Meghan
“I have news for you” Juliet’s voice sounded really breathy when Meg picked up the phone the next day.
“And it couldn’t wait till a reasonable time? Like maybe when humans had gotten up?” Meg said to her.
“Well, I thought you would appreciate me telling you now than later” her friend replied impatiently.
“What could be so important that it couldn’t wait?”
“I am going on an impromptu trip with this guy I met two months ago. I’m actually leaving in two hours and thought it would be appropriate to, you know, inform my friend”
“Why would you be going on a trip with someone you just met? What about your job?” Meg inquired. Her friend was the kind to be spontaneous, alright, but she had just come out from a nasty breakup and Meg would have thought that the last thing on her mind would be hooking up with somebody. Though if it was just a fling, that would be understandable.
“This is just for fun, right? It’s not as if we’ll have to pick up the pieces of your broken heart again? Remember what happened the last time?”
Juliet sighed at the other end of the phone. “I think I’m in love, Meg. I know I swore I wouldn’t fall in love again but this time, I think it’s real”
“Your heart is as fragile as anything, Juliet. You fall in and out of love so easily it’s alarming. I think all you need is company and I’m sorry I am not there to keep you occupied” Meg said
“I know I get involved way too fast and all but this feeling, it’s different. He makes me feel secure and good and all the nice things. He actually asked me to go on this trip two weeks after we met but I refused. I have had a lot of time to think about it and so far all I feel is a sure sign that I should go ahead and take the jump”
Meg had heard her friend try to convince her so many times that each guy she took a liking to was love. She had learnt how to dissuade her friend from potential heartbreaks. But hearing Juliet talk about this guy, even in few words, she had no negative comeback. Although the words were vaguely familiar and had a sense of déjà vu, this time around it had so much conviction.
“If you really feel this way, then maybe you should do it. Go on this trip and see if what you feel is really true”
“Do you really mean that? I thought you would talk me out of it and maybe call me a flighty female” her friend replied, sounding relieved.
“Well, I do want to call you a flighty female but I think you should go. I’ll need, whosoever he is, his name and every other detail about his entire existence. I need to know that you will be safe at all times”
“I will send everything to you. “
Meg smiled. “Where are you off to then? And what about work?
“I don’t know where we’re going to, only it’s somewhere sunny and beautiful. And I believe my clients can survive without me for a week.” Juliet replied
“Okay. Have fun and do take care” Meg said
“Try and have some fun too. I want to hear some very interesting stories when I come back”
“Jules! Despite what you think, I am not going to sleep with him!” Meg reprimanded her friend
“We’ll see, won’t we? I gotta go now. Bye “
Meg turned and tossed and tried to go back to sleep after she had ended the call with Juliet. In some ways, she envied her friend. Her friend had been with some of the nicest guys she had met, however brief. The ones that turned out to be bad was because they, Juliet and the person she loved, had discovered that they didn’t love each other at all but had a case of severe lust and attraction. Thus, they had irreconcilable differences that could not keep them together.
Meg could count on her fingers the amount of people she had been interested in that felt the same way back. It was as though she wasn’t even good enough for a fling. So many ways in which she felt inferior to her friend.
That was why she would work and not make passes at her boss. There was no need to add another number to the tally of failed conquests.
After more and more deliberations, she fell asleep.
She woke up in the afternoon and promptly went to fix herself something to eat in the kitchen after she had taken a really long bath.
When she was done, she decided to take a walk around the manor and its surroundings. Maybe she could get some sort of inspiration before she continued writing. She wore a loose cotton trouser and a flannel top.
Walking outside the house, she inhaled deeply and deliberated on where to start her exploration. She saw the path she had earlier viewed that led to a garden at the back of the manor and decided to start from there.
She walked through a gate and her breath caught when she got to the garden. There were, among other flowers, tons of lilies blooming. Lily Catherine, she immediately reckoned. It was as though parts of the house still belonged in the time of Catherine and her mysterious lover.
At one end of the garden was a little house made of stones. Walking into the house, she saw more lilies planted there. There was also a long wooden chair that sat at one end of the little house.
Meg could imagine that Catherine and her lover may have met here at night to say all the things to each other they couldn’t have said in their letters. Why, this was the perfect place with all the lilies that Catherine must have smelt like.
Sitting on the chair, Meg soon got lost in her imagination.
When she finally came out of what she had named, the lily haven, Meg noticed that a couple of hours had passed.
Oh, well. At least I got some thinking done, she thought to herself as she walked back into the manor.
