Izzat opened his eyes in confusion. He looked around curiously and was quite baffled by what he saw right now. He decided to stay rooted at the same place. He also needs to sort out his thought before leap out for his following action.
First and foremost, where is this? His mind is in a messy state.
One moment, he was standing in front of his faculty's office door in level 2, and the next moment, he has suddenly appeared in the middle of a big forest? Did he just teleported or something? Izzat took out his smartphone. No service? Perhaps, he is really in a forest! Did he just daydreaming, or did he experiencing a sleepwalking state?
Then, Izzat realized something crucial. The date on his phone is inaccurate. Today was supposed to be xx/xx/2021, yet, the date on his smartphone showed that he was in 2001. Am I the crazy one? He thought. Or is he really in the year 2001?
"Ah, I got a class with the Tigress of Astana Bintang today. I am in big trouble. If I skip her class without a good reason, she will ban me from entering her next class." Izzat sighed. "Fakhrul is still angry with me, and he's been ignoring and avoiding me these two days. Hah...Why did we fight in the first place anyway? Sure, he is annoying. But, his behavior is normally like that. Why would I snapped at him just because he pissed me off?"
Prakk!
Izzat's eyeing his surrounding in alertness. What was that?
A young girl appeared behind him, out of nowhere. But, the girl acted like she didn't saw him even though he is standing in front of her. She walked towards Izzat with her unfocused gazes and poof! She just walked through him! Izzat is dumbfounded. What is going on? Rather than sleepwalking, isn't it more accurate to claim that he died?
Wait a minute. Is Izzat's existence right now is a mere soul without a physical body?
Or is he actually didn't existed in this timeline? Does such an unbelievable occurrence actually happen?
The girl is walking around aimlessly. She had bypassed Izzat multiple times already. Girl, don't you realized that you're lost? Generally, people realized such an obvious thing by now.
After ten minutes or so, the girl stopped wandering in haziness and let out frustrated screams. Her noble look turned miserable. Right now, she resembles a crazy person more than a graceful lady.
"They lied to me! They lied to me! Unforgivable. Liars should all die!"
Izzat took several steps behind, distancing himself from the craze-like girl. He felt uneasy. Judging from her attitude just now, she might have a mental illness, such as depression or anxiety disorder. Whatever it is, he is not a counselor, and he cannot help her, nor he would. Both of them are separated by a different timeline. That's for sure. One existed in the past, and the other one lived in the future.
From a screaming madness, cursing, and weeping girl, she suddenly turned quite the next moment. She hugged her feet, and her body is swaying in rhythmic moves.
Izzat pinched his temples in distress. Ah, if I spend more time observing this girl, I also might go crazy. Izzat lamented in his heart. He really cannot deal with emotional people properly. Even dealing with a normal one took him a lot of effort, sometimes. He's a good listener, and unfortunately, a terrible advisor.
"Where is this place? Could somebody tell me?" The girl asked in a pitiful and sad voice. "Please? I wanted to go home."
"Even if I wanted to help, I also didn't know where this place is. It's not like you can hear me anyway." Izzat mumbled his reply.
The girl turned her head and looked straight in his direction.
Izzat flinched. Did...did she actually can hear him? No way, right?
"Pretty sister, are you lost?"A childish voice sounded behind him.
Izzat whipped his head. A child? Why is a child took an evening stroll in the middle of a big forest alone? Ah! Izzat gasped when he thought about something. Could it be...
The girl wiped her tears.
"Are you also lost?" She asked.
The child shook her head. She wore a pretty red dress, with both of her hairs tied in pigtails. The design is quite exquisite, with stylish black laces sewn at the end of the knee-length dress. A small butterfly clips decorating her hair. She also holds a teddy bear in her right arm.
"I lived here." She answered simply.
The girl tilted her head. She is doubting the sanity of the child in front of her.
"Here? But, this is a forest, right? Where is your home actually, little one?"
The child lifted her left index finger and motioning it in a specific direction.
