Chapter 7

Her eyes were red as she listened to my final words, tears rolling down her face.

When I finished speaking, she looked furious, like a lioness protecting her cub.

"You’ve thought about everyone else, but what about yourself? Have you even considered your own needs?"

She was crying uncontrollably, completely different from her usual polished, elegant self.

I wanted so badly to wipe the tears from the corners of her eyes and tell her not to cry.

I was just tired.

I was just going to another world.

But she kept crying for me, and for the unfairness I had endured.

I could not comfort her, though.

Because I was so tired.

……

I closed my eyes, thinking I would next open them on the road to the afterlife.

But instead, after my death, I remained in this world as a wandering spirit.

I watched as Anna collapsed on top of my body, screaming in agony,

"Emma, you heartless woman, you’re not allowed to die! The baby is still waiting for you!"