Grabbing a couple of bread slices and the jar of peanut butter she found, she walked to the library to get on with the letters.
Settling down on the sofa, she opened the box and picked the next letter.
Lily Catherine,
Of the flowers that blooms.
I should hope that today our eyes meet in passing and you glimpse the overwhelming affection I feel towards you.
I fear that if you do not see it, my heart shall grow faint and weary.
I have news. Today, word came from the village that my father had taken ill and requested my presence. It was a friend who brought the sad news.
Did I tell you of the many ailments that plague my father? Of how he had almost taken his last breath a year ago? I fear that this time around he might not survive and the thought frightens me a great deal.
Alas, that is not all the ill I write of. For, if I go to my father, I do not know if I will return here to you. My heart shudders to think that I will be gone from you, my sweet Lily.
For this I am perplexed. Should I cast the care of my father upon my younger brother and stay here with you my love or shall I go and lose thee? I fear if I go, your heart might belong to another in my absence.
I shall write no more but implore that you meet me in the place where the sun meets our love at nightfall. Take care and beware of your brooding father.
From, me.
Did Catherine’s lover go to meet his father? Did she meet him at nightfall? Meg thought as she folded the letter back and kept it in the box. There were so many questions she had at this point.
Her thoughts flickered towards Jack. He had certainly taken the character of Catherine’s father, the brooding and ever serious one.
Where was he now? She thought. Was he in his office scowling over documents and files? Or was he somewhere having fun? He didn’t deem like the kind of guy to have fun though. She could bet all he thought about and did was work.
It didn’t matter to her anyways. She had stuff to do.
She brought out her laptop and began to make notes on the letter she had just read. No doubt the letters were in a disorganized manner because she had read three which had no correlations to one another except the fact that they were written from Catherine’s lover to her.
It was also odd that she hadn’t seen any letter that Catherine wrote in reply. Had she preferred talking to penning down her thoughts?
Maybe she had been scared that her father would see them. If she had no return letters to implicate her and her father somehow got a hold of the letters she received, she could claim they were from a secret admirer who told grand lies.
After a while, she decided to read one last letter before she went to bed. Curious to know what might have happened, she picked up the next letter and began to read aloud to herself.
My sweet lily,
How beautiful you are. Brighter than the sun and sweeter than nature’s fruits. If I had known you today would have been, I would have prepared the grandest bed with the best lilies all for you.
Meg stopped reading when she felt a penetrating gaze on her. Looking up, she saw Jack standing at the door way. She opened her mouth to speak but nothing came out.
He was wearing a shirt that fitted snugly across his chest with lose flannel pajamas. His hair looked ruffled and his eyes had a stormy, intense look. Standing at the door, he looked…formidable. Meg felt as though he had swallowed the air from the library and all of a sudden she couldn’t breathe.
How did he manage to affect her so much with just a look?
“Hi” she finally croaked.
“Hi” he replied.
“I thought you’d be busy or something” she said.
‘I was, but I wanted to check on you. I’m sorry I interrupted your reading, please go on” he said.
Meg shook her head. “’Oh, it’s nothing. I’m done actually. I think I’ll retire for the night”
Jack came into the study and sat beside her on the sofa. When he sat beside her, Meg felt every rational thought in her head fly away. She glanced towards the wall in an effort not to look at him.
“I admit I am intrigued by the letter you were reading before I interrupted. Please continue” Jack told her in a calm voice.
“Okay” Meg said in a tiny voice and picked up the letter to continue
Oh, how I recall with longing and fondness my love, of how ethereal you looked when you came to me last night. The moon seemed to pale in comparison to how you glowed.
Today I remembered how your eyes had looked upon me with love. I recall how your lips had met mine and how your tongue tasted like honey drops and dew. Oh, how I long to taste the heaven that lies in your lips once more.
Do you remember, my love, how I worshipped your skin in undulated adoration? When your robes had fallen to the ground and your night dress discarded, I could have sworn in that moment that time stopped.
Oh how your breasts felt in my palms like treasures. Your pointed peaks had tasted like honey combs in my mouth as I ran my tongue over them again and again.
The thought of how they felt kept me awake, hard and raging.
Meg looked up from the letter when she heard a low groan from Jake. Had he felt what she felt in the letter? Was he as affected as she was right now? Taking a risk and looking at him, she saw that he had felt what she felt.
His eyes had darkened with what could only be desire and he was staring at her as though he wanted to eat her at that moment, there and there.
“I think I’m done” she whispered, unsure of her voice.
