“Achoo!” Alexandra wiped her nose with a new tissue paper. She was falling sick, probably a cold she caught from standing under the shower all night and then falling asleep with a damp hair. Theodore would give her hell if he knew that she was taking such poor care of her health. So it was best if she kept it away from him.Nodding her head to her inner thought, she disposed of her used tissue paper and turned her attention back to work. She was only half way done when the alarm on her phone began to ring. The alarm’s title stated ‘Death anniversary.’She looked at it and sighed, her whole face completely falling. With all that has been going on, she failed to remember that tomorrow was her parent’s death anniversary. She felt disappointed with herself. Some daughter she is.Turning off the alarm, she made a mental not to miss the anniversary tomorrow, pay them a visit and with her free time rest. She slid open her drawer and chugged down her cold medicine, not like it was of any help
Alexandra sighed and relaxed into her chair. She had done the right thing. No one on earth could convince her otherwise. Rather Benjamin’s words were just too funny. Her action would come back and bite her? Ha! Who exactly did he think she was?The only person who was on the road to regretting their decision was that woman. She was just as much of a traitor like the rest of her family.Sighing again, Alexandra closed her eyes. The back of her hand went up to touch her forehead. The temperature was well above the normal temperature of a healthy person, so she decided to call it a day, and just as she was about to stand up from her chair, there was another knock at the door. This time- thinking it was her uncle back for more trouble- she lost it and yelled. “Benjamin God so save your soul if you don’t get lost this very second.”There was another knock after her words and she exhaled through her lips. With reluctance, she called. “Just come in.”The door opened and when Lucien walked in
Up close, her breath felt so feverish against his lips. He could almost taste the lavender of her cologne like it had been sprayed directly in his face. All this facts were so omissible with the little to no distance between them both.Lucien’s hand rested on the arm of the couch, stopping his body at the last moment from compressing with that of his ex wife. But that didn’t stop the way his heart had shut into overdrive, beating manically against his chest.Deep down, he hope Alexandra couldn’t hear it.Well his prayers were answered without a second to spare. Immediately they had landed on the couch, Alexandra mind had gone into a totally blank state. Her whole body felt feverish all over and her insides felt like they were going to expand and burst due to all the heat that was growing inside. This feeling… this new feeling that her brain couldn’t process felt like it was going to swallow her whole. It was all too dangerous, yet, why did it seem like some part of her body did not fe
Much like the rain, the burning feeling inside of her didn’t seem to leave. Instead, by this morning it seemed worse, both the rain and her burning insides. As she stared at the entrance of the graveyard, she couldn’t help but sigh and touch her forehead. It was hot. Her fever had risen over night, but she dared not miss out the death anniversary of her parents. Right now, all she needed to do was buckle up and finish her visit to her parent’s graves, after that, her body could do as it wished.Alexandra nodded and grabbed the flower bouquet and her black long coat, throwing it over the black gown she wore and stepped out of the car into an already waiting umbrella. Michael who had been holding the umbrella, bowed when she stepped out.“Do you need me to come along?” He inquired. She collected the umbrella and shook her head. There was no need. “Just wait in the car.” She ordered as she strode off and passed the rolls and rolls of gravestone, only stopping when she arrived at the desi
Her fever was raising the more. Alexandra could feel it. Every passing second that she stood in the cold atmosphere of the rain; her fever seemed to rise up.Finally done with paying her respect, she wiped her eyes and bowed.“Don’t worry about me Mom, Dad, this is nothing. I've made a promise and no matter what, I’m going to carry it out.”After placing a two finger kiss on the head of the gravestones she bowed for the final time and turned around, but just as she attempted to take a step forward, her vision became hazy and her legs wobbly. Before she knew it, her body had descended to the floor and a sharp pain coursed through her knees. What perfect fucking luck she had. Out of all the days she just so happened to fall sick before her parents anniversary. As if the day couldn’t get any worse.“Fucking great. Just freaking fucking great!” She furiously pounded her fist into the wet floor, looking for some sort of way to release the amount of frustration she had been harboring. But s
She was smiling, a genuine one that made Lucien silently sit by the edge of his bed and stare down at her sleeping face. After he had taken her away from the graveyard, he brought her back to his mansion and had gently placed her in his bed. The housekeeper did the needful and changed her out of her wet outfit, providing him with a bowl of cold water before she bowed her head and disappeared out the door. Lucien who had never really cared for a sick person was quiet relief to see her fever lessen under his watch. He glanced at the clock then back at the blonde sleeping in his bed. It was already past dinner time yet she was not awake, obviously nothing to worry about based on the doctors instructions, but based on those same doctors instructions she needed to ingest some form of solid food before at least taking her required medication and he doubted she had taking anything tangible throughout the day.A knock on the door had cut his attention in half. He turned towards the wooden ent
His words of encouragement had gotten her through the hardest of times. She couldn’t remember his every word, but just the few she could meant everything to her. She’d forever cherish them. Forever.Rays of sunlight streamed down on Alexandra’s face as her eyes slowly fluttered open. It was morning, a bright and beautiful one. Slowly, as she rose up from the bed, her vision cleared and she examined her surroundings. They were unfamiliar, not like her own bedroom, yet she somehow knew the structures. Her feet landed on the cold floor as she stepped out of bed, eyes trained on the multiple awards shelve ahead. She approached it and ran her fingers across them, then turned her gaze in the direction of the sunlight. The wooden floor looked glorious as it basked in the golden light of the morning sun shining through the balcony’s glass. It was one of the many rare peaceful sights and body could witness.Alexandra smiled, but it quickly faded as she caught her reflection wearing clothes tha
Lucas kept his head bowed as he held the door open in front of Grey Manor and Alexandra stepped out. As per curtsey, she thanked him and headed inside. The first thing she did was to collapse on her soft bed. The comfy mattress instantly accepted her body and drew her in. She sighed and closed her eyes.‘What a day.’ She thought and rolled on her side, closing her eyes to gather her thoughts when the sound of her house phone interrupted the session.“Well damn.” She muttered and rolled over then reached for the landline position on her night stand. She picked it up and placed it to her ear. “Yeah hello?”She asked casually, not expecting anyone important, however, at the voice from the other side, her body tensed up.“Alexandra, it’s your Grandmother.”Grandmother. Like hell she was! Alexandra could phantom an answer as to how she could call herself that after all she might have done. Her audacity was outrageous.Keeping herself together, she rose to a sitting position on her bed and
