Thus he continued running and made the touchdown!
“YEEEESSS! RAF! RAF!” the crowd started screaming.
He made it! I can’t believe it! But how? I was really impressed. Mia and I ran down to congratulate boys. “Congratulations!” I screamed to Lincoln and Dylan. I wanted to find Raf to tell him that he was amazing, but I couldn’t find him. I thought that probably he was in the locker room to drink some water or something. He definitely was there, but not for what I assumed. He was there kissing Charlotte. Ew. Ew. Ew. Can I just get this picture out of my head? I guess no. I went to Dylan and Linc.
“Damn, guys! You were fantastic. You definitely know how to make Jordan’s blood boil!” I said looking around to see Jordan.
He was, as I expected, red as tomato and he was yelling on his teammates about how shitty players they are. Such a loser.
“Hey, Jordan! I always knew you were a loser, but now I am sure about it!” Dylan screamed for Jordan to hear.
We laughed.
“Guys, where is Jeremy?” Mia asked.
I didn’t notice that he wasn’t there during the game, but I definitely saw him in the beginning.
“Shawn, have you seen Jeremy?” Linc asked.
“No, he went somewhere in the beginning and didn’t return,” he replied and left the field.
I called Jeremy but he declined the call. I called him again and he answered.
“Jeremy! Damn! Where are you? You missed the game!” I asked, cracking my fingers.
“I am at home. It’s not a good time to talk. I will talk to you later!” he said and hung up on me.
“Where is he?” Mia asked.
“At home,” I answered confusingly.
“What-“ Linc yelled
“I think something happened. He will explain later” I cut in and looked at my phone, checking if he texted me.
But there weren’t any new messages.
“Guys, let’s celebrate!” I heard Raf screaming.
He walked to us with Charlotte near him.
“Yeah! Let’s do it!” Dylan said.
“Let’s go!” Lincoln said and went to the locker room to change.
Mia and I waited for them outside near the car.
“What happened to Jeremy?” she asked me suddenly, while I was looking down.
“I don’t know. But his voice was really strange. I think he will tell us tomorrow!” I said putting my hands together.
Mia nodded and said:
“Where did you go when we were congratulating guys, by the way?”
“Oh, I went searching for Raf to congratulate him,” I said, remembering what I had seen and vomited deep down.
“And did you find him?” she asked and smirked cunningly.
“Yeah, but I couldn’t bother his and Charlotte’s making out session,” I said and scrunched my nose with a smile.
“And?” she asked.
“And...What?” I asked.
“Oh, come on, we all know that-“ she was interrupted by guys coming out of the school.
“Sis, are you coming with us?” Linc asked.
“Oh, I don’t know. I have a lot of things to do-“
“Princess, let’s go. It will be funny!” Dylan interrupted.
I smiled at him and he did the same. I rolled my eyes and said:
“I’m coming!”
“Yeah, Princess, you are cool!” Dylan said, puttinh his hand over my shoulder
“You too,” I chuckled.
We sat in the car. Mia was driving, Lincoln sat in the passenger seat near Mia. I was in the middle of Raf and Dylan.
“God, I’m tired,” Dylan said and put his head on my shoulder.
“You are lying. You can’t get tired so easily!” I said and chuckled.
“You are right, but your shoulder is really comfortable,” he said and caught some strands of my hair.
I was also tired after the work, so I put my head on his one.
“It’s so cute! We are like a brother and a sister!” Dylan said.
“Will you shut up?” Raf asked angrily.
“You are just jealous, jerk!” Dylan said.
I started laughing.
“Jealous of you?” Raf asked.
We finally came to the cafe and we got out of the car.
“Yeah, because I have such a friend like Kylie, and you don’t have!” Dylan said as we stopped near the car. I didn’t really know when we had become friends, but okay.
“Please, I don’t need such a person like Kylie in my life!” Raf said.
Ouch. I know that we like dislike each other but I didn’t know that he saw me that way.
“Wow, thank you!” I exclaimed.
“Ky-“– he started, but I didn’t want to hear any more word coming from his mouth.
“Screw you! I won’t bother you anymore. Notwithstanding the fact that you were the one who wanted to talk to me,” I said and went quickly to the cafe.
“Princess!” I heard Dylan calling me but I wanted to start and end this celebration as quickly as possible.
