Gasping Danica shot up eyes flying open. Looking around she found that she was still in the hospital, Mason who sat beside her looked completely lost as he took her in.
Before Danica had any chance to ask what happened, he jumped up wrapping his arms around her tightly.
"DOCTOR!" He bellowed as he hugged Danica tighter. "GET YOUR ASS IN HERE!"
"Mas..." Danica tried only for Mason to pull away and look at her, his eyes sparkling with tears.
"How?" He asked as a sob overtook him and he pulled her to him once more. "Fuck how, thank the goddess."
Danica couldn't keep up with what was going on as Dr. Williams and a nurse ran into the room both their eyes growing wide when they spotted Danica.
"How is this possible?" Dr. Williams muttered rushing forward and grabbing Danica's wrist to take a pulse. "Steady..."
"What's going on?" Danica finally managed to get out as she fixed her gaze on Dr. William's.
"D
"They're disappearing." Danica murmurred. As Mason and Dr. Williams continued to speculate back and forth the translucent swirls all over Danica's skin had slowly started to disappear and were now nonexistent."What?" Mason asked turning his attention to Danica. "What did you say?""They're gone." Danica repeated holding up an arm to show Mason and Dr. Williams. "They disappeared while you two spent your time bickering."Seeming to not fully believe Danica, Dr. Williams moved forward grabbing hold of her arm and examining it. As he did so his brows furrowed as a look of utter confusion formed on his face. Releasing her arm the doctor locked his gaze with Danica's."Did you feel anything strange when they formed?" He asked now seeming to be deep in thought."Strange?" Danica asked cocking her head to the side. "What do you mean by odd?"Danica took a moment to consider, there had been that moment when her
Mason didn't come after Danica as she continued out into the world and then towards the main street leading away from the training grounds and back to town.Feeling even more distressed Danica continued to move making her way back to what she knew and away from the new world that she had been residing in.Everything was as normal when Danica entered the heart of town, people bustled around going about their days, children played along the streets, and vendors tried to draw attention to their stalls where they were selling fresh produce and fish. The whole scene was so normal and so mundane that Danica had a hard time believing that this world even existed.Around her people gave weird looks taking in Danica's beaten up state, but they quickly averted their gazes and moved around. A few children who noticed pointed as their faces paled like she was a monster rather than a person herself.Danica couldn't help but laugh on the inside, if on
"Did you miss me?" Rebecca asked cackling as she entered the house.Behind Rebecca Danica could see four more harpies and two trolls waiting for commands, from the looks of it there was no way that she would be able to escape."Why are you here?" Danica asked feeling her heart begin to hammer within her chest."I don't think I really owe you any explanation." Rebecca responded. "Plus, what good does an explanation do a dead woman anyway?""Did I do something to offend you?" Danica asked while slowly peeking around to see if there was anything available to use as a weapon.Smirking Rebecca stopped moving, "Did you do anything to offend me? No, not really, however your whore of a mother did something to offend our queen."Taken aback Danica tried to process what had just come out of Rebecca's mouth. How could her mother have possibly offended the harpies? As this thought hit the image of her mother dead in a harpies ar
With each passing minute the effects of the wolfs bane intensified until Danica felt as if her entire body was on fire. The room around laughed and cheered as she became unable to hold back her screams of pain. Everyone was enjoying the show and even if she didn't want to give them what they wanted she couldn't stop."Isn't it wonderful?" The harpie queen asked giggling. "Wolfs bane was probably one of the greatest discoveries in existence. You wolves are quite annoying after all.""Shut up." Danica panted as pain roared through her. "You are just a bitter old hag."Even though she knew that pushing the queens buttons wasn't the best of ideas, Danica couldn't help the urge she felt to piss the harpie queen off."You're playing with fire." The harpie queen warned getting up from her seat. "Would you like me to cut that tongue of yours out so you can't speak ill of anyone ever again?"Biting back her reply Danica c
As Danica worked to collect herself Marie moved towards her once more, the look of bloodlust was obvious on her face as she eyed Danica."Why come after me if your problem is with everyone?" Danica asked desperate to distract Marie."Didn't I tell you?" Marie asked seeming amused. "I hated your parents, they were traitors.""You keep saying that, but what does that even mean?""Since you're going to die I might as well tell you about it." Marie said grabbing Danica by the hair and lifting her off the ground. "I can grant you this last kindness.""Should I say thank you?" Danica asked with a chuckle.Dropping Danica back onto the ground Marie strolled back to her throne taking a seat and throwing one leg over the other."Ladies bring her forward so I can tell her the story of the two biggest traitors that I've ever had the misfortune of meeting." Marie commanded.Danica let out a yelp of pain as the two harpies
'Danica...' the soft voice drifted into Danica's mind as she hovered between awake and unconcious. 'Please....' The wolfs bane that ran through her veins kept Danica from truly being able to be aware. She could only guess that Marie was worried if she was fully alert she would try to contact Mason through the mindlink and give away what was going on. 'Please respond.' The voice seemed to be growing desperate. 'Where are you?' Trying to collect all her strength Danica did her best to connect with whoever the voice belonged to. In her delirious state she wasn't fully able to place a finger on who was calling out to her, but she had a feeling it was Mason. 'I don't know.' Danica's voice came out in barely a whisper as she fought to stay aware long enough to communicate. 'Some underground holding cell.' 'Did you see the scenery when they brought you there?' Mason demanded as Danica felt his anger beginn
Danica bolted as quickly as her injured leg would allow her down the brightly lit hallway looking here and there for a room to sneak into in an attempt to throw Marie. She had managed to lock her in the stairwell, giving herself some time to make some distance, but the door wouldn't hold the furious harpie queen much longer.Turning to look behind her Danica didn't expect a strong set of hands to grab and yank her into a dark room before wrapping around her mouth to stop a scream that tried to escape."It's me." Mason's voice whispered in Danica's ear sending a wave of comfort through her.Turning slightly Danica looked into his warm green eyes as all her fear and worry immediately washed away."About time." Danica sighed pulling Mason's hand away from her mouth. "I was beginning to believe you wouldn't be able to find me.""Nothing in this world would stop me from finding you." Mason insisted with a small smile.Feeling her hear
"Any brilliant ideas?" Danica asked while looking over her shoulder at the harpies that were quickly gaining on them.'Just a little further.' Mason responded picking up speed. 'There is a portal ahead and reinforcements waiting.'"What about the ones that were in the harpie palace?" Danica asked as fear clutched her heart. "You've got a lot of explaining to do when we get back."'Sure.' Mason chuckled."Now's not the time to be laughing."From behind Danica could hear the harpies and trolls gaining on them. It seemed that if they didn't reach the portal soon they would be recaptured."They're gaining on us!" Danica shrieked while ducking as a harpie swooped down towards her from above. As the harpie attempted to right herself something unseen slammed into her sending her flying to the ground. Hissing and shrieking the harpie tried to break free from whatever had hold of it.From the wounds that we
