Alexandra

This was my first time in the bustling city of Las Vegas. The radiant colored lights shone and illuminated every path on the streets such that it was a  blend of streets with variant colors. Sitting on the window side of the train was worth it. From watching the tall grasses of the countryside to reaching the low grasses and then the cheerful light of the city. I traced the pace of the train with my hand as we rode through the city of Las Vegas.

Party clothes, business clothes, night street clothes, people of different skin colors, backgrounds, and personalities walked through the streets, all minding their business, oblivious to the moving train. Back home, everyone would stop and stare at the train for a while before moving on with their lives.

A blast of music filled the air and ahead we could see a group of ballet dancers spinning through the streets on their toes. Some people stopped to watch them, while the rest moved on like nothing was happening. As we rode past them, I turned my neck and watched till they disappeared out of sight.

I’ve always loved ballet dancing. I had practiced a few times back at home with the steps drawn in magazines. I could make a few introductory steps but that was it. I wasn't good enough and opportunities are limited where I come from.

“Come out of your thoughts Alexa! This night is ours to explore!!!”

Ava screamed at the top of her lungs as she shook me vigorously.

Everyone in our train compartment turned their eyes to us. We looked like five country girls, coming into Las Vegas for the first time. But no, it was just four of us though, Hazel has been here before, she once told us her man works in Las Vegas.

Emma, Hazel, Sophia, Ava, and I. The five best girls in their country home Idaho. We had taken a morning train from Idaho Fall to Las Vegas, a 10-hour journey to celebrate my birthday in arrears.

I was the youngest of them all and as I finally turned legal our girl culture demanded that we celebrate in style.

I stared wildly at Ava. She wasn't one to shout. She was naïve and quiet, except when she was hyper. Though I expect her to be hyper. Who wouldn't be in Las Vegas?

“Ava, don’t shout, please. People are staring.”  I whispered to her.

“They can stare. We are beautiful and then there’s you with fire-colored hair! You’re so beautiful that you’re a billionaire kind of girl!” Hazel exclaimed and winked at me.

We burst into hearty laughter.

“Billionaires love blonde skinny girls, the kind in Victoria’s magazine. And we ain’t no blondes here.” Emma rolled her eyes at Hazel.

Sophia popped a sweet and put it in Hazel’s mouth.

“Don’t argue girl, we know you and Emma can increase the speed of the train with the energy of your arguments” Sophia said.

I laughed, Sophia was the brake lever inclined to stop Emma and Hazel from starting their argument engines.

Today was going to be fun. At least that’s what my Mama had said when she did her tarot reading for me this morning. Today was set to be the beginning of my life. At the end of the day, we would see the new world awaiting me.

The train came to a stop at Sants' train station.

We alighted looking like the five musketeers, strong, bold, and beautiful. We had invested a lot to make our dresses and I was in a flowery black dress with red boots matching the color of my hair.

“We are going to Inégalé. It’s like a 20-minute drive from here. So, we enter the cab.” Hazel announced behind me.

“Hope it’s somewhere we can afford?” Emma said giving Hazel a side eye

“Yes, I booked there. I’ll take care of the bills” Hazel said and turned towards me with a smile,

“Anything for my favorite girl”

I gave her a broad smile back.

“We would also lodge there for the night when we’re done dancing and taking shots with Alexa. So, after clubbing, we get some shut-eye and get back to Idaho by nightfall tomorrow” she finalized.

“That’s a good plan. You had everything arranged for us. You’re the sweetest girl” I said and went closer to her to rub her shoulders slightly.

“Don’t praise her, we are all sweet, aren’t we Ava?” Sophia asked.

“We are!” Ava replied with enthusiasm.

I laughed.

Hazel was the most exposed of us all and she did a good job taking us to places for exploration. Although we were in the same age grade, she was more experienced and therefore like an older sister to us.

“We have been saving a year for this! And here we are!” Ava exclaimed as she turned round and round taking in the environment.

“Yes, the trickling euro we put in our savings daily paid off.  And now we have our feet on the soil of Las Vegas.”  I said while beaming from ear to ear.

The bright colors filled everywhere with life and although it was way past 10p.m everywhere was bustling with activities like it was just morning.

In our home, Papa would always say, "Las Vegas is a city for all and a home for none.” How wrong he was. Everyone I saw looked at peace. Busy, but at peace.

“You don’t want to look like you’re a first-timer here” Hazel dragged Ava into our horizontal walking line to stop her from walking around wide-eyed.

“Uh huh, nothing wrong with being a first timer ya know? We haven’t been here like you. Let her feel her environment” Emma mumbled sipping the apple juice we’d shared as snacks during the journey here.

