Olivia finally found a taxi, and she entered the back seat, telling the taxi driver her destination, “To the Emerson estate.”
The taxi driver replied, “Okay.”
He started the car and drove ahead, as Olivia was the only one seated in the cab, arriving at the entrance gate of the Emerson Housing Estate.
The taxi stopped, and Olivia paid for her ride before she alighted and rushed through the estate gate, running home speedily.
The estate security guards stared at Olivia and wondered what was chasing her, as they knew her well.
One of the estate guards said, “She's a gorgeous young lady, often running about on errands since her parents passed.”
The others remained silent and continued with their jobs, as there were four security men present.
Olivia finally arrived home in front of her late father's mansion gate, banging heavily on the gate and calling out to Nathan.
Nathaniel quickly approached the gate from within, pulled it open, and asked, “Why are you banging on the gate like that?"
Olivia smiled faintly at Nathan and apologized, “I’m sorry, sir. Please open the gate quickly.”
Olivia rushed into the compound and made her way toward the mansion entrance after Nathan pulled the small gate open for her.
She was nervous as she knocked on the door of the white mansion. Pulling the doorknob open, she walked into the living room and saw Mia still seated on the couch, watching television.
Mia looked at Olivia as she stepped into the living room. Olivia's big brown eyes quickly darted to the living room wall clock, and she gasped as she saw that the time was already 8:30 PM.
Olivia hurried into the kitchen and started preparing their dinner since she knew her stepmother would soon come downstairs to inquire if she had finished cooking.
She didn't want her stepmother to flog her mercilessly for wasting so much time at the market and not arriving home on time.
Olivia quickly took out all the ingredients for the vegetable soup that she had bought from the local market nearby. She washed the green vegetables quickly and chopped them into smaller pieces.
She unhooked the dried stockfish from the rubber band and soaked it in a bowl of water.
Thereafter, she quickly cut the meat into smaller pieces and washed it neatly while switching on the gas cooker and placing her empty pot on it. She started cooking the meat first.
With every second that ticked away on the clock, Olivia was sweaty all over as she hurriedly prepared the vegetable soup.
She jumped nervously when she heard the kitchen door slide open.
Mia walked into the kitchen and asked, “What took you so long to arrive home? I’m hungry.”
Olivia sighed in relief as Mia approached her and watched while Olivia stirred the big pot of soup with a large spoon, tasting it to see if she needed to add more salt or a bit of pepper.
Olivia directed her stirring spoon toward Mia’s right hand and said, “Please taste the soup first to see if it's okay, or if I should add a little more salt?”
Mia opened her right palm, and Olivia dropped a few drops of soup from the big spoon onto Mia's hand. Mia tasted it and declared that the vegetable soup was delicious.
Mia licked her right palm but frowned, as she wanted her mother to discipline Olivia for making her hungry.
She told Olivia, “Add more salt. It lacks flavor.”
Olivia frowned, her brows furrowing at Mia.
She stirred the soup and tasted it again on her palm. “But the soup is fine like this.”
Mia frowned, picked up the salt container, and poured more salt into the soup.
Olivia exclaimed, “Mia!"
Just then, the kitchen door pushed open, and Mrs. Gina walked in wearing her long white nightgown.
Olivia quickly shut the pot of soup and removed it from the gas cooker, as she hadn’t yet prepared the semolina they would use to eat the vegetable soup.
Mrs. Gina asked, “What’s going on here? It’s already after 9 PM, and you’re still cooking? Why?”
Olivia quickly replied, “Nothing, ma. I'm almost done with the semolina.”
She poured water into a new pot to prepare the semolina quickly, and Mrs. Gina shifted her gaze toward Mia and asked, “And what are you doing standing here?”
Mia muttered, “Mom, I’m hungry.”
Mia frowned and stomped her feet as she walked over to her mother.
Mrs. Gina said, “Go sit down at the dining table first, Mia. The soup will soon be ready.”
Mia frowned and walked toward the kitchen door, shouting, “Olivia, be fast, please.”
Olivia nervously replied, “Okay.” She breathed a sigh of relief as she saw that her stepmother and stepsister had left the kitchen.
Olivia sighed again when she finished preparing the semolina. She switched off the gas and wiped her sweaty forehead with her light blue gown, immediately serving the semolina into smaller flat plates.
Not wanting to anger her stepmother and stepsister, Olivia quickly dished out their soup into smaller plates and placed everything on a big tray, carrying it to the dining room to serve her family.
