While Brian worked, in another state, attending to some projects with the architect, Parker Edwards, his new partner, Sara managed to call him and speak to him. Although in the annex she had a telephone extension, she did not dare to use it since Carlos and Brian, they were friends for much long, she feared that he would recognize that number and she would end up betraying herself.

The blond's journey lasted longer than he expected, so for the next few weeks, the conversations were constant, fluid, and fun, which strengthened the friendship between them. Since he was an educated, hard-working, charismatic and chivalrous man, he had made Sara feel especially excited about what was happening to him, but at the same time, she was afraid of having hidden part of her life, she was afraid of being rejected, she was so scared that, to calm down, she lived concentrated on her work and her goals.

On the other hand, her boss had warned her so much about Brian that she was curious, she needed to know … Why such mistrust? But Carlos was also absent for several days, ‘solving some legal problems’, so Sara had not been able to ask him to clarify her doubts.

**«»**

Someone was insistently pressing the doorbell, at first he thought it was Sara, but when he saw the security cameras he realized who she really was and, although she was a beautiful and distinguished woman, Carlos did not want this visit completely, but he knew that it didn't matter trying to avoid him, she always had her way so he preferred to get down to business and avoid all the drama.

“I should ask, what are you doing here? But at this point, I'm surprised nothing of you.”

“You are not surprised dear, because you only miss, dream and long for my visit,” she replied in a sexy and insinuating way. Carlos remained silent, watching her with his typical indifferent face as if he were weighing the consequences of allowing that woman to enter his house.

“And so? Will you leave me waiting at the door all morning?”

In the end, he had no choice but to release the contained air and step aside to give her access.

“Wow! Until finally, did you deign to hire someone to bring order to this disaster … I don't think you're doing it yourself.” She spoke to him while inspecting the entire place.

“Say what you have to say, I don't have all day!”

“As always an excellent host!” She replied mockingly as she approached him, slowly and seductively. “Will we continue with what we have?”

“Why should we do it?” The woman smiled wickedly, as she brought her face closer to Carlos's and left soft kisses during her journey, when she reached his lips, she began to kiss him passionately, while one hand caressed the male chest and the other played with his hair.

“You better go, I have a lot of work and I already told you that I'm sick of your damn whims.” He opened the door for her to leave, but the blonde had no intention of changing her plans, she walked towards him as if she was really going to leave, but at the last minute, she threw down the small but expensive handbag she was holding in her hands and, without giving up, she caught Carlos's lips, kissing them with fury and excessive passion, leaving a clear example of her imposing presence.

At first, he was not convinced, he knew that if he let himself be carried away by her, he would pay it, and with interest. The woman began to remove the flannel from him, while kissing his neck, biting his shoulders, his chest, caressing his back … in seconds, lust and fever took over the moment, Carlos lifted her up, taking her by the waist and she crossed her legs around his hips, kissing him as he carried her to his room and to his bed. Without wasting time, in an instant, they were both naked, giving free rein to their desires.

Amid the pleasure and looking at one of the mirrors, Carlos realized that they were not alone, someone else was in the house. Concerned he tried to turn to see whose reflection it was, but his partner prevented him from moving by hugging him tightly, although it was not finally necessary because, from that same mirror, he soon realized that Sara was the person who was standing right at the entrance of the room.

When he managed to get rid of his companion and looked again for Sara's reflection, ready to face her, she was gone, creating serious doubts in Carlos who, from that moment, could no longer get her out of his mind. He did not expect something like this to happen, not in a million years, strangely, beyond losing concentration, this situation excited him even more … much more, so much so that almost automatically, his mind and body began to imagine that they were with her, with the chestnut and not with the blonde. Such was his wish that just at the culminating moment he couldn't help but mention her name.

Sara.

Although it was a soft and guttural whisper, Jazmin, that was the name of his current partner, she heard him perfectly, and of course, she did not like the situation, so she ended up violently pushing him away.

“Who the hell is Sara?!” He just stared at her with eyes as round as saucers, unable to understand what the hell had just happened. She, on the other hand, thought it was another one of his ‘sarcastic games’. “Couldn't you let it go? Is that your way of getting revenge on me? Right?”

