31: Come Back and Wait

"I have not seen you for days."

"I am sorry for not updating you."

Mister Ramirez stared at my eyes like he is trying to define if I am just fine or not. Just like what I used to when faking my feelings, I smiled at him like I am feeling nothing. Like I am just fine as fuck and he does not have to worry about me at all. "You are absent for two days," he said and leaned against his seat. "Why, Talia?"

"Miss Talia, Mister -" he cut me off and did not let me finish my correction session the way he called me. We are here in his office for Pete's sake and he should be professional!

"I don't care," he said while giving me a sharp look. "And correction, I am not Mister Ramirez."

I creased my brows. "Why, did you changed your last name?"

He pursed his lips because of my sarcasm. "It is Kiel, obviously."

"I do not know that person. I just know Mister Ramirez," I said with my innocent look. That made him to stare at me more. He meet my eyes and even though I feel so weak just by his stares, I paid his gaze back and stared at him with the same intensity.

"Kiel was the one who fucked you," he said in monotone which made me gulp. "He was the one who took your virginity -"

"Stop," I stopped him and gritted my teeth. "Shut the fuck up because I regret giving myself to you, asshole."

He creased his brows in surprise. "Are you mad at me?"

"No, I am not. I am glad and happy, Mister Ramirez."

He crossed his arms over his chest and squinted his eyes on me. He even scanned my whole body and I did not flinch at all. "Tell me why," he said formally and anticipated. But I did not answer him. Instead, I went to the sofa and scanned my eyes to the folder and focused myself to work.

I just heard him sigh with a shake of his head. He did not talk to me anymore because he know that I will just ignore his ass off even when he beg in front of me. Not that I am feeling superior but I am just mad and annoyed at him. I can not move on about what I have witnessed of him with that woman. I even absent for two days because I want to refresh myself without seeing him. I thought I will be fine after that break, but it turns out that I miss him but I am still annoyed, no, I am mad. I know that I do not have the right to feel that way, but I just can not help it.

He fooled me and he is just playing around. Maybe he just got bored and doing those stuff to me will give some fun of him.

I and Dani had lunch together in the cafeteria. This woman can not just stop herself from talking about random things. I just let him talk and I am just listening. I was even caught off guard when she suddenly open up about the trip that I and Mister Ramirez had.

"Maybe you had fun?" Dani said cheerfully and even raised her spoon and fork up and face me like she just guess something right.

I just shrugged my shoulders and did not answer her. I do not want to discuss about that thing to her because I do not want to think about that anymore. The thought of me and Mister Ramirez together there makes goosebumps to gush through my system.

I hate it, really.

"Hey, Tal. I am talking to you." Dani waved her hands in front of my face. I pursed my lips and looked at her innocently, like I heard nothing from her. "Did not you hear me?"

"Huh? I am sorry? What about it?"

She rolled her eyes in disbelief before she shook his head. "Nah, I said nothing. Anyway, move on. Let's just talk about some other stuff. Do you have a boyfriend already?"

I immediately shook my head. "No, Ido not have and i don't have any plans to."

"Woah, really? How about suitor?"

I was about to answer when suddenly, someone sat beside me. I was about to yell at them but when I saw who it was, my mouth automatically shut and I was stunned for a moment.

"Can I sit here?" Mister Ramirez asked us in a calm manner. I looked at Dani who is also in surprise and is looking at me differently. That is when I noticed that many people inside the cafeteria are looking at our direction because of Mister Ramirez's presence. "Can I?"

"Y-Yeah, sure, Sir!" Dani said nervously. I was not planning to answer him that is why Dani panicked to respond. She even dilate her eyes on me furtively but I just shrugged it off and continued to eat, ignoring his presence.

I do not care and I should not care. That is the man who fooled me and I should not give him my attention because he is no worth my time.

We continued to eat with eyes glancing our direction. Dani looked at me with a meaningful look and even kicked my foot under the table but I just creased my brows and looked at her with "what" expression.

"Uh," Dani cleared her throat and turned her head to Mister Ramirez that is just silent taking his food. "Sir, how is life?"

