VALERIE'S POV

I decided to retrace our steps and see if I could find any clues as to where Pat might have gone. As I walked, I kept calling out her name, hoping that she would hear me and respond. After a few minutes of searching, I spotted something in the distance that caught my eye. It was a small figure sitting on a rock, and as I got closer, I realized that it was Pat. She was sitting with her head in her hands, and I could tell that she had been crying.

"Pat, are you okay?" I asked, rushing over to her.

She looked up at me with tears in her eyes, and I could see the pain and sadness written all over her face.
