Behind the Billionaire's mask!

Chapter 14

Sophie's POV

"What are you doing?" Evelyn asked as she joined me in the kitchen.

"I'm trying to make dinner." I stated while stirring the simmering sauce on the stove top.

"For my brother?" Evelyn asked.

"No!" I said, more like shouting.

"Oh! So what are you making?" Evelyn asked.

"Spaghetti Bolognese," I replied, trying to sound nonchalant.

Evelyn's eyes widened. "But that's my brother's favourite food."

"Really? I didn't know," I lied, attempting to play dumb.

I had asked Rose, the cook about Julian's favourite food.

"Oh!" she said, not believing me.

"But why is Rose not cooking?" Evelyn asked, looking up at Rose, who was standing beside me.

Rose smiled warmly. "Mrs. Sophie volunteered to cook today."

"Yes, Evy. I have just been doing nothing in the house, so I decided to cook," I explained.

Evelyn leaned toward me and whispered, "You're trying to win my brother over, right?"

I didn't say anything and just blushed.

I finished cooking, and

The memory of last night came back to me - her lips had drawn me in, and I found myself staring at them, mesmerized. I blinked in shock when I felt my hand reach out and graze her lips. I stared at my hand, wondering when I had done that. I wanted to wake her and tell her to get the fuck off my bed, but something held me back. Instead, I quietly slipped out from under the sheets, put on my clothes, and made my way downstairs, my mind racing. What had I done? How could I have let myself get so close to her? I prided myself on maintaining strict boundaries, just having sex, no deep or passionate moments. So why was I so...unsettled by this woman's presence in my bed? I ran a hand through my hair in frustration. I needed to get a grip to regain control of the situation. Quickly, I walked to the kitchen and poured myself a strong cup of black coffee, hoping the caffeine would hel

Behind the Billionaire's Mask!Chapter 16Victoria's POV"So, he's the bastard that cheated on his girlfriend with an older woman," I said, staring at the pictures Jaxon handed me. The image of Alex, Sophie's boyfriend, smirking beside a woman who looked at least a decade older, burned into my mind."Yes," Jaxon replied."The ex-boyfriend is a fool. He didn’t realize he was pushing his girlfriend right into the arms of a billionaire," I mused, my thoughts swirling with malicious delight. "What if he found out that his ex-girlfriend got married to someone like Julian?"I turned to face him, the corners of my lips curling into a sly smile. "Oh, it would bother him. Especially when he sees those pictures."I moved to the pictures on the table, a picture of Sophie and Julian, I had asked someone to stalk them to report all their moves to me, and he had taken pictures. I’m not ready to lose Julian, not to that poor rat of a woman. If I have to play dirty to keep him, then so be it.I had

Behind the Billionaire's Mask! Chapter 17 Sophie's POV As we walked into the restaurant, a wave of warmth enveloped me. The soft glow of golden chandeliers hung from the high ceiling, casting a romantic shimmer over the elegantly set tables. Each table was draped in crisp white linen. The air was filled with the rich aroma of gourmet dishes being prepared in the open kitchen. I could hear the gentle clinking of fine china and the soft murmur of conversations mingling with the soothing notes of a live pianist in the corner. The atmosphere was intimate yet vibrant, a perfect blend of sophistication and comfort. As we made our way to our table, I noticed the plush velvet chairs that invited guests to linger a little longer, enjoying the culinary masterpieces that awaited them. The walls were lined with tasteful artwork, each piece telling a story of its own. I felt a mixture of excitement and nervousness—this was a world I had glimpsed but never fully entered. As I settled in

She leaned back in her chair, her coffee cup hovering just above the table, as if she were afraid to set it down. "Yeah, he gave me his card and even assigned a car and a driver to me," I replied, a laugh escaping my lips. The absurdity of the situation still tickled me. Julian had been surprisingly accommodating since Evelyn had left a week ago, almost as if he didn’t want me to feel lonely in the mansion filled with memories and echoes of a life I hadn’t yet fully embraced. He told me I could go anywhere I wanted, but I must be back before nightfall. He has been going to work more frequently these days and only stay at home on weekends. "Wow, my friend is really a billionaire's wife now," Isabella teased, her eyes sparkling with mischief. There was something about the way she said it that made me feel