"Over there, just around the corner. If you wanted to visit my home, I could show you the way. But, if you follow me home, pretty sister, you might not come back to the real world. Instead of that, if you decided to go home, I can help you." She showed her toothy smile, and a dangerous glint flashed in her beautiful blue eyes. "Of course, as compensation, I require something from you, pretty sister. After all, everything comes with some prices. So, what is your choice, Nurin Alisa?"
The girl's shocked expression is making the child chuckled in humor.
"How did you know my name?"
The child ignored her question and asked again, "Do you want to stay here? Or, do you want to go home? Choose wisely."
Lisa wobbled a little when she tried to walk.
"I want to go home."
The child's smile becomes wider.
"I heard you said, liars must all died. If you give me their names and pictures, as a token of our new builds friendship, I will help you punish them, pretty sister."
"Why...would you help me?"
"Because you are my friend, pretty sister. Friends should help each other, right? Or, you didn't want to be my friend since I lived in the middle of a forest? You must think of me as a crazy person, right?"
Lisa felt something stuck in her throat. Friend. One word struck deeper into her heart. How she longed for a friend since she entered Astana Bintang College. A friend by her side cares for her not because of her appearance and status. Someone that stood beside her without ulterior motive. Perhaps a true, genuine friend that sincerely cares for her well-being. Only that.
"Well?" The child holds out her tiny hand towards her. Expecting Lisa to take her hand.
"Please don't kill them. Just let those people suffered the karma that they brought upon themselves. Can you promise me this?"
The child pretended to think deeply before pouting. She blinked her eyes adorably, perfectly portraying herself as an innocent little girl.
"Hmph, for your sake, I will not kill them. I promise."
Lisa finally showed her smile. She reached out her hand and grabbed that tiny hand tightly as if grabbing onto a lifeline. Both of them disappeared into a thick, hazy fog that is inexplicably surrounding the area. The scenery finally changed. And, the next moment he opened his eyes, Izzat is standing in the middle of the hallway on level 2, alone.
The sky outside was already dark. Izzat checked his smartphone. Almost 7 pm. He lost himself in the memories of someone for two hours. And, no one realized his disappearance, well, minus Fakhrul, he did care for him though, even if he is indeed annoying.
Izzat felt a stinging heartache in his heart. He deeply sensed the longing and her disappointment toward reality. Is that the sole reason she jumped to her death? Why would someone choose such a painful way to end their life?
And, the mysterious child, who is she? No, the right question is, what is she?
Chemistry Lab. Faculty of Dental and Medicine. Asyraf heard about the commotion that happened during the new student's orientation week. "How're the girls? Are they okay? Did they recovered well?" His inquiry makes another student in the lab furrowed his eyebrows. "I never know that you're so thoughtful, Ash. Usually, you will condemn those people as attention seekers." John pinched his friend's cheek. "Are you Ash?" Asyraf slapped John's hand away. His face is clearly expressed if he(John) didn't answer his question right now, he's dead! "They got send home. What else?" John understood his silent threat, immediately replied. "The dean didn't want any bad rumors circulati
Fakhrul kept glancing at the main door every five minutes. It's almost seven in the evening. It is worrisome. Where is Izzat? The lecturer canceled their class. He should be back two or three hours ago. He felt uneasy. He cannot calm himself unless he sees his friend is safe and sound in front of him right now. "Didn't your class is canceled? Where is your anti-social friend went off to, Fakhrul? Did he have another friend to spend his time with?" Zhou Wei asked Fakhrul. Although they barely knew each other for less than a month, they could already grasp the others' personalities and attitudes. After all, boys tend to get closer faster than most girls. "I don't know. Since you mention it, I also find it weird for Izzat to be this late." Fakhrul had a worried expression on his face. "He hates socializing. If not because of the classes that he needed to attend, he will never set his foot outside of his comfort zone." "Are you able to contact him
