(Allison's POV)
"Is he your ex, the one you told me about?" Stefan asked as he drove me to Aunt Hilda's house. Aunt Hilda was the one who picked up Liam from school, so he was at her place. "Allison?" He called my name when I didn't respond. I slowly looked at him and nodded. Though I had once told Stefan about Scott and how he had shattered me, this was the first time they've met. I met Stefan when I was still in New York, and he has been a wonderful friend to me. He is an author of children's books and loves children a lot. We became friends after Liam, who was two years old at the time, became captivated by his book. Liam didn't know how to read, but as long as there were lots of pictures, he'd love it. I still remember how Liam cried, saying he wanted to take one of Stefan's storybooks home, and Stefan offered it to him. He has always been kind and loves Liam like his own son. "Is he giving you a hard time?" Stefan asked, his eyes fixed on me. I shook my head again, resting my head properly on the headrest of his car. "I guess he’s always the reason for that sad look on your face," Stefan said. "You had that same expression when you told me about him." "Stefan, can we please stop talking about Scott?" I pleaded, my eyes begging. I didn’t want to hear his name. Stefan was right—Scott always brought sadness to my face. He used to be my source of joy, but now, he only reminded me of pain. "I'm sorry, Allison," Stefan apologized. "You don't have to apologize, Stefan." Stefan smiled and continued driving. We got to Aunt Hilda's house, and Liam jumped on me immediately. "Mummy!" he said, hugging me tightly. "I'm sorry, Mummy couldn't pick you up from school. Work was hectic," I said, making a cute face, and he laughed. "It's fine, Mummy. I had fun with Aunt Hilda. She prepared my favorite food, and we watched SpongeBob together," Liam said excitedly. SpongeBob has always been his favorite TV series; he can watch it for days. "Thanks, Aunt, for taking care of my son." "Don't thank me, Allison. Liam is my grandson; it's my responsibility to look after him while you're at work," Aunt Hilda said, and I smiled. When I suggested having a nanny for Liam, she was against it, saying she could take care of him while I was busy at work. Stefan stepped inside after parking his car. "Uncle Stefan!" Liam said, rushing to him. Stefan, on the other hand, welcomed him into his arms with a smile before scooping him up. "How are you, Liam?" he asked. "I'm fine. This isn't New York," Liam said, and Stefan ruffled his head with a smile. He was always fond of doing that. "I have something to do in California, that's why I'm here." "Does that mean you brought lots of storybooks for me?" Liam asked, and Stefan chuckled while I stood watching them. Since Liam didn't have a father—or should I say, since I deprived him of having a father—he was always so excited to meet Stefan. Though I knew deep down, he wanted his own biological father, sadly, I couldn't give him that. "Yes, Liam. It'd be a crime on my part to come to California without bringing lots of storybooks for you. I wrote a new storybook recently, and you'd be the first to see it." "Yay! When am I going to have it?" Liam asked excitedly, as if he were a pro at reading. But I don't blame him. He inherited his love for chocolates and storybooks from Scott. Scott is a chocolate lover, and he would spend all day reading a book. Sometimes I would get mad at him when he dedicated his entire attention to a book, and he would always beg me, saying he had just one chapter left. "Allison, heat up the food, so we can all eat before you leave," Aunt Hilda's voice snapped me out of my thoughts. It's crazy how everything reminds me of Scott. It wasn't like this for four years, but maybe it's because I met him again, and we share some good memories together. "Okay, Aunt," I answered, heading for the kitchen. I could hear Aunt Hilda asking about Stefan's well-being. It was so obvious she loved Stefan and wanted something more than just friendship to happen between us. Dinner was set, and we all sat at the dining table to eat. Stefan, who is always fond of complimenting others, didn't hesitate to compliment Aunt Hilda's cooking. After dinner, Stefan drove us home because my car was still where I left it earlier. Liam was already asleep before we got home, so with Stefan's help, we laid him on the bed. "Thanks, Stefan." "It's nothing, Allison. Nice apartment you got here," he said with a smile. I returned the smile, and we both sat on the sofa in the living room. "How many days will you be here?" I asked. "Why? You want me to leave quickly?" Stefan teased. I