Miranda POV
As I run through everything about my childhood and who I am Lily sits there with tears in her eyes. Her sadness isn’t for me today but rather for me as a young child and all that I had missed out on. Not wanting to join her in that sadness, I smile and remind them there is good news.
“Now that Rick and I are mated and because my mark is on him as well, we are hybrids,” I say in a rushed voice. Both Lily and Jared sit there in shock. “What does this mean?” Jared asks first. “What kind of skills do you have?” Lily jumps in eager to learn more.
Rick holds up his hand, “We don’t know a lot yet, but we wanted to tell you. This could mean a fight with the Witch Council, particularly if they try to take Miranda from me,”

Jared POV Lily had started teaching this week. She was thrilled. She had a class of Grade 3 students and she wanted to bring them all home. I reminded her the pup’s parents may not like that, to which she chuckled. I loved seeing the excitement on her face talking about all the children and I couldn’t wait until we had a pup of our own. Lily was going to be an amazing mother. We had spent the week trying to learn as much as we could about Rick and Miranda’s marks. Miranda spent much of her time in the library and online trying to learn what she could. Yes, we do have some underground online sites we can search out all information related to werewolves. You just need to have the secret access, which select Packs had.
Miranda POV We headed back up to the Pack house leaving Elder Morris to ponder the love of his life. I felt a little sorry for him – I couldn’t imagine my mother being very kind but stranger things have happened. Who would have thought I would fall in love with a wolf? “Well, that, ladies and gentlemen, was my whirlwind of a mother,” I say to the group. They nod their heads considering what she had said. Alex spoke up, “Do you all come and go the same way? Do none of you travel like regular people?”. Laughing, “Most of us teleport as it’s easier and faster. But yes, the odd times we do travel like regular people,” I reply. “I guess it saves the environment,” Alex says shrugging. “What do we do now?” Jared asks.&nbs
Rick POV The night Miranda had finished her first shift had exhausted her. When we returned to our clothes, I helped her get dressed and carried her back to our suite. She had already been asleep when I slid her into bed. She had more fun than she had expected and was looking forward to her next run. As soon as everyone learned she had shifted, we had agreed we needed to start training her for her protection. She was a quick study, catching onto the different defense moves. Today we were moving toward training her in offense. She had shifted into her wolf a couple times now. As I had promised her the first shift was the hardest and she was shifting faster and with less pain. Soon she would be able to shift in motion. &nbs
Miranda POV“My father?” I ask confused. I had never met my father. I never knew who he was. It wasn’t unusual in our world to not know who fathered us. As I had said, we weren’t close to our families. “How would he even know about me?” I asked my mother. “He’s always known, Miranda. He’s a powerful man, with many powers. I had no idea he would be tracking your progress,” she says sadly.“How could he track my progress?” I ask. “He has the gift of sight; he can see the future,” she replies. “What has he seen?” I ask desperately. “I have no idea, we only heard rumblings that he was coming out of hiding. He’s been hiding since your birth, putting his plans together for when the time was right,” she says sounding very upset.“Why is the Witch’s Council sending me on an assignment tomorrow?” I ask. “On assignment, what do you mean?” she asks. I explained I had placed a call to my contact who advised I needed to go in tomorrow and to expect to be away for a month. She gasped, “He’s
Miranda POV The past three days had been a whirlwind. When Lily was set on a mission she delivered. As I sat there having my hair done, I was shocked to see Lily come in all ready and passing me a glass of champagne. She had a stunning dress on, as always. She was wearing a black gown, which fell to her ankles. The bottom of the gown had a slit up to the thigh of her right leg. The top of the dress had sleeves with a vee neck. The back had a tiny button closure at the top with an opening to her waist. She wore gold jewelry to accent the dress and stay in line with the Pack colors. She had brought me in a gift as well. As she passed it to me, my hands shook. I gasped as I opened it. Inside was a white gold necklace with a diamond at the centre of the necklace.
