"Now, tell Daddy what's been bothering you? For the past few days, I've seen you looking gloomy and as if you have many thoughts," Carlos said, holding Chelsea in his arms.
Chelsea took a deep breath, closed her eyes tightly, and prepared to share what had been troubling her. Although Carlos had never blamed her for the loss of their unborn child about two months ago.
"They said I should be able to get pregnant after recovering from the miscarriage, but what's the reality? Up until now, I still haven't gained the trust to have another child, even though I've been hoping for it as an apology to you."
"An apology for what? Daddy has never blamed you for the loss of our unborn child. What happened before was purely due to Daddy's carelessness in not being able to protect you. You and Margareth shouldn't have been in the same place at all. Daddy was so forgetful and neglectful that you almost lost your life. To be honest, if asked, Daddy would even be grateful to have lost our unborn child because Daddy can still hold you until now. And for a replacement, Daddy is sure that they will come at the right time." Carlos caressed Chelsea's still-flat stomach.
He knew his wife longed for a child, but unfortunately, fate had not allowed it yet. So, they could only pray and keep hoping that someday Chelsea would be given the chance again to be pregnant.
"But I'm afraid that you might be disappointed in me. Honestly, ever since the miscarriage, I've felt like I'm no longer perfect as a wife."
"Perfect in what way?" Carlos lifted Chelsea's chin, giving her a brief kiss on her lips. "There's no more perfection I want from you because you've already exceeded that word. So, what else do you want to make me happy? Never think that you have any flaws because, honestly, I don't see any flaws in you."
"Dad, but I really..."
"Enough, dear. Someday, God will surely give you the chance to take care of our child again. Whenever that happens, we can only wait and try. While waiting, how about you get active again at the university? I'll take care of everything."
"Then, if I get pregnant, will I take another leave?" Chelsea wanted to confirm Carlos's wish because she couldn't just take leave and study at her own pace as if her husband owned the university.
"It depends. If your pregnancy doesn't interfere too much or you're in good health with no worries, you don't need to take leave. You can take maternity leave when the time comes. Moreover, last time, Daddy asked for leave because no one knew that my wife belonged to me since we held the wedding reception. That means everyone already knows that you have a husband, and whenever you get pregnant, it certainly won't be strange gossip anymore."
Chelsea pulled her lips' corners, hugging Carlos tightly. "I can't find the words anymore to express my love for you, Daddy."
"Likewise, dear. There are no words that can describe how happy I am to have you now. If it weren't for an important meeting this morning, I would have gone to the office a bit later than usual."
"In that case, let me meet you at the office. It's been quite a while since we were alone there."
"Before lunchtime, come to the office."
"Okay, it's a deal, my dear," Chelsea said, tightening her embrace around Carlos. She didn't want to be away from her husband, even if it was just for a few seconds.
In another room, Alexa sat on the edge of the bed, watching Vano get ready to go to campus.
"Can you come home earlier than usual today?"
Vano turned to his wife. "It doesn't seem likely, but if you don't mind, you can come to the office because I have some work to finish this evening, and the reports need to be sent to Daddy tomorrow morning. Instead of bringing work home, it's better to finish it at the office first. How does that sound?" Vano offered a compromise, trying to find a balance for himself and Alexa. He admitted that he spent a lot of time away from home, and their time together was limited.
And it wasn't suitable for a loveless marriage. However, Alexa was willing to fight against time to perfect their marriage. She accepted all the advice given by Chelsea, and now, slowly, Alexa began to fear losing Vano.
She felt a hint of jealousy when Vano interacted too much with Chelsea.
"Alright, then I'll visit you at the office."
"I'll send you the address or share the location, so you can just follow the coordinates."
"Okay, Van," Alexa replied softly. She still wanted to spend more time with her husband, but she couldn't ask for too much because she knew that she was just a replacement wife.
"That's how it is when our husbands go to work. It feels empty, but as a wife, we have to make an effort to understand all of it," Chelsea said before sitting down next to Alexa. Now, both of them were on the house's terrace.
Alexa glanced briefly at Chelsea and offered a smile. "You're right," she replied briefly, seemingly uninterested in discussing anything with Chelsea.
"Do you have an appointment with Vano? If not, why don't you come to Daddy's office with me?"