frowned, and it made him laugh. "I don't know yet. It depends on how long the conference meeting lasts... maybe a week or more. I don't know yet," he explained, and I nodded. My mind shifted to how I had introduced him as my fiancé in front of Scott, and I sighed. "Stefan, about..." "You introducing me as your fiancé in front of your ex," Stefan interrupted me, and I nodded, guilt on my face. "I'm sorry, Stefan. I shouldn't have done that. It's just that -- I lied to him, saying I was engaged, and you were the only one available to make him believe that I am really engaged." Stefan smiled and brushed my nose playfully. "It's fine, Allison. I clearly understand why you did that, and that's why I decided to play along." "I'm sorry," I apologized again, and he chuckled. "I already said it's fine," I exhaled deeply, grateful that he understood me. Stefan has always been like that, doing his best to understand me. "So now that you're in California, are you staying in a hotel?" I asked, trying to shift the conversation to another topic. "Yes, unless you want me to stay here," he teased. "Stefan!" I called his name, laughing. He always likes teasing me, and I would be a liar if I said I don't enjoy it. I could see him smiling too. "How about your car?" "I'll have it fixed tomorrow. Thanks for driving me home. You showed up at the right time," I said, and Stefan only smiled. "Now I'm curious—how did you know I was stranded there? Did you, by chance, insert a tracker on me?" I asked, teasing him back, and he laughed briefly. It was always so nice and entertaining talking to Stefan. "No, I didn't," he replied, and I furrowed my eyebrows, waiting for an answer. "I called Bonnie, and she was the one who told me where to find you. It was hard locating you, but I did my best." "You should've called me instead. It must've been tiring." "I wanted to surprise you. Besides, when it comes to you, nothing feels like too much effort. You know I love you, right?" Stefan asked, his eyes sincere. "Would you like to watch a movie?" I asked, avoiding his question, as I normally do. Stefan, as usual, nodded with a smile, not pushing further. I felt bad about it, but I just wasn’t ready to love again. The last time I opened my heart, it was shattered into pieces. "Just know I’m willing to wait for you, no matter how long it takes," he said softly, smiling at me.(Scott's POV) "He's my fiancé." Those words echoed in my mind, relentless and maddening. I slammed my fist against the wall of my office, feeling the sting in my knuckles. The punch should have gone to Stefan’s face, for daring to touch what was once mine, but I had to hold myself back. I had no right to act out, and Allison would only be more upset with me, pushing me further away from the woman I still loved, and I wasn’t ready to lose her completely. When she told me she was engaged, I felt a deep pang of doubt and disbelief. But now, seeing her fiancé for the first time, that doubt had turned into a rage so powerful it consumed me. I had always been a jealous lover, and Allison knew this well. Six years ago, I had tried to protect her from every other man who dared to look her way. Her beauty had always attracted attention, and I wasn’t about to let anyone else get close to her. She always avoided their advances out of love for me. I wasn’t a toxic boyfriend, though. I just lov
(Scott's POV) Jenna? What in the world was she doing in my house? How did she even get in? The last time I saw her, was after cheated on me and moved in with another man in London. "Nice house you’ve got here, Scott," Jenna said, her voice dripping with feigned sweetness as she stood up from the couch and walked toward me. "I should've known you'd be successful one day. A mansion, a company—I'm sorry I ever doubted you." She reached out to touch me, but I immediately stepped back, brushing her hand off with a sharp motion. "How did you get in here?" I asked, my voice edged with anger. Jenna smiled, unfazed by my tone. "The maids let me in... I told them I was your girlfriend, and they let me in," she said, flashing a smile at me, trying to act all sweet. "Girlfriend?" I repeated, incredulous. "Have you lost your mind?" "No," she replied, her expression softening. "I know I messed up by cheating on you. But now, I realize my mistake. You're a good man, Scott, and I shouldn't hav
