Behind the billonaire's mask!
Chapter 3 Sophie's POV "What?" I couldn't believe what I had just heard and saw in the paper. "Be my woman and warm my bed" He said with a smirk. I felt like slapping him. What did he take me for? Do I look like a slut? And here I was thinking he looked like a model. Taah! Fuck those my thoughts! "Don't worry, to people you will be my wife, and it's only for eighteen months as stated in the contract," he added. "Do I look that cheap?" I asked, and tore the paper. "How will you even suggest that type of thing to a stranger?" Julian's smirk faltered for a moment, but he quickly regained his composure. "Ah, come now, Sophie. Don't be dramatic. It's just a mutually beneficial arrangement." "Mutually beneficial?" I repeated, incredulous. "You think using me as your sex toy is beneficial to me?" Julian shrugged. "You'll get to live a life of luxury, and your mother will receive the best medical care. What more could you want?" "I want respect," I said, my voice firm. "I want to be treated like a human being, not a plaything for your twisted desires." Julian's eyes narrowed. "You're not in a position to make demands, Sophie. You need me, and I'm willing to help... for a price." "I'd rather die than accept your proposal," I said, my heart racing with anger. Julian's face darkened. "Fine. If that's how you feel, then your mother will suffer the consequences." I felt a surge of fear, but I refused to back down. "You're disgusting," I spat. "I'll find another way to save my mother without selling my soul to you." Julian's smirk returned. "Good luck with that. You have less than three days to come up with the money. After that, your mother's fate is sealed." I turned to leave, but Julian's voice stopped me. "Sophie!" If he hadn't proposed that nonsense contract, I would have fallen for his voice once again. I turned back, my eyes flashing with anger. "I always get what I want. And what I want is you." I shuddered at the sinister tone in his voice, but I stood my ground. "Never," I said, before storming out of room. "Sophie!" I heard Isabella called as I left the room, but i didn't answer and just walked to the waiting room and sat on a chair there. I still can't believe what I had just experienced. What could be his motive? How could someone be so cruel? As I sat there, I heard the sound of footsteps approaching. I looked up to see Julian walking towards the exit, his eyes locked on mine. He stopped in front of me, a sly smile spreading across his face. "In case you change your mind," he said, dropping a business card on my lap. I picked it up and tore it into pieces without even checking it. "I'll never change my mind," I said, my voice firm. Julian chuckled. "We'll see about that. Desperation can be a powerful motivator, Sophie." With that, he turned and walked away, leaving me feeling shaken and determined. I would never surrender to Julian's twisted desires. Isabella joined me in the waiting room and sat in a chair opposite me. Isabella and I sat in silence for a few moments, both of us lost in our thoughts. Then, suddenly, Isabella's eyes widened as she stared at her phone. "What? I can't believe my eyes!" she exclaimed. I leaned forward, curiosity piqued. "What is it?" Isabella turned her phone to face me, showing me a news article on the screen. "Julian Blackwood," I read aloud, my eyes scanning the article. She had searched for his name online. "He's the sole heir to the Blackwood empire," Isabella said, her voice filled with awe. "And look at all these companies in his name." I scrolled through the list, stunned. Blackwood Enterprises, Blackwood Industries, Blackwood Real Estate... the list went on. "This guy is a billionaire," Isabella whispered. I felt a surge of anger. "And he wants to use his wealth to manipulate me. He thinks he can buy anyone...I will find another way to save Mom." "But Sophie..." "Code blue! Code blue!" The hospital intercom blared. Nurses and doctors rushed past us, urgency etched on their faces. "What's happening?" I demanded, grabbing a nurse's arm. "I don't know yet, but i think a patient's heart stopped." she replied, her voice tight with concern, and headed to the room. I felt like I'd been punched in the gut. "No...no...no...it shouldn't be mom," Isabella wrapped her arms around me, holding me tight. "Let's go to her room." She said, and I nodded. We rushed to my mother's room, our hearts racing with fear. The doctor met us at the door, his face grim. "What's happening?" I demanded. "Your mother's condition has taken a turn