Jessica moved her gaze from one corner of the room to another, looking for a lie to tell but none was coming to mind. "By chance, were you already in the kitchen?" He asked again, hinting at some perfect lie for her. "Uhmm…yeah. I-I had gone to the kitchen!" She lied in stutters, thinking she was safe now. "Does that mean breakfast is ready?" He asked curiously and Jessica's heart stopped beating briefly and continued after she let out a sigh. "Not…yet. I-I…I just woke up. I forgot something, that's why I came." She lied again and it seemed like Cade finally fell for it. "Are you on your way back now? I would love to help you." He suggested and after much hesitation, she agreed, and instead of going into her room, she decided to head to the Kitchen with Cade. They decided to prepare some omelets with cheese and fresh milk. Jessica felt relieved as she thought Cade's suspicions were over but little did she know that more questions were yet to come as Cruz noticed something else
Cruz was perplexed by Cade's declaration as he'd never thought Cade would have an idea about his plan. He was the last person he'd ever wish to know of this so he decided to keep up the act rather than accepting it. "W-what...are you talking about?" He asked in stutters. "At first, I thought you both finally decided to put your differences aside and become friends for my sake but after seeing you kissing and caressing her on countless occasions without her disapproval, I realized the game you were playing with her." Cade huffed as he stood up and paced about the room. "You've got a countless number of ladies, why can't you make an exception for her! If you don't know this before, then let me make it clear to you! Miss Jessica Vegas is mine! You can have every other woman but not her. I thought I'd ask nicely but with your pretense, I realize reasoning with you would be just a total waste of time. Quit your game and stay away from her!" He threatened and attempted to walk out on hi
"Good morning!" Cruz greeted, finally dropping his gaze. "Morning, how…" "Brother, don't you know we're studying? You will make me confused!" Cade complained, purposely interrupting Jessica. "That's why you should just concentrate on studying rather than gossiping," Cruz complained, rolling his eyes at him. "Why are you here anyway?" Cade asked. "I just wanted to let you know I'm going to wor…" "Okay! Just leave already!" Cade yelled and Jessica could tell something was wrong between the two of them. Cruz hesitated before leaving as he feared Cade might tell Jessica all about his plans and therefore make him lose the bet but it's not like there was anything he could do about it. "Did you both have another argument?" Jessica asked once Cruz was out of sight. "Of course not. I just told him a bitter truth but he refused to agree with me. I don't have any problem with him except he thinks otherwise." Cade explained and even though Jessica didn't understand what he meant,
"Jessica…I can explain." Cruz stuttered, racking his brain for the most convenient lie to tell. "Cade is just…(he paused and rolled his eyes at Cade)... being childish and…" "What are you talking about?" Jessica interrupted, confused by Cruz's confusing explanation. "Uhmm…" Cade hissed and stepped out of the room with his books. "I thought you…why will you stop coming to our house?" He asked as it dawned on him that Cade might not have told her anything. "That's because we happened to finish our classes earlier than expected. Cade is doing perfectly well now and he requested that he'd want to spend the rest of the week revising what he'd learn and I felt it was a good idea. I didn't want to insist on coming before he'd become suspicious again but what were you talking about?" She asked after explaining herself to him. 'I got worked up for nothing!' He released a sigh of relief before thinking of what to say to end the conversation. "Actually…he told me about his plans." He
Jessica moved her blurry gaze around the dining table in search of a response. "And so? Can't I do that much? Or are you going to tell me what and what not to do now?" She flared up, her face contorted with rage. "Jessica, can we just talk like two adults without you flaring up? It's not like anyone can control this but the fact that you kept moaning Cruz's name only meant you've been thinking about him. It's worrisome. This guy is getting into your head and I can swear he's just using you. I know Cruz and…" "You know what? I'm done pretending. Yes! Cruz and I are in a relationship. I never imagined it but it somehow happened. But you know what? He's never asked me for s*x nor has he ever tried taking advantage of me for the few weeks I spent with him." She declared openly, at this point, unconcerned about what Leah thinks of her. "You keep going on and on about how much you know Cruz just because of how he lives his social life, but have you ever lived with him? NO! So why judge
Cade remained mute as he tried to gather his thoughts and be sure he hadn't misunderstood her. "I don't know what is going on in your head but, I'm not in any relationship with your brother. Didn't I tell you that before? Why do you always have to doubt me? If you don't like me being in your house or around your brother then that's fine by me but stop talking down on me and stop your endless suspicions!" She yelled at him, making him feel guilty as he was beginning to think his suspicions were wrong. Jessica merged her palms in front of her face, "Your exams are coming right after the weekend, Please! Concentrate on that!" She begged before finally marching out of the room and the house as a whole with so much satisfaction in her ability to turn Cade against himself. As she hopped into the taxi she had ordered, she brought out her phone and put a video call through to Cruz. "I just met with your brother!" She reported to Cruz who was in his surgical clothes as he answered her c
Early the next morning, Jessica decided to wake up early and prepare something for them to eat. As soon as Leah came downstairs, Jessica quickly invited her to the dining table and served her a big bowl of lamb shanks. Leah ate the food slowly even though she felt there was something strange about the nice treatment she was receiving from Jessica and immediately after she finished the meal, Jessica decided to help her reveal the reason for the nice treatment. "This is a peace offering from me to you. Please! Don't tell Tyler about Cruz and I. I don't want him to ruin things for us." Jessica pleaded before walking out of her. Upon getting to her room, she met her phone ringing and the caller turned out to be Cade. She allowed the call to end and then she went through her call history to see that he'd been calling all morning. "I will have to ignore you until we're back from our trip or else you might catch up with my lies again!" Jessica mumbled as she dropped down her phone a
A familiar ringing tone rang disrupting their conversation briefly. "I hope you understand now. Have a nice weekend. And just so you know, I had no fever." Cade said, looking at the direction of the door where Jessica was standing with bloodshot eyes. Cruz and his friends also traced the sound of the ringing phone towards the door and Cruz's knee went weak as he saw Jessica shooting daggers at him with her eyes. "F*ck!" Cruz exclaimed with clenched teeth and fist. "Game Over!" Daniel chuckled before slumping into the couch. "Guess I'm riding a Ferrari outta here!" He added, still chuckling. "Daniel! Can you just be serious for once in your life?" Micheal asked with crinkled nose and curled lips. "What? Should I sympathize with her? She was going to find out sooner or later. Cruz is the only unlucky one here because he didn't get to shoot his shot after putting on an act for so long, he is the one we are supposed to sympathize with." Daniel made his point known and the sat
