Amelia’s POV
“I have to tell you something.” I started after pondering on how to break the news to Damien.
“What is it Amelia?” He asked, patting the side next to him on the plush red couch. I walked slowly to where he sat, twiddling my thumbs as he put his arms around me.
“Well, my mother’s family visited me.”
“And?” He asked, running his hands down my bare arms. I nestled in his hold.
“Well, they told me they want me to follow them back to the Red Moon pack.” As the words left my mouth I felt my heart beating fast against my chest as I waited for his reaction.
“Redmoon pack? The pack filled with hybrids?” He said with a distasteful tone. I was a bit thrown off by the look of surprise on his face and disgust in his tone, but that was almost my exact reaction when Aunt Abigail told me the news. My fingers twirled around his chest in circles.
“My mother was a hybrid. She had the blood of the witch clan flowing through her and I didn't know till now.”
“Amelia?” He held my chin up as he stared into my eyes, his gaze piercing into my soul. I wondered if he knew just how much effect he had on me. “Are you… going to leave with them? Are you going to leave me?”
“No,” I shook my head, cupping both his cheeks.
“Damien, I would never leave you.”
“Good,” he smiled, leaning down to kiss my forehead.
“Because I want you to turn down their offer. You are going to be my Luna, Amelia.”
I returned home that night with butterflies rioting at the pit of my stomach and my heart swelling with pride. I couldn't wait to finally leave this damned house and spend the rest of my life with Damien.
As I inched near the entrance, I heard muffled arguments. I loomed near and heard a familiar voice.
“You don't understand… she needs to hear from me…” I rolled my eyes when I recognized the voice. It was Aunt Abigael. I twisted the door knob and pushed it in. My feet had barely touched the carpet on the floor before I heard my name.
“Amelia..” Aunt Abigael wiped her hands on her gown as she rose to her feet. I walked past her without sparing her a side-glance. She caught my wrist before I reached the staircase.
“Amelia, we need to talk.” I pushed her hand away softly as I heaved a deep sigh and turned to look at her.
“I believe we've spoken before.”
“Amelia, you have to listen to me. Our pack needs you.” As the words left her mouth I felt anger coursed through me.
“You have never been in my life for the past eighteen years and now, you want me to follow you to some pack and become their Luna? That doesn't make any sense!”
“Some pack? Amelia!” She shunned, her voice broke a little and an icy feeling pierced through me. I knew the Red Moon pack was my mother’s pack. I shouldn't have said that but I have made up my mind.
“Amelia, this is your mother’s dying wish. Are you really going to keep acting like a spoiled child? I cut her off immediately. I was far from being a spoiled child if only she knew how much I had suffered all these years.
“Don't make me look like the villain here. I don't want to go with you. Why can't you just understand that? I don't know anything about hybrids or whatever it's that they can do.”
“Amelia, keep your voice down… We don't- -” I cut her off mid-sentence.
“Don't tell me that!” I yelled as I clenched and unclenched my fists. “Before you crashed into my life, I didn't even know you existed. When my mom passed away and you didn't even show up for the funeral. You didn't care about me until now. You're so selfish. I bet you want all that power to yourself and I'll be the perfect bait.”
“Amelia, don't speak to your aunt that way!” Uncle Jasper brows were furrowed. He was upset and so was I.
“Twenty four hours ago, she wasn’t!” I stomped my way up the stairs.
“Amelia...” she called out to me.
“I’m not going with you. Please, leave.” I gave her one last look before walking to my room.
As I shut the door of my room behind me, I couldn't stop the tears from rolling down my eyes. Different emotions wash through me, I felt guilty for my sudden outburst. I had hurt Aunt Abigael with my cruel words but it was best that she left alone. I could not leave the BloodMoon pack not when I am about to be announced as Damien’s Mate and the future Luna..
I heard my father's voice from downstairs, he was talking to Aunt Abigael as she prepared to leave.
The knots in my belly tightened, it was already late at night. My father had tried to convince her to leave the next morning, but she insisted on leaving.
I crawled into my bed, as I hoped I had made the right decision. I hope my mother would understand me, after all she had abandoned her pack for my father.
…………..
The day of the mating ceremony came like a flash. The day every Omega and Alpha anticipated. The day all my wishes would come true. As I made preparations that night, the giddy feeling settled over my heart and I smiled.
