Amelia’s POV
I arrived at the pack, surrounded by different colors and scents. Everyone was impeccably dressed - from the average Omega wolf to the dashing Alpha. I twirled the wine in my glass, patiently scanning the ballroom for Damien.
And then, I found him but he wasn't alone. As I watched him, I was torn between a mixed feeling of excitement, nervousness and joy. Damien's eyes met mine and he smiled. I bit the insides of my cheeks, feeling like a little girl all over again.
“The ceremony will now begin.” The Herald announced in a loud voice, throwing the boisterous hall into ease. With bated breath, everyone including me, watched as Alpha's chose their Omega's and Omegas their Gamma’s. It was a wonderful sight to behold.
It got to my turn and I pushed my seat, walking to Damien's seat. Of course, the room was startled by my boldness. If only they knew that Damien was already my mate.
I stretched my gloved hand towards him.
“Alpha Damien, I, Amelia, choose you to be my fated mate.” Damien stood to his feet and the room burst out with lapses of “oohs” and “ahh”. My cheeks burned as I waited for the moment I had dreamed of for eight years. He smiled, reaching for my hand.
“I, Damien Elord, heir to the BloodMoon throne…”
“Yes?” My smile widened as I still held out my hand.
“...reject you Amelia Moon as my mate.” He completed.. His gaze not leaving mine. I watched as his face changed from his usual carefree countenance. His eyes now looked cold, his face hardened. He looked like a total stranger now.
Where is the Damien I knew? I felt a strong wave of blood rush through my brain as I stared at him confused. I could hear the murmur and laughter in the crowd. Nothing could have prepared me for this heart wrecking humiliation.
“Damien, what is going on? I finally managed to ask. His gaze left mine as he turned to leave.
“Wait a minute,” I grabbed his arm. “What was that?”
“Let go of me, You heard me right Amelia. Do you need me to repeat it, you slut? He hissed.
“Slut?” I couldn't believe my ears. Damien had just called me a slut in front of everyone. The murmurs and laughter became intense as they repeated his words.
“What do you mean by that?” I asked in shock.
“Aren't you a slut, Amelia.”
“How dare you say that after sleeping with me?”
“You slept with me. That makes you the slut,” Damien tapped at my forehead. “You're not very smart, are you?” His statement left me confused and I watched in horror as he walked to where Freya sat and dropped to the floor on one knee. I froze in shock and my body weakened instantly. Tears welled up in my eyes and my lips quivered.
“Will you be my mate and stand by my side as my Luna?” he said, planting a soft kiss on Freya’s gloved hand.
“N - No.” I tried to scream but it came as a whisper.
“Yes, My love.” Freya replied. As Damien kissed her, a round of deafening applause resounded in the ballroom. I felt the ground shift beneath me, almost making me lose my balance.
“What is going on here?” I cried out in confusion.
“I'll tell you what is going on here, you cheap slut,” Freya walked towards me, her dress so elegant and perfect, her heels clicking on the marble floor. She looked like a proud princess while I was the complete opposite.
“No man in the Blood Moon pack will marry a woman another man has touched. Next time, don't spread your legs like a cheap slut.” she mocked. A feeling of embarrassment and shame flooded through me. I do not deserve this. These moments felt like a nightmare. It felt unreal. Why would Damien do this to me? Damien would never betray me. For what reason?
“What?” I looked between her and Damian and the pieces fell in place.
The barrette on her head, her mocking tone in my room in the morning, Damien taking my innocence and telling me to turn down the Red Moon pack offer. It was all their plan.
“Who's showing whom now, huh?” Freya laughed as Damien twinned his hands around her waist. The room spinned as the whispers began to grow.
“She’s a whore.” “She should be ashamed of herself.”
Tears formed in my eyes as I watched them all mock me. It hurt, it felt like a confident elephant was sitting on my chest. Every part of my body ached in pain. I felt like I was dying and my body seemed to have accepted its fate.