"I do have an appointment with Vano. He asked me to come to the office later this afternoon."
"Alright, in that case, I'll head to Daddy's office first. And if I may give you some advice, bring a change of clothes to Vano's office. Take him with you to stay there for a while or rest in a hotel. You both need some time to get closer to each other," Chelsea rubbed Alexa's arm. "Let me know where you'll be staying, and I'll send you a special gift. Promise me you'll use it wisely."
Alexa's eyebrows furrowed. She didn't understand the meaning behind Chelsea's words, and she wanted to ask. However, Chelsea had already left without giving her a chance to inquire further.
Vano was tempted to stop right there. After all, he already had a company that could guarantee his future livelihood. However, considering the time and effort he had already invested, he decided to continue working on his thesis. Summarizing his research, proposing a title again, resubmitting until it got approved, and then waiting for the comprehensive examination and graduation. He couldn't wait to hold the title of a bachelor in between his busy schedule as a company leader.
"I'm sure you'll get approved this time," Amber said after reading the final chapter of Vano's thesis. She felt tired too, managing Vano's thesis preparations, especially when she had to suppress her feelings of love every time she was near him.
"I hope so. It's tiring to revise, change the title, and photocopy back and forth. Luckily, I can do it at the office, so I don't have to queue at photocopy shops. Otherwise, I think I'd be stressed, Sis. I feel bad for my wife too. I've been so busy with this thesis, and we hardly talk. We can't even greet each other in the morning," Vano complained, exhaling heavily. His fatigue was evident from his facial expressions as he talked about his ongoing thesis.
Amber chuckled at Vano's grumbling. He complained about the never-ending thesis, even though the schedule had been set. If he didn't complete it, he'd have to wait for a new schedule, and he wanted to spend time with Alexa. Despite his seeming indifference, deep down, Vano truly longed to be alone with her.
"Please submit this to the dean. I'm sure there'll be good news tomorrow." Amber handed over the thesis she had helped Vano with. Vano's lips curled as he noticed no corrections or comments.
"While there's still time, and it's just a submission away, you better not go home tonight with her."
Vano rubbed his neck, feeling a bit awkward due to Amber's remarks. For some reason, he had been talking about Alexa to her in the past few days, receiving lots of advice. This day seemed to be particularly interesting for Vano. He also checked his phone to see Alexa's schedule at the hospital.
Today, his wife had a day off, but he had work at the office. Tomorrow, Alexa would be working the afternoon shift, which meant they had a few hours they could spend together.
"After this, there's nothing else on your schedule, right, Sis?" Vano double-checked his schedule to ensure there were no more campus-related matters to attend to.
"No, there isn't. Just meet the dean tomorrow."
"In that case, I'll take my leave now, Sis. Thank you for all your help."
85Amber shook his outstretched hand, accepting his gratitude. "You're welcome. And if I may give you some advice, prioritize your wife's feelings above all. Don't get too close to other women, even if it's impossible for anything to happen between you."Vano raised an eyebrow."Don't think poorly of me. I'm not assuming the worst or accusing you. It's just that, as a woman, I understand how jealousy can feel. Sometimes jealousy can make you lose control and act recklessly. Respect her feelings while she's still by your side. Remember, regrets always come at the end, while at the beginning, it's registration."Amber chuckled a bit to lighten the mood in the room, so Vano wouldn't feel too tense while talking to her."Alright, Sis. Thank you for your advice. I'll think carefully before taking any steps.""That's what a real man and an ideal husband would do."Vano kept that message in his mind during the journey to the office. He also contemplated his behavior in front of Alexa so far.