Izzat keeps tapping his fingers on his study table. His thought is floating elsewhere, and no one could guess what is he thinking right now. While Fakhrul is sitting at the opposite side of his friend, waiting nervously for Izzat's following action. He wanted to apologize to Izzat for his childish behavior in those two days, but the words got stuck in his throat. Is Izzat still angry at him? Why didn't he said anything else? His face is stony and emotionless. What is he thinking? Will he get a punch on his face if he interrupted Izzat's thinking process? "Err...Izzat?" Fakhrul decided to be brave and speak out his mind. "Hmm?" "I...I am sorry, okay?" "Okay." "I just...wait, you're not angry?" Fakhrul was baffled by his friend's detached and casual response. Izzat sighed. "Why should I be angry? I am the one who lashed out to you. I started the fight, and I should be the first one to apologize. Well, I am sorry for my pr
Girl Residential College. The Neptune Building. Five silhouettes of human girls are sneaking up to the rooftop of the Neptune Building. Their action is considered suspicious as the rooftop is a forbidden area to enter, especially at midnight. Bam! "Slow down, stupid! The guards will notice that some people are intruding the rooftop in the middle of the night!" Sofia whispered in an angry tone. She glares at her friends behind her, who are giggling excitedly. "That is Thalia's fault. She is too nervous and accidentally slams away the door." Maria glances at Thalia, a girl with a messy ponytail that stands closer to the wall. "Coward. What are you scared of too? There are five people here, including you. Don't be a wuss." "I'm not a coward!" Thalia said back. "I just...I felt uneasy. Should we continue our plan? They said Hanna is still unconscious on her hospital bed, without any hint of recovery. What if..." "It's the same thing, silly
Maisarah is studying alone in her room. Her roommate, Zulaikha, had a group discussion and staying overnight at another dorm. She glances at the clock on the study table. 1.05 am. Hah, no wonder she felt tired and sleepy. Maisarah had stayed on her chair for about two or three hours, reading nonstop. She has a test tomorrow. She at least needs to prepare herself sufficiently before taking her exam. Her ranking is on the line.Bam!Maisarah is so startled because of the loud noise that she accidentally brushed aside her alarm clock. The clock fell on the floor with a loud thud. The batteries inside roll around outside its casket, one of them disappeared under her bed. She heaved out a deep sigh."Hah..." She patted her chest to calm herself. "That...what kind of person does such a rude and unruly thing? Where is their common sense? It's early in the morning. Luckily, I didn't have a heart problem."Maisarah didn't close her door, so she could saw the rude
Sofia, Rania, Maria, and Jane exchanging glances between one another. They stared at the pointy needle in Jane's hand and their fingers. "Must we prick our finger with the needle?" Maria swallowed her saliva. "Didn't it hurt?" "It's only a prick on your finger, dumbass. We only need a drop of blood from you." Sofia replied. "Why must we sacrifice our blood, though? Somehow, it's similar to a black metal ritual." Rania frowned. "I heard to ensure the effectiveness of the chant. Evil spirits are especially attracted to human blood, like a vampire. To them, blood is as precious as a wine to humans. Or maybe, a delicacy for them?" Jane unhesitatingly pricked her thumb with the needle. A thick red liquid appeared, and she dropped it on the coin in the bowl. "Your turn." "Are you sure it's okay?" Maria's face turned pale. She hates needles and injection needles! Those things brought unpleasant trauma to her. Jane rolled her eyes. She grabbed
"Spirit, spirit of the coin. Please come out and play with us! Spirit, spirit, of the coin. Please come out and play with us!" The girls said the chants in a unison voice and kept repeating them. As their voices become louder and louder, the dismay in their faces is becoming more evident. Rania felt disappointed. She wanted to say something, but the coin below her fingertip suddenly moved toward 'HOME'. She looked at her friends, and all of them bore a shocked expression. "Did, did you see that? The coin is moving by itself!" Maria exclaimed in awe. "This is ridiculous!" Janet couldn't believe the supernatural phenomenon that happened in front of her eyes. She throws an accusatory look towards her friends as she says in an irritated tone. "You guys move the coin, right, and don't pretend otherwise! Or, it is you, Sofia? You're the most mischievous one among us who dares to play a joke on me. Tell me the truth!" Sofia shook her head. A dreadful express