He seemed to not expect that question from Dani. He glance at me first before he wiped the side of his lips using the table napkin. "Fine, doing fine. How about yours?"

"Oh," Dani laughed, amused because he throw the question back to her. "Of course, alright than fine. Especially now that my crush is in front of me."

I smirked when he cough all of a sudden. He even faked a laugh and looked at her. "You mean, Tal - I mean, Miss Hernandez?"

Dani smiled awkwardly. "Yeah," she said like she has no other choice but to not deny his statement. I shook my head in disappointment and did not mind them. That is their business, not mine. Maybe I will just listen but I will not interfere.

I just listened whole throughout their conversation. They get along, though. Dani is too good to befriend with others and I admire her because of that. Because for me, it is quite hard to interact with people who is not on the list of your likings. She is just too good, really.

"But how is your vacation with Talia?" That question from Dami got my attention. I looked at Mister Ramirez who also looked at me after hearing that. I raised my brows a little, anticipating what he would say. Either he will be honest or lie, might be he will just drop some things that are not involving sexual activities.

"Just fine," he simply said and looked away from him. He then sipped on his water and licked his lower lip. "It is enjoying."

"Woah, do you have some pictures of the view? You know, I have not actually get there and I wonder how the place you went in look like."

"Yeah, we have some."

"Oh, we? Hmm, you two took a picture together?"

Uh-oh, how careless this piece of shit is.

I gulped while Mister Ramirez just raised his brows, probably thinking that Dani is so observing. He glance at me, as if asking for my help but I did not say anything. I did not care about him and pretended like he was not asking for help.

"Yeah," he casually said that made Dani to dilate her eyes in shock and amazement.

"Wow! Can I see it?"

I kicked her foot over the table but she did not mind me at all. Mister Ramirez on the other hand looked hesitant, probably he would not like it if a woman like Dani will be able to have access on his phone and scan her gallery.

"No, you can't -"

"Here," I cut him off and handed Dani my phone. She gladly accept it and opened it for her to see our photos. The silly man beside me creased his brows. Even if he was not looking at me, I know that he is kind of annoyed because I let Dani to see our photos together.

I then smirked.

"Oh, there is nothing here," her shoulders sagged in disappointment when she saw none of our pictures. I bit my lower lip and looked away.

"Sorry, I forgot the thought that I deleted all of them."

"Why?" Mister Ramirez asked in monotone, but sounding so annoyed.

"I just don't like it," I simply said and shrugged my shoulders. "I hate to see stupid person in my phone."

He cleared his throat because of what I said. "Then you should have deleted all of your photos."

I shot him a glare. "Shut up, Mister."

He raised his brows at me. "You have the guts to tell me that?"

"Yes, why not?"

"Then you're fired," he casually said like it was just nothing. My eyes widened in disbelief especially when he stood up, leaving his food and getting off the cafeteria. My lips then pursed because many eyes were on me and on him, that's really weird and rude at the same time.

"Just, what the hell, Talia?" Dani grunted in disapproval and looked at me with her confused eyes. I just pouted and sighed a little. "You are fired, he fired you!"

"I know, I know." I massaged my temple and hissed. "Just let him be. I will also rest from work and maybe he should hire another secretary. He fired me and that's it, I am jobless. I don't care anymore. I am tired enough to bear with him."

"Talia," she called my name, warning me but I just shook my head and already stood up. I said sorry to her first before I went out of the place. My things were on Mister Ramirez's office and I have to get there first and also, I will sign my resignation letter because this will be my last day here.

I knocked on his door three times first before I opened the door. He was already sitting on his seat and is staring at me intently. I did not mind him and went towards my things. "Sir, I will now sign my resignation letter."

He did not responded, making me look at him with my emotionless face.

"You fire me and -"

"Why are you mad at me?" he asked all of a sudden. Instead of getting straight to my point, he focused on his query that is not even important.

"I am not," I told him with a fake jolly smile planting on my lips. "Now, can I have my resignation paper and I will sign it right away?"

"Answer me."