Mia sat in her usual dining chair across from her mother, and Olivia walked up to the dining table to dish out their meals.
Mrs. Gina adjusted her seat closer to the table and began eating as Olivia served them bowls of water to wash their hands.
Mia washed her hands first before her mother.
Olivia asked Mrs. Gina, “Ma, do you need anything else?”
Mrs. Gina frowned and replied, “No, go eat your food first.”
Olivia said, “Okay,” and walked away. But just then, Mia screamed, “Mom!”
Mrs. Gina glared at Mia and asked, “What is it?”
Olivia paused by the kitchen door and stared back at Mia.
Mia said, “Mom, the soup is bitter.”
Mrs. Gina's eyes narrowed suspiciously at Mia, and she glanced at the soup since she had already washed her hands.
She dipped her right index finger into the small plate of soup and tasted it herself. Her face twisted in irritation as she immediately stood up from the dining chair and questioned Olivia, “What is the meaning of this nonsense you just cooked, Olivia?”
Olivia took a few steps back and replied, “Ma, I—”
Mrs. Gina moved away from her dining chair and rushed to Olivia.
She asked, “You what? Didn’t you taste this soup at all?”
Olivia stammered, “I did, ma… Mia added more salt to the soup and—”
Mrs. Gina landed a hot, resounding slap on Olivia's left cheek. (Slap!)
She approached Olivia again and roughly dragged her toward the dining table, bending Olivia's head into her soup plate. “Here is the soup. Taste it yourself and eat the nonsense you’ve cooked! You stupid witch! See how bitter the soup is and eat it! Did Mia help you cook it? Aren’t you the only one who cooked the soup and was in the kitchen when I entered?”
Olivia cried and tried to explain, “Ma, please…”
Mrs. Gina gave Olivia another sharp slap on her right cheek and yelled, “Shut up!”
Mrs. Gina began to beat Olivia while Mia smiled.
Mrs. Gina shouted, “You witch! You killed your parents, and now you want to kill me and my daughter too?”
Mrs. Gina continued to beat Olivia, while Olivia begged, “Please, ma. I’m innocent. I didn’t spoil the soup. Please,” Olivia cried.
“Shut up! Get out of this house! I never want to see your ugly face here again! Nathan!” Mrs. Gina called out to the gate man, and he immediately ran into the living room, responding, “Yes, madam. You called for me?”
Mrs. Gina said, “Throw this witch out of the house. I don’t want to see her here again.”
Olivia begged, “No, please, Mother… I didn’t spoil the soup.”
Mrs. Gina landed another hot, resounding slap on Olivia's left cheek and said, “One more word from you and I will have you arrested tonight, you witch. Nathan, throw her out now, and never let her into this mansion again!”
Nathan grabbed Olivia by her left arm and dragged her outside the mansion, now working solely for Mrs. Gina.
Nathan took Olivia out of the house that belonged to her late parents and dragged her toward the mansion's exit gate around 10 PM in the late-night hour.
Mia smiled, and Mrs. Gina was the happiest, having finally gotten rid of Olivia. The mansion was now her property.
She stepped outside to see if Nathan had thrown Olivia out or not.
