It was my 18th birthday. And fortunately for me and my twin sister, the full moon night. Double fortunately, the blood moon night. It's considered that the hosts who awaken their wolves on the blood moon night, are considered the most powerful among our kind. And are often chosen to take over the highest ranks among tha packs, like alpha, Luna, beta, beta woman, Gamma and gamma woman.
Life was not perfect for me. Especially when my sister was stealing the limelight by lying to our parents. Only one person knew her truth. That was our brother Daniel. But he had to leave the pack for his Alpha training. And he was not coming home, even for our awakening.
Unlike my sister, I was close to my brother. I was his princess. I didn't expect much from my life. A mate who would respect me and love me. A life where no one steal away my limelight.
Holding a cup of latte in my hands, I peeked out of my window. The sun was lowering in the sky. Time was running fast. I looked at my dress that rested on my bed. Simple white gown, something that would easily torn off of my body when time would be right.
Sighing, I finished my latte. It was time I was supposed to get ready. The party would start soon. It was full moon. And my boyfriend, well, my now fiance, couldn't come to the ceremony because his father wanted him to start taking partial responsibilities of the pack. So by the time he marks me, he will have some experience to finally take over the pack.
It happened a few years ago. Everyone thought he was gonna choose Rebecca as his future mate. But he chose me for some reason.
After I had showered, I changed my clothes and brushed my hair. As I stepped out of the room, I found Rebecca standing in front of the door. “What do you want now?” I asked her, rolling my eyes in annoyance.
“Brad wants to meet you before the party starts. He said there's no way he is missing out today without seeing you.” My cheeks burned as I heard that. Though, he hadn't reached out to me.
“Quit it. If dad finds out, I'll be in trouble. And I don't want that.” I replied, trying to push her out of my way.
“He is asking for you. You need to visit the hotel. He's waiting for you there.” She whispered in my ear, and handed me the key card. Then she walked away. I was staring at the key card, trying to figure out what was I supposed to do in that situation.
After an hour of trying to reach out to Brad, I decided to just go to the hotel where he was waiting for me. I didn't have my wolf yet, who could advice me. And Daniel wasn't around as well to guide me. Wrapping a long blazer around my body, I stepped out of my bedroom.
I was stepping out of the mansion, looking at the key card, when I bumped into someone. When I looked up, I gulped hard. It was the person I dreaded the most, Beta Andrew. “Where are you going?” He asked.
“Just out!” I replied, smiling nervously.
“Don't go doing anything stupid. Today is the big day for you.” He warned me before walking into the mansion. Once he walked away, I let go of the breath I was holding in for too long. Without waiting, I ran out. But I was constantly looking behind, to check he's not following me.
I took a cab to the hotel. I didn't have long. I had to be back home within an hour, or everyone would know that I left at the time like that. Using the key card, I was able to enter the booked room. But he wasn't there. Brad wasn't in the room. And in hurry, I actually forgot my phone home as well.
Biting my nails, I waited for him for a while. But he didn't come. I knew I had to leave or it would be a problem for me. I sighed as I wore my blazer again and decided to finally leave. As soon as I opened the door, I found a dozen rogues standing in front of me. How did I know they were rogues, well, they smelled like rogues. I might not have my wolf but Daniel trained me to recognize rogues from afar.
“And where do you think you're going, princess? It's rude to leave without greeting and serving your guests.” One of the rogues growled. I was wondering what he was talking about, or why he spoke to me as if we knew each other. Before I could ask him, my world suddenly went dark.
