CHAPTER

ARABELLA POV

I got off the phone, inhaling deeply. The restroom was oddly quiet and echoing, so I didn’t trust that it would not have exposed my intentions. I tried to speak quietly as much as I could, but this was a public bathroom and I didn’t exactly trust it. I wrapped the wipes of blood in a thin sheet and hid it in a section in my bag, hoping to send it out of this pack as soon as I could and have it tested for DNA. Then, I would have my true answer. For now, I would continue to play it off and lay low.

I squared my shoulders and walked out of the bathroom. Rhys was standing at the door when I opened it widely, gasping in surprise and nearly falling when I saw him standing there. He was leaning against the wall, so he straightened when he saw me, giving me his dark, suspicious eyes. I placed a hand on my chest and inhaled sharply, trying to get my composure back.

“Jeez! You scared me! You can’t just stand there like that!” I bellowed.