86Alexa didn't see what Vano and his secretary were doing, but she knew they would be heading back to the hotel soon."Okay, then, you save all this data, so tomorrow morning, you can send it to Mr. Carlos. Tomorrow, I might arrive late," Vano said, rubbing his face. "I feel quite tired, managing all of this while dealing with my thesis."The man, often called Frans, could only smile and nod. Vano looked visibly tired, and Frans would do his best to help. Even though Vano was younger, he was still respectful and appreciative of his boss."Whatever it is, if you need help, don't hesitate to ask. I'm ready to assist," Frans replied."Thank you, Frans. In that case, please finish up and go home once it's done. My wife and I are the same. There's a little more work to do, so it's fine if you leave," Vano said."Alright, Sir. Good night," Frans said as he stood up and left.Vano nodded and returned to his computer, finishing the remaining tasks."What were you looking at? You seemed so co
87"Sist," a man's voice greeted Amber's ears.“Van… here. "On the sofa, I can't stand up, my head hurts," he whispered, answering the call.Without any suspicion at all, in the dim light Amber saw Vano approaching while feeling. Find out where it is."Van," Amber whispered, grabbing Vano's hand until she fell into his arms. He immediately turned the situation around and put his body on top of the man.“Sis, wait. T-this is a misunderstanding. I-I… didn't…”She couldn't speak anymore because Amber covered her chest with the tip of her chest to keep the man quiet. Just get to work instead of talking a lot about this and that."Miss,"“Help me, Van. I was trapped by Celine, if left alone I'd rather have a snack outside. You don't need to worry. I won't ask anything from you.”“B-but Sis…”Refuse again? It seemed impossible because he had already felt the beauty of Amber's innocent body. The woman also rubbed her sister who was still covered in material trousers. He groaned, Amber gave a
88"Don't jump to conclusions about this man," Amber spoke softly, almost inaudibly. It seemed as if she was being coerced into saying this.In Vano's mind, it was inconceivable that a woman could force a man into such an act, especially when they didn't know each other well."Please, don't judge him too quickly," Amber continued. "Even though I don't know his name, believe me, I'm the one who forced him into doing this. I'm the one who acted shamelessly, pushing him into an intimate relationship that we shouldn't have had because we're not married. I don't understand why I suddenly had uncontrollable desires after having dinner with Celine. I also don't know if that dinner had anything to do with Celine's presence in my apartment right now. Since our argument, Celine has hardly ever come here. But now she's here, as if she's making sure of something about me."Amber said this after recalling all her memories. She was also trying to put on a brave face for Frans, as she was the one at
89Not wanting to get to the point, Carlos slightly shifted the items on the table. Chelsea lay there and opened her wife's thighs. Still remaining where she was sitting, Carlos buried his face there. Sip. Crushing. Gives a feeling that makes Chelsea's body tense. It felt delicious when the small bulge was found. Small bites, played with the tongue.“Pa…” groaned Chelsea, trying to sit up. Pressing Carlos' head to make it deeper. Playing it down there."Dad... come in," he whispered, no longer able to hold back the feeling of wanting to be filled. Want to be jerked deep until it touches him in there."Sure," Carlos got up quickly. Just lowering his trousers to his thighs, he entered. Stomp Chelsea deep. The woman's mouth groaned. Open because it was tight and full now brought pleasure to him.Doesn't like being hindered. Carlos forcibly removed the mesh dress Chelsea was wearing. Showing the smoothness and beauty that his wife has. His wife was so perfect that he couldn't find a flaw
90there, Mrs. Amber was in a state where you could say she needed some comfort because she was under the influence of some drugs. I don't know what kind, but the most important thing is that she immediately forced me into a marital relationship.""I've refused, and I didn't excessively resist Mrs. Amber's wishes, which is why it happened. That's what's troubling Vano now because, as you know, I'm already married. It's impossible for me to marry Mrs. Amber."Carlos was taken aback by Frans's account. "So, Vano asked you to check on Amber's condition at her apartment, which means when she contacted my son, she was already under the influence of drugs?""It seems that way, sir. If she were in good health, she wouldn't have needed Vano.""But why my son?" Carlos muttered a question to himself, and Frans remained silent, not responding to Carlos's words.Frans himself was puzzled about why Vano had been asked to come. Whether he was fortunate or not, it was Vano's decision to send him the