"But why the fuck is Sophie delaying me?" I muttered, glancing up at the stairs. As if summoned by my frustration, she began descending the staircase. But why the fuck is she so beautiful? Her hair was elegantly pinned up, with a few rebellious strands curling delicately at the side of her face. She wore a deep emerald dress that hugged her figure perfectly, accentuating her curves while still maintaining an air of sophistication. The fabric shimmered in the light, drawing my eyes to her every movement. "Julian," she said softly, a teasing smile playing on her lips. "Are you ready to go? You know Caleb won’t wait forever." I swallowed hard, trying to shake off the effect she had on me. "Yeah, just—give me a minute." I needed to gather my thoughts. She stepped closer, her gaze searching mine. "You okay? You

Behind the Billionaire's Mask! Chapter 20 Victoria's POV "What are you doing here?" Caleb appeared suddenly in front of me, causing me to halt just in time to avoid a collision. The tension in the air was palpable, thick enough to cut with a knife. "And why do you care?" I shot back, my eyes narrowing into a death glare. Every part of me wanted to push past him, but he stood there, a wall I couldn't breach. "It's my wedding, so I should know why you are here," he replied, annoyance coating his words like a bitter aftertaste. I gritted my teeth, irritation bubbling beneath the surface. All I wanted was to catch a glimpse of Julian. Ever since I had arrived, my focus had been solely on him. When I saw him slip into the restroom, I seized the moment to nudge a guy toward Sophie, noting how his eyes lingered on her. I had expertly hidden myself away, determined not to draw attention. But then I saw Julian, the way he pulled Sophie out of the venue. Just when I thought I co

Chapter 21 PAST Victoria's POV "You are married to me. Why do you keep putting a watch on Julian?" Ethan burst out. "What do you mean? I never did," I replied defensively. "Then what's this?" He thrust a picture of Julian into my hands. I hadn’t seen this before. The person I had asked to keep an eye on Julian must have sent it, but why was he so careless? Couldn't he have made sure it reached me personally? "I... just...was..." I stuttered, grasping for words. "See? You don't know what to say. Let's get a divorce." He handed me the divorce papers, his expression cold and unyielding. I felt my heart drop. I can't lose Ethan; I love him. But I don’t want to lose Julian either. He’s mine, even if I don’t love him the way I love Ethan. "Ethan, when did you start planning this?" I asked, trying to regain some composure and look him in the eye. "You don’t need to know. It was as if a switch had flipped, and now, she occupied every corner of my thoughts. I tried to focus on the work in front of me—reports, deadlines, the endless stream of emails—but my concentration shattered like glass. Every time I glanced up from my screen, I found myself thinking of her. The way she laughed, the way her eyes sparkled when she was excited. It was maddening. "She loves someone!" I kept reminding myself. But who could this person be? The driver had only said she either went to Isabella's or the hospital. And only once in a while did she go salon and other fashion places. Or did she tell the driver to keep it from me? Just as I was about to lose myself in another spiral of thoughts, my phone buzzed, jolting me from my reverie. I glanced at the screen; it was Caleb.