Sophia ran towards Hazel and hugged her tightly, saying,

“You don’t have to reply.”

She turned to Emma, ‘This night is not about you and Hazel. It’s about Alexa, please. Let’s focus”

I and Ava laughed, our voices mixing with the bustling noise of the city.

Emma and Hazel had a thing for disagreeing with each other, but either way, we always knew we were friends for life.

As we got further away from the station and into the streets, Hazel stopped a Cab and we entered.

The cab took us to the Inégalé. It was owned by a French man according to Hazel, hence the name.

The cab stopped us and we alighted to see a monumental alluring glass building with different colors of the spectrum dazzling from all edges, such that they all seemed to meet at a point above the building to form a twinkling shiny star displaying the name INÉGALÉ.

There were countless floors but just one floor was emitting the color combination found in club rooms. The wild moving color brightened the mood.

“Hazel… are you sure of our savings… can it pay for this hotel? It looks costlier than what we have.” I stuttered while staring at the dazzling sight in front.

The cars parked in front of the hotel weren’t a play. Ranging from the gothic Mercedes to the shiniest 2017 BMW, men and women of class were exiting and entering the hotel.

We didn’t exactly look like frogs in a fish pond but alighting from a cab seemed inappropriate for this kind of hotel.

“Girl, Alexa, this night is for you. Relax and enjoy. Our savings did this for us with little effort from me. But I did it for us. Your kind heart is the soul of our clique. You deserve the best of them all” Hazel said, rubbing my shoulders with her two hands.

“Yes, Hazel is for once right, yeah, you Alexa my lover merits the beautiful things there are in life. This is for you.” Emma chipped in.

Tears got into my eyes and I couldn’t help but feel the overwhelming love we had for ourselves.

“No tears” Sophia whispered to me as Hazel led the way and we entered into the biggest classic club room I’ve ever seen.

“Let’s sit at that corner!” Ava exclaimed happily over the noise.

“No! That side looks a bit hidden, we can watch everyone from there!”. Sophia said, dragging my hand to the left side of the club.

“Guys!” Hazel exclaimed and we all turned to look at her.

“I brought us here, follow me”

She said and turned and walked to the right side of the club where there was less noise and we followed suit like chicks following a mother hen.

We settled at a table of five like it was made for us.

“How do I order?” Emma asked

“What do we start with?” Sophia chipped in quietly

“Food, of course, I’m famished,” Ava said, rubbing her stomach.

“This isn’t about you girl, Alexa what should we start with?” Hazel asked me.

“Food is okay, we’re hungry. Then we can take some shots, I’ll take my first shot and we’ll dance," I said and slowly moved my waist and laughter erupted from our crowd.

DerrickThe giggles of sultry laughter rang through the noise of the club reaching my ears amidst the noise in the club.I had watched a group of girls saunter into the club room carefree. The red-haired girl in a black dress stood out amongst her friends. I couldn’t get my eyes off her from the moment she entered. I couldn’t see her face because the club room was designed to keep every face a mystery but the shadow outline of her body and the magnificent red hair called out to me.There was something fierce yet homely about her that called out to my inner self. It was like I could sieve out which of the laughing voices was hers and it rang in my ears vibrating through my body.“Do you want her?” Jackson's raspy voice rang in my ear.Argh! I turned to see Jackson’s face leaning into mine.“Man, you don’t have to do that, keep your rough voice for the next girl who wants to lay you,” I said as I pushed his messy face away from my ears.“The next girl would be in a place far away from L

ALEXA I had seen him immediately after we came into the club room. His green eyes pierced mine before I sat down. Even as we ate, I wished I had sat where I could look at him directly. “What are you thinking of? Your mind is not here!” Emma yelled into my ear. “You know I can hear you even when you talk slowly?” I raised my eyebrows at her feigning annoyance. “Oh come on! You could barely hear your mom call you even when she shouts and her voice reaches my home!” she yelled again into my ears. I slapped her face away, laughing. “Stop, please. I’m here with us.” “Are you staring at the three men behind us?” she asked to giggle Thank goodness. I wasn’t the only one ogling over hot unreachable men that were a few inches away from us. “How can I stare at them when they are behind me? I don’t have eyes at the back of my hair, girl” I said and sighed into the air. “Oh! But your body moves like it wishes to stare.” Emma giggled again. “You can twitch your head to the side and sta