I fell to the ground as they taunted me, I looked to the crowd and my eyes landed on Matilda. She was laughing at me too. I wish the grounds would open up and swallow me. What did I do to deserve this?
My gaze returned to Damien and Freya, and they seem to be enjoying seeing me wallow in pain. They had put up a perfect show to embarrass me completely.
No man in the Blood Moon pack would take me as his Mate. Damien knew of this yet he chose to play this cruel game with my innocence.
“One last thing, Amelia,” Damien looked at me with a cruel smirk planted on his lips . “You should have never dreamt of becoming my Luna. I don't know what went through your head. And second of all, the Red Moon pack will cease to exist. Father had already ordered for everyone in the pack to be killed. So consider it a gift from me to you. Your stupid aunt wouldn't bother you anymore. Isn't that what you want?” I couldn't believe my ears.
“What.” I asked in disbelief. There is no way what he had just said could be true.
“The Red Moon pack?” The whispers spiraled out of control.
“She's a witch.”
“She should be burnt!” The crowd whispered among themselves.
“No. No. No. Aunt Abigael!” I screamed. My heart pondered in my chest as I shook my head in disbelief. I staggered up as my vision blurred for a moment. Tears streamed down my eyes as I rushed towards Damien. I held his clothes tightly.
“You are lying! Right?” I yelled at him.
“Better go say your goodbyes. You know how fast fire spreads.” My stomach chunked as I stared at the monster in front of me. I finally realized that I didn't know who Damien truly is, he had hidden his true self so well.
Without looking back, I ran out of the hall. The further I ran their cruel whispers and laughter ceased to be heard. I continued to run while praying to the heavens to save my aunt.
I would not forgive myself if I lose her.
Amelia’s Pov“I hope….I hope all that nonsense he said isn't true” I murmured as I stumbled through the woods, my feet dragging through ash and broken branches. My mind was racing really fast and I couldn't even tell how fast my heart was beating. The sight of what was right in front of me made me pause….” Oh my Moon goddess. No…..no……no. This isn't happening” I ran further, “Aunt Abigael!!” I screamed so loud and into the midst of the burning fire. The smell of smoke was thick in the air, choking me as I ran toward the place where my aunt had been. The sound of battle had long since faded, replaced by an eerie silence. But then I saw her. I couldn't believe my eyes.Aunt Abigael was lying in the middle of a clearing, her body sprawled on the ground in a pool of her own blood. My heart stopped. “No!” I screamed, rushing to her side. My knees hit the ground as I grabbed her shoulders, shaking her gently. “Aunt Abigael, please! It’s me, Amelia! Stay with me! Aunt Abigael, please.” H
Amelia's POVI wasn't sure of what to do. I didn't know where to turn to, I could only go to my father. The only home left for me. I got to the front gate of the house I had once called home, I was exhausted. Every step felt heavy, my heart weighed down by confusion and dread. Every bit of me, and every part of me, it all looked like I absorbed some filthy possession that isn't mine and it became a burden. I had been gone for a while, yes, but I thought they would at least welcome me back. I could feature somewhere if not everywhere. If they killed my family and took away everything I owned, then they should provide one for me.I took my chances to knock on the door, there was no response and I knocked harder, Matilda opened the door. Her expression was cold, her lips a thin line as if she had been waiting for the moment to send me away. The moment to run my pain with salt. “Please… I want to come in” I said, giving the fact that she didn't move like she wanted me to be inside.“
Damien’s Pov“She’s bleeding… What did you do, Freya? You shouldn't have touched her. You should have kept your anger controlled” I demanded, staring at Amelia’s crumpled body on the floor. Freya stepped back, her hands trembling slightly, though her face quickly shifted into an innocent mask. “I….I didn’t mean to, Damien,” she stammered. “I just swung out of instinct. I didn’t realize… I didn’t know I hit her like that. I wasn't…. I really didn't…. I swear I didn't mean to do that to her” I looked at her, then back at Amelia, who lay on the ground with blood pooling beneath her. The sword had cut deep, and her breathing was shallow. I could feel her life leaving her. For a moment, I was panicking, I couldn't think of what to do, but I quickly buried it. This was Amelia. She had defied me, embarrassed me, and brought nothing but chaos. Maybe she deserved this. Of course she deserved it. I know she did. At least there would be nothing getting in my way in the future.Still, watch
