Alyssa was panicky when she saw Ace fall against her with the penknife plunged deep in his chest. His eyes slowly closed and Lydia screamed. “I didn't ask you to kill him or hit him,” she said and turned to her brother,”Get out of here before they get you.”

“Oh my God,” Alyssa whispered, her hands trembling as she slowly pulled out the knife from Ace's chest. She stared at Lydia in disbelief. So Lydia had asked someone over to treat her wrongly and had ended up getting Ace injured.

“Let go of him,” Lydia yelled and pulled Ace against herself. The guards stared at her in disgust and fear. “Help me take him to the car.”

“I'll come with you,” Alyssa persisted.

“No,” Lydia countered. “You'll sit your assistance down because this is all your fault. If only you had left, all of these wouldn't have happened.”

“Like I was the one who sent someone over to kill me,” she said. “If anything bad happens to him, I hope you remain the unhappy desperate bitch that you are.”

Alyssa stared at Lydia like she had lost her senses. Why did she give a listening ear to the lunatic, first of all? She eyes Lydia incredulously. “I have work tomorrow. I should be sleeping,” she said. “I bet you won't like me delaying tomorrow's work, would you.”“Why're you getting defensive?” Lydia asked as she neared her.“I'm not getting defensive. I'm getting pissed,” Alyssa said as she took her steps back and prepared herself for a fight.Lydia smirked. “I'm not fighting you, okay, so calm down and stop being such a baby. I'm only trying to help you.”“By proposing death?” Alyssa said in disbelief. “I know you want me dead but I didn't know it was this quick.”“I do want you dead,” Lydia said without hesitation. “But still, it's just creating death. Not really making you die.”Alyssa furrowed her brows in confusion. “I do not understand.”“Listen honey we're going to create death. I thought you were already smart enough to understand there's a difference by creating and causing

First of all, it was the heat. It was hot, so hot she wondered what was happening. She remembered opening the windows but it was unbearably hot. She jumped from the bed and began to cough and tear up from the smoke. What the hell was happening? Before she could waste time wondering, she dragged herself to the door and forced it open, falling in the process. She didn't know how much smoke she had inhaled but she was sure it was a lot.Screams and cries for help broke out in the villa and Alyssa tried to find her way to the hallway. Dead but alive was how Alyssa felt. She felt as though she had fallen from the top of a building and had her skull cracked open. The pain and the aches were there. She could hear the screams and feel the heat but she wasn't there. She gasped and fluttered her eyelids open. She groaned out in pain, feeling sore all over. What happened to her? The feeling wasn't comforting. It was just painful. She felt high, too high from the floor and her body felt comfortable around the soft bed– soft bed? That's when it occurred to her. Where was she? She sat up hastily and took in her surroundings. The interior, the trophies and medals, the wolf art– It was all too familiar yet strange. She was in a room that clearly wasn't hers.No wonder she felt high. It was the bed. It was too comfortable but how the hell did she get here? She climbed out of bed and went to the mirror. It was now an habitual part of her. When she saw her reflection she screamed. She looked like a mummy. She was wrapped I'm gau

Alpha Larole walked in silently and stared at the scene going on and the mess Ethan had made. Ethan scattered everything on the table and they fell into a mess. The security officials grabbed him roughly by the shoulders, threatening to throw him out.“You all did this to my sister,” Ethan yelled as tears slipped down his eyes. “It's all your fault she's dead and I will never forgive you all.”Alpha Larole looked at Ethan sternly. “Go home and rest.”Ethan scoffed. “Now that Alyssa is dead, I should go home and rest? None of you ever let her rest. She was always scared to stay out or spend time with me. You bullied her.”“This man has been causing trouble, Alpha. It's best we throw him out. This is a hospital,” a nurse said to Alpha Larole.Ace sighed. “Let go of him please. It's all my fault all this is happening. My mismanagement contributed to it too. Alyss should never have stayed on the basement floor.”Everyone went silent and Lydia stared in confusion at Ace. She had expected h

“Did you like your little surprise?”Lydia grinned at her father and put her arms around him. “You did well. I was shocked, trust me. How could you pull that off within that short period?”He shrugged. “My daughter was sad. I knew I had to act fast. I can't let some commoner take your position.”Lydia's lip curled into a smile and her eyes burned with pride as she stared at him. “Your daughter is proud of you dad. I'm so glad she's out of the way. She burned into Ash.”“That's perfect. There can't be traces of evidence. Remember I told you to leave it to me. Whatever I do, I do it well.” He looked at her sternly. “I've done my part, sweetie, now you have to act swiftly. You have to get the Alpha’s son to get mated to you on time. Soon, he will be the Alpha and he will need a Luna.”Lydia stiffened as the memories of today came flooding in. She slowly took her seat. Her father watched her with curious eyes as he observed the change in her demeanour. “Are you okay?”She shook her head a