for the worse," he said. "She needs immediate surgery to prevent further brain damage." I felt like I'd been punched in the gut. "What!" The doctor's expression was solemn. "If we don't operate within the next two to three hours, she'll likely fall into a coma." I felt tears prick at the corners of my eyes as i watched the doctor leave. I went outside of the room with Isabella, and we both sat in a corner. "What should I do, Isabella?" I asked, the tears flowing freely. "How will I see forty seven million dollars within two hours?" "Sophie, will you reconsider the billionaire's offer?" Isabella asked. I shook my head firmly. "No, I won't reconsider his offer. I'd rather die than sell myself to him." Isabella's expression turned concerned. "Then how and where do you want to see almost fifty million dollars in two hours?" she asked, her voice laced with skepticism. I took a deep breath, thinking frantically. "I don't know... but there must be another way." Isabella's eyes locked onto mine. "Sophie, we're running out of time. Your mom's life is at stake." I felt desperation creeping in. "I know...I know. But I won't give up. There must be someone or something that can help us." Isabella nodded. "Okay...do you have any valuable possessions we can sell?" I shook my head. "No...nothing that would fetch that kind of money." "Then, just do it. It's just for eighteen months and then you are free." Isabella said, her hand on my hand. "You can even annoy him after your mom is well, so he can send you out of his house. And you have nothing to lose. You'll even gain respect as a billonaire's wife. And he's also handsome." I pulled my hand away and stood up. "What about my self-respect, izzy?" "Sometimes we have to make sacrifices for the people we love." She said, her voice barely above a whisper. I looked at Isabella, shocked by her suggestion. "You really think I should consider it?" I asked, my voice laced with desperation. Isabella's expression softened. "I'm just saying it's an option, Sophie. Your mom's life is worth considering it." I took a deep breath, thinking frantically. "I don't know...I don't know if I can do it." "You're strong, Sophie. You can do this." Isabella said in a calm and assuring voice. "I need time to think." I paced around the hospital corridor. Isabella nodded. "You have two hours." As I paced, I couldn't shake off the feeling that I was trapped. Julian's words echoed in my mind: "I always get what I want. And what I want is you." I could really find another way to get the money, but time's running out. Or I could swallow my pride and accept Julian's offer. It's really true, I have nothing to lose. I am single anyway, but what about my mom? What will I tell her when she wakes up? I looked towards her room. "If you are thinking about what to tell your mom, leave that for now. We'll cross that bridge when we get there." Isabella said, as if reading my thoughts. "But I tore the paper and the business card." I said, looking worried. "He will probably get another contract paper, and here..." she handed a business card to me. "I collected this in case you change your mind. Call him now!" "Ok..." I said, as I typed his number on my phone.Behind the billonaire's mask!Chapter 4Julian's POV "Hello, Marcus," I said, on the phone with my secretary. "I need you to draft another contract. Sophie seems hesitant, but I'm confident she'll come around."Marcus's voice was smooth on the other end. "Yes, sir. And what about the terms? Should I make any adjustments?""Yes," I replied. "Add that she is to move into my house immediately. And she needs my permission to leave the house."Marcus's pause was almost imperceptible. "Understood, sir.""But do you really have to do this?" My friend, Caleb, said immediately I ended the call. Caleb had been my best friend for many years. We had both met in the organisation as a fellow assassin, I had quit because of an incident a year ago, but Caleb is still in the business. "Yes." I replied curtly."But she's innocent. It's one woman who hurt you. Why are you taking your revenge on the other innocent woman?" he said in a low and urgent voice. I stood, pacing around the room. "You don't u
