Chapter four: SISTER-IN-LAW IS YOUR PERSONAL ASSISTANT?!

Chapter four

Still in Matt's room....

"Pah!" Ava smacked Matt on his head with her hand.

"Why did you hit me?!" Matt asked.

"Why should I not hit you? You just came out of a life-threatening surgery hours ago and you are already talking about heart attack!" Ava shouted at Matt.

"Then why would you shout like that?!" Matt shouted back.

"How did I shout?!" Ava put her hand on her waist while questioning Matt. Ava and her brother continued to talk back and forth.

Derrick just stood at the edge of the table and watched Ava and her brother exchange words like they were little kids.

"Sister, stop doing that. There is someone, here" Matt reminded Ava. Ava froze and turned to Derrick with a smile on her face, which looks as if she is embarrassed.

"So you said that you remembered where you first met me?" Derrick asked.

"Yes sister, where did you two meet?" Matt asked. He himself is curious and wanted to know where his sister and this man met.

"When I was chased out of the house by dad and Sharon, I met him behind the tree at the roundabout close to our house, he was injured and I helped him call for help," Ava explained.

"Oh, is that so?" Matt asked, surprised.

"Mm" Ava hummed.

"Now you remember, you can now know why I helped you?" Derrick asked.

"Yes, you...you are helping me out in return for the help I rendered to you in the past," Ava said.

"Okay, but that is not the only reason I helped you, but with time you will know," Derrick said. He did not want to tell her that he fell in love with her from the first time he met her because that would scare her away.

"There is another reason?" Ava asked.

"Yes, but I can not tell you. You would have to find out by yourself," Derrick said.

"Is there anything wrong if he tells me the other reason? What a narcissistic person!" Ava thought.

"Thank you for helping me pay for my brother's surgery and moving him to a better ward. We are indebted to you and anytime you need our help, we will surely help you," Ava said politely.

"No need, you are already helping me," Derrick said.

"How?" Ava asked, looking at Derrick. She was confused, as she did not know what Derrick meant.

"You will know soon," Derrick said and got ready to leave. "I will be going now, take care of your health," Derrick said and left the room.

When he left, Matt was the first to come out of his reverie.

"What do you think he meant, sister?" Matt asked.

"I do not know Matt.... I do not know" Ava said, still looking towards the direction of the door.

Still F city hospital.....

Clara's room.....

Clara's injury was not that serious but her and her mother, Sharon planned the whole thing and of course Clara being good at acting like a white lotus all the time, exaggerated the whole situation and to complete their plan, the mother - daughter duo paid the doctor to give the wrong diagnosis to her father, Casper who easily bought the whole lie.

"Mom, how did it go?" Clara asked.

"It went well, Ava and that her sickly younger brother, Matt, is out of the way. They have been disowned and chased out of the house and the Addams family for good," Sharon said happily.

"Really?" Clara asked.

"Yes! Or will I be lying to you?" Sharon asked, looking at her daughter.

"No..no...I believe you, I just did not know it would be this easy. Assuming we knew it would be this easy, we would have done this a long time ago," Clara said.

"Well, the main thing now is that they are out of the way and nothing is hindering us from keeping the inheritance for ourselves," Sharon said.

"Yes," Clara said, "but where are they now? You know that her younger brother has a weak heart," Clara said.

"Yes... I do not know, he probably would have died by now," Sharon said.

"Do you think so?" Clara asked doubtingly.

"You do not need to think about that. That is her problem, not ours, so let us forget about that," Sharon said.

"Okay" Clara said.

"What you need to do now is to make sure that you hold onto Martin, you know that, right?" Sharon said.

"Of course I know that," Clara said.

"Okay, as long as you know that, let me go and get you something to eat," Sharon said and stood up and left the room.

"Okay" Clara said as she saw her mother leave the room. She smirked.

"Now I am the only daughter of the Addams family.... your father is now mine and your fiancé is also mine now," Clara said laughing.

