CHAPTER FOUR : DAY ONE

The sun rays fell straight unto my face. God! Who the hell took the curtains off? This is so annoying. I covered my face with the blanket and slept back. I didn't realize the fact that I am going to work from today. WORKING! 

"ESHA!! WAKE UP! It's 30 minutes past 7!" My mom screamed at me, standing by the door with her hand crossed, staring at me.

My eyes flew open immediately and I was no longer sleepy. I came back into my senses and had a memory of that nutcase screeching TIWARI, PUNCTUALITY, HONESTY and for a second I felt it was the end . I dived out of my bed, pushing everything out of my way including my sister and entered the washroom. 

I brushed my teeth and took a bath. I regret for not being a morning person. I can sleep all day. Moreover I am so used to wake up at 12 noon. Now this sucks and I got to do it all day from now on. 

I wore a black jumpsuit embellished with a golden belt with a pair of matching earrings. I put some kajal for my eyes to make myself looked a bit decent. I tied a french braid for my long brown hair. I looked decent enough for my first day work. 

So I head out of the room. 

My mom looked at me like she would disown me anytime soon.

Ruhi almost choked on her breakfast. 

My dad as the sweet man he was, put the watch he bought for me on my wrist and kissed me, wishing me all the best. I simply smiled back.

I looked at the watch and notice the it is already seven fifty three I had to be there at nine. I didn't have enough time to eat so I just ran like that wearing my new black shoes.

The bus ride was horrible. I am not a tall person indeed so this seemed an advantage to people and they were squeezing me to death. God!

I finally reached the "Tiwari groups" headquarters aka The Maniac's Office and made my way up there. The same clean floor, the cold chilling atmosphere gave me goosebumps.

Soon I found Layla smiling her teeth out to me. She told me to reach the third floor and meet Ms. Veronica. So I took the lift and reached up there. 

The whole floor was so silent and everyone there had their eyes on the system. No one smiled or even looked at each other. Everyone worked in a coordinated manner. Why so perfect? 

How am I supposed to find that Veronica here? There are almost hundred people working in this floor. I walked around the floor and I founded his room. Thank goodness he wasn't there. Now I gained enough confidence. I cleared my throat. 

"Ms.Veronicaaaaaaaaa......." I screamed till my vocals would burst. 

To my surprise no one looked up. Everyone had their eyes sticking to the computer. I looked here and there and found only one women whose eyes wasn't directed towards the computer, but towards me. 

She came walking to me and by now I was sure of her identity. 

"Ms. Esha Varnav?" She asked with a confused look on her face. 

"Yes that's me. You are veronica isn't it?" I asked with the same looks 

"Veronica Carolson" She gave me a smile. 

She seemed like a kind person. I had a feeling we'd get along well with each other. She told me to follow her and so I did. She brought me into a room where there were stacks of files. Why am I here? NO!

"This is the file room and you have to handle all the files here after" She tells handing me a bunch of files from one of the racks. 

God! The stalked files in my hands look like the extra large KFC burger. Damnnn!

She then explains about the pending files and other reports related to it. I wasn't basically interested in this so I just started mumbling my long lost nursery rhymes. 

"Esha shut up!" She said looking out. 

What is she even looking at? And why does she seem so scared. 

"Sir came. Enough of mumbling songs!" She again said giving me a pinch. 

"Ouch!" I turn back and find him coming. 

His eyes.... Damn

"Follow me now! Walk fast" Veronica whispered

"This is Esha Varnav" said veronica to a group of people sitting there.

"Esha this is Kiara, Neva and Huma" said Veronica pointing fingers at each one of them. I simply smiled at them. I felt I was going to do just fine here.

"Take your seat quickly ." Veronica whispered once again. 

I stared at the empty chair, and took the seat. I was glad Veronica's seat was next to mine. 

Right then, Aadhvik entered and everyone there stood up and Veronica pulls my arms and even I did stand up with not much happy look in my face. He just glares at me and walks towards his room and slammed the door off. 

Now I started with my Day One work and I was too immersed in the work that i didn't even notice the time. Suddenly the phone buzzes and it was loud enough for the silent room. 

"Put it on silent or switch it off. If he finds you use your phone then I can promise you real danger." Veronica whispered

I couldn't restrain myself from checking the phone so I slid it under the desk and unlocked the screen and found that it was Dua. Why is she texting me? I opened her message.

"You donkey! I am coming to pick you up from office today and we would go to chocolate shop. Don't worry I told your mom that you will be with me. I will be in your office sharp 5:15. Be ready on time for at least ones." 

God! I love this women. 

Before I could text her back with endless heart emojis I could sense a bad vibe around me. I looked up to only find this man, this one horrible person in my life giving the most evil stare ever. Shit! It is Aadhvik... 

His eyes.... This guy doesn't deserve such good eyes I swear. No matter how evil and horrible he is, his eyes always caught my sight and made me admire him. 

ESHA STOP CHECKING HIM OUT!!!

"Si-Sir-Sir Sorry Sir" I stammered 

He stars at me and looks down at my phone. I am screwed! He crossed his hands giving me a smirk, "Ms.Esha Varnav...." he started. I knew it was gonna end bad for me.

