Rebecca’s POV

For the sake of love and endurance, I watched how Micah ate the whole of it all right in my front. He said nothing while he ate, just the hum sound of how yummy the food was.

While he ate, I was on my phone still texting with Natasha.

“Do you mean it?!” Natasha texted back, shocked at all I told her.

“Yes, he ate the whole of it. Are you sure you know this guy?! Are you sure he is whom you say he is?!”

Natasha paused for a while before I saw the italic written text that read, “Natasha is typing” in the inbox space. And about three seconds later:

“I am sorry, Rebecca. It’s been years since we have seen. Could be that he changed?!”

While I was about to reply back to Natasha, “So, tell me about you!” Micah suddenly voiced after he had eaten the whole meal and drank the bottle of wine, then wiped his mouth with a tissue.

If I would be overthinking this, I’d say conveniently that he wasn’t here to look for love, or better to say, that he was not here to attempt a try at love

Rebecca's POVThree days into his medications, and we were already seeing improvement. I could tell by the way his puffy eyes had gone down, and his sclera was now as clear as it should be.Micah also looked happier. He wasn’t binge eating anymore but instead eating at the right time, like a healthy person should. This reminded me of a proverb: you never find someone perfect; you help them become the perfect version of themselves. And I was glad that I had helped Micah reach that point. Now, it was time to nurture our love and let it soar even higher.Micah and I had planned this cinema date since the first time we met. There was a horror movie showing first, followed by Titanic.Micah was the kind of man who loved horror films, while I was a simple woman who preferred romance. Since we had different preferences, we decided to compromise—we would watch both movies together. That was what love was all about, right?Micah came to pick me up from home. He didn’t own a car, but I didn’t m

Gabriel’s POVThe system voice blared suddenly. I was just about to go to sleep, but the voice blared?I didn’t sleep all through the night. My eyes became puffy. I was thinking all through about how my life would have improved if I hadn’t taken those poor decisions.I rose to my feet, knowing fully well that since the system voice blared, I didn’t have any time to get ready. The cell bar would be opened almost immediately, and I must step out of my cell if I didn’t want any trouble with the jailers.Just as I thought, the bar opened by itself as they had opened it from their control room, and immediately, I stepped out of the cell.My eyes were tired, reddish too. But what could I do?I walked and joined the queue that was starting up at the door to the heck of these cells. And right there, I was able to be the fifth person in the queue and the fifth person in this manner to get into the prison yard. The sun came out early today. And with this, I wondered what it could be by the time

Gabriel’s POV“Bang!” A gunshot sounded immediately. My heart dropped instantly. The loudness of the shot was too loud. I didn’t know a gun was usually this loud when it didn’t have a silencer fixed on it.I shivered like my soul left my body. I was on the ground, and I raised my hands.I knew either one of the jailers or the inmate had shot against the inmate. My heart continued to pound. Was that how prisoners were killed like a fly here?I raised my shivering head a bit up and opened my eyes. I saw that the same way I fell to the ground and raised my hands, every other inmate had done the same.Everyone, including Luke and Gomelo, had surrendered. No one was tough enough at the hearing of the sudden gunshot.“To the mess hall, everyone!” The system blared immediately, and as such, none of us waited before we stood up to our feet.My heart was still beating, but I sure wasn’t the only one. When we all rose to our feet, we all tried to look around to see who got shot. But there was n

Rebecca’s POVIt’s been a while since I tasted ice cream. But trust me when I said this was one of the best I had taken all my life. After Micah and I licked the first ones we bought, we bought another, the same flavors and then, buying one more, another flavor. After we licked all of that too, we headed to Micah’s bike, and he rode me home.Getting down at my gate, I watched how my security bowed to me in their distance. But they didn’t come near. They understood I was giving love a second chance, so none would question Micah or do other sorts of security checks on him.I turned back and was heading towards my gate slowly, almost walking through it when I saw that Micah had not started his bike and rode away. Was he missing me too much already?I turned to look at him and saw that he sank his head into his bike hands like a man defeated by worries.Quickly, like a concerned partner, I walked over to him. I placed my hands on his back and leaned my face closer to him.“Is something wr

Rebecca’s POVMy eyes pour out in a meow of confusion. No matter how I thought about Micah’s statement, I did not come to understand it even when the words seemed to be so straightforward.“What do you mean?” I asked him as I placed my hands on his knees. He looked at me. His eyes had become so watery. However, it was at this moment my chef came back into the living room to bring him his juice.I knew he wouldn’t like to be seen in the way he was. So, before my chef walked halfway into the living room, I raised my hands up.She understood the silent order and returned back into the kitchen. Just then, Micah opened up to me.“I owe money, and they are after my life,” he said.Still, I didn’t understand where he was coming from. What did he mean by he owed money and they were after his life? The way Natasha spoke of him to me, he seemed like a person who wouldn’t encounter dangerous people in all of his life. He should be living a cool and peaceful life.“Who are they? And how did you s