The little girl is laughing merrily. Her eyes are brimming with undisguised amusement. "I came. Wow, look at this. Pretty sister, you brought me many friends!" She said in her childish tone. "Yes," Lisa replied in a sad voice. She suddenly appeared beside the little girl and hugged her. "There are more friends to accompany us. Are you happy?" The little girl is grinning, and the smugness on her face is unconcealed. As soon as she hears such a question come out of Lisa's mouth, she laughs in glee. "Of course, pretty sister. I am more than happy. You brought tears to my eyes. I never thought for you to take such a bold move on innocent people's lives. Are you that desperate to make me happy?" "As long as you're happy." Lisa put herself in a squatting position to make her eyes level in the same line as the little girl and stare at the sapphire orbs that shine in mischievousness. Then, she is asking a similar question as ten years ago. "Little gir
Khairul, with a blank expression, stood in the middle of nowhere. The elevator stopped on the ground floor. Instead of familiar surroundings, he is greeted by dark, deserted underground parking lots. There's nothing here except pitch-black darkness and a wide space area. There's no car or any vehicle. The place is illuminated by fluorescent lamps that sometimes flickered in and out as if this building lacked electrical energy. It is not a weird occurrence. Since it is a deserted place, devoid of any living human, of course, electricity is sacred energy. Do ghosts use electricity? For what reason? Firstly, where is this? Which abandoned building was he stranded on? Can he go back? Is someone out there? I need to leave this creepy place this instant. Please, anyone. Khairul is desperately pleading in his heart. He is going to get crazy. He wanted to shout out and yell for help. However, he is afraid of suffering the
From afar, Johan saw his friend is squatting down in the elevator. He seemed to pick up something interesting on the floor. However, the next moment Johan blinks his eyes Khairul had mysteriously disappeared from there. The elevator is vacant! Johan dashed to the lift, meticulously checking the area in an attempt to find his friend. "Khairul? Where are you, jerk?! Answer me!" He whispered-yelled his friend's name. For ten minutes, he analyzed the place, yet, he found nothing. Not even a strand of his friend's hair, absolutely nothing! His search ended up as a failed quest. It is unbelievable, but, Khairul is undoubtedly missing. Poof! Like a smoke. He dispersed into thin air. Just like that, without any logical explanation. If magic is real, he could conclude that someone intentionally erases Khairul's existence. Or he is brought into another dimension. What should he do? Should he report this? He should, right? A grave matter, indeed. Johan b
(A/N : Beware. Disturbing description ahead.) The moon is shyly hiding behind the cloudy cloud. The atmosphere is chilly and breezy. Silence and tranquility shrouded the area as the clock hit the number three in the morning. Only the singing of the lively crickets heard from the nearby bushes. The Jupiter building is desolate from any loitering human as the students were sleeping soundly in their house, snuggling to their own thick and fluffy blanket. This night is as dark and starless as the previous night. Yet, only for today, which coincidentally falls on the night of Friday from all days in the week, has brought shivers down on everyone's spines with its eerie and creepy surrounding. The older people from the past called this night-Jumaat Keliwon. They believed, during this night, evil spirits eagerly searched for victims either to play around or to prey on them. And their blo
This particular chapter I made in an attempt to introduce my characters to the readers. Please, everyone, enjoy yourselves with this mini-theater. First week. Monday morning. Their first lecture is Professor Ghulam's class. Who is Professor Ghulam, you ask? He is their English Lecturer, a European man that migrated from France. His wife is a Malaysian woman. Professor Ghulam's actual name is Ghulam Stravosky. He is a fifty-three years old handsome man. He is the tallest male in the college, standing on imposing height of six feet and eight inches. With a fit body and impressive muscles underneath his tight black shirt, he gave out the vibe of someone you cannot trifle on. He had lengthy tousled blond hair. Professor Ghulam also had a pair of piercing sapphire eyes, chiseled jaws, and a straight nose. He is the epitome of a handsome older man with a charming personality. Despite his inexpressive face, he is a man that loves to crack a joke