Nathan dragged Olivia outside from the mansion, and she sobbed and begged him, "Please, sir, don't throw me out. I don't have anywhere to go. Please, Nathan..."Olivia cried, and Nathan replied, "I'm sorry, small madam, but I cannot help you now. You have to leave this house."Nathan was also worried as he didn't know what Olivia had done.He had seen her when she returned home and ran back speedily into the house, and now she was sobbing heavily while Mrs. Gina ordered him to throw her outside.Olivia begged, "Please don't throw me out. This is my father's house. I don't have anywhere else to go. Please."Nathan let go of Olivia's hands and raked his short black hair in frustration. He was a dark-skinned man and of average height.Mrs. Gina stepped out from the mansion and called out, "Nathan! Is that witch still outside?"Nathan stared at Olivia in fear and pulled the gate open as he replied, "No, madam. I have sent her outside."Nathan wasn't yet ready to lose his job, and he opened
Justin stared at Jesse's face in the strip club parking lot, contemplating for a while before he said, "Do you remember the pretty lady we saw earlier when we were leaving the estate today?"Jesse smiled and replied, "Yes, you mean the young lady who ran away from you when you tried to approach her?"Justin glared at Jesse, but Jesse laughed and apologized, "Forgive me, boss."Justin yelled, "Justin! How many times do I have to remind you to stop calling me boss?"Justin never liked it when Jesse tried to maintain a master-to-servant relationship between them.Jesse apologized, "I'm sorry, Justin, but you know how your father would react if he found out I'm being friends with you and calling you by your name."Justin replied, "I know, and that's why I want you to call me by my name, especially when we’re not at home and in public places like this. It helps to reduce the gaze of others on me."Jesse agreed, "Okay, Justin."Justin sighed in frustration and said, "I just really liked that
Jesse's eyes widened in shock as he saw Olivia's face and realized that she was the same young lady Justin had been asking him about earlier when they were still at the club. But now she looked far more battered than when he had seen her before.Jesse couldn't believe that she was the one, and Justin was seriously worrying about her too.Olivia was unable to speak about who had hurt her as she cried and begged Justin, "Please, sir... help me get to the estate gate."Justin asked her, "Why?"He held her left hand closely, not wanting her to run away from him again, but his phone continued ringing in the side pocket of his black suit trousers.Jesse's phone rang too, and Justin knew it was his parents calling. Even though they sometimes acted blindly toward him, his mother always called to check on him and see if he was alright.Justin said, "Wait a moment..."He took out his phone from his trousers while Jesse picked up his own call.Justin's mother had called his father to complain abo
Justin's car finally drove into the garage and parked. He stepped out first and saw his mother standing at the mansion's frontage, staring at him as he walked over to the passenger side of the car to assist the young lady in stepping out.Mrs. Juliet Robert was wearing a long red floral nightgown when she heard the sound of her son's car arriving in their compound. She immediately rushed out to glimpse who had arrived, and seeing it was Justin made her sigh in relief. Her husband had traveled abroad on a business trip, where he owned several properties. Mrs. Juliet suspected that her husband was unfaithful to her, even more than Justin was. However, Mr. Emerson Robert kept his promiscuous lifestyle a secret, thinking she wouldn't find out.Not only that, Mrs. Juliet had seen numerous photos and videos of her husband with some shameless young women who were proud to entertain him in their beds, despite being aware that he was a married man and a billionaire. These women wanted her to e
Justin walked into the living room with his mother, but Mrs. Juliet wasn't in a good mood at all, and she questioned her son. "Son, just take a look at the time that you're arriving home now. It's after 12 a.m.!" Mrs. Juliet ranted, and Justin rather apologized to his mother. "I'm sorry, Mom. I saw her by the road, and I couldn't just drive past her.""Why, son? We have the estate security agency to help her out, and now with you bringing her here, that will prolong the matter and warrant more questioning and explanations. What if that young lady did something more terrible in her family home or killed someone there, and you shamelessly brought her here to implicate us, too?" Mrs. Juliet roared out her frustration at Justin."No, mother! She's innocent and cannot hurt a fly," Justin said, and his mother shook her head, narrowing her black eyes at her handsome son."Is okay. It's already late now, and I want to go and sleep. By tomorrow, I want you to take her away from here. Or not to
Justin replied to Leah's greeting, "Good morning, Leah. How was your night?"Justin was practically a free guy, and even though he knew he was supposed to be strict with his staff and workers, he wasn't the type of person who took life so seriously or demanded respect all the time from his staff. He knew well that Leah, Jesse, and their gateman, Alex, all respected him as their boss, just after his father. However, he smiled and played with them behind his parents' backs, especially when his father wasn't at home. His mother usually turned a blind eye to his playfulness, but his father didn't approve of it at all and always told him to maintain a clear boss-servant relationship with their staff."My night was fine, boss, and yours?" Leah asked him as she paused her sweeping and looked up at his balcony, where he was leaning."Fine too," Justin replied, but his eyes remained focused on Olivia. Leah noticed that her boss's eyes were fully on Olivia, and he wasn't even listening to her gr