Alyssa teared her eyes away from the mirror and sat on the bed. She wasn't pleased about the change but she was grateful she had a new face. One that was without wrinkles and scars even though she didn't recognise it.She wondered who it was that had owned this face that she was going to have to live with for the rest of her life.“How do you feel? Do you like it?” Ebsy asked as she walked in.Alyssa sighed. “I feel weird. I mean, who has this new face though?”“It's no one's. I just told the surgeon to do his thing and change a little. Like your cheekbone for example, it's higher and that's one of the few.”Alyssa swallowed. “She looks pathetic. Insufferable actually.”He nodded and squeezed her hands in his. “I know you don't like it but you'll have to live with it. This new face still has a lot of beauty, only a few things have changed.”She groaned. “I'm okay now. That means I can walk around, right? I mean, what do you think? “That's enough,” Harriet snarled and gave Kalista a look of warning.Kalista made a face at the coach before backing away.“Everyone take your positions. Jada, focus on them. Imitate whatever I do and whatever they do and when it's time for sparring, you have me.”All of them were assembled into positions and Coach had Alyssa separated from the people so they wouldn't cause her any trouble.“Warm up everyone,” She said. “Get into the spirit. Let the blood circulate round, sweat out and get your mind and body prepared.”Alyssa began to stretch as they did, ignoring their looks. Most of the people in the pack were people she could hardly recognise. It seemed as though the ones she had known had left and these new people she didn't know them at all.“I kinda feel bad for her,” someone said. “Coach, I'll change positions and stay with the new puppy.”“Her name's Jada!” Coach snapped. “Be nice. If you're going to give her problems then let her be.”“Come on now and don't be salty towards

You promised,” she said, turning him forcefully to face him.Ebsy shrugged her hands off him and called everyone's attention in a loud and firm voice. “Kalista's right. This girl here is not an outcast. She's indeed Alyssa and she didn't die in the fire. No, she survived because I pulled her out. And there's proof.”“No,” Alyssa yelled, grabbing him again. “Please don't.”“I'm sorry Ally, but that's the only way I can make you stay,” he whispered.“Show us the proof!” Someone demanded in anger.Alyssa's eyes searched his in bewilderment.“What do you mean?”“That's the only way Ace won't get back with you and you'll be able to stay with me,” he whispered.A gasp escaped from Alyssa's mouth as she stared at him with foreign eyes. “All this…You're doing all this because of Ace?”“No, because I love you,” he said.He snapped

Do you have to blend with the dark?” She asked, clutching her chest. “I've had enough jump scares for the day. Besides, what are you doing here?”“What am I doing here?” Ebsy repeated, his voice growing hoarse. “It's fucking late.”“I know, and you don't have to be so loud. It's just us two,” she said distastefully.Ebsy's frown deepened as he glared at her. “I was worried. Haven't I told you not to stay late? What if my family had hurt you?”“I'm sorry but I had a lot of work to do. It's your family's fault they hate me,” she chuckled as she undid her apron. “Now I'm forced to work all day, as a punishment. I bet you didn't know that.”“I was Informed,” he said coldly.Alyssa shrugged her shoulders. “Fairs. Well it's late.”“We need to talk.”“Can't it wait?” She asked in a low voice. “All I want to do is sleep. I've been working.”“Or you've been messing around?”

Chapter 71Alyssa sat in the small, dimly lit room, her mind spinning, and for the first time in hours, there was silence. No accusations, no glares. Just stillness.Ebsy stood nearby, leaning against the wall. He had that look he always wore when things got heavy—worried but trying to hide it. He was terrible at hiding things, though, not from her. “Are you okay?”“I don't know,” Alyssa whispered, letting out an unsteady breath. She still hadn’t fully grasped how close she had come to being caught. “You have to stay in here till you're better,” Ebsy proposed.“I'm fine,” she swallowed, her hands shaking slightly as she ran them through her hair, trying to calm herself. “How long will they be here?” She inquired, gazing up at him.“I don't know Ally,’’ he said, shaking his head slightly. “But I'm pretty sure it's going to be a long one with everything that happened today.”“I shouldn’t have dragged you into this,” she whispered, staring at her hands. “I’m sorry.”Ebsy shook his head.