Sharon left Clara's room at the hospital cafeteria to buy something for Clara. After she bought the food, she went back to Clara's room, but she was shocked on her way back.

As she turned the corner that lead to the VVIP section of the hospital, she saw Ava coming out of the door that leads to the VVIP section.

"What is she doing here? And how come she is coming out of the VVIP section of the hospital? Is that place not meant for the rich of the richest people?" Sharon thought. Although they were rich but they were not rich enough to afford the VVIP section of this hospital. They could only afford the VIP.

Sharon walked to the nurse behind the front desk in front of the VVIP section and decided to ask her to know what was going on.

"Welcome ma'am, how may I be of help to you?" The male nurse asked in a cheerful manner.

"Please, is there any patient with the name Matthew Addams?" Sharon asked.

The nurse looked at Sharon suspiciously, but after some seconds, she waved the idea that this woman was dangerous. She typed something into the computer for some seconds before she looked up at Sharon.

"Yes, there is someone whose name is Matthew Addams. Please, what is your relationship with the patient?" The nurse asked.

"I am his mother," Sharon said.

"Mother?" the nurse said, looking at Sharon in doubt.

Sharon noticed the way the nurse was looking at her and she frowned her face.

"Do you think that I would be lying?" Sharon asked.

"No... no I did not say that," the nurse denied.

"So, which room is he in?" Sharon asked.

"He is in room one," the nurse said.

"Room one? Is that not supposed to be the most expensive room in the VVIP section? How come he is there?" Sharon asked.

"How would I know that? I am just a nurse here," the nurse said. This woman in front of her is becoming increasingly annoying for her liking.

"Whatever. " Sharon already knew that the nurse was not happy with her, so she chose to leave and would come back later. She turned and left the VVIP section to Clara's room.

Back at the front desk of the VVIP section....

After the nurse saw Sharon left, she picked up her phone and called Derrick. The phone was answered on the third ring.

"Boss," the nurse's tone changed to a serious one.

"Speak to me," Derrick said coldly. If the bodyguard he assigned to protect Ava and her brother in disguise of a nurse called him, that means something has happened.

"Boss, that woman came to ask if their madam's brother is in the VVIP section of the hospital," the nurse said.

"And what did you say?" Derrick asked.

"I told her what you instructed me to tell her if she eventually comes to ask," the nurse said.

"Very good. Remain watchful and vigilant because we know what she is capable of," Derrick remained him.

"Yes boss," the nurse said.

"Continue with your work," Derrick said and ended the call.

"Yes boss," the nurse said. Once the phone call ended, his countenance reversed back to his previous cheerful mood.

Back at Clara's room....

Sharon entered Clara's room in a daze and almost knocked over a flower vase, if not for the remainder of Clara.

"Mom! Watch out!" Clara shouted as she saw her mother almost hit a flower vase in front of her.

"Oh, thank you," Sharon said.

" Mom, what are you thinking about that you almost hit the flower vase?" Clara asked.

"I was just thinking about something," Sharon said, walking towards Clara. She brought out the bed table, put it on Clara's lap and sat down beside Clara and started placing the food on the bed table.

"What were you thinking about?" Clara asked curiously. She was curious to know what would make her mother to almost crush into a flower vase.

"I saw Ava coming out of the VVIP section of the hospital," Sharon said.

"What do you mean? What would Ava be doing in the VVIP section of the hospital when she can not afford even the bills for the regular people?" Clara was shocked.

"Exactly what I thought, but I decided to confirm my suspicion and went to get information from the nurse and found out that her brother Matthew is staying in the most expensive room there," Sharon said, still in a state of shock.

"What! How could she be able to afford it? No...no it can not be," Clara shouted, shaking her head continuously.

"Maybe she found a rich man and became his mistress," Sharon said.

"A rich man? Then the man must be very rich for Ava's brother to be staying in the VVIP section...." Clara said.

"She just clung herself to one rich old man, so do not worry yourself," Sharon said.

