ADRIANNA
This was never the type of life I wished for. I wanted a perfect life, a perfect marriage life, a perfect family, I wanted to be happy. It seemed like fate was against my wishes. I dragged my suitcase around the city, looking for a place to stay. I had some savings with me, I just had to find a good apartment to stay in. I was not sure if that was going to be possible, since it was already six in the evening. After a while of walking, I sighted a hotel that looked very much okay to stay the night. I walked into the lobby, to the front desk. I asked the receptionist what rooms were available, and she told me there were single rooms, double rooms, twin rooms and a suite, welcoming me with a smile. I returned the smile back to her, feeling a little bit motivated. I booked a single room to stay for the night. I took the keys from the receptionist, making my way to my designated room. The room looked very much okay, although it was not really spacious. The room held just a single sized bed with its dressings, a table and chair by the right and a small wardrobe by the left. I settled in, dropping down my suitcase and immediately hopped on the bed, the soft texture calming my nerves. My plan was to walk around in the morning to see if I could get an affordable apartment to stay in. I laid on the bed, sleep soon taking over after some minutes. The gentle glow from the window woke me up, the rays of the sun landing on my face softly, making me flutter my eyes open. I yawned as I stood up from the bed. I quickly went into the bathroom to shower, coming out after a few minutes. Dressing up was quite easy, as I wanted to wear something very comfortable, I knew I was going to walk for a while, so I had to be prepared. I wore simple black joggers, with a white baggy top that went so well with my joggers. I styled my outfit with a white canvas, adding a cool effect to my outfit. When I was done dressing up, I took my suitcase out of the room with me and clocked out of the hotel. The sun was hot, but not so hot that I could not walk under it. Thankfully, I applied some sunscreen before I left the hotel. In the next two hours, I spent them looking for apartments, most of them were okay, but not up to my taste. It was either the bathroom was too disgusting, or the apartment was too exposed to the city, facing the crowded places directly, and I didn’t want that. I sighed, already getting tired and frustrated. Will I have to go back to the hotel? I thought to myself. There was no progress, for about three hours that I had been outside, until a woman walked up to me, asking me if I was in need of an apartment, and that she has somewhere that she thinks I would like. “Really?” I said to her eager to see the place she was talking about. My eyes lit up in excitement when she nodded her head. I immediately signaled for her to lead the way, as I dragged my box behind me. The work to the apartment was quite long, as it took about twenty five minutes before we got there. The building before me was large and beautiful. As we stepped into the compound,I was immediately drawn to the charming exterior of Willow Creek Residences. The building was painted in cream colour, which went so well with the quiet environment. We took a walk round the building and just the outside alone almost convinced me to instantly pay for the apartment without even checking how it looked like inside. The woman who brought me to the apartment, alerted me to come into the building to check it out and i instantly decided that following her to willow creek residences was one of the best decisions i have ever made. The moment i stepped into the resident building, i was immediately greeted by the warmth and comfort, i knew i was in love. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, with comfortable seating and fresh flowers adding a pop of colour. The lady, who said she was an agent, led me to the elevator and we headed up to the fifth floor. Stepping out of the elevator, i was taken to a beautiful apartment that felt like home from the moment i walked in. The flood of natural light pouring in through the massive windows made the whole space feel alive and vibrant. The open-plan living area was like a blank canvas, just begging for me to add my own personal touches and make it my own. The kitchen was a total dream, with sleek appliances and more counter space than I knew what to do with. I could practically smell the freshly baked cookies and hear the sizzle of Sunday morning pancakes. And the bedroom? It was like a cozy little retreat, tucked away from the rest of the world. I adored the huge closet and the fact that it was nice and quiet – the perfect place to escape with a good book or a relaxing nap. As I explored every nook and cranny, I noticed all the thoughtful little details that made this place truly special. From the built-in shelves to the stylish light fixtures, it was clear that the apartment had been designed with love and care. I could totally see myself living there, making memories and turning that place into my own little slice of heaven. It was the perfect combination of style, comfort, and functionality, I knew I would have been crazy to let it slip away! When i was done checking the apartment out, i asked the agent how much i could pay for the apartment per year and the amount was actually low and affordable. "How much did you say this apartment is for per year again?" I asked her as i walked through the living room, taken in the interior designs. "Eight thousand four hundred dollars" she replied to me. I took a visit to the kitchen once more to admire the background and it just brought warmth to my heart. I walked back to the living room, towards the agent. "Okay, I'll take it" i said to her with a smile on my face. "I'll like to wire the money to you, can i have your details?" I added as i brought out my phone from my bag. "Sure" she replied to me. She called her details, and i immediately transferred the money to her. She was about to leave, when i asked her if i wasn't going to sign any lease agreement. She tells me i would get that tomorrow, as soon as possible and then she hastily left. I wasn't sure what i was feeling immediately