Behind the Billonaire's Mask!Chapter 5Julian's POV "Missing?" I repeated, my voice low and even. "What do you mean she's missing?"Marcus swallowed hard. "I...I was watching her, sir. I went to the bathroom, before her mother was moved to the operating room and when i came back, she was gone."My eyes narrowed. "What of her mother and her friend?""I haven't seen anyone with her today, and her mom is in the operating room." Marcus said. I nodded and quickly pulled out my phone to dial her number, but she didn't pick up.I turned and walked into the hospital, scanning the area. Where could she be? What's this girl trying to pull with me? "Find her," I ordered, turning to Marcus."Yes, sir," Marcus replied, walking towards the exit.I sat down outside the operating room.As I scrolled through my phone, I heard sobs. I looked up to see Sophie emerging from the operating room, wearing a pair of green scrubs and a surgical mask hanging around her neck. Her eyes were red-rimmed, and te
Behind the Billonaire's MaskChapter 6Julian's POV"Sophie's mother's health has worsened." Marcus said, on our way to my grandfather's house."What do you mean worsened?" I demanded. "The doctor said she's developed complications from the surgery, and they are not sure when she'll wake up."Get the best medical team on it." I ordered. "Already done, sir." We arrived at my grandfather's estate, and I stepped out of the car, my mind preoccupied. Her mother must not die if I don't want her to cancel the contract. Augustine Blackwood, my grandfather, sat behind his desk, his eyes piercing."Julian, I've received disturbing news," he said. This old man is something! No greetings. "Regarding?" I asked, taking my seat."A potential threat to our family's business empire." He said, rubbing his temple. My interest piqued."Explain."My grandfather leaned forward."One of our major investors is considering withdrawal. We need to persuade them otherwise."I nodded."I'll handle it."My g
Chapter 7Victoria's POVI pushed open the door, a smile spreading across my face as I locked eyes with Julian. Evelyn's voice was a mere backdrop."Victoria, what are you doing here?" Evelyn demanded, again, but I ignored her.My eyes never left Julian's as I strode towards him, confidence oozing from every pore. The woman sitting opposite him – probably, the woman i was told moved in with him - looked up, her eyes looking calm She is unaware of what is coming for her - I am back to get Julian!Reaching Julian, I leaned in, my lips crashing against his in a deep, possessive kiss. Julian's eyes fluttered closed, his body relaxing into mine, but he didn't respond to the kiss. His passivity was unusual, but I didn't let it deter me.As our lips touched, I felt Julian's weakness, his resolve crumbling beneath my kiss. I love the way he melted against my kiss. He hasn't changed. He still can't resist me. I laughed inwardly. But before I could savor the moment, Evelyn's hands grasped my
Behind the Billionaire's mask!Chapter 8Sophie's POV I woke up to a gentle knock on my door, disorienting me for a moment. Julian never knocked; he always barged in. I couldn't even remember falling asleep. The last thing I recalled was video-calling Isabella, followed by an intense gaming session that left my fingers tingling.Shaking off the haze, I got out of bed and opened the door to find Evelyn standing in the hallway, her expression soft yet laced with something I couldn't quite place."Evy," I said, smiling as I stepped aside to let her in.Evelyn's presence was always a welcome surprise. Her visits always brightened my day, like a ray of sunshine breaking through a cloudy sky."Evy, aren't you going out again?" I asked, noticing she was now dressed in her casual attire, a vibrant sundress that highlighted her youthful energy. She settled onto my bed, fidgeting with her fingers, the way she always did when she was nervous. "I'm back already. Julian dropped me off while going
Behind the Billionaire's mask!Chapter 9Sophie's POV"Don't stay long, get anything you want to buy, and come back as soon as possible," Julian said, handing me his debit card with an air of nonchalance. I glanced at the shiny card, feeling a mix of disbelief and excitement. "How much are we to spend?" I asked, unsure of the limits."Spend any amount," Julian replied with a smirk. "It's not like you can spend it all unless you plan to buy the world."I raised an eyebrow."What if you want to use your card?"Julian chuckled. "Do I look like someone with only one debit card? The card belongs to you now. That's the benefit of being my wife."What?! Is this asshole being serious about taking care of me? The thought danced in my mind, both thrilling and terrifying. I know he promised to make me live in luxury, but I would have been just grateful if he had just paid my mom's hospital bills.Anyway, not bad! I mused. Evelyn, who was standing nearby, chimed in, "My brother is a billionaire!