"How sure are you that the man she clung herself to is an old man?" Clara asked.

"I am very sure, so eat up before the food gets cold," Sharon said, opening the flask and pouring the food in the plate on the table.

"Hmm," Clara said and started eating.

J & D group.....

Derrick's office.....

"Yo! What's up, dude?" A young man walked into the office. He wore a beach shirt and plain white pants. He was wearing a sunglass that he later took off as he sat down on the sofa in the office.

"You finally decided to come back?" Derrick raised his head up from the documents he was looking at and looked at his friend, who has been on a long vacation. It was as if he did not want to come back.

"Yes, how have you been, bro?" Luke asked.

"Good. " Derrick did not speak much, and he continued going through the documents on his table.

"Have you found her yet?" Luke asked. He has become serious now.

Derrick's hand froze as he was about to sign a document. He looked at Luke and said, "yes"

"Really?" Luke asked, surprised.

"Yes" Derrick said.

"Have you told her about your feelings? When will I meet sister-in-law?" Luke continued to ask questions excitedly.

"She does not know that I like her yet.... I haven't told her yet," Derrick said.

Immediately Derrick finished talking, all the excitement that Luke has vanished into thin air.

"What do you mean you haven't told her yet?" Luke asked.

"It is as you heard," Derrick said.

"Why haven't you told her yet?" Luke asked.

"I did not want to push her farther away from me. Telling her that I love her at the first meeting would definitely make her avoid me," Derrick said.

"Sighs,"

"You are right there...wait....you met sister-in-law already?" Luke asked wide eyed, looking at Derrick surprised.

"Yes. I found out that her younger brother was hospitalised and needed surgery, so I helped her, but she was not aware that I was the one who helped her until yesterday," Derrick said.

"Damn! Bro, you did well.... but did she remember you?" Luke asked.

"At first she did not but later she remembered," Derrick said.

"Very good, at least she remembered you," Luke said, nodding his head up and down.

Knock...knock...

"Come in" Derrick said. Adam opened the door and walked in.

"Welcome back young master Luke," Adam greeted.

"Thanks" Luke said to Adam.

"Sir, this is the file that you asked for sir," Adam said, handing over the file to Derrick.

"Drop it on my table," Derrick said.

"Okay sir" Adam went and dropped the file on Derrick's table and returned to his side.

"Sir, madam has replied," Adam told Derrick.

"What did she say?" Derrick asked.

"She said that she is grateful to you for accepting her as your personal assistant and she would try her best and work hard and also that she would resume very early on Monday morning," Adam reported the whole information as Ava said it.

"She does not need to work hard, I just need her by my side," Derrick murmured to himself.

Luke, who is sitting by the side and heard everything, was overwhelmed with joy. He was truly happy.

"Dude! Sister in law is your personal assistant?" Luke asked.

"Yes" Derrick said.

"How come? Did you offer her the job directly, or you sent someone?" Luke asked excitedly.

"None of that happened," Derrick said.

"If you did not offer her the job directly or sent someone to her, then how come?" Luke asked.

"She applied for the job herself," Derrick said.

"Really?" Luke asked.

"Yes. I put up a vacancy notification that I need a personal assistant and she happened to be among the list of candidates for the job, so I just chose her immediately," Derrick said.

"Wow! You both are really destined for each other," Luke said.

"Yes" Derrick said.

"Mmm...." Luke sighs, "when will I get my own soulmate?" Luke asked nobody in particular.

"Stop fooling around with girls. Only then would you be able to meet the one for you," Derrick said. He stood up from the sofa and went back to his leather chair and continued working on the documents on the table.

"You..." Luke could not continue his sentence.

"I am not the one fooling around with girls! They are the ones throwing themselves at me!" Luke shouted.

Derrick paused what he was doing and looked at Luke, smiling, "They throw themselves at you because you allow them to do that. Now can you go back to your own company and allow me to work?" Derrick asked and continued his work.

"You!..." Luke said and left the office.