This cafe was familiar to me. I was there once with Mia and Jeremy. It was called Daisy. This cafe was purple and pink. I liked the style but it was painted in too vibranr colours as for me. I sat near Mia and then Dylan came and took a seat next to me. Raf sat near Lincoln.
“I want to wash my hands. Who is coming with me?” Lincoln said.
Mia and Dylan got up with Lincoln and they went to the bathroom. Great, Raf and I were left alone.
“Listen, Peanut. I-“ he started.
“Stop it! I understand that I’m not as cool as Charlotte, that’s why you don’t want to talk to me. You know, I got used to it. My whole life everyone made it clear that they didn’t want me in their life. Probably it’s because my glasses, like I look like a nerd or something. But I just want people who really care about me. And you are definitely not the one. You will now say that you are sorry, but you are not,” I trailed off and put my legs on the seat, playing with my fingers nervously.
“I am,” he said and I lifted up my head. “I am sorry. I just was angry because of Jordan and I wanted to hurt someone.I just blurted out some stupid words I didn’t even mean!” he said and looked out the window.
We sat in the silence. I was disappointed, but why? He was exactly that type of person who judged the book by its cover, the look is the priority for him and nothing more and nothing less was needed. I guess, I was a fool to believe that he wasn’t like that. I felt bad, like my throat was tightening because I got tired of such conversations. He said that he didn’t mean it. Was it the truth? No! Kylie, stop! You know what people like him need.
Guys came and we started ordering the food. A blonde girl came to take the order. She was looking at Raf and smiling. Raf was looking at his phone, not paying any attention at her.
“Can I take your order?” she asked really loudly, probably for Raf to hear.
“Yeah...” Linc started telling her what we wanted. We just ordered 3 pizzas and 5 bottles of Coke.
“Are you sure you don’t want anything else?” she asked coming closer to Raf.
“I think my friends have already said that that’s all!” he answered, tapping something in the phone. When the girl saw that Raf wasn’t paying any attention on her she left angrily. We started eating. Suddenly my phone started ringing. I took it and saw “Mom” on it. I was looking at the screen.
“Who is it? Take it!” Lincoln queried.
I didn’t want to take it. Lincoln took the phone from my hands and looked at the screen.
“You still haven’t changed the name of this number, have you?”
“No, and I won’t do it. You know why!” I said adjusting my glasses.
He accepted the call and went out to talk.
“Who was it?” Mia asked.
I shook my head and covered m face with my hands. I looked around and saw Dylan and Raf staring at me.
“Are you okay, Princess?” Dylan asked and Raf rolled his eyes.
“I’m fine,” I answered.
Lincoln came back and gave me the phone. We continued talking. I was quiet as Raf was too.
“Guys, I have to go. I have some things to do at home. Congratulations again, boys!” I said and everyone got up.
I hugged Mia and Dylan and went out of the cafe. I was going to the bus stop, but then I heard Raf striding my way.
“Wait! Peanut!” he screamed.
“What? And why are you calling me peanut?” I asked.
“It’s a secret!”– he said.
“What do you want, Raf. I am tired and I want to sleep!” I stated.
“I wanted to give you a lift,” he answered and stretched the back of his neck.
“No, thank you. Go back. I will wait for a bus,” I said and continued going.
He grabbed my hand and pulled it.
“No, it’s dangerous at this late hour, I will give you a lift. Let’s go!” he said and pulled me to the car.
I pulled out my hand from his.“What do you want? You can’t just be the jerk one second, and then be a good boy another second. You made it clear that we shouldn’t be friends. And I agree with you, finally,” I said and turned my back.
“I gather you haven’t forgiven me, but I want to drive you home. And then it’s your choice to forgive me or not,” he was saying loudly and strictly.
I went to the car and sat inside. He started driving, whereas I was looking outside the window not to meet his eyes.
“Did you like the game?” Raf asked me, breaking the silence.
“Yeah,” I answered.
“Have you seen Jordan’s face?”
“Yes, he was angry.”
Then he looked at me and understood that I didn’t want to talk to him.
When we arrived, I started opening the door.
“Thank you!” I said matter-of-factly, not facing him.
“I hope you will forget about it, eventually!” he said and I closed the doors.