Alyssa and Ebsy stood frozen, the world around them dissolving into a blur as Ace's sudden support sent shockwaves through the tense scene. Alyssa felt like her lungs had collapsed, gasping for air in the midst of the chaos. Ebsy felt small. This was why he hated his family. They brought out the worst in him and demeaned him before the people.Ace, sensing the escalating tension, tried to mediate once more. "Perhaps we can discuss this calmly and find a solution that—”Ebsy's father cut him off. "Enough, Ace. We’ve heard all we need to hear. Ebsy, make your decision. Show us you have what it takes to be an Alpha, or step aside.”The room fell silent as everyone waited for Ebsy’s response. At that moment, Ethan, who had been standing quietly beside Ace, spoke up. He was tired and irritated at what was happening."Whether it's true or not, we can find out right now. Let's check her for signs of poisoning,” he suggested.Alyssa's heart skipped a beat at the sound of Ethan's voice. She sp

Ace and Ethan listened intently to the heated argument unfolding before them. The girl at the centre of the commotion seemed to be the reason for a deep-seated conflict within the pack. They heard the accusations clearly: "She almost killed my daughter! We demand an explanation!"Ebsy, standing protectively in front of the girl, countered just as fiercely. He eyed his father in anger. "Your daughter poisoned her first! She was defending herself!"The crowd around them was not convinced, their voices rising in a crescendo of disbelief and anger. "She's a danger to our pack! We can't have her here! Alpha she almost hurt your sister yet you defend a stranger.”“Because Kalista sought trouble. I know the sister I have and what she can do. This new girl can't hurt a fly.”“She can't hurt a fly. Yet she pounced on your sister.what are you saying?” Kalista’s mother demanded in rage, trying to rush for Alyssa but the guards held her in place, firmly.Ace glanced at the girl standing behind E

Alpha Larole had noticed the strain on his son's face and the heaviness in his demeanour. Concerned, he decided to send Ace on a mission to visit neighbouring packs. "Take Ethan with you," he suggested, hoping the trip would serve as a distraction and a chance for both young men to recover from recent events.Ace agreed, seeing it as an opportunity not only to fulfil his father’s wishes but also to help Ethan, who had been drowning in guilt and anger. At first, Ethan wanted to turn him down but he had to respect Alpha Larole's wishes. The two set off, their journey taking them through lush forests and bustling pack territories. Ethan remained silent for most of the trip, his thoughts a stormy sea. Ace, unperturbed, looked after him with the care of an older brother, ensuring he was fed, rested, and safe. They visited four or five packs over the span of more than ten days, each visit offering a glimpse into different lifestyles and traditions. Ace was always attentive, noting the diff

In the middle of the night, Alyssa woke up to the soft glow of moonlight filtering through her bedroom window. When did she get here? Probably when she was asleep. Her head throbbed slightly, a dull reminder of the recent chaos. As she stirred, she noticed Ebsy lying asleep by her bedside, his face etched with exhaustion and worry. She moved to sit up, her slight gesture enough to wake him.Ebsy’s eyes fluttered open, and he quickly sat up, concerned immediately replacing the sleepiness. "Alyssa, are you okay?" he asked, his voice husky with fatigue."I'm fine," Alyssa reassured him, her voice soft but steady. “You don't have to stay by my side every time, you know.”He shrugged. “I wanted to,okay. If I had been more careful, none of them would have hurt you.” "It’s not your fault, Ebsy. None of this is.”Ebsy's expression darkened, guilt evident in his eyes. "I should have protected you better. If I had been more vigilant, Kalista wouldn’t have been able to—”Alyssa cut him off, rea

Ebsy hurriedly dialed the number for emergency services, his voice steady despite the chaos. "We need an ambulance at 122 Willow Street, immediately.” His sister's breathing slowed and he couldn't tear his eyes away from her.He scoped her in his arms when she vould no longer walk and she whimpered in pain from the slightest touch. “You shouldn't have found fault with Jada and you know it.”“Even in a critical situation like this, Jada is all you think about? She's not even family. I was the one who got hurt.”“Because you were the one who started the fight,” he said. “Jada would never do that.”“So much trust in someone you don't know,” she said.Ebsy arched his brow. “What are you saying?”She shrugged. “What I'm saying is, you don't know her from anywhere yet you defend her a lot.”Moments later, the paramedics arrived and whisked Kalista away to the hospital. Rather than go with her, he went back to Alyssa's room and found her unconscious on the floor. Ebsy carried Alyssa out, his
