297. I want you to stop me

As Jemma exited the building, there was no sign of Noah. A glance at her watch revealed she was ten minutes late; panic set in. Had he left, assuming she'd chosen Jay? The thought terrified her. Frantically calling Noah, she was met with the ominous silence of a switched-off phone.

Calling a taxi, she raced to their apartment.

Darkness greeted her, a frozen tableau of their life. Panic seized her.

Had he left?

Flicking on the lights, she found Noah's shirt, blazer and phone abandoned on the table. Relief mixed with confusion.

He'd returned, but where was he now?

The apartment's emptiness propelled her back outside, determined to find him.

The security guard interfered, halting her.

"Madam, Mr. Dixon's car keys," the security guard said.

Jemma took the keys, confusion etched on her face. "What are you doing with the keys?"

"He dropped them in the parking. I was about to go upstairs to give him the keys. It's good you appeared."