I approached the threshold of my house and knocked at the doors. I looked back to see him in the car still there. It looked like dad hadn’t been at home yet. I took the keys and opened the doors. I glared at him one last time and closed the doors. I quickly went to the windows to see if he had already driven away. He was still there. I went to my room and changed my clothes. I looked at the window one more time and saw that he hadn’t gone. Why? I went to the bathroom to have a quick shower and brushed my teeth. Then I changed into my pajamas and lied down on my bed. I remembered again the words, which Raf had said to me earlier. I had felt so picked on, but now it got worse. I went to the mirror to look at myself. Yeah, I didn’t change. I was still the nerdy Kylie, ugly girl.
I looked at the mirror really often, hoping to see something new and something that I would like. But it was senseless. I’m not a character of a happy book in which the nerd changes and becomes the most popular person in the world.
I looked out the window again. He wasn’t there. He left.
I was sleeping, when I heard some noises. I really wanted to ignore them, but they started getting louder every second. I couldn’t stay asleep so I woke up. I looked around, but couldn’t see anything properly, because it was dark and I was still sleepy. I scrunched my eyes and opened them widely. “Why?” I heard someone saying. “Who is it?” I asked frightened. But I couldn’t hear nor see anything. Damn, I am seeing ghosts now. Great. I closed my eyes and put my head down to continue sleeping.“Kylie, I’m hurt!” I heard a familiar voice whispering. I opened my eyes and looked around again. My heart was beating like crazy. I was really scared.“Who is here?” I asked, switching on my lamp. “Kylie, help me!” I heard the same voice again. I tried to recollect whose voice it was.“Jeremy?” I
Steven looked at him. I guess he is Steven Kirby and they know each other. “King! Long time no see!” Steven said with a smirk and got up to be at the same level with Raf. “And it was a very happy time,” Raf said coming closer.“Good morning, students. Take your seats!” teacher said. “I want to sit here!” Raf screamed at the girls sitting behind me and Steven. They got up and left. “We should talk!” he whispered in my ear. I ignored him. We talked with Steven and sometimes Raf was throwing pieces of paper on him. Steven was quiet but I knew that he was getting annoyed. After the lesson I went to cafeteria. I sat near Jeremy and Mia. Lincoln, Raf and Dylan came and sat with us. “What was wrong with you in the morning? Why were you in such a rush?” Linc asked me. I looked at Jeremy.
The first period finished and I quickly left the classroom to meet Jeremy and Mia before the second period would start. I got to the lockers to put the book in my locker. Next period was Physical Education. Mia and Jeremy would be there. I went to the locker-room to put on my sport clothes. I met Mia there. We got ready and went to the field. Mr. Peters said that we should start running. I haven’t seen Jeremy anywhere.“Where is Jeremy?” I whispered to Mia. She shrugged and we continued running.“What happened? Are you keeping something from me?” she asked suspiciously.“No! Relax, we aren’t keeping anything from you. I’m just...curious!” I said with a soft smile. She looked at me and turned around. I sighed. Thank God, she didn’t start interrogating. “Hey, Walker!” Raf suddenly came out from nowhere and screamed.“Hi,” I said mat
I went out the house with the keys in my hand. I closed the doors and started locking them. I saw Raf leaning on his car with his hands crossed around his chest. He was looking aside. I think he didn’t notice me coming. I sighed one more time and made my way to the car. My boots made sure that he knew that I was coming. It had a little heel and I started cursing my boots for making noises. I guess, I wanted him to notice me as late as possible. He turned his head and noticed me. He looked at me and suddenly his eyes widened. I was worried. Was it good or bad? I came closer to the car and his jaw dropped even more. I stopped near Raf and said awkwardly:“Hey,”“Hey,” he said after some time.I noticed him checking me from feet to the top of the head.“Are we ready to go?” I asked, playing with fingers.“Yeah, of course!” he said and dashed to the other side of the car.I
“The thing is: I don’t care!” Steven said and smirked. The next thing I knew was Raf’s fist connecting with Steven’s jaw. The blood appeared on his lip, I guess he hit not only the jaw. Steven wiped the blood and grinned. Then he hit Raf in the stomach. Dylan started pushing them away from each other, but Raf was concentrated on hurting Steven. Lincoln ran quickly and helped Dylan stop the fight.“Guys, stop!” I screamed as Mia came too.“Okay, okay! We will stop!” Raf said with his hands in surrender. Raf pulled my hand and we were outside.“I told you that he was dangerous! Why wouldn’t you listen to me for once?” he started yelling.“I-“ I started. “Your pride spoils everything! But I thought that you would listen to me, because it was for your own
