Fiona Forger was furious, clutching her phone and immediately calling Jackson Hale, instructing him to handle the news and contact the Forger family home. But before she could utter two sentences, her father snatched the phone away.

"Consider that article as a pre-announcement to the media. Both of our families are in full agreement regarding this marriage," her father said, blocking any further discussion. He hung up the phone without giving Fiona a chance to speak. When she called back, no one answered. Finally, she received a text message from her mother, stating that her father had made the decision and she should refrain from provoking him.
