Chapter Four

Lizzy POV

Lizzy's heart pounded in her chest like crazy. She had never expected this, not in many years. That Xander would show up on the porch of her house. How did he even know her address?

“Hello” came that soothing deep voice that had whispered slutty things to her before.

“What do you want?” She snapped and Xander smiled. An annoying innocent smile.

“I just came to visit,” he said and Lizzy started to close the door but Xander’s foot stopped it and he pushed the door back open.

“I don’t want you here. Get out” Lizzy said and Xander smiled.

“What if I don’t want to leave?” He asked seriously. Lizzy wanted to stare into those flammable green eyes but she couldn't because of the fear of getting lost in them.

“Then I’ll call the cops,” she said and Xander smiled. He didn’t budge from where he stood.

“Go on. Call them then” he said and Lizzy shot him a deadly glare. How could she forget, he had a lot of influence and power no cop would dare lay a hand on him if they valued their job.

“Just say what you want and leave,” she said and Xander stared around.

“I needed a journalist. Someone referred me to you” he said and Lizzy shook her head.

“I guess you must be disappointed,”  she said and Xander's eyes burned into hers and this time Lizzy didn’t look away.

“That’s not true, I was glad when I saw it was you,” he said and Lizzy laughed bitterly.

“Yeah,” she said sarcastically. “I know you would have wanted to tear the file,” Lizzy said and Xander didn’t respond to that. He looked around instead then he shot a grin.

“Can I come inside?” he asked and Lizzy shook her head but opened the door wider for him to come in. She just wanted to get the work done and be done with whatever drama was going to come with the job.

Xander walked into the house and plopped on the sofa in the main room, he eyed everything his eyes could see.

“You’re doing good,” he said and Lizzy rolled her eyes.

“I know. Thank you” she said sarcastically. Lizzy's heart was pounding. Xander was here and Mia was upstairs. His daughter which Lizzy didn’t tell him about.

“Won’t you offer me something to drink, where are your manners Liz?” he said and Lizzy smiled wickedly.

“I left them with the lawyer along with the divorce papers,” she said and Xander sighed, as he stood.

“Look Liz……..”

“Don’t come near me, don’t even explain anything. We’ll get this job done then you’ll get out of my life, understood?” She said and Xander's green eyes flared.

“No,” he said firmly and Lizzy stared at him in surprise.

“No? Who are you to….” She stopped when he grabbed her and pulled her to him. His hand clasped her waist tightly.

His green eyes burned too brightly, like headlamps.

“I made a mistake alright, but will you let me explain please” he said and Lizzy shook her head. Deep down, she was trying to fight the heady feeling she was getting now. She could feel his breath on her face. He was pressed so hard against her that she could feel, feel him hardening. Her eyes wandered to his lips.

His eyes roamed her face then he lowered his lips to hers claiming them as his. She arched into him instinctively, not knowing when she wrapped her arms around his neck.

God, she missed him so badly. She wanted more, she sucked on his lips, intoxicated by how they tasted. His hands wandered to her breasts and she let him even grab it until……..

“Mommy?”

Lizzy jumped, scrambling away from Xander. She expected him to look embarrassed as well but he just stood there not staring at her but at Mia who had come down the stairs.

“Mia?” He said and Mia’s sleepy eyes became alert and lit up.

“Uncle Xander,” she said and rushed into his arms. Xander scooped her up in one fluid movement.

Uncle Xander?  Lizzy thought. If only you knew sweetie

“What are you doing here Uncle Xander?” She said and Xander shrugged looking at Lizzy.

“I came to see your mother,” he said and Mia leaned back to stare at him, she raised a brow.

“You were kissing,” she said and Xander chuckled.

“Your mother is beautiful,” he said and Lizzy blushed even when he wasn’t talking to her directly.

Mia grinned.

“Are you going to be staying with us Uncle Xander?” she said and Xander's eyes turned to Lizzy’s.

“We’ll see about that. You still look sleepy Mia, get some sleep alright?” He said and Mia nodded, her eyes dropping.

“Yes Uncle Xander,” she said Xander dropped her to her feet and she headed upstairs.

Xander turned to Lizzy and his eyes burned with fury.

“Why didn’t you tell me?” he said. Lizzy's heart pounded, did he know already?

“Tell you what?” She asked and Xander sighed.

“That you had a kid, I let you suffer and you had all this responsibility,” he said and Lizzy nearly fainted in relief. He still didn’t know.

“What do you care?” Lizzy shot back, she was angry, angry that he had nearly found out and she didn’t even want him to. He had hurt her well enough, he didn’t deserve to know the truth.

“I do care, Elizabeth, and I think you do. If not you wouldn’t have kissed me back” he said and Lizzy shot him a glare.

“That was my body responding to a kiss.” She said and Xander raised a brow. He shook his head.

“I can tell when you are lying Liz. You still want me, and me only” he whispered in her ear. Lizzy closed her eyes. She hated that he still had this much control over her.

“I don’t “ she lied and he smirked.

“Really?” He said and she shrugged. Xander nodded and captured her lips again.
