stand so I wouldn’t continue being a laughingstock in the eyes of my dad and his illegitimate family.I loved her then, and I still love her now. How should I make her realize that she is the only woman I have ever loved, and that I nev

"Thanks, Bonnie." "It's nothing. Were you able to talk to your family? What did they say?" Bonnie asked. Tears streamed down my face as I sank onto the sofa. "They refused to believe me, Bonnie. They threw me out, thinking I’m having an affair with Scott," I poured out my pain, and Bonnie quickly sat beside me. "You can’t blame them, Allison. You told them you weren’t on speaking terms with Scott, and suddenly they saw you with him. They have every reason to think that way. He’s not just anyone but the man you used to love—your first love." "But it’s all in the past now. They should’ve at least listened to me. I know I was wrong for lying to them, but I was only doing what any mother would do. I granted my son’s wish to have a father. I just wanted Liam to be happy," I said, sniffing. I didn’t bla

(Allison's POV) I wished this was just my imagination. I wished it was merely a hallucination that my family had seen me hugging Scott, but it wasn’t imagination, nor was I hallucinating. “What’s going on here?” Aunt Hilda asked, trying hard not to believe what she had just witnessed. I quickly rushed to her. “Aunt Hilda, I can explain—” My words were cut short by a slap from her, while Alex rushed to Scott and, with fury in his eyes, punched him in the face. Liam, who had seen it all, quickly got down from the mini car he had been playing with. “Aunt Hilda, why did you slap my Mummy? Uncle Alex, why did you slap my Daddy?” Liam asked, unaware that he was only adding fuel to the fire. Aunt Hilda and Alex gave me a disappointing look after Liam called Scott his Daddy. My heart ached as they stared at me. “Aunt—” I began, tears streaming down my face, but Aunt Hilda cut me off. “I don’t want to hear anything, Allison!” she yelled. I could see the tears threatening to spill from