“But the letter isn’t done.” He said
“I could continue tomorrow, it wouldn’t put a damper in the book” Meg protested. She wasn’t sure that she could stand reading the rest of the letter in front of him. If it ended the way she thought, she could not predict that she or Jack would go to bed that night without anything happening.
But she wanted him right?
“Please continue. As soon as you are done, I’ll take my leave”
Meg nodded and continue.
If there was a place I could wish to stay forever, sweet lily, I would desire the bliss between your legs buried in your wet heat engulfing me. How sweet bliss is found between your creamy thighs, my love.
I recalled this morning when the cold hit the place where the sun does not shine on me, how your moans sounded like the most amazing song as I buried myself over and over again in you.
Meg felt a need so intense course through her body as desire pooled low in her stomach. God, she ached for some sort of release. Would Jack her or would he pretend not the sexual energy radiating from them? It was as though she could smell her own arousal in the air.
When jack did not say a word, Meg felt disappointment wash over her. Maybe he did not want her after all. It would be best for her to leave now.
“Why did you stop?” Jack asked her, his voice coming out in a husky growl.
“I feel so tired, I think I’ll go to sleep now” Meg replied and stood up to go when Jack held her hand and pulled her on his laps.
“What, what are you doing?” she asked, spluttering.
Jack looked at her with a scorching look that made her clench her thighs in anticipation.
“I think we both know what and why.” He said and looked down at her chest where her nipples had hardened into pointed pebbles and were straining across her shirt.
Then he looked at her in the eyes.
“I am going to kiss you now” he said as he mouth descended on hers.
MeghanMeg felt heady as his tongue teased the seam of her lips, his warm breath fanning her face. She let out a moan as his teeth caught her bottom lip as he gently tugged on it and nibbled.“You don’t know how long I’ve wanted to do this” he said in between nibbles. When her mouth finally opened for him, he kissed her as though he had been starved, his tongue fucking her mouth and Meg had to hold on to his head for balance. Her tongue met his with a matched fervency. Nothing was tempered, he ravaged her and kissed her as though he was taking his last breath. He finally broke the kiss as his mouth settled firmly over her nipple through the sheer material of her shirt and Meg gasped. He deftly undid the buttons of the shirt she wore and raised his head up so he could lift it over her head. Then his head descended again on her nipple
Meghan"Hey, you're on time" she said to Jake when he knocked on the door at exactly 7pm."I try to be. I also wanna make a good impression on your first night out" Jake replied"Chivalry isn't dead, I suppose" Meg told him as she stepped out of her room."Let's just say, I was brought up to be a gentleman and may I say that you look absolutely lovely?" Meg was wearing a dark blue tailored jumpsuit with blue studs and a simple neckchain. She had opted to put her hair into a bun. No use trying to style it when she had no idea how."You should thank Juliet for that then. She literarily dragged me shopping, bought clothes she thought were casual but classy and shoved them into my box before I came. I, on the other hand, have no fashion sense. I am absolutely terrible" Meg told him."She did a splendid job then. But again, I'm sure
Meg opened the door of the Manor and stuck her hand outside. The raindrops fell on her palm as she stared into the horizon. It had been raining for a few hours and she had hoped it would slow down to a drizzle so she could take a walk. And it had reduced to a drizzle already. She needed to clear her head and do some serious thinking. The Catherine story had gotten a little complicated than she expected and her thoughts were jumbled. The week had gone by and she had spent most of her time reading and writing, trying to interpret and piece the story together in an orderly fashion. She had seen Jake twice during the week when he came to hang out with her for an hour or two, but no mention of the other night was made.It had given her some serious thought.Had Jake been flirting with her the night at the club or was he truly interested in her but waiting until she made the first move?Or was
JackJack ended his call and slammed the phone down with a loud bang. How the hell did his father think he could pull a stunt like this on him?If he thought for one minute, just one moment, that Jack was going to bend to his wishes like a puppet then he was sadly mistaken. He would not be blackmailed into giving a public statement or attending a meeting. He had done so well staying afar for years. It did not matter if the public included just twelve board members. He would not do it.His father could shove his subtly delievered threat up his ass.If his father decided that his good for nothing cousin would get the company after his retirement, then so be it. Jack Grayson would not be blackmailed. What had possessed his father to want to retire suddenly? He had always told his children that only death could make him retire and that Jack would become CEO when he was neatly tucked beneath
