Chapter 11

Author: Snail
Over the next year, I started managing one of Dad’s branch companies on my own.

Through it all, Tom stayed by my side. He was always there, laughing, goofing around, and supporting me whenever I needed it.

It wasn’t until my birthday party, where he confessed, that I realized he had feelings for me.

“So when exactly did you start liking me?” I playfully tugged on his ear and asked once we officially got together.

He looked at me with those wide Bambi eyes.

“Back when we played house as kids, you were my pretend bride. I waited so many years for you, but you heartless thing, you totally forgot about me!”

I scratched my nose, a little embarrassed. Who even remembered something like that as a child?

Six months later, we got married.

A year after that, we welcomed our baby girl into the world and became a happy family of three.

The next time I saw Sam was at an industry expo. I was there representing my company, and we locked eyes across the crowd.

However, he wasn’t the same m

When I saw the news, I lost it, desperate to find my fiancé, Sam Johnson, and confront him. However, when I finally did, he still had his arm around Lily Aldrige’s waist. He pulled me aside to where no one else could hear us and said seriously, “The news is fake. Don’t take it to heart. You will always be my wife. Lily is going through a critical point in her graduation process. She can’t afford a scandal right now. You’ll have to bear with it for now.”I stared at the man who was supposed to become my husband, my eyes cold. “So your solution was to twist the truth and let people think the woman getting beaten up in the video is me? And that press conference—you calling Lily your fiancée—was that just to make it look like I was the mistress?”Sam looked away, guilt written all over his face.I was shaking with anger, and just as I raised my hand to slap him, Lily shoved me back. She gasped and threw herself into Sam’s arms. “How could you hit Sam? He’s just helping me out with my

I wandered back home in a daze. Sam and I had been living together for the past six months, and our wedding was supposed to happen in three months. However, I wasn’t even sure if there was a point in going through with it anymore.Without another word, I packed a suitcase, grabbed my things, and walked out. Thankfully, I still had an apartment nearby—the one my mom left me before she passed, filled with her favorite decorations. As I pulled up to the apartment building, thunder cracked across the sky, and moments later, heavy rain started pouring down. The moment I unlocked the front door and stepped inside, I knew something was wrong. My mom’s favorite genuine leather couch cover had been swapped out for a bright pink one, and the little potted plants she gave me were gone, too. The entire apartment had been redecorated in some kind of childish, cartoonish theme. Then, I heard Lily’s laugh coming from the bedroom. Fuming, I stormed over and shoved the door open. Even the bedroom

I didn’t know how long I cried for, but it wasn’t until a dull pain started throbbing in my stomach that I finally snapped out of it.I gently placed my hand over my belly and forced myself to stand.“I’m sorry, baby,” I whispered. “I used to be so excited to meet you, but your father doesn’t love us anymore. He doesn’t deserve to be your dad… and I can’t bring you into a world so full of cruelty.“I’m sorry.”Once I calmed myself down, I threw out everything Sam and Lily had brought into this place. Then, I opened the storage room, only to see everything I held dear had been tossed carelessly onto the floor. The pain in my heart tightened. I knelt down and quietly began picking up the pieces, tears falling as I moved.Three out of five small flower pots were shattered, and the plants inside were nearly dead, barely holding on. My mom’s pure white Persian rug, the one I’d taken such good care of, was now covered in muddy footprints, like someone had stomped on it on purpose. The

“Mary isn’t the only one who doesn’t want this child. I don’t want it either,” I said coldly as I watched Sam’s mom storm out of the room.Sam’s eyes flickered with pain and confusion. He spoke softly, trying to explain. “Amy, please don’t overreact. I’ve told you before. Lily is like my sister. I promised her brother I’d take care of her, and you’re my love, the woman I’m going to marry.”“Oh, so your mom just said that you’re marrying Lily. Congratulations!”“You know that’s not true. Lily’s pregnant, and she’s too physically weak to get an abortion. She’s still in school, and if people find out she’s pregnant before marriage, her reputation will be ruined. The only thing I can do is marry her, have the baby, and then we’ll be done. Please don’t be upset.”“Her reputation? What about my reputation? You know, everyone online’s calling me shameless for 'stealing' someone else’s husband. Doesn’t that matter to you? Sam, I will abort this baby. This is the end of us.” My gaze was fixed o