What the hell?! I started ringing Jeremy back. *Call declined* I called him one more time. *Call declined* Ughhh. I texted Jeremy:What do you mean? Oh Jeremy, what did you get yourself into this time?Jeremy?!But he didn’t answer. Then I noticed that he had seen my texts. He started typing... And then he left the chat. I didn’t know what to do. I couldn’t go searching for him in the middle of the night. Moreover, I didn’t know where I should have searched for him. I decided to call his mom. Maybe it was a bad idea, but I didn’t have any good ones. I dialed Mrs. Huss’s number.“Hello?” she answered after a few seconds.“Hello, Mrs. Huss. This is Kylie!” I exclaimed.“Hello, dear. What happened?” her voice softened.“Sorry to disturb you so late! But do you know where Jeremy is?” I qui
“Ohh, I got it!” Lincoln added with a laugh.“What are you talking about?” Mia cut in.I noticed that she was very quiet this whole time.“I think, someone whose name starts with C and ends with Harlotte has here something to do!” Dylan started laughing.I rolled my eyes.“Guys, cut the crap!” Raf screamed and got up. “See you at the practice!”“What the hell was it?” Dylan asked.Lincoln shrugged and they continued talking about Coach and football. Really, what was it? The rest of the lessons passed as usually. Most of the time I was looking out the window. I liked the weather. It was autumn and I could feel light breeze hitting my face, because window was opened. People say that this season is a romantic one, but I have never understood it. For me it was a normal season, which comes after Summer and it gives us a chance
The next day started as always. I waited for Jeremy to text me about what had happened, but he didn’t. I hoped that we would meet each other at school. When Linc and I got to school, I noticed Mia and Gill standing near the school. They were fighting as it was visible that they were angry, especially Mia. That’s why it was hard to notice them, they wanted to talk in private. I hope everything would be alright. They had been fighting a lot recently.“What are you looking at?” Linc asked me, closing the doors of the car.“Mia and Gill are quarreling!” I answered, pointing at them. Linc followed my gaze.“Why?”“I have no idea. But they have had a lot of arguments.”“They will be alright.”Then I saw Dylan and Raf sitting there and looking at us.“Hey, guys!” I exclaimed.“Hey, Walkers!” Raf said.Dyla
“Are you serious?” I asked shocked. He nodded and pulled me to the helicopter. “But what about our friends and family?” I continued. “The plane will take them! Let’s go!” he yelled and we went inside. “We are going to be pilots, Mrs. King to be,” Raf stated. “Really?!” I asked shocked. He nodded and I ran to the pilot seat and put the headphones on which I found there. He sat on the other seat. The whole flight I had a big smile plastered on my face. I was so happy. It seemed like that whole day was about surprises, shock and happiness. That what my life has been consisted of, since we became a couple. But now we are going to be a wife and a husband! As we landed the helicopter, we saw the plane landing too. It was the rented plane for our guests. The car arrived and we went to the registry office. I wouldn’t tell you how it was, but as we were engaged, we were about to go to the wedding. It was too fast and unexpected
10 years later...“Mommy!” I heard a thin voice calling me.“Daddy!” the other one continued. I woke up and so did Raf.“Merry Christmas!” I said sleepily and took Isabelle on the bed.“Merry Christmas!” Raf exclaimed and took Adam on the bed.“Are you ready to unwrap your gifts?” I asked kids.“Yes!” they screamed in unison and ran out of our room. Raf and I chuckled and turned to face each other.“Merry Christmas, Peanut!” he exclaimed, rubbing his finger on my cheek.“Merry Christmas!” I exclaimed and kissed him.“Let’s go?”“Yes, but wait a little bit!”“Do you remember Christmas 6 years ago?” I asked, laughing.“It’s hard to forget.” He chuckled. 6 years ago...“Ky
She nodded.“The surgery went successfully! She is cancer free! Congratulations!” doctor exclaimed. We breathed out. It was a great relief.“Thank you, Doctor! You saved our grandma!” dad exclaimed and shook his hand.“It’s my job! I’m happy to give you such news!” he continued and left. All of us hugged immediately. We were very happy. I couldn’t be more excited. A lot of things got better and it seemed like every other problem became nothing.“Dad, how many days should she stay in the hospital?” I asked.“4-7 days. I think everything will be alright. They just need to look after her, so the diseases don’t come back,” dad answered.“Okay.” I nodded.“But you have to go back to Spain.”“What?! I can’t leave my granny!”“We will look after her! It’s more than enough.
