64. Take me where I can breath

Sara's heart raced as she looked up at Kevin, "Thank you," she whispered, her voice shaky.

Kevin shrugged, trying to downplay his heroics. "No need to thank me. Just stay away from trouble, alright?"

Sara, unable to meet his gaze directly, nodded silently, her head lowered.

Sara continued to walk ahead, her unsteady steps revealing her drunken state. Kevin, also under the influence of alcohol, walked alongside her with his hands in his pockets. As they made their way, Kevin's gaze shifted to Sara's profile, his voice taking on a deeper tone as he spoke.

"What are you doing alone on this deserted road, Sara? It's not safe for you to be out like this. If I hadn't come, who knows what could have happened."

Sara let out a bitter laugh, her words dripping with pain. "Why the hell does it matter, Kevin? My daughter's fighting for her life in the damn hospital, and my husband wants absolutely nothing to do with me. Things couldn't get any worse."

"You love him, don't you?"