Mrs. Juliet's eyes shifted to stare at Mrs. Gina, who had finally walked out to the gate. She met Mrs. Gina's cold gaze and asked, "Why did you send her away last night?"Mrs. Gina didn’t know who the beautiful Black woman standing before her was, as she knew most of the women living around the Emerson estate were wives of prominent men."Pardon? Who are you to come into my house and question me?" Mrs. Gina shot back."Who am I?" Mrs. Juliet scoffed. "I'm very ashamed of you, woman. You have a young daughter about her size, and you choose to send her away in the middle of the night? And you could sleep so peacefully inside your room... How evil of you to be so heartless to another human's daughter, let alone your stepdaughter?" Mrs. Juliet's voice was cold, but Mia's school bus finally arrived.Mia had no choice but to leave for school. Mrs. Gina replied, "Olivia is not welcome in this house again, as she dared to poison my daughter and me last night, and to kill us too, just like how
Olivia's life had not been rosy after her stepmother's arrest, as Mrs. Gina ensured that she maltreated Olivia even more.Mrs. Gina stated, "You didn't work for the money that you used to eat here daily, and yet you have the guts to gang up against me and get me arrested. Really?"Mrs. Gina smirked as she stood in the center of the living room, and Olivia stared downward, listening to her. Seeing that Mrs. Gina had finally gone to her boutique shop, she had said, "When I return home, we will discuss this appropriately. If you know what's best for you, you better prepare and leave this house for good."Olivia was silent as she watched her stepmother finally leave the house shortly after her return from the station.Olivia could hear her stomach grumbling with hunger as she went back upstairs to her bedroom, sure that her stepmother had left the house.Later, Olivia stepped downstairs from her bedroom and walked back to the kitchen to check for something to eat. She saw the remaining noo
Mrs Juliet still wanted to bond with her grandkids and she begged Olima and Justin to stay and not leave with the twins.Justin smiled and told his mother, "Mom, we are not yet leaving the house."Mrs Juliet sighed in relief and she took Mike and Henry around the mansion, she didn't want the two boys to leave her side. She called her husband on a phone call and showed him photos of the lovely two boys and also video calling with him.Mr Emerson smiled and told her that he wasn't aware and that he would book a return flight back to the country to come see his grandkids too.Olima and Justin stayed back in Justin's family house. They bonded together as a family and ate dinners at the dining table with his mother.Mrs. Juliet finally asked Olima if she had ever gone to pay a visit to her family house again since she left.Olima shook her head and replied, "No ma."They were eating on the dining table and Mrs Juliet spoke about Olima's stepmother. She told Olima that Mrs. Gina had been jai
Olima met with Mrs Juliet's gaze on her. She knew in her mind that if Mrs Juliet had another alternative, she wouldn't be in her office.Olima sighed and replied to Mrs Juliet, "I can understand your decision then ma. But Justin didn't want to."Mrs. Juliet frowned a little and met Olima's nervous gaze on her, She asked Olima, "Didn't you like my son? You made it look like it was only Justin who wanted you?."Olima's cheeks flame red in embarrassment and she replied to Mrs Juliet, "I did like Justin.. but.."Mrs Juliet stopped Olima from finishing her words, she asked Olima, "Tell me the truth. Are you now married? You look like a married woman and I am so scared of what I would tell Justin. I promised him that I would visit you and beg you on his behalf to come home Please come back home and forgive me in particular. I was just hard on you and I cannot explain why."Olima's face turned red as she almost sobbed, but she told Mrs Juliet, "I am not angry with you ma. I can never be angry
Two months passed after Olima and Justin reunited back as lovers, and they became a family even though they hadn't gotten married.Olima hadn't gone to Justin's house was beside hers, to see his house's interior decoration, as she was mostly staying in her own house. She has a lot of entertaining spots in her home, and they usually spend time together whenever Justin visits. They swim in her swimming pool and their twins get used to seeing them together.Mike and Henry already accepted Justin as their father, and Justin now looks healthy and has recovered from his previous slim looks. Unlike the last time that he looks unhealthy.****Jesse has not yet seen the lady of the house that Justin usually visits and even sleeps in her home every day.He only saw the maid of the house and he couldn't ask the maid any questions. One day, Justin's mother called him to return home and she thought to inform him that she had been searching for Olima and she hadn't seen Olima.Mrs. Juliet was not ha
