33: HIS POINT OF VIEW

"Colten, son, you should eat, even just a little. Don't neglect yourself," I heard my mom say as she sat on my bed. I had been staring at the ceiling of my room, lost in my thoughts. I didn't even feel like talking; I was so tired. I couldn't feel the pain in my feet because of the car accident.

The day she left me, it felt like I lost all purpose in life. I could only watch her leave the country. I had no idea where they went. I wanted to stop her, but I also wanted to give her what she wanted. She wanted me out of her life, but I couldn't give her enough time to think.

"Do you think she'll come back to you when she sees you like this? You should take care of yourself! You've been drinking alcohol, how will that help your situation? Just listen to me for once! I'm tired too, your Dad is also tired. Please, son, listen to us," my mom pleaded. I had wasted away for months, losing myself in self-destructive behavior.