Gabriel’s POVGomelo burst into an episode of laughter suddenly, and I wondered what happened. It was as though he realized that the number of inmates behind Luke was far more than the number of inmates behind him.So when they fought, there was a high chance Luke was going to win. It didn’t matter if Gomelo’s men had weapons or not.“You win. But I will keep an eye on him!” Gomelo said after his episode of wicked laughter.“He is far too sweet to ignore,” he added, then winked at me as he waved with both hands to his men.“Let’s go, guys,” he said. When he winked at me, my heart sank. I didn’t need anyone to tell me what he meant by I was far too sweet to ignore. He r*ped me the other day, and certainly, I was an inmate who had never done anal sex before. My anus was still tight, and this sensation he felt while he did it was far too enjoyable for him. Not like I was entirely shocked by this, but it was evident that she was indifferent about me now.If it were the Rebecca that I knew, even if she couldn’t help, you’d see her putting in the effort, trying to help you out, bringing suggestions on what you could do to get out of the fatal situation. But that she ended the call at the mention of my name? She had sabotaged anything that had to do with me. I was her past, and her past I would always be. I did not matter anymore. My heart raced. Gabriel’s POVI quickly rolled aside. Seeing the speed and the strength Luke rolled into the swing he was coming down with his arm, I knew if the sharpened spoon should mistakenly touch me, then I’d be damned. It was going to sink into my skin like a knife, and it was going to be very fatal. As I rolled to the side. “Where you running, loser!” Luke yelled. He moved on his knees towards me, his face rigid. He looked like there was nothing that was going to stop him from using the spoon on me.On the other hand, his crew were laughing hysterically now. They enjoyed how I was running from Luke and how he chased me.When I reached the wall, I was right beside the latrine. This particular one was full of shit as it was not flushed. The breath stunk, yet, it did not matter at this moment. What mattered was Luke holding a weapon to use against me.“He is going to kill me. And there’d be nothing that will happen right after that,” I thought as I remembered Dr. Rosemary’s words again. This was

  • Beyond The Billionaire’s Betrayal   Chapter 115 Judge Hilar Judgement

Judge Hilar’s POVI sighed as I listened to Attorney David’s arguments. He had hit the nail on the head, leaving no room for a contrary opinion. Mr. Micah, without a doubt, should be sentenced to life in prison with every fiber of strength the law permits. However, as a judge, I could not allow emotions to dictate my judgment. The law was not based on sentiment but on logic and fairness. Even when all fingers pointed at Mr. Micah, my duty was to ensure that those fingers were justified before delivering a verdict. A mistake in judgment could cost an innocent person their future, and I could not allow that to happen under my watch. With this thought in mind, I looked up at the courtroom. "Thank you, Attorney David," I said first, acknowledging his argument. Then, I shifted my attention to the documents spread before me. These were files submitted to my desk by Attorney David and Attorney Deborah at the beginning of this argument via the bailiff. Each document contained crucial informat

Each word she spoke tightened the noose around my neck, making my fate feel inevitable.“Your Honor, if it pleases the court, I would like to invite Chef Mirabel herself to the stand,” Attorney David announced, his voice firm and unwavering. My heart pounded in my chest, my anxiety reaching its peak. This was the moment of truth—one that would drown me in the most pitiful state of my life.At this instance, I wished I could turn back the hands of time, erase every trace of my meeting with Rebecca. She was the root of all my misfortunes. If only I had never met her, maybe—just maybe—I would still be living my life the way I wanted, preying on victims too weak to stand up for themselves. As my thoughts spiraled, I barely registered Mirabel stepping forward.“Do you swear to tell nothing but the truth?” Attorney David as

Micah’s POVThe moment the video stopped playing, my mind went blank.I couldn’t think. I couldn’t speak.I was already bracing myself for the inevitable—for the judge to pronounce my judgment. The video was gory, violent, and disturbingly dark. It was so graphic that I struggled to believe Annabella had managed to capture everything that happened that night. But there was no mistaking it.My face was there. Clear as day.Her face was there too. There was no way around it. No excuse that could erase what was already being broadcasted to every single person in this courtroom.I felt suffocated."Mr. Micah."Attorney David’s voice sliced through the heavy silence. My pulse quickened.I kept my gaze lowered, refusing to meet his eyes. I didn’t need to look to know what expression he wore. I could hear the smugness in his voice before I even saw it on his face.He stepped closer. “I want to believe that video was AI-EDITED, right?” he teased, leaning against my stand, his words dripping w