AlexaI couldn’t place how I was here with this guy in a room. Processing how I was enjoying his touch, his mouth on me, and finally, as he penetrated me.His hardness touched my entrance, hard, soft, and raw.He could use a condom. Wasn’t he thinking? I’ve not done this before. I wanted to scream it so much. But my hips arched to let him into me.It was like a lock and key. A perfect fit rubbing every part of my V that made me a woman. I could feel him in all parts of my body.He thrust in slowly, slowly, and then picked momentum. I was bouncing off the bed to match his rhythm. My hips are aching, yet arching for more.I could feel my wetness pouring out more making him slippery within meSlurpy, wet, riding me to orgasm.Engorged veins were way better than my toys and fingers. My body was on fire and every one of his touches pricked my skin in a way I’d never felt before.I was awake, but drowsy and hot, very hot. I could feel it coming. He thrust in harder and I screamed. He thrus

ALEXAI woke up in a strange bed, with strange smells and strange noises. Not the smell of wet soil and farm house noises I was used to. I was the noise of honking cars and the odor of too many people packed into too little space. I turned around on the silk sheet and saw the indentation on the pillow beside mine and the entire events of the previous night came flooding back to my head. It was a night of many firsts, My twenty-first, my first real trip out of our lazy, country town, my first time at a club and first shot. I smiled at the memory of my friends and our wild night. I felt a wetness between my legs and the events of my blackout revealed itself to me. The broody man, his friends and how we made eyes at each other all night long. We did more than that I remember now. How the girls teased me about him, encouraging me to down the shots so I could talk to him and so I could lose my virginity in sin city. I smelt him all over him and where he spent the night. He wasn't there now.

DerrickThe team looked up for directions on what to do. They were watching me, gauging my emotions to see how far I’ve spiraled. How far I’ve lost control of myself and the company. I raised my head from the table and faced the team once more. We’ve been awake since the news broke out at dawn and we've been trying ways of tackling the issue. It was clear as day that this was an inside job and whoever was behind this was obviously an executive member of staff and their plan was a stroke of genius. Get me out of the office. Soften me up with booze and the sentiment of Jackson moving away and the promise of lying with an exquisite red head. I was notorious for my thing for redheads, Damn her, I thought. Damn her to hell and back. I knew it was her fault I got into this mess but she was the only one I could blame. “Excuse me for a moment people,” I said to the conference table before I went to my private bathroom to gather my thoughts. When I got there I locked the door behind me and sa

Alexa. After countless hours of monotonous travel in the bus, the voice on the radio droning on and on. The heat in the unconditioned bus heaping on our misery. The four of us are not speaking to each other. Refusing to make eye contact with each other, refusing to look at where she would have sat. All of us are stuck in our own hell. Imagining the atrocities being committed here. Emma has been looking around trying to spark up conversation, so we could discuss the events of Las Vegas and missing Hazel. I wanted to be out of this terrain so bad. I want to put the events of the past night behind me. This is all a bad dream I said to myself but the migraine pounding on my body and my sore body from being tossed and turned screamed otherwise. I looked out the window to the same horizon I've been looking at for over five hours. Red dust and bare rocks cut through with black asphalt. Not a single plant in sight, everything around for miles was barren plains and rocky outcrops. This place i

AlexaThe paireirs slowly transformed to endless rows of corn fields and cotton farms. The air took on the signature scent of manure and I knew we were in the country. The landmarks took on a fond familiarity. ‘Fifty Miles to Idaho,’ the reflective green road sign announced. We should be home in an hour. We’re getting home, at last. But it wasn't a happy homecoming. I looked at my friends with dread and returned the same. Emma was biting her nails while sweating bullets, Ava eyes were dark with bags and red like she spent the whole trip crying which she did. Even Sophia who was the ‘cruelest’ amongst us look like she was walking towards the gallows. Her eyes were pressed together tightly and she was muttering something under her breath like a last prayer before her head was cut from her body. She felt my eyes on her and she stopped immediately. She opened her eyes, sighed and called the others attention. Her face transformed to a grim resolve. She took a deep breath and being the mos

AlexaThe ride back home was the longest and most uncomfortable one I have ever had the ill fate of talking. No one talked to each other. The tension was so thick you could taste it. James kept looking over his shoulders to look at us, instead of at us. I found myself wishing we would get into an accident. That would be a coward's escape from having to face the people back home. Emma moved over and reached for my hand. I took and and she squeezed hard, her hands warm and reassuring in mine. I squeezed hers back, hoping to give her the same reassurance I felt with her. “You didn't tell me how last night was,” she whispered.I looked at her, “Not now.” She nodded and went back to being quiet. My mind went back to the handsome stranger I gave myself to last night. My feet tingling at the thought of him. The rush of heat to my face and the roots of my hair at the trail of kisses he left on my neck. I lost myself last night. I let go of the worries of tonight and let the memories wash ove