Amelia’s PovMy head throbbed, and my body felt as if it had been trampled by a thousand horses. The air smelled unfamiliar, clean, but with a faint hint of herbs and something sweet. I opened my eyes slowly, squinting against the warm sunlight streaming through a nearby window. The room was strange, nothing like the familiar walls of the Blood Moon pack or even the ruins of the Red Moon pack. The bed I lay on was soft, with thick blankets that felt foreign against my skin. The walls were made of stone, yet the place was cozy, with shelves lined with books and jars filled with dried plants. I sat up, wincing as pain shot through my side. Instinctively, my hand went to the spot, and I felt bandages wrapped tightly around me. I started to panic. Where was I? How did I get here? Before I could do more than glance around, the door creaked open. A tall man stepped in, carrying a tray. His presence filled the room, and I froze. “You’re awake,” he said, his deep voice tinged with r
Amelia's POVMy eyes flipped open as the thought quickly crept into my head: “His name? I didn't get to ask him what his name is.” I quickly moved my body up as I tried to stop him and asked him his name, but the excruciating pain from my rib held me back, forcing me back into the softness of the fluffy mattress, before I could say a word he was already out of sight, the door strongly clipped and shut behind him as he made his way out of the room. I swallowed the question that was initially trying to make its way out of my mouth. Furthermore, I felt bad that I was unable to get any details of who he was or even where I was before he left. Likewise, I decided that it would be the first question I would ask him when he returns, and I will try my best to remember that this time around. I shut my eyes and gently hugged the soft pillow that was placed by my side; it did a lot of magic, helping to relieve the intense pain that had engulfed me earlier when I tried to get up from the bed. T
Kaiden's POV“It was all a dream?” She muttered with tears rolling down her cheeks. The urge to reach for her frail form and comfort her tugged at the strings of my heart but I scooched closer instead, patting her shaking shoulders gently and rubbing on them soothingly.“Yes, you’re okay. Everything’s okay." I comforted in a low voice, slowly reaching for her cheeks and wiping a stray tear off. Her light brown eyes caught mine at that moment and my heart did a weird gulp as her honey colored eyes, filled with a sadness too deep for her age, stared at me. Tears rolled down her cheeks and I soothed her cries till her tears dried, leaving in it's wake a frown on her lips.I reached for the food Stella had brought while she was asleep and uncovered it, filling the air with the enticing smell of spices. Surely, she must be starving."Here, eat up. You need to get your energy." I offered her, helping her sit up but she shook her head wordlessly, not even sparing me or the mouth watering dish
Damien's PovI woke up earlier than I had expected, the faint light of dawn seeping through the curtains. My head felt heavy, like I’d been spinning in circles all night. “What in the moon goddess name happened to me?” I thought to myself. Then turning around to see Freya. She was curled up beside me, her dark hair splayed across the pillow. I leaned in, intending to kiss her awake, but the memory of the howl I’d heard in the middle of the night flashed through my mind. That howl had been unlike anything I’d ever heard. Powerful, commanding, and haunting, it sent a shiver down my spine, for not knowing who it was also. For a moment, I considered it again. Could it have been…? “Damien,” Freya murmured sleepily, breaking my thoughts. She slid closer, her hands brushing my back before trailing over my chest. “You’re awake early,” she said, her voice teasing as she pressed her lips to my shoulder. I turned to face her, pushing the thoughts of the howl aside. Freya climbed on top
Amelia’s Pov[Few days later]“I should show you something exciting” Alpha Kaiden took my hands away from the middle of the scene everyone was having and took me back into the pack. And I remembered the smell of the air, just like that day when he said it.The air in Kaiden’s hidden sanctuary was tranquil, with the soft hum of the wind sneaking through the cracked window. The place was cozy and private, tucked away from the main grounds of the Silvermoon pack. It was everything called ‘perfect’It was one of the secret spots Kaiden had shown me, a place he told me to retreat to if I ever needed time to myself. “You can come here anytime you need a break,” Kaiden had said, his voice gentle. “Just don’t let anyone know about it. This is my safe space. And I'm showing it you because you've become it's rival” I smiled, touched by his trust, and promised to keep his sanctuary a secret. That day, Kaiden brought me to the spot again. He was showing me a few changes he had made, adding