Jack.Jack scrubbed his face in frustration for the umpteenth time.He could not get any work done an it was a big bother.Well, how can you when you choose to ignore what is in front of you?his mind seem to say.He stood up and paced around the confines of his study like a prowling tiger with no destination. How the hell was he going to ignore the thoughts that kept bothering him?It was all her damn fault, all her fault. If she hadn't, maybe...The image of her standing in front of his study the previous mind flashed through his mind and he swore.Fuck! Fuck! How could she have scrambled any rational thoughts he had? With her flimsy nightdress embracing, hugging and showing off every single curve of her body and those pert nipples straining at the fabric, how was a man supposed to think for goodness sake? And when he had
JackJack stood in a beige coloured room, his legs in soft gray rug as he stared out the window. He gazed at the garden with so much interest. His gaze was trained on the female that stood in the drizzle, her hands spread out and her eyes towards the horizon.Damn, was she beautiful. When she turned to look at the window, Jack smiled although she couldn't see him.In that particular room, the walls were done in such a way that anyone in the room could see this outside but those outside could not see inside. He took another brief look at the room and sighed. What he wouldn't give to go outside, take her by the hand and lead her in here. This room was his playroom, designed by him alone. It was where he could be free to explore, to take and give to whomever was willing to submit. It was a big shame that no one had gotten a chance to come in here except fro
"I know I did not give you a reply as to what you asked..." Meg started. She and Jake had driven up to the beach and had sat to eat at a small place there."Yeah" Jake answered."But I'll admit, I'm very curious. I think I want to understand"Jake studied her" Are you sure you're not just telling me what I want to hear? I mean, you don't have to if you don't want to. It's okay"Meg quickly shook her head." I'm not doing this because I want to please you. I've had sometime to think and I really want to know what it's all about"Relief spread through Jake's face." You know, I was hoping you'd say yes. It's kinda like a big deal for me that you did""It sounds like a business deal the way we're talking about it. It's just sexual""No, Amor. It's way more than that. You'll understand" Jake said softly.
"I came to give you a draft of the book, sir," Meg said as she walked into his study, her tone professional and cool.Jack grated his teeth. Why was she being proper?"How far have you gone?""Halfway through sir, made a lot of headway. I can say with full assurance that I'll be done in a months' time. You see, the letters weren't in order and there was some sort of code in the letters. That's why it took longer to sort it out," Meg explained."Good. Do you have any complaints? Any area I can help you in? Any stuff I can deal with?," Jack asked." I'm good. Thank you, sir"Jack wanted to march up to her and shake her till her bones rattled.Had she suddenly woken up as a machine? Why the proper, formal form of address?"Are you free for coffee, tonight? I know a..."" Frankly sir, I'll be hard at work throug
Should there be a spin-off? I’m curious to see if you guys want more. It’ll have to be the main characters acting as side characters, and the main story will be about Megan’s friend. She’ll fall in love with one of Jack’s old friend that she met at the wedding- love at first sight. But, he’ll not be in love with her. I’m curious, because it’s an idea I have been working out in my head for months. If you say you want it- I’ll give it to you. Also, I’m a better writer now, so there’s that.
"You sure about this, sugar? We can always have a private session at home. The playroom is big enough", Jack asked Meghan as they walked into the club. She reached up and kissed him."I'm okay, Jack. This is your world and I want to make it mine too. Besides, I don't want to take you away from your friends"Jack looked at her, love shining in his eyes.To him, Meghan was the only person in the club."Hey, man. Congratulations", Caleb slapped him on the back." Yeah, congrats on getting engaged. Seems like we have two open spots now", Luke said" Don't you fucking dare", Caleb and Jack growled."Chill out. I was only kidding. Do your partners know that they are keeping tigers at home? "Meghan patted Jack's chest." Of course I do. I just make sure I give him his meal on time", she said and winked at Luke." Ouu. Lucky guy""Congratulations, Meghan", Jake came forward."Jake", Meghan practically jumped on him."Where the hell have you been?""Here. Was waiting till you get back before I
"God, you're goddamn beautiful. You are like an angel, a fairy, a goddess", Meghan gushed as Juliet stood in front of the mirror, her eyes misting over."I'm not gonna cry. I'm not gonna cry. It's my big day and I'm supposed to be happy", Juliet repeated those words like a mantra." You can cry all you want, love. They are happy tears and besides, your mascara is waterproof", Meghan told her." What about the rest of the makeup? Leo's mom brought her own makeup artist all the way here to do it", Juliet asked, worried." Alright, fine. You have a point. Don't cry. Let me do all the crying, okay?"" Do you know how much tears I want to cry? "" A thousand bucket full?"" Maybe two", Juliet wiped her eyes with a tissue before her tears could trickle down her face."Leo is going to be dumbstruck when he sees you. You make me want to be a bride