It’s been two weeks since I last set my eyes on Derrick, he informed me he was traveling a day earlier and wouldn’t know when he would be back and just like a puff of smoke, he vanished, for two weeks, without looking back, even though the office was run successfully without his presence, the office still felt void as I came here every morning. And every morning I came to the office, I hoped I would see him slouching on his chair or concentrating on his work as he always does.I hated to admit it and I didn’t even want to admit that I missed him so much. It was completely lonely and empty without him at the office, to boss people around, to make snide remarks at people, or even boss me around.Aside from Derrick, my life was completely going according to plan, I had gotten some new pieces of furniture for the new house and painted Henry’s room. I had Olivia come check out the house and she was just as excited as me and Emma. She also helped in picking out some exquisite furniture for

When I finally looked up to check the time, I saw it was far past and Derrick hadn't gotten back to the office. He said he was just stepping out for a minute, but I was glad he wasn't here because I faced no distractions in the morning and I had done an incredible amount of work since I was alone.Since it was already lunch hour, I got up to get something to eat when I received a call from the house agent telling me he was ready for me to go see my house.Excitement washed over me and I immediately sent him my office address so we could meet outside, and we would go together to see the house, I quickly snacked on the sandwich I brought from home.I was done eating in no time and Mr. William pulled up to the front of my office and put a call across to me. Since there was no sign of Derrick yet, I took the initiative

I had reservations about Alexa’s capabilities when it came to giving her a tough job to handle, and I knew the main reason why I pitched the job to her was mainly because of the encounter I had with the Prince yesterday. It wasn’t a big task, it was a very minute task but I still had doubts in my mind.I found it funny that just yesterday the prince came into my office and brought up the idea of buying Alexa for himself. It looked to me like ages ago.The events that had taken place right after made it look like ages ago. As much as I was not willing to give her something she wouldn’t be able to handle, I did it to make her stay and not get swooned by whatever promises the Prince might have made.I would deal with Diana much later, except for the fact that my mother has been buzzing my phone nonstop since she heard the news of Diana’s accident. I wasn’t ready to deal with that just yet.Despite my hesitation about Alexa, I forwarded her the emails and everything she needed to work wit

We Bid Olivia our goodbyes and I made a quick stop at his school to drop him off. Then I headed to the office.Thankfully, Derrick wasn't in his seat and that was so unlike him. I went to the receptionist area, made a hot cup of black coffee, and headed straight to Derrick's office. Setting it down gently, I took a good look at his office, even though his office was breathtakingly beautiful, it lacked warmth. Just like Derrick himself.“What are you doing in here staring like that?” The Husky voice made me wheel myself around. The sight of him was almost a nightmare. He looked so tired and stressed out with h

I was still perturbed about what happened back at the office, I sat quietly in my room in pitch blackness wondering how she was feeling and if my actions had forever strained any relationship I might have with her in the future.I should have waited till she was ready and I wished in a corner of my mind she had accepted for me to stay over for tea but I understood that after what transpired in the office, she might be feeling a little bit uncomfortable around me.A part of me liked that I kissed her and wanted more, but a part of me also felt that wasn’t the right thing to do. I kept thinking of her, what was going on in her head, and how she reacted to my touch.Every attempt to remove her from my thinking proved abortive. Not in a million years did I picture the image that was displayed right in front of me.My boss’s girlfriend just had a fatal accident, and I witnessed the heroic show that Derrick put into saving her life. And I wondered what could have transpired between them,They were just ogling over themselves a few minutes ago, and now she was lying helplessly in the middle of the road. I silently prayed that she wasn't dead because I was sure it would cause Derrick to be torn into pieces and my work might become more insufferable.I waited patiently past closing hours, even when the other staff had all dispersed home, I had to wait for Derrick to come to the office first. I was in serious doubt as to if he would make it back to the company or if I should just leave. If the accident was very fatal, I doubted Derrick would make it to the office again. I looked at the lifeless body of Diana and I felt I was in a dream, I had the premonition that something like this would happen, yet I still let go. I slow-paced to the scene of the accident and was almost happy as I noticed there was still a slight pulse on her breathing, I immediately sprang up into action.Thankfully, Andrew brought my car in the nick of time and I slumped Diana over my shoulders while Andrew drove over to the hospital like a lunatic.“Diana, please live”. What the hell are you doing talking to her?”.Why would my mother still talk to Diana, they had gotten along 4 years ago but that was in the past and I intended to keep it that way.“And Yes, Mother, it's been 4 years”, I said, grimacing.“What do I need this piece of information for?”