Amelia’s POV“I have to confront her” I said, “I need to, I can't just let her have her way with this. She needs to know that she's not fooling anyone anymore, this has to stop! People need to come out of her years of deceits” I added, “There's another thing too, the reason she was after your mum was because your mum found out about her secret” Kaiden further spilled.“She and her lover were so openly minded to talksabout all that was happening without a care in the world, just so carefree” he added, “I was able to leave without getting caught was because my scent can't be detected my them” he continued, “My mum knew about her secret? Was that why my aunty said those words before she died? She had told me to be careful and the people who had killed my mom were around me.“She killed my mum because of that, because she knew about her secret? isn't that vile?” I said in an outburst, I was skeptical about all of these. My dad had told me she died from a strange illness but now all finger
Amelia’s POV “Have you had anything to eat?” Kadian asked, looking concerned. Earlier, I had left in a hurry to attend to Freya and her cohorts of friends. She's currently in a state of insanity and the best I could do at the moment was to dismiss her.“Don't lie to me Amelia, you don't even have to answer. I know you haven't had anything to eat, "he added, gesturing to a table filled with all kinds of food. “Kaiden..this is too much, we can't even have all this to ourselves” I exclaimed, “You don't have to worry about that, just come sit and eat” he responded, pulling a chair for me to sit. Such a gentlemanly behavior!“I'm sorry about earlier, I had an outburst and I couldn't control my choice of words” he said, his face all gloomy. I felt bad, it wasn't his fault all of this was happening. I was more than grateful for him even being on my side, for him to save a girl he never knew and for him developing feelings for me after all what had happened to me. Kaiden was the sole reason
AMELIA'S Pov“I thought I could help her..” I sighed, “Don't blame yourself Amelia, it's not your fault. You can't help someone who's not ready” Kaiden encouraged. My mental health has deteriorated ever since I got In love with Freya, she has always been against me yet she wants my help. A part of me wants to help her, and the other seeks revenge. Freya had planned to kill me, and the thought of her even asking me for help after attempting to murder me still puzzles me. She has no other choice than to accept whatever she sees from me, definitely, I wasn't going to take it lightly with her. “Just make sure you're careful around them, Amelia,” Kaiden warned, “I still don't feel comfortable enough with you being around them after they tried to kill you,” he added.I understood his concerns, I had never forgotten about it but I knew I couldn't keep holding grudges against them. I was yet to forgive her for what she did, and certainly I won't be able to forget it.“I understand Kaiden, I
Amelia’s PovI didn't believe Matilda would be so miserable to save Freya. She wasn't even worth everything or anything. And yet, she was pleading like there was something she still needed her for. It all seemed weird with my father staring at me in the eye while I faked who I was. The ease in his eyes and the calmness I'm his voice when I told him I could help Freya… And all I could think of was Matilda's unending please that rang in my ears. "I've been pleading with you, Lady Tatia. Kindly do something" Matilda said, her voice cracking. "Freya is suffering. We don't know what to do, but we know you have the power to help her. Please, you have to save her."My father stood beside her, his face was pale, and his expression was a mix of guilt and helplessness. "I know you could help, and I hope you can help us with that as fast as possible so I can have my daughter back alive again.” And my heart skipped a beat after hearing that, didn't he feel the connection between us? Doesn't h
