328. They've killed your mother

They walked for miles until they reached a river. Noah finally stopped, glancing at Jemma who was visibly tired, though she didn't voice it.

"Take rest here for a while. We will depart then," Noah suggested. Jemma nodded, and Noah lay down on the ground, closing his eyes. Jemma sat beside him, observing his worn-out state. His bloody face and rapid breaths filled her with a sense of unease.

"Who are they?" she asked hesitantly.

"Mafia," Noah replied a casual tone that sent shivers down Jemma's spine. Why would the mafia be after him? Wasn't he just a normal businessman?

"Why are they after us?"

"They want to kill me," Noah stated matter-of-factly as if it were a routine occurrence.

"But why?" Jemma pressed on.

"It's a long story."

"Don't tell me you're involved in danger. You can't. You're a gentleman," Jemma pleaded.

Noah opened his eyes, locking his gaze with hers, "Am I?"

His playful glare scared Jemma. "You're scaring me, Jimmy."

"I'm the most dangerous man," he declared with prid