Justin looked up at Olima's face and smiled. He replied, "Yes, I have. I owned the estate.""What?? But I didn't get to see your name there" Olima looked stunned, that she was running away from Justin's family, and she still ended up with him again."I know. I didn't put my name there, but your name is on the document and in my registry too. How about your dad's company? Don't you usually go there, or how do you cope staying here?."Olima smiled and replied, "I go there only once in a while. Mr. Luke gives me an update about the company and he's very trustworthy too. So I don't have to be there always or visit there.""Mm, I hope that you don't run away from this house before I should go to work and return. Or I shouldn't even leave at all, as I don't want you to run away from me again?" Justin asked, taking more steps to meet Olima, while their two sons kept staring at the two of them.Olima smiled and replied, "No, I won't. Where am I going to run away to?.""Do I know? Anywhere of
The following morning, Olima woke up feeling a small hand tapping on her shoulder as she and Justin were still sleeping on the bed "Mummy!" Mike screamed out as he looked shocked to see a man on his mummy's bed.Olima and Justin startled awake and woke up on the bed as they stare at the pair of blue eyes that was staring at them too."My goodness Mike! What are you doing here?" Olima asked in surprise and had totally forgotten that her two kids usually comes to her room every morning to wake her up early in the morning and she didn't usually lock up her room door too..Mike didn't responded, as he sat on the bed beside Olima on her left side and staring intently and suspiciously at Justin's face, as Mike hadn't seen Justin before, and seeing him for the first time, The little boy was wondering who Justin is?.The bedroom door pushed open again and Henry also walked into the bedroom as he wore similar white pyjamas like Mike's own.."Mom!" Henry exclaimed in shocked too as he walked i
Justin replied, "No, I am not... I am not angry with you. I am happy to see you and to be a father, and meet with you again. If there is anyone I should be angry with, Is my mother and not you."Olima frowned and Justin told her, "You shouldn't be feeling any pity for my mother, she doesn't want our happiness.""No, don't tell me that. She's your mom, she carried you for nine months and raised you all by herself. So you shouldn't be mad at her, She would have her reason, I don't know..""Hmm, You are kind" Justin smiled and walked up to meet Olima. He pulled her into a hug again to his chest as she was barely reaching his shoulder height. He said, "I know that is because you're a mother now that's why you're advising me not to be angry with my mother, but is alright, I won't, so long she doesn't come in between us again."Olima frowned a little knowing that Justin's mother didn't truly like her.Justin kissed her cheeks and said, "I do not hate my mom. I am just angry about everything.
Olima feels guilty and not being able to hear that Justin is there. She fears that he might also want to sleep there at her gate. She finally told her security man, "Is okay, Let me go out to see him. Or no, Just let him inside."Olima was worried that someone else who knew her might go out to inform Justin's mother and if truly he was the one, then there was no how he wouldn't have Jesse with him..The security man went outside to meet Justin.Justin looked at the man as he was typing on his phone and chatting with a client. The security man was older than Justin and probably Jesse's age group. He said to Justin, "Madam ask you to come in and see her.".."She has? I knew she was lying to you before., thank you "Justin stepped into the compound and saw Olima standing there in the center of the compound she stared away to her garage not wanting to stare at him as he walked up to meet her...Justin could see that she looked very maturely like a married woman.Even as the night sky had f
Olima was restless after she ran into her sitting room. She has a very strong feeling that the tall dark man that she saw earlier was Justin Robert."How is he the one that's living in the next compound? Justin? Are you sure he is the one?." Olima was worried as she knew that if truly that man that she saw was Justin, then she would be in trouble as he would find out the whole truth about her."What am I going to do now?" Olima had sent her two kids away to go and meet with Lady Eve downstairs, and though her two sons didn't want to leave her side, she had to call on their nanny to come and carry them away.Olima heard the loud knocking sound on her house gate at first, and with each passing second, she knew that the tall man was already at her house gate to confirm his suspicions and he was Justin too"Oh! What am I going to do now? Should I send Lady Eve to go and pretend that she's me and attended to him on my behalf? But Lady Eve is a black woman. Should I send Amara? But Amara i
Justin was stunned as he was standing outside in his garage and speaking to Jesse. He wanted to leave for his new company, which he had recently built, as his company was a fine art company, where he decided to try out his drawing skills and also meet with other top fine artists that were in their city.He was more into entertainment and though he still hadn't forgotten about Olima and wished to meet with her someday, no matter how many times he had gone to her company, and hired a spy to know when she secretly arrived. He was told that she hadn't visited the company for a long time now.Justin hasn't given up hope. He focused on his business and warned his mother never to speak to him about marriage and that she should adopt a grandson if she needed one.He stopped going home, after seeing that his mother wasn't yet ready to listen to him.She called him and told him that she would visit him, but he told her not to, to avoid them getting any further problems. His mother wouldn't stop