Behind the Billionaire's mask!Chapter 10Sophie's POV "Victoria!"Evelyn's eyes narrowed beside me.Victoria's gaze swept over me, her expression a mix of shock and disdain. "Well, well, well. Look at you," Victoria sneered, eyeing my new hairstyle."Quite the transformation. Julian's wife is looking more like a doll."Evelyn stepped forward, her voice firm."Victoria, back off."Victoria smirked."What do you want, Victoria?" I asked, my voice steady.Victoria's smile twisted into a menacing grin. "We need to talk." She said, beckoning me with a curled finger."What do you want to talk to her about?" Evelyn asked. "Wait...were you stalking us? How do you know we were here?""Do you think I have the time to be stalking you?" Victoria spat. "I'm a busy woman."Evelyn looked at her in disgust."What did you want to talk about?" I asked."Let's go to the cafe over there," Victoria said, nodding toward the cosy coffee shop across the street. "Evelyn, you can wait for us in the car."Ev
Behind the Billionaire's mask!Chapter 11Sophie's POV As I stepped out of the car, a sea of flashing cameras blinded me. The sudden barrage of light and sound made my heart race. I felt a surge of nervousness.I walked side by side with Julian, our heels clicking in sync on the pavement. The bodyguards followed closely behind, their imposing presence a reassuring shield against the chaos. As we entered the venue, the din of voices and camera shutters intensified. I gripped my clutch tightly, my palms growing sweaty. Julian's silence beside me didn't help calm my nerves. We navigated through the crowded room, dodging microphones and outstretched hands. The air thickened with anticipation, every eye fixed on us.I took a deep breath and squared my shoulders. My gaze swept across the room, meeting the expectant faces. We reached the podium, and Julian's secretary handed us a microphone each. Julian's eyes scanned the room, his expression commanding attention."Ladies and gentlemen, wel
Chapter 95 Victoria's POV ******************************************* My eyes felt so heavy as I tried to open them. I attempted to move my hands and legs, but it was futile. What’s wrong? Am I tied up? I can’t seem to remember what led me to this place. As I forced my eyes to look around, every part of me ached. Something was on my nose—oxygen? Then, am I in the hospital? Why? Victoria, calm down and remember what happened to you. What was the last thing that happened? Dammit. I can’t seem to remember anything. I heard the door creaking and quickly closed my eyes. “Any improvement, doctor?” a familiar voice asked. “No, as you can see. I doubt she would survive it; the accident was a tragic one,” the voice that seemed to be the doctor said. Accident? Tragic? What accident? “Doctor, please do anything possible to save her,” the familiar voice trembled. I felt a tingling sensation in my heart. Who owns that voice? Why can’t I remember anything? Why can't i fucking remember anyo
Chapter 94 Julian's POV "Do you recognise me?" I asked Isaac. He looked at me keenly as if trying to recollect and then shook his head. "Well...you'll recognise me soon." I said, gestured to Marcus, who dropped his luggage into the car, and we drove home. Marcus brought out the envelope containing the pictures and handed it to me while I handed it to Isaac. Isaac collected them and kept looking at it. "This is me." he raised up his head to look at me as he pointed at the picture he was in with Sophie. "Yeah, that's you." I said, and he turned back to the pictures. He continued looking at the pictures, but he didn't seem to remember anything. "Let's just go to your house. If you see your families, it might help you regain your memory." I gestured as Marcus led the way outside. The drive to Sophie’s house was steeped in silence, each of us buried in our thoughts. I can't imagine how happy Sophie would be to see her long-lost father. At least, it would bridge the gap between
Chapter 93 Julian's POV It's been fucking hell of a day that Sophie left. Tomorrow was supposed to be our wedding day, but all has been ruined now. She won't even listen to me. She doesn't want to listen to anything I fucking say. And I can't fucking go to her place right now, because firstly, she would have told her mom, secondly, I'm sure they won't even want to listen to me. One is me being an assassin, the other part is me killing her father, which she supposed; which is entirely wrong. But I can't even tell them anything if I don't bring her father back. Dammit! I ran my hand through my hair in frustration. Where the hell is Marcus? I gave him a little assignment, find her father and he's not back yet. Hell everything! I banged my hand on the table. She left with my two adorable babies. She left me alone. It's been a hell of a long time I had been away from her for more than five hours not to talk of a day. A whole day. I hope I'm not gonna lose my mind before Marcus repo