I will be Damien's Luna.
I pushed back my seat and stared at my reflection in the long, grimly mirror hanging on the wall. I was perfect.
I had blown out my long golden hair, added color to my lips and cheeks and picked up a beautiful green dress that matched Damien's eyes.
I wore the barrette over my hair to complete my final look. It was perfect indeed.
Freya waltzed into the room like she owned the place, wearing the same barrette as I did. A scoff escaped her lips as she scrutinized my face and dress.
“What is that thing doing on you?”
“You mean this dress?” I twirled in her face and smiled. “It's the dress I bought for this very special occasion.” Freya burst into a mocking laugh, her maid Mae following.
“You? Special occasion? Please, the only special occasion you'll have is crying when no one will choose you as their mate.” She ran her delicate fingers on the barrette with a smile tugging at her daring red lips.
“Green is not your color. You should get that in black to mourn your hopes.”
“You..” I fisted my hands at my sides.
“What were you going to do? Hit me?” Freya gave a dramatic gasp and turned to Mae. “She was going to hit me with that filthy hand of hers.”
“Just wait till Damien chooses me as his mate. You'll see.” I lifted my chin and flashed a grin. Indeed, she will be stunned when it happens.
“Damien choosing you?” She leaned closer and sniffled the air. “There seems to be a scent that follows you around.
“Delusion?” “Yes, quit being delusional.” Freya said.
“We'll see.” I said with a wild grin.
“Oh, we will, darling.” She said before turning towards the door.
I shaked my head as she left my room. Freya doesn't know that I and Damien have been betrothed to each other since we were ten years old. I can't wait to see the look on her face when Damien claims me as his mate in front of everyone.
“Oh no!” The carriage had left me behind.
“Evil witches.” I spat before letting out a heavy sigh.
Matilda and Freya took the carriage to the ceremony whereas I boarded a local one I had to share with two other women. The journey was a hassle but it was worth it. In just a few hours I would be Damien's mate and never cross paths with them again.
Amelia’s POVI arrived at the pack, surrounded by different colors and scents. Everyone was impeccably dressed - from the average Omega wolf to the dashing Alpha. I twirled the wine in my glass, patiently scanning the ballroom for Damien. And then, I found him but he wasn't alone. As I watched him, I was torn between a mixed feeling of excitement, nervousness and joy. Damien's eyes met mine and he smiled. I bit the insides of my cheeks, feeling like a little girl all over again.“The ceremony will now begin.” The Herald announced in a loud voice, throwing the boisterous hall into ease. With bated breath, everyone including me, watched as Alpha's chose their Omega's and Omegas their Gamma’s. It was a wonderful sight to behold. It got to my turn and I pushed my seat, walking to Damien's seat. Of course, the room was startled by my boldness. If only they knew that Damien was already my mate.I stretched my gloved hand towards him.“Alpha Damien, I, Amelia, choose you to be my fated mate.
Amelia’s Pov“I hope….I hope all that nonsense he said isn't true” I murmured as I stumbled through the woods, my feet dragging through ash and broken branches. My mind was racing really fast and I couldn't even tell how fast my heart was beating. The sight of what was right in front of me made me pause….” Oh my Moon goddess. No…..no……no. This isn't happening” I ran further, “Aunt Abigael!!” I screamed so loud and into the midst of the burning fire. The smell of smoke was thick in the air, choking me as I ran toward the place where my aunt had been. The sound of battle had long since faded, replaced by an eerie silence. But then I saw her. I couldn't believe my eyes.Aunt Abigael was lying in the middle of a clearing, her body sprawled on the ground in a pool of her own blood. My heart stopped. “No!” I screamed, rushing to her side. My knees hit the ground as I grabbed her shoulders, shaking her gently. “Aunt Abigael, please! It’s me, Amelia! Stay with me! Aunt Abigael, please.” H
Amelia's POVI wasn't sure of what to do. I didn't know where to turn to, I could only go to my father. The only home left for me. I got to the front gate of the house I had once called home, I was exhausted. Every step felt heavy, my heart weighed down by confusion and dread. Every bit of me, and every part of me, it all looked like I absorbed some filthy possession that isn't mine and it became a burden. I had been gone for a while, yes, but I thought they would at least welcome me back. I could feature somewhere if not everywhere. If they killed my family and took away everything I owned, then they should provide one for me.I took my chances to knock on the door, there was no response and I knocked harder, Matilda opened the door. Her expression was cold, her lips a thin line as if she had been waiting for the moment to send me away. The moment to run my pain with salt. “Please… I want to come in” I said, giving the fact that she didn't move like she wanted me to be inside.“