Jared POV It had been a couple weeks since the Beta Female ceremony. Everyone had been walking on eggshells and tensions were running higher among the Pack. We were waiting for an enemy we couldn’t see or prepare for. We were as prepared as we could be. With the power that Melinda released on everyone, our warriors were stronger than they had been. They were fighting harder and were able to shift to their wolves faster. Everyone was in awe of Melinda and her power. She trained alongside everyone, sparring in both human and wolf form. You would think she had been a wolf her entire life, the way she fought. Rick was proud of his mate. We were all proud to have her as our Beta Female. Lily’s headaches had
Miranda POV “Elder Morris?” I ask. I’m confused. This gentle man cannot be behind the attacks on the Black Shadow Pack. He just couldn’t be. He smiles as he comes to stand before me. “Aren’t you going to ask me, Miranda?” he says. “Ask you what?” I ask him cautiously. “If I’m your daddy dearest, of course,” he says. This is not the same man we have all known as Elder Morris. He’s speaking too coldly for anything else to make sense. “Elder Morris, you aren’t my father,” I reply cautiously. “Of course, I’m not your father Miranda. I am your father’s ally in his attempts to get you back. Your mother took you from him many years ago. Do you even remember your father, Miranda?” Elder Morris asks. “No,” I answer confused. I could not wrap my head around how Elder Morris knows my father. “He was a good man a
Rick POV Standing back, I put my hands on top of my head. This has been a long ass night and getting rid of the dead will take more time. Looking at my warriors, I can see they are exhausted, but I am grateful to every one of them for standing with Miranda, her mother and me. As I look at Elder Morris’s body I am saddened to see Miranda’s mother draped over his body. We knew there would be casualties in this war, but you are never prepared for the losses. Pulling Miranda into my arms again, I murmur to her we need to go. I need to check on Jared, Alex, and Lily. “You go ahead, Rick, I am going to stay with my mother and then I will be along,” Miranda says. Kissing the top of her head, “I’m proud of you baby,” I say to her before I shift to take off back to the Pack hospital.
Jared POV It’s been four months since I woke up after the big fight. Things quickly got back to normal. Lily’s pregnancy progressed with many challenges and bed rest, which drove all of us crazy. She did not do well not being able to move. But she would do anything for the pup. I was holding our newborn Alpha while Lily slept. She had just delivered him. After a lengthy labour, it was decided we needed to do an emergency caesarian for the safety of both the pup and Lily. Doctor Kent didn’t know if Lily would be able to have any more pups, but we wouldn’t worry about that today. Today was a day to celebrate. Our pup was born, Alex Richard Montgomery. We both agreed we wanted to name our son after Alex. Not onl
Lily POV Three weeks we have been waiting for Jared to wake up. Three weeks of increased anxiety. My wolf, Missy, has not been able to reach Jared’s wolf. We haven’t had any encouraging movements from him. No hints that he is waking. The tubes have been removed from his throat, so he is breathing on his own now. He simply isn’t waking up. Rick has taken over running the Pack. We had to lay Alex and the other warriors to rest. We couldn’t wait any longer for Jared to wake up. We hadn’t wanted to tell him of our losses but we had to so he would know we were going forward with the traditional services for our lost. Not that we knew if he heard us or understood. Elder Morris conducted the services for us.&n
Lily POV Pregnant. I am pregnant. “How is this possible, Doctor Kent?” I ask confused. I knew it was a remote possibility. I had prayed to the Moon Goddess for this moment, but I had expected to be able to share it with Jared. “I admit, Luna, it’s a shock to me. A pleasant shock, mind you,” Doctor Kent replies. Nodding I’m confused and scared. “Did my shifting do any damage to the pup?” I ask the doctor. “No, it seems your wolf protected the pup. It’s still early days of your pregnancy, but you are most definitely pregnant, Lily,” the doctor says gently. “I want to caution you Lily. This is a high-risk pregnancy, Lily. You need to take care of yourself. Eat properly, don’t neglect your health as we wait for the Alpha to come out of his coma. You need to be pr
