Chapter Two

Xander POV

Xander should be anywhere but here, Heck! He even had meetings to attend but his mom had insisted he come, saying he needed to be there in person.

He shouldn’t have even volunteered to donate to the school this year. He knew his mom wanted him to be here so she could show him all the unmarried singles he needed to meet as if he wanted to.

He straightened the cat mask he had on, he hated the thing, it was the dress code of Aldult for the custom day this year.

He folded his arms, leaning back into the wall where he stood in the corner of the hall, just to be unnoticed but it seemed nothing he ever did seem to go unnoticed.

Xander noticed all the ladies staring at him, even the ones that came with their husbands. Some bit their lips, seductive. Others wanted to talk to him but Xander didn’t want to, he didn’t care what they wanted.

He wanted one woman, and when he had her, he foolishly let her slide from his grasp.

Way to go Xander.

Xander groaned inwardly when he saw one of the ladies approaching. He straightened as she came close.

“Mr. Xander,” she said, sashaying her hips and Xander stared at her coolly.

“Yes?” He said and she smiled. He knew that smile all too well—she wanted him to go all the way with her.

“I am Chloe,” she said and Xander offered a robotic smile.

“Nice to meet you, Chloe, is there anything I can help with,” he said. Chloe leaned in beside him.

“Nothing at the moment Xander. I just you know saw you standing there and wanted to talk to you” she said and Xander's green eyes bore into her brown ones.

“Yeah, thanks, Chloe. But I assure you, that I am not fun to talk with” he smiled for real this time and Chloe giggled.

“I think that’s a lie, Xander,” she said and Xander smiled slowly.

“Are you calling me a liar now, Miss Chloe?” he said. Chloe let out a small laugh.

“God no, Xander. You don’t look like one. See you are already making me laugh, that means you are fun to talk with” she said and Xander nodded. If only she knew him, he was a cold callous bastard.

“So…..There this one question, people have been dying to ask” Chloe said and Xander sighed.

“I know the question,” he said tiredly. Chloe raised a brow.

“You know?” She asked and Xander nodded. He pushed back his dark hair.

“You wanna ask if I have a girlfriend or a wife?” He said and watched Chloe’s face for a reaction. Chloe's lips lifted into a knowing smile.

“Then you follow the tabloids a lot, Mister Zander. So what’s the answer” she said. Xander shrugged.

“I have no girlfriend or wife, I whore around a lot,” he said. This was technically not true, ever since Lizzy had left him he couldn’t even find satisfaction in another woman, he wanted her, she and she alone. He wanted to touch her blond hair, to hear her whisper his name, but no, he had to ruin that.

Xander turned to Chloe. Her brown eyes were fixed on him with longing, wanting. Xander shook his head.

“So did you come with your kid” he asked. Chloe blinked and shook her head.

“Umm…no, it’s my sister's daughter. Her mother isn’t around so I came for her”. Chloe said, her eyes wandered to his lips and she licked hers.

“Do you think I’ll have a chance?” She said and Xander stared at her confused.

“Chance for what?” Xander asked and she shrugged.

“Chance with you,” she said seriously. Xander chuckled, he knew this was where it would head. He turned to face her fully, she was beautiful, very but Xander didn’t want to stress it, he knew that even if he wanted to, Lizzy’s face would keep blinking into existence at the back of his head.

“You are very beautiful Chloe, Perfect, but I don’t think there’s that chance,” he said and Chloe nodded. He could see the sadness in her eyes, he tucked a strand of her red hair behind her ear.

“I want us to be friends though, I haven’t joked in a while and you made me do just that,” he said and Chloe smiled.

“Alright Jesus,” she said and Xander laughed.

“Yeah. I need to use the restroom, I’ll catch you up later” Xander said and waved as he headed out of the hall.

Xander smiled to himself as he walked down the hallway, he had no intention of going to the restroom. He just didn’t want to put Chloe in a difficult spot after outrightly telling her no. He had to admit he liked Chloe, she was funny and made him smile more than once.

The last time he had smiled was with Lizzy, he missed her and he wished she was here. Xander smiled to himself bitterly, that was if she would ever forgive him. He wanted her but he couldn’t refuse Sage as well.

Xander shoved his hands in his pocket as he walked down the long hallway. The mask was starting to itch and Xander had the urge to throw it away but he held himself back. He didn’t want his mom in trouble when the media picked that up and slandered his name.

He turned a corner and stumbled into a small someone.

“Ow!” The kid said and Xander helped her up. He smiled apologetically at her.

“Sorry,” he apologized and she nodded and straightened. She wore a costume from a series he once had watched. Her face was oddly familiar.

“I am sorry dear. I wasn’t looking” he said and she beamed at him.

“That's alright sir. I wasn’t looking as well. I was caught up in my excitement to perform today” she said and Xander smiled, he didn’t know why but he loved this young girl already.

“Oh. That’s right, what are you playing as?” He asked and she beamed.

“Daenerys Targaryen,” she said and Xander smiled, he remembered the name now.

“Oh, a dragon queen, that’s nice. What’s your name sweetie” he asked and she grinned.

“Mia, what’s yours, sir?” She asked and Xander smiled.

“It’s Xander, nice to meet you, Mia,” he said and she waved as she walked away.

“And you too Mr Xander”