(Allison's POV) I slowly turned to look at Scott after he said he had a reason for breaking up with me six years ago. Curiosity and confusion were etched on my face as I stared at him, waiting for him to explain. “What was your reason for breaking up with me?” I asked, my voice trembling slightly as he remained silent, just staring at me. Scott exhaled deeply, like he was preparing himself before speaking to me. “I had to move to London,” he said, his voice barely above a whisper. “My father... he promised to sponsor my dreams if I leave.” “So you asked me to abort Liam just because you wanted to go to London?” I asked, struggling to make sense of his words. “Allie, I—” He took a step forward, but stopped when I instinctively took a step back. “I just asked a question, Scott, and I need an answer,” I said firmly, but there was a weight in my chest that made my words crack. “I was so confused back then, Allie. I know I never told you about my family, but I wasn’t accepted by my
(Allison's POV) "Have some water, Allison?" Stefan offered me a glass of water, his voice gentle. I smiled faintly, accepting it from him. He sat beside me, his eyes filled with concern as I sipped the water slowly. "Why were you crying earlier?" he asked softly after I emptied the glass, his tone a mix of curiosity and worry. I sighed, staring down at the empty glass. "It's nothing, Stefan." "No one cries for no reason, Allison. We're friends—you don't have to hide anything from me," Stefan said, his voice steady, filled with reassurance. His eyes held a sincerity that melted some of the walls I had built. He was patient, ready to listen, no matter how long it took. I exhaled deeply. He was right. I had already drenched his shirt with my tears earlier; it felt unfair to keep my pain hidden. "It was Scott," I whispered, my voice barely audible. "Your ex?" His jaw clenched. "What did he do to you this time?" There was a simmering rage beneath his calm demeanor. "Nothing," I said
(Allison's POV) It’s been a week since I last saw Scott. After I left his company that day, I haven’t seen him again, and I thought he had decided to take my words to heart. But why do I still wish he was following me around like he did in the past couple of days? “What would you like to eat?” Stefan’s voice pulled me out of my thoughts. He invited me out to dinner, and I couldn’t say no. I smiled at him before picking up the menu on the table. “I’d love to have steaks.” Stefan called the waitress over, and we placed our orders. “Are you okay?” Stefan asked, and I slowly turned to look at him. “Why do you ask?” I said in a low voice, answering his question with a question. “You look absentminded, Allison. You’re here, but I feel like you’re not. And beside that, you’ve been staring at those couple at the far end,” Stefan said. I glance at the young couple at the far end of the restaurant. They’re laughing softly, hands entwined, lost in the magic of a first date. It reminds m
(Scott's POV) I immediately pushed Jenna away from me after she kissed me. How dare she do that in front of Allison? I quickly turned to Allison to see her expression, but I couldn't tell if she was jealous or not. However, I could see her holding the edge of the chair as if she had just lost her balance. I rushed toward her, closing the distance between us. "Allie, it’s not what you think," I said, desperate to explain, but Allison simply gave me a smile that made my chest ache. Deep down, I wanted her to be jealous—just to feel like she still cared, even a little. "You don't have to explain yourself to me, Scott," Allison said, pausing to smile at Jenna. "You must be his girlfriend. Nice meeting you," Allison said. Her words cut through me like a blade. Six years ago, when I introduced Jenna to her as my girlfriend, I saw the pain in her eyes. But now, she was smiling casually at Jenna, as if it no longer mattered. I studied her expression, searching for a hint of jealousy, but
(Allison's POV) I swallowed hard, staring at Scott. Was he really going to kiss me in front of everyone, or was this just another way to force me to talk to him? My pulse quickened as his eyes locked on mine. "Should I kiss you instead, since you don’t want to talk to me?" Scott’s voice was smooth but insistent, and I swallowed hard again. The countless times we had kissed flashed through my mind, sending shivers down my spine. Scott was a good kisser, no doubt about it. Back then, he’d kiss me for what felt like hours, his lips never growing tired, and his body always pressing against mine, making me feel every inch of him in the most intoxicating way. Stefan stepped in and took my hand away from Scott’s, snapping me back to reality. "Don’t you have any shame? You’ll kiss her in front of her fiancé?" Stefan’s voice was cold, but I could sense the protective edge behind it. Part of me wondered if he enjoyed playing the role of my fiancé a little too much when Scott was around.