Damien’s Pov“She’s bleeding… What did you do, Freya? You shouldn't have touched her. You should have kept your anger controlled” I demanded, staring at Amelia’s crumpled body on the floor. Freya stepped back, her hands trembling slightly, though her face quickly shifted into an innocent mask. “I….I didn’t mean to, Damien,” she stammered. “I just swung out of instinct. I didn’t realize… I didn’t know I hit her like that. I wasn't…. I really didn't…. I swear I didn't mean to do that to her” I looked at her, then back at Amelia, who lay on the ground with blood pooling beneath her. The sword had cut deep, and her breathing was shallow. I could feel her life leaving her. For a moment, I was panicking, I couldn't think of what to do, but I quickly buried it. This was Amelia. She had defied me, embarrassed me, and brought nothing but chaos. Maybe she deserved this. Of course she deserved it. I know she did. At least there would be nothing getting in my way in the future.Still, watch
Amelia’s PovMy head throbbed, and my body felt as if it had been trampled by a thousand horses. The air smelled unfamiliar, clean, but with a faint hint of herbs and something sweet. I opened my eyes slowly, squinting against the warm sunlight streaming through a nearby window. The room was strange, nothing like the familiar walls of the Blood Moon pack or even the ruins of the Red Moon pack. The bed I lay on was soft, with thick blankets that felt foreign against my skin. The walls were made of stone, yet the place was cozy, with shelves lined with books and jars filled with dried plants. I sat up, wincing as pain shot through my side. Instinctively, my hand went to the spot, and I felt bandages wrapped tightly around me. I started to panic. Where was I? How did I get here? Before I could do more than glance around, the door creaked open. A tall man stepped in, carrying a tray. His presence filled the room, and I froze. “You’re awake,” he said, his deep voice tinged with r
Amelia's PovThe man barely glanced at the woman who brought in the information before speaking in a calm but firm tone. “Stella that will be all for now, I don't need anything else. Leave us.” She hesitated for a brief moment, her gaze turned to me before she gave a small nod and left the room. The door clicked softly behind her, and I let out the breath I hadn’t realized I was holding. He turned back to me, his expression was unreadable.“You should rest now,” he said. “We’ll talk in the morning.” ***The next day came quicker than I expected. When I woke, the pain in my side was less severe, though it still hurt to move too much. His handsome face stepped in after knocking on the door, carrying a tray of breakfast. He set it on the small table by the window, motioning for me to join him. “I thought you might be hungry,” he said, sitting down across from me as I shuffled to the chair. “Thank you,” I murmured, eyeing the food. It was simple but warm, eggs, toast, and so
Amelia’s PovMy heart was racing as I stood there in Kaiden’s arms. He had moved so quickly, pulling me out of the path of the arrow that I didn’t even have time to process what had happened. My breath hitched but not too long until I got myself back. I almost thought I was going to die but I had myself drawn and held in his hands. His grip was strong, protective, and for a moment, I just stared up at him, trying to understand why he had acted so instinctively. “Are you okay?” he asked, his voice low and steady, but there was a touch of concern in his eyes. I nodded, still catching my breath.“Yes… I’m fine. Thank you for saving me Sir” He gave me a small smile, but then his expression turned serious.“Don’t call me ‘Sir’ It makes me feel ancient.” I blinked, surprised by the shift in his tone.“Then what should I call you?” “Kaiden,” he said simply. “Just Kaiden.” His name felt warm on my tongue, though I didn’t say it out loud just yet. Instead, I smiled, grateful for the s
