She's mine now

Behind the billonaire's mask!

Chapter 4

Julian's POV

"Hello, Marcus," I said, on the phone with my secretary. "I need you to draft another contract. Sophie seems hesitant, but I'm confident she'll come around."

Marcus's voice was smooth on the other end. "Yes, sir. And what about the terms? Should I make any adjustments?"

"Yes," I replied. "Add that she is to move into my house immediately. And she needs my permission to leave the house."

Marcus's pause was almost imperceptible. "Understood, sir."

"But do you really have to do this?" My friend, Caleb, said immediately I ended the call. Caleb had been my best friend for many years. We had both met in the organisation as a fellow assassin, I had quit because of an incident a year ago, but Caleb is still in the business.

"Yes." I replied curtly.

"But she's innocent. It's one woman who hurt you. Why are you taking your revenge on the other innocent woman?" he said in a low and urgent voice.

I stood, pacing around the room. "You don't understand, Caleb. This is business. Sophie needs my help, and I need... distraction."

"Distraction from what?" Caleb pressed, his gaze piercing. "Julian, you can't keep punishing yourself for what happened with Victoria. You can't control everyone around you to make up for one mistake."

I spun around, my eyes blazing. "You don't know how I felt then and now Caleb. You didn't see..."

Caleb stepped forward, his voice calm. "I know you, Julian. I know you're still haunted by Victoria's betrayal. But Sophie isn't Victoria. She's an innocent woman who deserves better than to be used as a pawn in your twisted game."

My laughter was cold and mirthless. "Twisted game? You're one to talk, Caleb. You're still in the organization, still taking orders, still killing without question. You got injured because of it last week."

Caleb had gone out a week ago to get rid of his target, but unknown to him, the target was with someone harmed, and he had gotten shot, which led to me going to the hospital to check on him, and I had gone to the hospital to get him discharged yesterday, when Sophie had come to the doctor's office. I suddenly became interested in her case, which led me inquiring about her from the doctor.

Caleb's face darkened. "That's different, Julian. I have reasons for what I do. But this...this is personal. You're using Sophie to soothe your own demons."

I turned away, my mind racing. Caleb's words struck a chord, but I refused to acknowledge it. I am going to do what I plan to do, I will make sure I have control over every woman on earth. I could have just helped her and looked away, but i don't want to. I have always got what I wanted, and I'm sure I will get her too. She has no choice anyway.

I was about to reply to Julian when my phone rang, revealing an unknown number.

I answered, my tone brusque. "Yes?"

"Julian Blackwood?" A soft, melodious voice spoke on the other end.

I tensed, recognizing the voice. "Sophie?"

"Hi," she said hesitantly.

"I knew you'd come to your senses." I said, smiling widely.

There was a pause on the other end, and for a moment, I wondered if I'd misjudged her.

But then her voice came through, hesitant but determined.

"I'll do it," she said.

I smiled, triumphant.

"Excellent," I replied. "I'll send Marcus with the contract. We'll finalize the details."

I could almost hear her reluctance, but I didn't care.

She was mine now.

"I...I...mean, can you make it faster, my mom's in a critical condition, and the doctor said she only has two hours." She said, her voice shaking.

"Ok...Marcus will bring the contract, now. And I will call the doctor after you sign it."

"Ok..." she said.

"And I will come to pick you in the evening, myself." I interrupted.

"What! Thought it was after my mom had gotten well." She protested.

"I changed my mind...You played hard to get, or have you forgotten you swearing that it's only over your dead body, you will accept my offer." I smiled to myself, anticipating her resistance.

"But...am I allowed to go see her?" She asked, her voice low and calm.

I chuckled, a low, menacing sound. "Only when I allow you."

"Ok..." I heard from the other end. I was shocked she didn't protest further.

I hung up, ending the conversation.

Caleb shook his head, "Victoria's betrayal really turned you to something else."

I hate to accept it, but Caleb was right, I had changed a lot since Victoria left me, four years ago, you might be thinking four years and I'm still thinking about her, that's how much i loved Victoria.

The memory of that fateful night still seared my mind. Victoria's betrayal had left me shattered, my ego bruised. I had thought I'd given her everything, but it wasn't enough. She'd chosen another man over me, a man beneath me in every way.

And she didn't just leave me - she killed our child, our innocent baby. I had retired to drinking then, before I started killing people thinking it would make me forget, but no! I am still hurt! I even went ahead to join a killing organisation.

Caleb's words cut through my thoughts. "Julian, you can't keep punishing yourself. It's been four years already. I'm sure she doesn't even remember you existed."

I turned to him, my eyes cold. "You think I'm using Sophie as a substitute? Perhaps. But it's more than that. I want control, Caleb. Control over my life, over women like Victoria who think they can walk all over me."

Caleb's eyes narrowed. "But it's Victoria you want control over, not other women,"

I shrugged, my mind already made up. "It's still the same. They are both the same gender."

"Do as you please, I hope you will just end up falling for her." He said, laughing.

Fall for Sophie? Ridiculous! I was in control, always.

"WHAT! That can never happen! This is not a movie." I said. How can Caleb think I will fall for a girl like her.

Just then, my phone buzzed. Marcus's voice was efficient on the other end. "Sir, the contract is ready. Shall I take it to the hospital?"

I nodded, though he couldn't see me. "Yes, Marcus. Take it to the hospital and ensure Sophie signs it. Call me as soon as it's done."

"Understood, sir," Marcus replied.

I ended the call and turned to Caleb. "It's done. Sophie will sign the contract, and I'll get what I want."

Caleb's expression remained disapproving, but he smiled. "Ok...Controller."

Twenty minutes passed before Marcus called again.

"Sir, Sophie has signed the contract," he reported.

I smiled, triumphant. "Excellent. Keep an eye on her, so she doesn't make any foolish decisions."

"And Sophie, sir?" Marcus asked.

"Pay the money to the doctor and tell her I'll be there to pick her up at 7 PM sharp. She's to be ready."

Marcus hesitated. "Sir, she seems... uneasy."

I chuckled. "That's to be expected. And tell her she mustn't let anyone know about the contract, except her friend who already does, and she must warn her friend not to tell anyone."

"Ok...sir." Marcus replied.

As I hung up, I turned to Caleb, "I need to go home, now."

Caleb nodded, and I left his place.

Upon arriving home, I instructed my staff to prepare the east wing for Sophie's arrival. My butler, Jenkins, raised an eyebrow but didn't say anything.

The clock struck 6:30pm, I stood up, to adjust my tie. Time to collect my possessions.

As i drove to the hospital, Caleb's words echoed in my mind: "Victoria's betrayal really turned you into something else."

But I knew the truth: I was always this person, waiting to be unleashed.

At 7PM sharp, I arrived at the hospital. Marcus stood outside.

"Why are you outside? I told you to keep an eye on Sophie." I said, trying not to sound too harsh.

"Sir...ehm." Marcus stuttered. Maybe I had sound too harsh.

"Why are you stammering? let's go inside." I said, and made my way to walk into the hospital but was stopped by what Marcus said.

"Sophie is missing!"
