Chapter Eighty Eight

Rhett assisted Sinjin up the stairs to his bedroom, with Mallucia following behind. Once they reached the room, Rhett opened the door and ushered Sinjin inside, while Mallucia shut the door behind them. Rhett guided Sinjin to the bed and helped him sit down.

"Thank you, Rhett. I’ll take it from here," Mallucia said.

"I’ll call Mrs. Bale..." Rhett began, but Mallucia cut him off.

"I can take care of him," she insisted firmly.

Rhett nodded in acknowledgment and left the room, considering calling Eds to inform her about Sinjin but deciding against it, knowing his boss wouldn’t appreciate it. He descended the stairs and ran into Mrs. Bale.

"Was that the boss you brought in?" she asked.

"Yes," Rhett replied.

"I should see to his care," Mrs. Bale said, brushing past Rhett to head upstairs.

"Miss Goldstein insisted on taking care of him," Rhett said, placing a restraining hand on her arm.

"Why would she do that? She’s not his wife," Mrs. Bale said, frowning.