she left, but i knew i was feeling a bad vibe. I ignored it, happy that i had a beautiful place to stay. I was already tired from all the walk I had to do today, so after she left, I took a refreshing bath and went straight to bed, drifting off to sleep as soon as I lay down.ADRIANNA My hands trembled as I took it in. This could only mean one thing. Jasmine had been pretending all along. But for what reason? Why would she even think of doing something like that? Faking a pregnancy?Did Raymond even know about this? He had to, right? Maybe this was their ploy to step on my toes, thinking that it would hurt me to know that Jasmine was pregnant for Raymond. No wonder I found it weird, that all of a sudden, she announced that she was pregnant and they were even married, just a few weeks after finding out that they betrayed me.Somehow, everything wasn’t adding up, and I needed to figure out what this was all about. The vibration from my phone jolted me out of my thoughts. I didn’t even know I had spaced out for that long. I picked up my phone, only to find a message from Ethan, that read ‘you need to see this’I hurriedly gathered the pictures together, fixing them properly and putting them back into the envelope. I closed the car door and adjusted my hair
ADRIANNA “Then we better start moving” The words rolled out of my mouth. Sweat trickled down my face, and I dabbed it off with the handkerchief that I held tightly in my hand. I felt anxious, like my heart was beating faster than usual. My thoughts kept circling around what we would find on Raymond’s phone. I really hoped it was something concrete we could use against Jasmine.Ethan nodded, and then walked over to his bed. “I just have to pick something” he picked up his wallet, and walked back to where i stood. “Alright, let’s go” he held my right hand and pulled me behind him. We got to the garage, where Roland and Darka were already waiting for us, standing beside the range rover. Darka walked over to the side, opening the door for me, which I immediately stepped in. Ethan walked to the other side and hopped in.***The ride to the station was fast and quiet. Each second that passed, I couldn’t help the anxiety that creeped all over me. We got there in less than twenty minutes,
ADRIANNA I slumped down on my bed, facing the ceiling, lost in thoughts. Now that Anna had been arrested, it now dawned on me that this was real. The person I had given my trust to had betrayed me without even thinking twice. I just couldn’t wrap my head around it. Anna? The vivid memory of her giving something to Jasmine in the photo haunted me. Anna had been working for Jasmine all this time?‘But why?’ Was the question I had no answer to.I sat up and sighed. I turned to the left, where the envelope sat. I brought it closer and opened it up, bringing out the file in it. I read through the will, still shocked that Theresa had willed her house and belongings to me. My hand grazed the content, where her name was written.I sure did miss her. If she was still here, I'm sure she would have been jumping in excitement at the mention of Liam.“I miss you Theresa, so much…” I said softly, a light smile evident on my face.“I wish you were here to see” I lightly grazed the will, and sniff
ADRIANNA I clung to the hem of my dress with my right hand as I stared down at the pictures I had dropped on the table. It felt like a dream. It didn’t feel real. I looked around, staring at Roland, Darka and Ethan. They all had a look on their faces that read that they were as shocked as I was too.‘Where did it all go wrong?’ I questioned silently, staring hard at the pictures. How could she? No matter how hard I tried to wrap my head around it, I just couldn’t understand why!Why would she do this? Why would Anna do this? I had never done anything wrong to her, none that I knew of. I had always treated her like my sister, like someone I could tell things to.I cleaned off the sweat that trickled down my chin with the back of my palm and picked up the pictures. I began to walk towards the door, ignoring the calls Ethan made. I only had one thought in mind, and that was to confront Anna. I needed to figure out what all these were all about.I walked out of the study room, and down t
ADRIANNA “Roland and Darka are with the files,” Ethan said.“Darka said they found out who the snitch is,” he added, and my whole body became stiff. So this was really true? We really did have a snitch in our home?“Well who is it?” I asked, my tone laced with worry.“He didn’t say” he shook his head and shrugged.“I guess we’ll have to find out when we get home,” he continued.I stood up almost immediately. “Well we have to be on our way then” He stood up too. I rearranged the papers back into the envelope, and picked up my phone. We walked out of the room, and Ethan shut the door behind us.Just before we left the house, I grabbed my purse that was on the dining table.Ethan opened the car door for me, and I hopped in, anxiousness creeping through my bones. My hands were sweaty. He turned to the driver’s side and hopped in, started the engine and drove out and away from her house. I stared out the window, my mind reeling with different thoughts.Just who could it be? Who would sn
ADRIANNA I stood in front of her door, hesitant to go in. Ethan gently rubbed my shoulders and I nodded. I grabbed the doorknob and slowly twisted it open. I took a step in, darkness enveloping me.Everywhere was dark, lights off, curtains drawn. This made my heart twist in pain.My hand hit the wall, where the switch laid and I flipped it on, light illuminating everywhere. I walked towards the dining area, while Ethan stayed in the living room.Everything was as it was the last time I came. The table was cleared clean, and the chairs were pushed closer to the table. I dropped my purse on the table gently and walked into the kitchen. Here, it was the opposite. Utensils and ingredients she had used for baking the cake were placed on the counter. Flour was spilled on the flour, and the baking pan she used to bake was still in the sink.It showed how much effort she put into baking the cake, and she didn’t even get to eat it. I closed my eyes and took in a deep breath trying to stop