"Thalia, help us, Please!" Thalia jolted away from her sleep. She had a brief nightmare about her missing friends. Thalia released a heavy sigh. She is sweating profusely, and her mind is experiencing sudden blankness. Thalia dumbly stared at her surrounding. Rather than sleeping on the bed, she lay on the floor without a blanket. And, her room is a mess! Thalia looks for her alarm clock. Her keen eyes stared at the round, black clock on the small drawer beside her bed. 7.30 am. Her class will start at 11.00 am. She still has enough time to fool around. She saw red black spots scattered everywhere on her floor and walls. That's must be Johnny's rotten blood. She scrunched her nose in displeasure while remembering her fresh encounter with the ghost. Luckily, the awful odor had dispersed, or she might have to wash, scrub and clean her room thoroughly. Which will spark curiosity in her housemate's hearts, and then, they will start asking her question after question. She might l
Thalia never gives up her quest in ascertaining Lisa's whereabouts despite Izzat's stern warning. She tried many dangerous tricks only to summon her. Although, her guarantee to success plans are all miserably fail. Well, it's actually hard to convene Lisa as she knows who Thalia is, and rather than appearing in front of her, Lisa chooses to play hide and seek with Thalia. First and foremost, what did she do to summon Lisa? The first thing that flashes by her mind is The Spirit of the coin, of course! She prepared the kinds of stuff required for the game in secret, and when all her housemates drifted to the land of sleeping, that's when she executed her plan. She admits it. She is indeed a silly girl for attempting to do something as dangerous as this. Thalia desperately needs to know the whereabouts of her friends. They are her first friend, the ones who never judge her, condemn her, and never once do they look at her with contempt, like the others from her high scho
"You're too harsh, Iz," Fakhrul said in an admonished tone. He felt slight pity looking at the girl's disappointed expression every time Izzat brushed her aside. "You ignore Thalia in the class, refused to answer her inquiry and disappeared like a ninja as soon as the class ended."Both are on their way to the cafeteria for recess after spending three hours in a boring yet thrilling and restless class of the most fierce lecturer in Astana Bintang, Professor Amna Husna. "Why should I be the seeker of your ridiculous hide and seek with her?""You can rest alone. I never ask you to accompany me." Izzat casually replied.I bet you're wondering who is this Amna Husna? Let me explain it here.Amna Husna is a beautiful name that befits a pretty person. Amna is for peacefulness, and Husna is for beauty. The name itself is the epitome of gracefulness.Although the reality is, she is not a calm person, and her personality is far from that. She is a time-tick
Lim gulped down his saliva. He is now standing in front of the toilet in level 2, Faculty of Business Management. The hallway is desolate of people, especially when approaching this place. This toilet is located at the end of the corridor and beside the emergency stairs. For some reason, the hair on his body is standing in awareness. He felt goosebumps are spreading out all over his body and a prickling feeling of uneasiness kept poking him. His right hand pushed the door after a minute of hesitation. From the slightly ajar door, he peeked inside. Look normal to him, he mentally said. "Hah, if not because I am lazy to use the stairs, I will never enter this toilet," Lim mumbled his words. "So creepy." Students rarely used this toilet as the only lecture hall that is currently in use are Lecture Hall 1 and 2. There is five lecture hall in every faculty building, and all the lecture halls are connected. They occupied from the first level to the third. Not all f
"Can you...can you also 'see them'?" She asked him in a hopeful tone. Both of them are staring at each other in silence. The time ticked by slowly, and it felt like an eternity had passed. Thalia suddenly snapped from her reverie.Izzat is leaning his body towards the wall with crossed arms. He amusedly eyed Thalia's reaction, his head tilted slightly. The girl seemed to realize an unimportant fact. That was the first time Izzat was reciprocating her intense gaze.Thalia quickly put a distance between the two of them and lowered her head in embarrassment. Her face reddened. The red color spread out to the tip of her ears and the back of her slender neck."What do you mean by that, Thalia? See what?" Rather than answering her question, Izzat pretended he didn't understand Thalia's inquiry."Those black and hazy mist that surrounds Lim's body this entire time. You saw them, right? Just like me."Izzat didn't deny nor agree with her accusation.