"You will be paid 50,000 hereafter. I hope you don't repeat it again. You can now switch off your phone and get back to work now." His deep voice said in the most kindest way possible. 

Didn't I tell it is gonna end bad for me. Why would he reduce my 10,000 just like that. That too every month he is gonna pay me 50000? Can someone please get this guy checked. 

I turned towards veronica to complain but she was quick, "I told you Esha" that one word was enough to zip my mouth. I looked around and thank god no one was staring at me. I turned back to take my seat and started working. 

I completed updating all the pending files and now I went to the file room to check out the file arrangement. I didn't like the arrangement to be honest. So I thought of rearranging everything and it took me almost 4 hours. Yes, I am that slow when it comes to working. The whole room was rearranged and it seemed perfect. Just then the clock strikes five and everyone started leaving. 

So I went to my desk, took all my belongings and was ready to leave. Veronica's cab came and she said me a bye and left. Now almost everyone was leaving and even I moved out of the office waiting for the lift. Just when I boarded the lift I saw his room light on. Maybe he didn't leave I guess. Before i could think further Dua called me and said she is waiting down. 

What? Being my best friend when did Dua learn to be punctual. Surprising. I reached the ground floor and found his car still parked there. Now I was sure he is still in office, but there wasn't any driver. Maybe he drives by himself I guess. Who even cares? 

"Esha what are you thinking" Dua screamed from the car 

i just waved my hand and boarded her car. We had the random fun talk as always and I told her about my 10,000 deduction and she has absolutely no reaction in her face. 

"What is wrong with you? Why are you not reacting?" I asked 

"I am not surprised by anything now. You will never change!" she said rolling her eyes. She was pissed at me. I can see it in her eyes. We went to out favorite chocolate shop and I was completely not in a mood. But still i managed to smile and enjoy as much as i can. 

Finally I reached home and entered inside to find my parents and Ruhi having dinner. 

"Eat Esha, where are you going?" my mom asked more in a worried tone 

"No Ma, I am just so tired." I pretended to smile 

"Let her go sleep. Leave her" My dad interrupted. 

Why do I have such a loving family. I turned towards Ruhi sitting in one corner with her phone and her dinner plate. She saw me and understood what I meant. I then went inside the room Ruhi followed me after some minutes. 

"What happened? Tell me Esha" she was too curious Because she knew I did something which I shouldn't. 

"He cut my 10000" I said not having a pleasant look in my face. Obviously 10,000 is quite a big amount for me. 

Ruhi too had zero expression on her face. God! Why is everyone around me like this. 

"Esha you can never change" telling this one sentence she walks towards her desk. 

"Ruhi.... If he deducts my salary even your super secretive illegal pocket money from me will be reduced!" I said giving a smirk. 

I swear if I had my phone next to me I would capture her reaction. That deadly it was. 

"My dear sister. Please! Please! Esha... Listen to me. Don't do anything like that Esha" she came and hugged me. 

"Eyyy!!! Move who are you? Esha would never change isn't it?.Go away!" I yelled. 

"Esha no please Esha please" it was so funny seeing her beg to me. I can do this all day long with her. 

Just then my mom entered, 

"Why you feel so tired? Are you fine? Why you didn't eat? Shall I bring you dinner? Shall I fed you?" She asked questions after questions. 

She came next to me and checked whether I have fever or not. My mom seems to worry a lot. 

"No Ma, I am fine. I don't want dinner. I am so tired after work. I will have good sleep now" I smiled and my mom turned back to step out. But I don't know what did she think but she turned again towards me, 

"Esha, how was your day today? Why you seem so annoyed?" She asked with the most suspicious look on her face. I am doubting whether my mom knew mind reading or not. Well, I am bad at hiding my facial expressions so it is possible for anyone to judge my mood just by looking at my face. 

Now how am I gonna answer my mom. Esha don't let anything out. Close your rubber mouth at least for once. 

No! I won't tell anything to her about and particularly about my 10,000 deduction. I can't afford to be sixty feet underground. 

I simply smiled and said it was good. 

My mom still was not convinced. She was scanning me to death. Before she could begin with her investigation further, she got a call from Chaaya aunty, my mom's dearest younger sister. Thank goodness I am saved. Thank you Chaaya Aunty. 

"Thank god! You didn't let anything out" Ruhi smiled. I knew the reason behind her smile. I knew it. She is just portraying herself as a good sister so as to get her pocket money when she wanted. Ha! I am clear enough. 

"Behave with me properly till Friday and then let me think of giving you money" I said it more in a way of order. 

"Sure. I will Esha!" She tried to keep her face as innocent as she could trying to gain some mercy from me. 

But for now, I wasn't ready for anything. Life felt so stupid. I don't even know what it is all going to end. This job is not permanent. This guy can fire me anytime, so I have to keep an alternative job ready but how will I? Please God, help me out this time. 

Everything annoyed me for today and I was done by whatever happened. All I wanted now is a good peaceful sleep that would make me forget everything for some time.