91Carlos could only shake his head, waving to his wife, who had been more affectionate and somewhat sensitive lately. He knew that he had to comply with whatever Chelsea wanted, to avoid any problems with her."It's been a while since both of you kept this issue hidden from Daddy. Back then, Daddy asked Vano about it, and he said he would try to resolve it himself first. But what happened? Up until now, I see that the problem hasn't been resolved but has been dragging on as if neither of you has any intention of finding a solution to it," Carlos scolded, as Vano and Alexa had just taken their seats in front of him.He had said so much already to encourage Vano and Alexa to open up to him about the Amber issue."Not that I didn't want to tell you, Dad, but I believed I could solve this problem myself," Vano replied, avoiding eye contact with his father."Could you?" Carlos responded. "If you could, then today I wouldn't have seen you both giving each other the cold shoulder for the um
92"No need to answer; I already know what's in your heart. You thought Vano was the only one who could save you, but you forgot that my son is already married. Or maybe you remembered but didn't care about Alexa's existence because you thought that one encounter wouldn't result in anything in your womb. But it's not impossible for what you thought was trivial to end up just as I imagined. If that night Vano had done it, and you got pregnant, would you ask my son to take responsibility? Don't say that you wouldn't want to demand responsibility, because a child must have a clear identity in this country, to take care of all their needs, both health and education, and ensure their future. Don't assume that we are foolish and willing to be deceived by your innocence.""Sir, you're wrong. I never thought that way.""Don't try to deceive me because everything you did is not new in this world. You also disappointed me for what happened that night. There's nothing wrong with you considering
Gibran continued, "As for our divorce, I've already agreed to it. We'll proceed with the legal process, and you'll be free to start a new chapter in your life. I hope you find the happiness you deserve."The conversation between Viska and Gibran marked the beginning of the end of their tumultuous marriage. While their emotions were still raw, they had come to a mutual understanding that it was time to move on and seek happiness elsewhere.Gibran's frustration and pent-up emotions poured out as he defended his actions. He felt betrayed by Viska, who had consistently pushed him away and made unfavorable comparisons with Nicholas. Their relationship had become a battleground of insecurities, and Gibran had sought solace with Shabila.Viska's accusations stung, but Gibran was determined to make her understand the context of his actions. He continued, "Viska, I don't want to justify what I did, but it was a result of our broken marriage. We both contributed to its downfall. I needed someth
190"Also," Bryan paused, kissing Silvi's lips briefly."Don't forget that the night we were together, I can assure you, it's my child."Silvi shook her head. "It's not Devin's child. Do you think after that night, I didn't do anything with other men? Did you really think that night was the only time someone touched me? No, there have been many other nights with so many men because I felt like I wasn't pure anymore. So I was free to do it with anyone since my life was already a mess.""S-so... instead of slightly more ruining myself, and the last time it was done to me was by Devin. That's why he's willing to take responsibility. He's also convinced that this is his child."Bryan let out a bitter laugh, releasing Silvi from his embrace. "Is that so?" He loosened his tie, which had felt suffocating after hearing Silvi's explanation. "Let's prove that what you said is true." He took off the suit jacket that clung to his body.“W-what are you doing?” Silvi stepped back. Hugging her own b
189"No way! I won't leave until I meet Gibran. He has to take responsibility for this child," Shabila insisted, refusing to budge. She held onto Viska and stood her ground."Leave, I said! Go!"Viska couldn't bear Shabila's stubbornness and forcefully pulled her arm, nearly causing Shabila to stumble."What's wrong with you!" Shabila pushed away Viska's hand and fixed her disheveled hair. "Are you afraid your husband's actions will be known to your parents? Or is it that you refuse to accept the truth?" Shabila began to rant."I don't understand what you're saying. Now leave!" Viska demanded."Wait, Viska! Mom wants to ask this woman something." Viska's mother restrained her daughter and turned to Shabila. "Why did you let my granddaughter get pregnant? Don't you know he's already married? What do you want from us? Money?"Shabila seethed with anger. Her dignity felt insulted when the middle-aged woman mentioned money."Do you think I'm a lowly woman who just surrenders her body to a
188Shabila spent the whole day in frustration, angry that she couldn't meet Gibran at his cafe. She paced back and forth in her room, thinking of ways to meet him."Do you think you can avoid me forever? You won't be able to, Gibran. I have to make you take responsibility for the child I'm carrying. You won't be able to escape. Just wait and see."Shabila clenched her fists, planning a thousand ways to meet Gibran. "If I can't find you at the cafe, I'll come to your house. Let's see if you can still avoid me," she muttered to herself.Gibran decided to visit the club where he had met Shabila some time ago. He had a bad feeling about Shabila's visit to his cafe and wanted to find out what had really happened between them that night. Honestly, Gibran didn't remember much because he had been heavily intoxicated that night.Upon arriving at the club, Gibran called one of the waitresses and conveyed his request to meet with the club's owner."I'd like to discuss something important with y
