262. You can believe what you want

Jay lay senseless in the ICU, surrounded by machines beeping rhythmically. Wires and tubes connected him to monitors, displaying his weak vital signs. Medical professionals rushed around, tending to his injuries with urgency, while his fate hung in the balance.

Jemma stood motionless outside the ICU, tears streaming down her face, gazing at Jay through the glass. She felt paralyzed by grief, watching him fight for life. The machines beeped incessantly, heightening the harsh reality of his weak state, and leaving her in misery.

The doctors and staff exited the ICU, leaving Jay alone. Jemma remained unmoving.

Soon, Eric arrived, placing a comforting hand on her shoulder, “It’s late. I’ll drop you.”

She wiped her tears and glanced at Eric.

"What did the doctor say?" Jemma asked.

"Jay slipped into a coma. It's uncertain when he'll wake up. His condition's critical; he might not last long," Eric replied grimly.