(Scott's POV) Seated at the dining table with a box of chocolates in front of me, I couldn't stop grinning as I stared at Allison's message on my phone. She texted me back, warning me not to care about her, but I found it strangely endearing. I wanted to respond, but I didn't want to risk her blocking me, so I just kept my gaze fixed on her message, smiling like a lovestruck teenage boy who had just received a reply from his crush. Allison had told me she'd give me a chance to be a father to Liam, and I was more than happy about it. If I get closer to Liam, it would bring me even closer to Allison. I was determined to show her how sincere I was about having her back in my life. I didn’t care about Stefan. The very thought of him made my blood boil. I smiled again, looking at Allison's text. To a normal person, her reply might seem rude, but to me, it felt like a compliment. Maybe I was crazy—crazy in love with my Allie. I loved her before, and now, I loved her even more. "Sir, her
(Allison's POV) I woke up the following morning with a pounding headache. I had cried myself to sleep. I was extremely hurt by what Scott had said to me. I wished he hadn't told me, but then again, it was better hearing it from him than from Jenna. If Jenna had been the one to tell me, it would have felt like she had won. I wanted to hate Scott for what he did, but I couldn't bring myself to do so. Although he might have ended our relationship when he had sex with Jenna, why on earth did it have to be on the same day he shattered my heart? It hurt so much. I didn’t want to create memories of Scott’s night with Jenna, but the images kept forming in my head—how he had kissed her, how his hands had roamed over her, and worst of all, how he had given himself to her. Fuck! I shouldn’t be imagining these things because they would only hurt me more, but I couldn’t help myself. "Mummy!" Liam's voice snapped me out of my thoughts. He was already dressed for school—a reminder that I hadn’
(Writer's POV) "Why the heck did you do that, Scott?!" Jenna shouted, shocked that Scott had punched his own father. "There’s no rule that says I can't punch my own father when he misbehaves," Scott said, burning with anger. Gwen and Jason rushed out of the house after hearing Jenna's voice. The moment Scott saw Jason, he charged at him and threw a punch. "What the heck is wrong with you?! Why did you hit my son?!" Gwen shouted, slapping Scott's chest. Hugo emerged from the pool, his clothes dripping with water. "Scott!!!" he bellowed. Scott turned to face him, his eyes burning with rage. "Have you lost your mind?! How dare you punch me?!" Hugo roared. "You’re the one who's lost his mind, Hugo!" Scott shot back, calling him by his name. "What gave you the right to approach Allison and threaten her?! Who the hell do you think you are?!" he shouted. "As if that wasn't enough, Jason dared to attack her. How dare you?!" He snarled and threw another punch at Jason, but th
(Writer's POV) "Good night, ma'am," Allison's new secretary said to her as she was about to enter her car. Allison had spent most of the day making new designs for sale, but if she were honest, she had spent the entire day working on those designs to avoid thinking too much about Hugo's threats. "You too, Lillian," she beamed at her secretary before getting into her car. She had brought her car to her clothing line, as her plan was to go to the grocery store to pick up a few things for Stefan. She hadn’t visited him as she promised because she was too preoccupied with Scott's dad’s threat. "Don’t dwell on it, Allison. He wouldn’t be able to hurt you. It’s just a threat," she exhaled deeply. Allison continued driving until she noticed a car behind her. She cleared the way for the car to pass, thinking she might be blocking its path, but the car drove past her and stopped in front of her at full speed. Allison screamed loudly as she slammed on the car brakes. If she hadn't been wea
(Writer's POV) Bonnie sighed for the umpteenth time as she called Peter, but he kept ghosting her calls. "What's going on?" she muttered to herself. She sent him a text message, but he neither viewed nor replied to it. "What's going on, Bonnie?" her mom asked as she entered her room. "You didn't touch your food. Why?" "I'm going to eat it later," Bonnie replied with a sigh. "You're going to eat later?" Her mom furrowed her eyebrows. "It's not like you to ditch my cooking, Bonnie. And come to think of it, you've been on your phone all day. Don't tell me you're trying to make up with Allison? I don't like you being friends with that woman!" "Mom, can you please just stop! I'm not trying to make up with Allison. I still hate her for what she said, if that's what you want to hear," Bonnie hissed and stood up from the bed. "Where are you going?" "I'm stepping out for a bit." "You can't do that, Bonnie. You haven't eaten all day," her mom complained. "Where I'm going is