Amelia’s PovI stood in the doorway, my breath choking me up from my chest as I looked around the familiar house. It felt like nothing had changed, yet everything was so different and distant. The old house, the one I had once called home, was now just a shadow of its former self. The walls, the floors, the rooms, all seemed to carry memories of a time long gone, a time I could never go back to. My heart pounded in my chest as I stepped inside, my father’s voice calling to me from the other room, a sound that felt like a distant echo. I hadn't expected to feel so overwhelmed, so emotional. But seeing him after all these years, seeing him standing there, waiting for me, was too much. I had spent so much of my life trying to forget this place, trying to escape its hold on me. And yet, here I was, back again, facing the very memories I had spent so long running from."Amelia," my father’s voice cracked, his tone full of warmth and concern. I turned toward him, while trying everything
Chapter 76 Amelia's PovI had never expected to see Matilda again, but there she was, standing at the door of the pack house, her face drawn with desperation. I could see the tension in her shoulders, the weight of guilt and fear pressing down on her. I couldn’t help but feel a slight amusement stir inside me as I watched her fidget, clearly nervous and unsure of how to approach me."Lady Tatia," Matilda began, her voice shaky, "I beg of you. Please. You have to help me. My daughter... She's in danger. I don’t know what else to do. You’re the only one who can save her."Her words were desperate, pleading, but I could see the hidden calculation behind them. Matilda had always been a woman driven by her own desires, her own plans, and now, she was hoping I would fall for her act. But I wasn’t the same naive girl I once was. I had learned far too much to be swayed by her manipulations.I crossed my arms, leaning against the doorframe as I eyed her. "Save your daughter? Why would I help
Amelia’s PovThe air in the forest was heavy with the scent of pine and earth as Kaiden and I moved silently between the trees. We had spent the last few days working together on various tasks, trying to gather information and prepare for whatever came next. There was so much uncertainty, but for the first time in a long while, I felt like I was making progress. Kaiden had been a steady presence at my side, helping me with everything from gathering herbs to strategizing how we could expose the truth behind Damien's curse. We spent hours talking about our plans, brainstorming ideas, and trying to make sense of the tangled web of lies that had been woven around us. But today was different. Today, we were out in the forest, collecting herbs that I needed for a potion I was working on. It was something I had been putting off for a while, but now felt like the right time to make it."I never thought I'd be out here in the woods with you, gathering weeds," Kaiden said, his voice light, bu
Amelia's PovThe tension in the air was thick as I walked past Damien without even glancing at him. I had made a decision to ignore him, to shut down whatever feelings I had left. It wasn’t easy, not with everything that had happened between us, but I knew I had to do it. I couldn’t afford to let my emotions get the better of me again. Not now. Not when there was so much at stake.I could feel his eyes on me as I walked away, but I refused to turn around. I had done enough of that, chasing after him, letting him pull me back into his world. I couldn’t keep doing it. I was done.Kaiden, of course, noticed the tension immediately. He had been by my side through all of it, and he knew me better than anyone. He was the one person who could see through the walls I had built, and right now, he could see that something was off. He approached me cautiously, his eyes scanning my face, trying to read me.“You’re giving him the silent treatment, aren’t you?” Kaiden said, his voice soft but lace
Damien's PovI stood in front of Lady Tatia, feeling like a fool. My pride had always been my shield, but today, I had to admit that I was wrong. The words came out slowly, almost painfully. “I... I apologize for the way I treated you. For insulting you. I wasn’t thinking clearly, and I shouldn’t have acted that way.”Lady Tatia didn’t respond immediately. She simply looked at me, her eyes calculating, as if weighing my sincerity. After a long pause, she spoke, her voice calm but firm. “You don’t need to apologize, Damien. You’ve made your choices. But just because you say sorry doesn’t mean everything is forgiven. You can’t escape your destiny.”Her words stung. I had hoped that by apologizing, things would smooth over, that maybe she would see that I was trying to make amends. But she was right, nothing was ever that simple. I couldn’t just erase my mistakes with a few words, especially not with someone like Lady Tatia. She saw through me, knew who I was, and what I had become. “
