Chapter Ninety

Sande stared at Eds, speechless. She couldn’t believe what she had just heard. It couldn’t be true. She didn’t want to accept that Sinjin could be so heartless.

"No," Sande shook her head. "He couldn’t have done that to you. Are you sure?" she demanded.

"Why would I make something like that up?" Eds replied, her irritation showing. "I know what I saw. The room reeked of scotch and..." Her voice faltered as she sucked in a shaky breath.

“I called a lawyer to ask about an annulment, but he said it's not possible. I can only file for divorce after two years, and we need to have lived separately for at least a year."

Sande tried not to believe it, but she knew Eds wouldn’t lie about something so serious. Her disbelief quickly turned into rage, then deep disappointment, as she realized she had put Sinjin on a pedestal. She had believed he was perfect for her best friend, but no one is perfect.
