A Step Further

[Knight’s POV]

“What will you have me do?”

As Desmond’s response leaves his lips, I feel a sense of pride over how strong my mate is becoming. She was nothing like the woman I knew back at Hunters Moon, and even though I would miss that adorable meek woman, I was falling in love all over again with the woman in front of me.

“I need a few members of your pack to accompany me to my mother’s pack’s territory.” Tatiana responds. “I don’t intend for there to be any issues, but you truly never know.”

“Is that it?” Desmond chuckles. “I was expecting it to be a lot worse.”

“That’s it,” she assures him. “Five or six will be enough.”

“And when you get there, what do you intend to do?” He pushes.

“I’ll figure it out when the time comes.”

With that, Desmond gives a nod before relaxing in his seat.

“Then I suppose I’ll wait to see what happens.”

“That’s all we can do,” I chuckle, though I’m nervous for what tomorrow brings. “We will be heading out then.”