Victoria, calm down and remember what happened to you. What was the last thing that happened? Dammit. I can’t seem to remember anything. I heard the door creaking and quickly closed my eyes. “Any improvement, doctor?” a familiar voice asked. “No, as you can see. I doubt she would survive it; the accident was a tragic one,” the voice that seemed to be the doctor said. Accident? Tragic? What accident? “Doctor, please do anything possible to save her,” the familiar voice trembled. I felt a tingling sensation in my heart. Who owns that voice? Why can’t I remember anything? I said, gestured to Marcus, who dropped his luggage into the car, and we drove home. Marcus brought out the envelope containing the pictures and handed it to me while I handed it to Isaac. Isaac collected them and kept looking at it. "This is me." he raised up his head to look at me as he pointed at the picture he was in with Sophie. "Yeah, that's you." I said, and he turned back to the pictures. He continued looking at the pictures, but he didn't seem to remember anything. "Let's just go to your house. If you see your families, it might help you regain your memory." I gestured as Marcus led the way outside. The drive to Sophie’s house was steeped in silence, each of us buried in our thoughts. She doesn't want to listen to anything I fucking say. And I can't fucking go to her place right now, because firstly, she would have told her mom, secondly, I'm sure they won't even want to listen to me. Chapter 92 Julian's POV TWO YEARS AGO "Here, the new target." Xavier, the leader of this damn organization, passed a file across the table with an air of casual indifference. I dropped the half-empty glass of whiskey I had been nursing, the ice clinking against the glass as I picked up the file. My eyes fell on the photo of a man, clearly in his fifties, with graying hair and a weary expression that suggested he had seen too much of life’s darker side. "What is his offence?" I asked. I dropped the file back onto the table, feeling the whiskey burn its way down my throat as I took a deep gulp. "You really should quit asking about people's offenses before they get killed," Xavier snapped, irritation flashing in his eyes. "It's okay if you're not telling me, then," I replied, standing up to leave. "Okay, okay. Sit down and hear me out," he said, and i glared at him and then sat. Xavier was always worried that if he did a job of eliminating people without my knowledge,

Chapter 91 Sophie’s POV "You really need to stop crying, Sophie, and explain what happened. You are getting us worried." Isabella said, her voice filled with concern. It had been an hour since we got home, yet I couldn’t bring myself to tell them the truth—that the man I loved, the man I was supposed to get married to, had killed my own father. My heart ached, and the weight of the revelation felt unbearable. "Yeah, Bella is right. You should tell us what's wrong. Today was supposed to be your bachelorette night, and your wedding is next, but everything is canceled now," my mom added. "Exactly. Julian just came outside and didn't say anything, and now you are not talking either. Do you see him in a compromising position with another woman? Or what exactly could be the matter that has you crying for an hour now? You really need to tell us so we can know what to do," Isabella pressed "Julian..." I stammered, my voice trembling. Sooner or later, they'd known. I guess i should

Chapter 90 Sophie’s POV My phone slipped from my grasp, clattering to the ground as the shock overwhelmed me. 'He was the one that killed your father' The words echoed in my mind as I grasped the iron railing of the staircase for support, my knuckles white. "Soph, are you okay?" The voice pulled me from my haze, reverberating as if from a distance. Suddenly, I felt a hand shook me gently. "Are you okay, Sophie." I looked down to see Evelyn, Isabella, and my mom’s worried gaze staring up at me. Isabella held my phone, which had fallen down. Then i saw him-Julian walking toward us. He killed my father! Julian killed my father! I yanked my phone away from Isabella and race upstairs to the room I shared with Julian. My babies were still sleeping peacefully, and I quickly locked the door behind me, leaving me trapped inside. I sanked my butt into the bed as I looked at my phone, and the message was still glaring at me. It can't be true, can it? Julian would never do such

Chapter 89 Sophie’s POV It’s been one beautiful week since I gave birth to my adorable twins, Jane and Jason. Julian is keeping his promise, announcing our wedding for just two days from now. Tonight is my bachelorette party, and the preparation is in full swing, with excitement buzzing all around. I never imagined I could feel this happy; it all seems like a beautiful dream, one I hope never to wake from. As I glance over at my little ones, peacefully sleeping in their cribs, my heart swells with love. I lean down to plant gentle kisses on each of their cheeks before heading downstairs to join the festivities. “Bride-to-be!” Isabella teases as I enter the living room, making me chuckle. “Where are my babies?” “They’re sleeping upstairs,” I reply, and she nods knowingly. “Have you tried on your outfit for tonight and tomorrow?” Isabella asks. “No, not yet,” I admit, and she gave me a mock scolding look. “Go try it on now!” she insists. “We need you ready for the party!”