"You look absolutely stunning, Juliet. No one's gonna bite you or anything, calm down", Meghan tried to reassure her friend for the umpteenth time that evening. They were about to go for the rehearsal dinner and Juliet's nerves had been all over the place."I know, I know. I just can't help thinking I'm going to screw this up somehow", Juliet answered her." You're not going to screw up, Jules. You have planned this all down to the letter. You'll be okay, I'm sure. We don't want you looking all stressed now, do we?"" No, we don't. I'll be fine in a moment", Juliet said, smoothing invisible wrinkles on her gown. She was wearing a pale blue gown that seemed to shimmer in the evening sky.Teardrop midnight blue earrings shine from her ears and her hair fell down in tinted cascade of waves. She had finished the look off with a plain gold necklace and black heels.Me
"Earth to Jack, Jack to earth" brought Jack out of his reverie." Man, you have it really bad, don't you? ", Nathan said, shaking his head in pity." Have what?", Jake was confused " I don't have the flu""Oh, not the flu. You have the love bug and it's eating you up", Nathan corrected him, laughing.Jack had accepted the offer to hand out with the guys after he had spent the whole day, trying to create a single document that normally took him two hours tops."I do not have the love bug", he denied."It's in your eyes man, I can see it all too clearly. You're thinking about someone every time you stare into non-existent space", Nathan told him.It was true. He had been thinking about Meghan. What was she doing in Paris, who was she with, was she hanging with another guy, laughing their heads off?Although he would not admit it to Jake, he had to admit
This is a flash back to Jack and Anna's story."I made a promise that I wasn't going back there and I wouldn't have done it, Anna. But I owed it to Micheal. He did a lot for me when I had no place to turn to.I'm fucking sorry, I swear", Jack was pleading with Anna, the boxes they had packed on their king bed."I begged you for one simple thing. One simple thing, Jack. Did I ask you for anything else? I did not. I only begged you to stay away. Let me give you another way to heal.Another way to express yourself but... " Anna replied him, rage in her eyes, tears shinning.Jack felt his heart sink.Hurting her was something he had sworn that he would never do. She had helped him, slowly and patiently brought him out of the miserable place he was.Begged for only thing and he couldn't give her.But how was he going to explain to her that he owed Micheal part of him? Hal
Jack walked into his library and looked at the sofa for the third time that morning.Part of him, although he clearly knew that it was impossible, hoped that the second or third time he came in, he would see Meghan there.See her poring over the papers, reading with some much concentration, a smile forming on her face from time to time.He had caught glimpses of her, while she had been unaware. There were some days he had walked up to the door, his fist poised to knock but had settled for watching her through the slightly opened door.Meghan was something else, something he didn't understand. She was better than he deserved. She gave, her time and emotions to her friends. She approached life more freely than she did.How had she gone and fallen in love with someone like him.For him, she was like a burst of fresh air. Like salvation, healing if he wanted to be honest. He had allowed her to com
"It's amazing, isn't it?""Now I wonder why I put up my initial argument. I should have just said "yes, please""You were giving me all that, Jules I cant accept charity bullshit, sermon"" I was trying to be independent, Sue me", Meghan said." Independent my ass. Who bumped your seat up to first class? Checked you into the hotel?", Juliet asked her" It wasn't comfortable, anyways and the people at the hotel were too stuffy and formal", Meg replied her, turning up her nose." Yet you didn't want to leave""I'll admit, being waited on hands and feet has it's perks. Who cares about the stuffy people?", Meghan said with a sighJuliet walked to the living room wall of the penthouse which was all glass."Tell me , what do you think?""It's beautiful. The view from here is crazy. I can almost touch the sky if I
"Are you still with us?" Jack heard the snap of fingers in front of him and looked at who had the fingers"Yeah, I'm here""You zoned out for a moment there"" I know, dad. I was thinking", Jack replied impatiently. He had finally agreed to the board meeting but he did not agree to be snapped at."What do you think about the production line in Chelsea?",his father asked.Jack bit down on his tongue to refrain himself from replying rudely as he searched for nice words in his vocabulary. If he wanted to tell his father how he felt, his father's ego could take a bruising and Jack wasn't about to sour the sweet chance of him taking over the company. Not when he had worked tooth and skin to get a chance."I think it's a good chance, but...",he let the unspoken words lie in the air." But?', his father prompted.Inside his head, Jack smiled. At