Panic set in. Everyone scrambled around me, frantically getting me to their family-owned private hospital. The doctor’s face paled when he saw the bloodied mess between my legs.“Sir, the missus has miscarried…”Sam’s face went ashen, and his voice was cold and threatening. “Make sure you save her. If anything happens to this baby, no one will get away with it.”I lost consciousness for an entire day and night. When I finally woke up, I felt weak. Sam was by my bedside, his hand still clutching mine tightly. The moment I moved, he instantly woke up.“Amy, you’re awake! Don’t worry, the baby’s safe!”I stared at him blankly. My hand instinctively rested on my stomach, my emotions a jumbled mess. Could this tiny, stubborn life really have survived?“Sam, let me go. You’re married to Lily now, so just go and be with her. This baby… It shouldn’t even exist in the first place.” My voice was hoarse as I spoke.Sam’s face twisted with anger. He yanked his hand away from mine and snapped, “Amy

Two days later, Sam took Lily abroad for prenatal care, and I was discharged from the hospital and brought back to the villa.I sat on the living room couch, quietly waiting for Mary to show up. Based on what I knew about her, there was no way she’d allow me to keep this baby.Sure enough, Mary arrived that afternoon with her bodyguards.“Take this woman to the hospital now!”“No need. I can walk on my own,” I said. Standing up, I walked straight up to her.“Congratulations. You’ve just killed your grandchild.”Mary looked at me with disdain, and disgust was practically oozing from her eyes.“My grandchild is the one Lily’s carrying. Whoever’s baby is inside of you doesn’t deserve to be born!”“Oh, really?” I stared at her and smiled faintly. “Well, I hope you won’t regret this someday.”So I went to the hospital for the abortion under her watchful eye.As I lay down on the operating table, I could no longer hold back the tears.I’m sorry, baby. Mommy couldn’t protect you.

“I’m Tom. Don’t you remember me, Amy? We used to play together when we were kids!”Then, a timid, skinny little boy from my childhood came to my mind. Who would’ve guessed that he would grow up to be this tall, handsome guy in front of me?Now, he was my dad’s right-hand man, too.“Tom, I remember your family being as successful as the Johnson Group. Why didn’t you stay and take over the family business? Why are you working for my dad, of all people?”I couldn’t wrap my head around it. Sure, his older brother was the heir, but it didn’t make sense for him to end up at my dad’s modest company.“I’ve learned a lot working with your dad. And don’t underestimate him. His company made it into Forbes’ Top 100 this year!”He looked at me, his voice dropping to something softer. “You have a family now—one you can rely on.”Tears spilled down my cheeks before I even realized it. All the grievances I’d been holding in finally broke free. While I was sobbing, Tom worked quickly. That ve

As soon as Sam got back, he rushed straight to the villa. Before he even set foot inside, he shouted, “Amy, I’m home!”However, all of Amy’s things were gone.Inside, Mary was on the sofa, chatting happily with Lisa.“Oh, Sam! Finally, you’re back! Don’t worry about that wretched woman. I already took care of it. Now you can focus on planning your wedding with Lily!“Lily’s already three months along. You two need to get married before her belly starts showing. A baby bump in a wedding dress isn’t a good idea.”“We’ll book the biggest hotel in town,” Lisa chimed in with a proud smile. “We have a lot of family on both sides, and I want my daughter’s wedding to be the event of the year.”“What are you talking about?”Sam stood frozen, as if he’d been struck by lightning.“Your marriage to Lily, of course! You got her pregnant. Don’t tell me you’re still trying to avoid responsibility?” Mary reacted, unhappy with her son’s reaction. “Where is Amy?!” he roared. “I told you my wif

When I finally arrived at my dad’s place, I realized his company had grown over the years to become the largest enterprise in the area.Tom put his work on hold and spent an entire week showing me around. He even mapped out the perfect travel itinerary, so I didn’t have to worry about a single thing except having fun.I forgot the pain from the past few years and all the heartbreak Sam had caused me.With people who truly loved me around, I felt like a happy princess again! However, that lifestyle didn’t last long. A few days later, Dad sat me down and said, “Starting tomorrow, you’re going to learn how to manage the company.”“Why?” I stared at him in disbelief.“Isn’t that what you and Tom are for?”“You’re my only daughter. You can’t keep avoiding responsibility. One day, all of this will be yours. You need to stand tall. Power only means something when you’re the one holding it.”I knew Dad was doing it for my own good. So, even though I wasn’t thrilled, I agreed, starting

I deserve to die!”Sam collapsed onto the couch, his whole body slumped like a man who had lost all his strength. His eyes stared blankly ahead, hollow.Mary and Lily trembled as they opened the envelope. It only took one glance for Lisa to nearly pass out.Mary, on the other hand, erupted.“You filthy bitch!” she screamed, lunging at Lisa. “Get you and your whore of a daughter out of my house! You murdered my grandchild! I’ll kill you!”Lisa panicked, scrambling to pick up the scattered photos before stumbling out of the villa in