187"What brand would you like, Miss?" The employee asked while displaying several different brands of pregnancy tests.Shabila looked puzzled, which only fueled the employee's suspicions. "Is this your first time buying a pregnancy test?" she guessed with a condescending glance."Y-yes," Shabila replied hesitantly. Seeing the employee looking down on her, Shabila's heart began to boil. "I am already married, just so you know. Here's my ID," she said abruptly, opening her wallet and showing her ID card, which still stated her marital status as MARRIED. Her divorce from Arya was only religious; it wasn't legally recognized yet.Seeing the ID placed on the counter, the pharmacy employee became flustered. She was torn between embarrassment and guilt. "I'm s-sorry, Miss, I didn't mean to—""It's fine, I understand!" Shabila retorted sharply, then pointed towards the pregnancy tests. "So, which one is the best?" she asked. She deliberately didn't want to prolong the issue since she wanted
186Several days had passed, and today was the ceremonial bath event for Silvi. Everything was well-prepared, and the guests were moved by the event, which was expertly guided by the paid organizers, arranged by Silvi's parents. Silvi's large family wore matching light green kebaya, while Devin's family, who were present, wore light blue kebaya. The event was conducted with great solemnity, and Silvi looked beautiful despite wearing makeup that wasn't too flashy. This ceremony included many symbols and motifs that served as lessons or guidelines for the couple, influencing their married life. These symbols or motifs mainly conveyed advice and useful insights for the newlyweds' life together. That's why Mama Silvi insisted on holding the ceremonial bath event, even though Silvi and Devin had been married before. In addition to the food ordered for the guests and relatives, the organizers had prepared specific dishes usually served during this ceremonial bath event. These included tumpe
185Meanwhile, Silvi and Devin listened to the doctor's explanations during the examination. Silvi's pregnancy was already at three weeks. The doctor prescribed vitamins and anti-nausea medication since Silvi mentioned she often felt dizzy and nauseous. Devin didn't ask any questions because it was his first time in a obstetrician's office. He was confused about how to react. Silvi was the one who asked all the questions.Silvi got her next appointment scheduled, and then they left. Devin and Silvi went to the hospital's pharmacy to pick up the prescribed medicines first. Then, Devin asked Silvi where she wanted to go."I don't know. I just feel like lying down in my room.""Why's that? Don't you want to go out together?" Devin asked softly. They were now in the car. "How about having ice cream and buying some new sleepwear for you?""What's the point of buying sleepwear?""Because you're pregnant, and I want you to sleep comfortably. How about it?""I don't want to," Silvi said, maki
184As a father, whose heart wouldn't break upon learning that his daughter is pregnant with no official partner by her side? He felt like a terrible father, willing to do anything as long as the man who impregnated his daughter, Silvi, would take responsibility.Pregnancy is never an easy journey for a woman, especially without a husband by her side. The man Silvi referred to as the father finally decided to find Devin, the man who should be held accountable for what happened to Silvi. He took a taxi to Devin's whereabouts, hoping that he would indeed be there. Impatiently sitting in the taxi, the weary-looking man, no longer in his youth, stared at his phone screen. The journey from the city to the village was quite long, which was why he opted for a taxi. Besides, he didn't want any unpleasant conversations about Silvi if he had brought his driver along.Fortunately, he found out about Silvi's pregnancy before it was too late, or who knows what might have happened. He sighed wearil
183Nicholas didn't want anything to happen to their unborn child. So, he tried his best to grant her wishes. Besides, Alesya's request was relatively easy to fulfill, and it had been quite some time since they had visited her hometown."Are you happy?" Nicholas asked.Alesya turned and nodded. "I've really missed my hometown. As nice as it is to live in the city, the hometown is the number one place to visit," Alesya replied. "Besides, all my childhood memories are buried there."Hearing Alesya's response, Nicholas could only smile. He, who had lived in the city since childhood, never experienced life in the village. So, he didn't fully understand what Alesya meant. In his mind, Alesya might just miss the peaceful atmosphere of the village because the city was quite noisy."Get some rest; I'll wake you up when we arrive," Nicholas said after a moment of silence."Okay."Alesya adjusted her seating position to make herself more comfortable. She also slightly reclined her seat to make