You wanna tell me you’re not fucking enjoying this?!!!” my voice cut through the recording like a blade, silencing the lady.***I opened my eyes widely in horror.A cold shiver ran down my spine, making my fingers tremble slightly as I gripped the edge of the table before me. The courtroom was suffocatingly silent, yet the weight of the countless stares boring into me felt heavier than any noise could have been.I needed no one to tell me I was doomed. When did this lady make the voice recording?I struggled to recollect the exact moment. My mind raced, flipping through my memories like pages in a book, but the answer was already known to m

Micah’s POV“Objection Overruled!” Judge Hilar voiced immediately. And with this,“Mr. Micah, please approach the stand,” Attorney David gestured, his voice carrying the weight of authority. My heart pounded against my chest, an anxious rhythm that echoed through my entire body. I forced my feet forward, each step feeling heavier than the last. What question was Attorney David going to ask me? What angle was he going to take? Was this about defining sadomasochism, or was he going to twist the narrative, making it seem like my sexuality had driven me to attempt rape? Before I could steady my breath, one of the court officials—a woman dressed in a well-tailored brown suit with neatly pressed pants—stepped forward from the corner of the courtroom. She moved with calculated precision, her every motion exuding professionalism. In her hands, she carried two hardcover books that looked like legal documents at first glance. But deep down, I knew what they were.“Which belief do you adhere to,

Micah’s POVI couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw David Cooper enter the courtroom. His footsteps as he walked down the aisle were full of tension.Everyone was shocked. Who wouldn’t know David Cooper? The best lawyer in the whole country? My heart raced as he continued to approach. And when he approached the bench, said his name to the judge, it was as if my heart dropped into the deepest pit.My hands trembled as if I was infected by a shaking disease. I was sweaty all over. Before I met Rebecca, I had watched cases David Cooper argued on TV.He was a popular attorney that they used his life-courting arguing cases to teach young and upcoming attorneys how to do it right. And as such, his cases were always shown on TV for free. The cases he argued were brutal. The defendant, if he were prosecuting, always landed in a life sentence or was sentenced to be killed by fire.I opened my eyes widely as I remembered the final judgment a court pronounced on a case.Would I be judged to be kil

Rebecca’s POVWe arrived at the Supreme Court of the Country of Manderin. We had been duly informed that Micah’s hearing at the court was today, and hence, his fate would be sealed before the day was over. The weight of the moment settled heavily upon my shoulders, but I embraced it with unwavering determination. This was the day justice would be served. In light of this, we had hired a prosecutor who would prosecute Micah for his crime—David Cooper. One of the best attorneys in the whole of Manderin, talk less of Mandena. His reputation preceded him, a man feared by many in the legal profession, admired by even more.I had personally paid to hire him. A whopping sum of 400 grand. Just to put Micah in his place and make him understand that there are consequences for every action and inaction. To attempt a r*pe was a crime against humanity, and definitely, he must learn to put his dick in his trousers from now on.The moment we arrived at the court, I saw him darting a fearful look at

Micah’s POVMorning came as if it were never going to. The night was so long, and I was hell frozen to almost death. Every second that passed felt like an eternity, and the darkness of the cell only made it worse. My body ached from the cold, my muscles stiff, and my mind foggy from the lack of sleep.I never knew that Mandena was a city with so much coldness. Each time, I had always been in the room with the heater turned on, sheltered from the biting night air. But tonight, no heater was turned on. No thick blankets to wrap myself in. Just the unrelenting chill that seeped into my bones, making it feel as though I was locked inside a freezer, struggling to keep warm with nothing but my own body heat. The station was eerily quiet. Most of the police had retired home for the night to be with their families, leaving only a few behind. The ones who stayed behind weren’t the same officers from the daytime. These men were different—fully dressed in black, wearing masks that obscured their

I immediately voiced before he could say anything else.“So, you think you can afford a lawyer, huh?” he chuckled darkly, his eyes narrowing as he sized me up. Then, with a casual wave of his hand, he turned to the others. “Give him his phone for ten minutes,” he ordered, his voice carrying an authoritative edge.“Let him get himself a lawyer. But monitor him. We don’t want any funny business,” the officer warned.Funny business? Like what? Did they think I was going to miraculously break out of the cell? Escape from the police station when I knew full well that I’d be caught again? That any attempt at running would only worsen my already dire situation?I stayed silent, my thoughts swirling in my head as I remained seated on the cold concrete bench. A few seconds later, another officer approached the cell, his gaze unreadable. Through the metal bars, he stretched out his hand,
