After Mr. Hastings presented the ring to the mysterious figures, a heavy silence enveloped the chamber. Finally after a brief pause, the figure seated in the middle, on a throne-like chair,rose to his feet. The figure's face was concealed by the darkness and cloak. With piercing intensity, he scrutinized the ring in Mr. Hastings' hands. It was evident, judging by his authoritative aura, that the figure was the head of the council, known as the Supreme Master.

As the Supreme Master took his gaze away from the ring, he turned his attention towards the entrance, where two cloaked figures stood guard. And then with a silent command, the Supreme Master signaled to the guards.