"No, you answer me," I fired back and went near him. I then handed him my left hand with my open palm, ready to accept the resignation paper from him. But he did not even pay attention to my palm and continued to stare at my eye. If stares could only melt, I am already nothing in front of him.

"Come on, Talia. I am asking why," he said and shook his head a little. "Why? You seemed so mad at me. We were cool back then before we went back here."

My lips slowly rose. "Ask yourself why."

He stopped for a moment, as if thinking what he have done wrong and I ended up like this. Then finally, he was able to think of a reason that I have been wanting for him to recall and explain about it to me. I mean, even if there is no us, I still deserve explanation because he fooled me and he did not hesitate to play with my feelings. How I hate what he have done to me.

"Look, Tal -"

"It is Miss Hernandez," I cut him off and smiled like everything is fine. That is when he stared more at my eyes just to see what is hiding behind my smiles and behind my eyes. That is pain. He saw me in pain and it is because of him.

He pursed his lips and gulped, making his Adam's apple to move. "I'm sorry."

I forced a laugh. "You meant that?"

"I am sorry because I hurt you," he said sincerely and stared through my soul. "I am not cheating on you, I am not doing wrong."

"Yeah, that is not cheating because there is no even "us", but you know what? I expected more from you, and that is the thing I regret a lot. I trusted you and you just broke and ruined that trust I have never give to anyone."

He reached for my hand. He held it tightly and I just looked at it. He stood up, held my chin, and made me look up at him. Now, we are facing each other but his table amid. "You should have wait for me to go out of my room and continued to witness what is happening."

"That will just break me."

"Tal -"

"It will break me not because I love you, but because you have my trust but then, you just did that," I shrugged my shoulders after I uttered that sentence. He then cupped my face, making me to look away from him.

"Tal, look at me," he stated."Look at me, can you? I will show you how I am being loyal with you."

I have no choice but to meet his serious eyes. I just showed him my emotionless self and stared through his sincere eyes, as if he is willing to tell me everything just for me to forgive him and give him a chance.

"Tal," he started. I let him talk and I silently and willingly listened. "I pushed her away, okay? You should have stayed and see how annoyed I am especially when she kissed me."

My lips quivered to his honesty. I want to believe that he is lying but he has a point. I was not able to see if he maybe kissed her back or maybe he pushed her away because I closed the door already for me to stop viewing those show that is killing me, like a pointed knife keeping to stab my heart until it turns into pieces and die.

"She is Dara, my parents keeps on pushing me to her and marry her but I can't," he added that made me nod my head. I am quite surprise when he said that "marry her" but now I do understand. He did not flinch when that Dara sat on him because he know that she might tell to his parents what he have done and he will end up being provoked.

I sighed and shook my head inwardly. "I'm sorry."

"Do you believe me? Did I rebuilt your trust?"

I then nodded my head before I looked down my foot. "Yes, I do believe you. Now, I will sign my resignation paper."

"Tal -"

"You fired me."

"Please, I am not serious about that. And can you call me Kiel instead of that fucking Mister Ramirez? Stop sounding cold because it is killing the hell out of me."

I did not answer him and just looked at him instead. He caress my cheeks and looked at me. He was adjusting in hovering down over me because I am just leveling on his shoulders. He then bent more over to give me a kiss but I avoided my lips to him, ending him up to kiss my cheek.

"Sorry again," he apologized for the nth time and heaved a sigh. I then made his hands that is cupping my face off of me and looked at him with a faint smile planting on my lips.

"I have to go now. Where is my resignation paper?"

He clenched his jaw, "Do not take everything serious, Talia. Do not resign and do not leave me here, understood?"

"I need rest," I said seriously, making him to stop for a moment. "I am kinda tired and it seems like something is off. Maybe I will just help you to look for another secretary that is a good one, far more better than me. I am sorry but I can not take this now."

He ended up agreeing. He can see that I am exhausted and I am not in my very mood. I am decided, though. I will not regret this anytime soon.

"Alright, have some rest, Talia."

"Thank you," I smiled at him, a warm smile. He then responded to me a sentence that made my heart to flatter.

"Rest and come back to me, hmm? I will wait for you."