(Allison's POV) "Good morning, sir," I quickly greeted after he introduced himself as Scott's father. This was the first time I was meeting a member of his family face-to-face. "And what's so good about the morning?" he asked. "Huh?" I raised my eyebrows, wondering why he was speaking to me in such a tone. "You and Scott broke up six years ago, right? What's your relationship with him like now?" he asked. "Well, I—" "I don't want to hear it," he cut me off with a hateful glare. Why does he hate me when he's just meeting me again for the first time? But then I remembered his relationship with Scott. If such a man could hate his own son, why would he like anyone outside his family? He was no different from what Scott had said about him. "I'm not here to have a conversation with you, Allison McCall. I'm going to get straight to the point. Stay away from Scott," he declared. Is this some kind of movie where the female lead is hated by the male lead's family? "You're not fit to b
(Allison's POV) "Allison!" Clara quickly hugged me when I arrived home. I hugged her back, my eyes scanning around for Scott. "How are you doing, Clara?" I asked, forcing out a smile. "I'm fine, Allison, though my uncle keeps insisting I’m not. It's just a bruise—I'm totally fine," she said. "He's just worried about you, that's all." "Yeah, I know. Is it fine if I stay here and go to school?" "Of course, it’s fine with me. It’s your uncle’s house—you can do whatever you want." "Thanks, Allison! You're just as sweet as your cooking," she grinned, and I nodded. "Where's Scott?" I asked, wondering why I hadn’t seen him since I arrived. "He took Liam to school," she replied, and I sighed. I had almost forgotten Liam needed to go to school. "Why didn’t you come home last night, Allison? My uncle was worried about you," she pouted. "Something came up, that’s all. How did Scott take it?" I asked curiously. "I don’t know. He didn’t say much about it, but I could tell h
(Allison's POV) I waited patiently at the doorstep for Stefan to open the door. The receptionist had called him, and he had told her he knew me, which was why she gave me his room number. "Stefan," I knocked on the door when he was taking too long to open it. I stood there for three minutes before he finally answered. He was sitting in a wheelchair. "Stefan," I muttered his name. "Why are you here? Why can't you leave me alone? Haven't you hurt me enough?" he asked. "I'm sorry for what I did," I apologized sincerely. "Your apologies won't mend my broken heart," he sniffled. "I know that, and that's why I'm here—to at least try to fix it. I want to make up for hurting you by being here for you. I want to take care of you until you get better," I said. "Does Scott know you're here?" he asked. I knitted my eyebrows, wondering why he cared, but I still answered his question. "No, he doesn't." "Why didn't you tell him?" he asked again. "I chose not to because I want
(Allison's POV) "Why would you want me to date you, Stefan?" I asked, surprise written all over my face. "Why are you so surprised, Allison? I thought you said you would do anything?" he asked in return. "Yes. Anything, but not date you, Stefan," I replied, my voice strained. "Why can't you date me, Allison? Am I that hard for you to love?" "It's not like that, Stefan. I..." "That's enough, Allison," he cut me short. "I don't want to hear another word from you. Leave," he said, pointing at the door. "I can't leave you in this state. I can't date you, but you're still my friend. Let me help you until you're able to walk again." "I don't need your pity, Allison. Just leave me alone. Leave, Allison! I don't want to see you!" he screamed, throwing tantrums like a child. His voice attracted the doctor and nurses, and they all rushed in. "What's wrong, Mr. Stefan?" the doctor asked while I wiped away the tears threatening to fall. I didn’t like the situation between Stefan and me
(Allison's POV) I sat down in the hospital hallway, crying silently, my blouse stained with Stefan's blood. The only thought running through my head was to blame myself for what had happened to Stefan. It's all my fault. I should have told him beforehand. If I had, he wouldn't have been so shocked and hurt to see Scott and me kissing each other. I always tend to regret things after they happen. I had so many chances to tell the truth about my feelings for Scott, but I didn't. I held it in, and he got into an accident because of me. It's all my fault, I lamented to myself as I allowed my tears to flow freely. "Allie!" Scott called my name, rushing in with my Aunt Hilda and Alex. I rushed into his arms, and for a moment, I felt that the blame I had placed on myself was lifted after Scott welcomed me into his embrace. I just love him so much; that's why I found comfort in his hug. "What happened, Allison?" my aunt demanded, and I broke the hug to look at her. Both she and Alex