Chapter 92 Julian's POV TWO YEARS AGO "Here, the new target." Xavier, the leader of this damn organization, passed a file across the table with an air of casual indifference. I dropped the half-empty glass of whiskey I had been nursing, the ice clinking against the glass as I picked up the file. My eyes fell on the photo of a man, clearly in his fifties, with graying hair and a weary expression that suggested he had seen too much of life’s darker side. "What is his offence?" I asked. I dropped the file back onto the table, feeling the whiskey burn its way down my throat as I took a deep gulp. "You really should quit asking about people's offenses before they get killed," Xavier snapped, irritation flashing in his eyes. "It's okay if you're not telling me, then," I replied, standing up to leave. "Okay, okay. Sit down and hear me out," he said, and i glared at him and then sat. Xavier was always worried that if he did a job of eliminating people without my knowledge,
Chapter 91 Sophie’s POV "You really need to stop crying, Sophie, and explain what happened. You are getting us worried." Isabella said, her voice filled with concern. It had been an hour since we got home, yet I couldn’t bring myself to tell them the truth—that the man I loved, the man I was supposed to get married to, had killed my own father. My heart ached, and the weight of the revelation felt unbearable. "Yeah, Bella is right. You should tell us what's wrong. Today was supposed to be your bachelorette night, and your wedding is next, but everything is canceled now," my mom added. "Exactly. Julian just came outside and didn't say anything, and now you are not talking either. Do you see him in a compromising position with another woman? Or what exactly could be the matter that has you crying for an hour now? You really need to tell us so we can know what to do," Isabella pressed "Julian..." I stammered, my voice trembling. Sooner or later, they'd known. I guess i should
Chapter 90 Sophie’s POV My phone slipped from my grasp, clattering to the ground as the shock overwhelmed me. 'He was the one that killed your father' The words echoed in my mind as I grasped the iron railing of the staircase for support, my knuckles white. "Soph, are you okay?" The voice pulled me from my haze, reverberating as if from a distance. Suddenly, I felt a hand shook me gently. "Are you okay, Sophie." I looked down to see Evelyn, Isabella, and my mom’s worried gaze staring up at me. Isabella held my phone, which had fallen down. Then i saw him-Julian walking toward us. He killed my father! Julian killed my father! I yanked my phone away from Isabella and race upstairs to the room I shared with Julian. My babies were still sleeping peacefully, and I quickly locked the door behind me, leaving me trapped inside. I sanked my butt into the bed as I looked at my phone, and the message was still glaring at me. It can't be true, can it? Julian would never do such
Chapter 89 Sophie’s POV It’s been one beautiful week since I gave birth to my adorable twins, Jane and Jason. Julian is keeping his promise, announcing our wedding for just two days from now. Tonight is my bachelorette party, and the preparation is in full swing, with excitement buzzing all around. I never imagined I could feel this happy; it all seems like a beautiful dream, one I hope never to wake from. As I glance over at my little ones, peacefully sleeping in their cribs, my heart swells with love. I lean down to plant gentle kisses on each of their cheeks before heading downstairs to join the festivities. “Bride-to-be!” Isabella teases as I enter the living room, making me chuckle. “Where are my babies?” “They’re sleeping upstairs,” I reply, and she nods knowingly. “Have you tried on your outfit for tonight and tomorrow?” Isabella asks. “No, not yet,” I admit, and she gave me a mock scolding look. “Go try it on now!” she insists. “We need you ready for the party!”
Chapter 88 SEVEN MONTHS LATER Sophie’s POV "Julian, I am getting worried day by day. It's ten months already, and I still haven't given birth. I'm supposed give birth at nine months." I said, my voice trembling with anxiety. "But the doctor said it's normal. You don't have to be worried." Julian replied, his tone soothing as he reached for my hand. Everything had been going perfectly well, as Julian had reassured me seven months ago. Victoria still hadn’t woken up, and my pregnancy was becoming a source of relentless worry. It was almost eleven months now; just two weeks shy of that mark. No matter how many times the doctor or my mom insisted that some pregnancies last ten months—especially when it’s a boy—I couldn’t shake the anxiety that gnawed at me. The door opened, and Marcus entered, bowing slightly. "Boss, your meeting starts in five minutes," he announced, glancing at me as he bowed. I had followed Julian to his office every time he had work to do, eager to stay clo