Damien's PovI woke up earlier than I had expected, the faint light of dawn seeping through the curtains. My head felt heavy, like I’d been spinning in circles all night. “What in the moon goddess name happened to me?” I thought to myself. Then turning around to see Freya. She was curled up beside me, her dark hair splayed across the pillow. I leaned in, intending to kiss her awake, but the memory of the howl I’d heard in the middle of the night flashed through my mind. That howl had been unlike anything I’d ever heard. Powerful, commanding, and haunting, it sent a shiver down my spine, for not knowing who it was also. For a moment, I considered it again. Could it have been…? “Damien,” Freya murmured sleepily, breaking my thoughts. She slid closer, her hands brushing my back before trailing over my chest. “You’re awake early,” she said, her voice teasing as she pressed her lips to my shoulder. I turned to face her, pushing the thoughts of the howl aside. Freya climbed on top
“Kaiden.” I screamed as the rogues began to make their way into the cottage. We were outnumbered for sure. The rogues attacked quickly, their movements were fast and furious.Kaiden shifted into battle mode, his fists and claws striking the first rogue that had managed to break into the room. With one slash the rogue was thrown out of the cottage. I stood frozen in shock.I had never seen Kaiden fight, I looked at him admiring his strength and a feeling of relief washed through me. Suddenly I had strength to fight too, I can’t die now, not when I haven’t gotten my revenge on Freya and Damien. I tried to fight too, throwing vials of herbs and anything I could touch at the rogues, but one of them had attacked me out of no where, he managed to land a blow at my side. Pain shot through me, and I gasped, stumbling backward. The edge of my mask tore, slipping halfway down my face. “Amelia!” Kaiden roared, his voice was filled with anger as he raced toward me.“I am fine.” I said quickl
Amelia’s Pov “What is it?” I asked, alarmed.Kaiden sniffed the air, his jaw tightening. “Blood, he said grimly. “Human blood.”My heart sank as we followed the scent, the smell of death pulling us closer, goosebumps filled my body, memories that I had tried so hard to forget flooded back into my mind. The sight before us made me grasp in horror. I covered my mouth with my hands.A trail of dead bodies stretched before us, their lifeless forms scattered across the ground. “Who… who did this? I whispered, my voice trembling.Kaiden’s expression darkened as he bent down, inspecting the body of a middle aged man. I stayed behind Kaiden, I couldn’t bring myself to look.Kaiden stood up silently and started inspecting the other bodies. The last body had been sprawled near a sharp drop-off, its pale face turned to the sky. From there, the trail seemed to vanish completely. I paused, scanning the area as confusion set in. “Rouges?” Kaiden said, his voice low. We returned back to the c
Damien’s PovIf locking Freya in the dungeon was the price for peace, then so be it. She was loud, insufferable, and incapable of understanding boundaries. At least now, she was silenced. But the quiet that followed her absence was short-lived, interrupted by something else gnawing at the edges of my thoughts. I hadn’t seen Alpha Kaiden or Lady Tatia. At first, I dismissed it, assuming they were simply avoiding me, but as the hours stretched into a full day, their absence became glaringly obvious. Finally, I asked the guards. “They went out,” one of them reported, bowing slightly. “They won’t be back for a few days.” A slow smile spread across my face. “Perfect. I can do whatever I want without their interference.”I made my way to Lady Tatia’s workshop first. The room smelled faintly of herbs and something else, something sharp and medicinal. My eyes scanned the shelves and counters, but everything seemed perfectly ordinary. Nothing suspicious. Undeterred, I moved on to
Amelia’s Pov“We’ll be leaving for a few days,” I said, stepping into Lady Bella’s quarters. Lady Bella sat in front of the mirror, carefully combing her hair, her lips curled into a smile, but her eyes were almost lifeless, just enough to tell me she was faking a smile. She paused, her hands freezing in the air. “Leaving?” she asked, her voice laced with false concern. Kaiden stood beside me, his arms crossed, a silent yet commanding presence. I glanced at him briefly, catching his eye, a mischievous smile found its way on my lips. It was time to play a game with the Luna.“Yes,” I said firmly. “We’ll be away for a little while. It’s not permanent.” Lady Bella’s smile faltered. “Where are you going? Why would you leave? Who will tend to Alpha Donovan?” I tilted my head, letting a small smile tug at my lips. “We had a pack before we came here, Lady Bella. Surely you don’t expect us to stay forever.” Her eyes narrowed slightly, her grip tightening on her brush. “But the Al
