“These rogues have to weaken the Crescent Moon Pack as much as possible before we swoop in and take over. The kid alpha’s territory is big and if I absorb it into my pack, I will have the biggest pack around and be the logical choice to take over as Alpha King.” Alpha London said to his beta, the only thing he cared about was power and to keep a promise he made to his late father.

He hired rogues to keep attacking the Crescent Moon Pack, Jakes pack, weakening it and he is the reason for a lot of deaths in that pack including that of Jake’s father who was killed a month ago during an attack.

“The rogues we hired have already done a lot of damage to the pack, the kid doesn’t know what he is doing yet and is still consumed by grief of losing his father. Taking the pack from him will be easy.” Alpha London smirked pleased with the news. The king's right-hand man general Xander, who is alpha London’s cousin killed the alpha King.

The alpha king was not the type to send troops and stay behind when there was a problem with the packs under his care. He would throw himself into battle and fight for and with his people. Many loved and admired him because of that and many more reasons. They killed him in the rogue attack that took the life of the alpha of Crescent Moon Pack, Jake’s father. But rogues did not kill the alpha king, his right-hand man killed him on the battlefield. A perfect murder that no one will suspect.

The right-hand man, general Xander was working with his cousin, alpha London, to help him take over as the next king after the death of the current one. They castrated the rogue attack on Crescent Moon because they knew the pack will seek help from the alpha king because their alliances are far. The palace was close and asking the alpha king for help would be the logical choice and knowing the person the alpha king was; they knew he will fight among his warriors. A perfect time for general Xander to kill him and blame it on the rogues.

“It won’t be long now Shane; Crescent Moon will be mine and thereafter I will be king.” He smirked feeling content with himself, everything was coming together and he could already smell victory.

“Then you have to find your mate, and all will be as it should be.” Alpha London frowned thinking about the human mate he rejected, Sandra. “I will choose my mate, I will not wait years to find my fated mate, as king I will need a queen by my side, who better than an alpha’s daughter to be my queen?”

His beta, Shane did not agree with him in choosing a mate, but he could not argue or disagree with his alpha. “You mean alpha Frank’s daughter, Sammy?” questioned Shane and his alpha nodded in agreement. “Yes.” The alpha agreed.

“That is a good choice alpha.” London couldn’t agree more.

She is a she-wolf, strong and capable of being a Luna. Unlike that weak human the Moon Goddess paired him with, he wondered what she was thinking pairing him with such a weak mate. He is a strong and capable alpha. His mate should compliment him and that is what Sammy will do. She is of alpha blood and knows how packs work.

“Shane, go check on the rogues, I want them ready for the next attack, I want them to cause as much damage to the pack as they can. This is to be their last attack on that pack and I want them to make it count. I want them to attack in numbers. Train them if you have to just on the basics, I don’t want mistakes, the Crescent Moon Pack should be mine by the end of this week.” Shane bowed and left the office.

Packs were being absorbed every day, weaker ones by the strong ones, mostly the strong ones would attack the weaker one bringing it to it’s knees then absorb it. Other times an alpha would challenge another for the position and if they won, they would take over the pack. Shane had no problem with the technique his alpha was using to get the Crescent Moon pack but what he did not agree with is him choosing a mate.

Sammy has her mate out there somewhere, what will happen to him when he finds her, and she is mated to another? Shane believed mates are a sacred gift from the Moon Goddess and should not be taken for granted. That is one of the reasons London did not tell his beta about rejecting his mate. Another reason is that she is human and weak, according to him.

When Shane left, London took his phone and dialed his cousin. It wasn’t long before the call connected. “Cousin, good to hear from you.” London rolled his eyes, he did not care for his cousin, he was just using him to get what he wants. To be Alpha King. “How is everything going there?” Xander’s job besides killing the alpha king was to persuade and convince the other ministers that London was the best candidate for the position.

“I already have five out of the eight convinced and on our side, the other three are stubborn and righteous, it is going to be difficult to convince them.” the vote for the next alpha king must be unanimous and London knew that very well. Every alpha did, it is written in their laws. “You better work fast in convincing them, in fact, you have a week, by the end of the week when I absorb the Crescent Moon pack, they should have no reason to not vote for me,” London demanded.

“Not a problem, I think it will be easier to convince them when you have the Crescent Moon Pack, they will also see that you are the logical choice, besides having a huge pack, your businesses are doing well, you are well versed in our laws, and you have been upholding them for years. No one is more equipped for the position than you.” London liked the praises he was getting from his cousin, it boosted his ego and gave him an even bigger head than he already had.

“I hope you remind those fools of those facts every time you meet, my father already lost the position to that moron once, I will not lose it to that kid alpha.” Xander sighed on the other side. His uncle, London’s father who raised him lost the alpha king position, he never got over that and it was something he spoke of all the time, he would complain about how he was robbed of the position that was supposed to be his. This went on until the day he died.

He told his son when he took over as alpha of Sky Moon Pack that; he had to work hard and achieve all the things he could not achieve. Like expanding the pack and pack business. But most importantly, he must be the next alpha king. He told him to do whatever was necessary to get the position.

He told him their bloodline is not meant to bow to anyone, that they are meant to lead not follow. That for them, being alpha was not enough. He admitted to his son that he failed to gain the position and asked him not to be like him. He panel beated that into London’s head, making him believe he deserved to be the alpha king, that the position belonged in his family.

That is why he is now determined to gain it at all costs. He wanted to keep the promise he made to his father but most importantly he wanted power and the only way to get more power and be above all the werewolves was to become their king. When he is king, they will do his bidding and obey only him. Or so he thought.

“You do your part dear cousin, and I will do mine. I promised uncle I will not fail him, and I won’t.” Xander was also determined to keep his promise to his dead uncle. When he lost his parents at the age of thirteen and had nowhere to go. His uncle took him in and treated him like a son. He and London grew up together and have the same values and beliefs because they were raised by the same person.

One could say they were brainwashed making them think this is the only way they will be able to get the respect of others, having power and having everyone bow to them. Little did Xander know that London did not plan on sharing the power with him like they planned.