Next day was a great and a scary one. Granny had to get her operation done. We were happy about her getting rid of cancer, but of course, every surgery without exception was regarded as a dangerous and a serious one. But that morning was a happy different and the best one. I woke up, understanding that soon Raf was going to come and there wouldn’t be an awkward silence or the pain beating in the chest, because of the unspoken words. There would be his hugs, support, love and the knowledge of his feelings for me. That was what I had been craving for since my mom died. I needed the person who would take care of me, understand and love me, the same way, she did once. And Raf appeared to be that person. People say, that there are parts in the world. They are divided at first, but the goal of the life is to find the lost half of your heart and soul. Ras was the one. He found the key to my heart which was lost and have never been found till
When we arrived at the same beach, as I was in the end of the last summer, it was evening. Soon would be the sunset, the way we wanted. The wind was warm but strong. Uncle took from the bag a blanket and put it down on the sand. We sat on it. “We brought some food!” dad exclaimed and took the basket full of food out of his trunk.“When did you manage to do it?” granny asked.“While you were playing in the amusement park, we ordered the food,” uncle explained.”It’s amazing!” I exclaimed. We started eating. There were a lot of sandwiches, bottles of coke, a big plate of salad and a huge cake. When we finished eating, Raf whispered:“Can we talk?”I nodded and he helped me to get up. I wanted to talk to him today too. And it was the best place and time for that conversation. We went a little bit farther and decided to go behind the huge stone.
I went downstairs and sat at the table. There wasn’t Raf. We started eating. I was thinking of the words I had to tell him. Maybe I was stupid, but it meant a lot for me. It was the first time I had ever fallen in love with someone and something told me that it was the last time. I needed to know if it was a reciprocated love. When we were done, we went outside to sit in the car. There was Raf. He was like always sitting on his motorbike. Everyone sat in the car and I sat next to him on the bike. We were driving to the park. I wasn’t distancing myself, I took a hold of his waist and put my head on his back. He looked at me, surprised of my action. Yes, I was confusing. One second I could run I away, but the next second I would pull him in my embrace. And I hoped he would be the only one who understood me. When we arrived to the park, we parked the car and bike and went inside.“I want to ride on carousel!” grandma sc
“Yes,” he answered.“But she said, that she wasn’t,” I said.“That’s for you to be okay. But I can see, how nervous she is. She is scared of dying, and it’s understandable,” dad said.“But is it dangerous?” I asked.“Every surgery is dangerous. But I’m sure that nothing bad will happen with her.”“That’s why she wants to have some fun, before it?” Linc asked.Uncle and dad nodded.“She wants to get distracted. And she wants to spend a lot of time with you, because she thinks that she won’t survive,” uncle added. “But we will make that day the best one. She has to relax and stop being nervous. Can’t it make everything worse?” I asked.“In some way yes, but don’t worry! Tomorrow we’ll make sure she will have a lot of fun. She will completely forget about her
Next day, we had to go the doctor’s appointment. It looked like she had to get her first chemotherapy. I woke up at 7:30 and started getting ready. I wore a pair of jeans, white T-shirt and trainers. I made a ponytail and put on some gloss. I went downstairs and saw guys sitting on the couch with grandma. Uncle and dad were cooking breakfast. I sat on the couch and joined the conversation. I noticed that Raf wasn’t there. Probably, he went home last night.“Good morning!” I said.“Good morning!” everyone said back.“What are you talking about?”“Nothing interesting,” grandma answered.I nodded. I knew exactly that they were lying, but I didn’t want to push it. When breakfast was ready, we sat together at the table and started eating. Everybody was silent. I guess they were tensed about the chemotherapy. We knew that everything would change. Her hai
He looked at his computer and started analyzing the results.“There is a pice of good news! It’s the first stage. It can be recovered. You just have to get some chemistry procedures and then the surgery will help you get better.”All of us breathed out.“How many procedures will there be?” I asked.“We can’t tell the exact amount, but not much,” he answered.“When can we start?” dad asked.“Come tomorrow at nine A.M.,” he said.“Thank you, Doctor,” dad stated and shook his hand.Uncle did the same. Then we left the hospital. “Don’t you want some ice cream?” granny asked us.“I do,” Linc answered.“Me too! Boys, buy some ice cream for us,” she tuned to uncle and dad.“Your wish is our command!” dad said.“We will go home! It’s such a fresh ai