Amelia’s POV “Kaiden,” I said, my voice low as we stepped outside. “What’s happening over there?” In the distance, we saw Damien running, his usually composed demeanor completely shattered. It seemed they weren't done with their argument. Freya trailed behind him, shouting angrily, her voice carrying across the courtyard. “Damien, stop!” she screamed. “You can’t keep running away from this! You started it and you must end it” He spun around abruptly, his face twisted with fury. “You’re unbearable, Freya! Just leave me alone!” The argument escalated quickly, their voices clashing like a storm. Before anyone could intervene, Damien slapped her across the face. The sound echoed in the courtyard, and Freya, not one to back down, retaliated with her own slap. I watched from the sidelines, my heart cold but amused. These two fools were tearing themselves apart, just as I’d hoped. At the edge of the scene, Lady Bella stood in the shadows, her arms crossed and an amused smile p
Amelia’s PovSitting across from Kaiden during our private dinner felt like a small victory. I saw the cracks forming in Damien’s usually composed appearance earlier that day, and I knew I had struck a nerve. That was my plan all along, to unsettle him, to rattle his pride, and to make him seem like an unstable leader in front of his pack. If Damien couldn’t maintain his composure, the pack would see him for what he truly was, weak and fragile. And in this pack, weakness meant failure. I was speaking softly to Kaiden about the next phase of my plan when a loud knock interrupted us. Kaiden’s brow furrowed, and I rose to open the door, only to find Freya standing there, looking frantic and disheveled. “I need something,” Freya said breathlessly as she stepped inside. I arched an eyebrow. “What could you possibly need from me?” “Something to help Damien,” she said quickly, wringing her hands. “He’s restless. He’s losing himself. He hasn’t been the same since...” She trailed o
Damien’s PovThe sound of her voice, shrill and furious, grated on my ears like nails on glass. Freya was ranting again, her words slamming into me with relentless force. “How could you?” she screamed, her face red with anger and streaked with tears. “With a maid, Damien? A maid? Have you fallen so low that you would stoop to this? What is wrong with you?” Her hand flew across my face again, the sting of her slap igniting the simmering rage inside me. “Freya!” I shouted, grabbing her wrist before she could hit me again. “What were you doing with Alpha Kaiden then? You think I don’t see you chasing after him like a dog? You think I don’t know you’re trying to replace me?” Her eyes widened, her lip trembling, and for a brief moment, I saw the hurt beneath her fury. But then it was gone, replaced by a fresh wave of anger. “Let me go!” she yelled, yanking her hand free. “You’re pathetic, Damien! You can’t even hold your self down in this pack anymore, and now you’re dragging us
Amelia’s PovKaiden’s warm hand slipped into mine, and I looked up at him, smiling softly. “I’ll do just that, my Lord,” I said, my voice teasing yet it was genuine. He smirked in response, pulling me close as we made our way outside. The morning air was fresh, carrying a hint of the woods beyond the packhouse. I felt so powerful with him by my side. Only the Moon Goddess herself knew what he had in mind to do to me once my plans came to fruition. Freya and Damien would tear each other apart, Lady Bella’s schemes would crumble, and then, I would take from them the very thing they had stolen from me, my pack. Kaiden squeezed my hand lightly, pulling me from my thoughts. He seemed deep in his own, likely already setting his part of the plan into motion. When I reached Damien’s chambers, I paused briefly at the door, inhaling deeply before stepping inside. Damien was lounging by the window, his brooding gaze lost in the horizon. “Lady Tatia,” he greeted, his voice was so smooth
Amelia’s PovWaking up very early the next morning, my thoughts were all over the place. I really need to make Kaiden very happy. The look he had on his face last night had me thinking so much about how hurt he had been, but to show him that he mattered to me, I needed to do something. Something really special.I had hurt him, and it was clear I took him for granted. If I was going to pull through the chaos surrounding us, I needed him by my side, not questioning his place in my heart. For once, I would make Kaiden happy, truly happy, even if it was just for a moment. I slipped into the kitchen, much to the surprise of the staff. The maids stared in confusion as I gathered the items I needed. “Lady Tatia,” one of them summoned the courage to ask cautiously, “Should we assist you?” “No,” I said firmly, my tone leaving no room for argument. “I’ll handle this myself.” They stepped back, though their curious eyes followed my every move as I prepared breakfast. It was nothing