She claimed him full of anger, at the same time that she got out of bed and dressed again. Carlos, for his part, continued to sit on the bed, scratching the back of his neck, puzzled, unable to understand what the hell had happened.

“Jazmin … Please wait!” When seeing the blonde as a gale throwing things in her path, Carlos tried to calm the situation a bit, since, although there was nothing left between them, it was not his intention to offend her, much less in the way in which, unconsciously, he had just done it. It was no use because she left, shouting insults and slamming all the doors that stood in her way.

In the past, Jazmin was one of the most important people in Carlos's life … they were married, he loved her and during their courtship everything was perfect, but after joining their lives, gradually the flame of love was extinguished.

When they started living together, he found a facet of her that was not what he expected, he realized that he had married a selfish and materialistic woman, who was obsessed with being ‘the soul of the party’, flirting and attracting everyone's attention … especially other men.

It was very disappointing and difficult for him to understand that he had been blinded by his love for her, that he had not known her well enough to marry, and that he had been carried away by appearances, by his loneliness and, finally, by his need for affection. Between them, there was only a mere link of a sexual nature. Carlos no longer had any feeling, although he generally ended up in bed with her, on the one hand, the product of his own emotional deficiencies and on the other, due to the masculine belief that: ‘In bed, a man should always respond’. A situation that Jazmin had manipulated very well, and that both obviously enjoyed.

Carlos did not understand what the hell Sara was doing in his house and much less understood his subsequent reaction, that is, he felt empathy for her in several aspects, but the sexual aspect was not one of them. Not understanding it did not prevent him from being furious, because of the interruption, for being at his home when she shouldn't, and especially, for snooping around in his private life.

**«»**

In the annex, Sara was still extremely nervous, with her agitated breathing and also very ashamed of what she had just witnessed, it was not her intention. During the whole previous night, she had not been able to fall asleep, she wanted to know why Carlos advised her to stay away from Brian, she had so many doubts, and for that reason, she had gone to his house to ask him … she never expected to find such a scene.

**«»**

A couple of hours and two whiskeys later … Carlos still upset, decided to confront her so he called her to the annex phone. “Sara, I need to talk to you. Come immediately.”

She fervently hoped he hadn't seen her. She was very cautious to leave, she didn't move anything, she didn't collide with anything, she didn't even make a small noise, so she calmed down and went to his home, hoping for the best.

When she arrived, she rang the bell and Carlos opened, he was just behind the door, while allowing her access. Once Sara entered, she realized that he was wearing a gentleman’s robe, but that it was not tied by his belt, but that it was open, exposing his strong, worked, and naked abdomen and his underwear. It was an involuntary reaction, looking away, while he spoke.

“Well, we have a lot to talk about.” He stopped in front of her when he realized that she avoided looking at him, without nothing shame he asked. “What's going on? Why don't you look at me? Haven't you ever seen a man in underwear?”

Sara tried to speak, but did not utter a half word, on the contrary, she choked on her own saliva, coughed several times to clear her throat, while this happened, she observed the anger contained in the eyes of her boss and began to get scared, to these heights, the topic of the conversation was very clear.

My God, Carlos knows I was here!

She thought as she sweated cold and the world at his feet began to crumble.

“Ah! I know … It's that you don't recognize me in underwear, you prefer to see me naked. Right Sara!?”

“No, I … I don't know what you're talking about.” She was so nervous that she couldn't utter a complete sentence without stuttering.

“So, you don’t know what I’m talking about?” He held her by the chin to make sure she looked him straight in the eyes. “What the hell were you doing in my house? Who the hell do you think to snoop around in my private life? And don’t you dare to lie to me!!”

“I swear, I wasn’t snooping around in your private life, I just came to ask you … I …”

Unable to articulate the correct phrases to explain the situation, she began to cry.

“Don’t swear anything! What happened? Did you get excited by what you saw?” He was so furious that he didn't give Sara a break to organize her thoughts and words. It was a very bad idea to face her in the midst of so much anger.

“Carlos, I didn’t mean to interrupt … I … I just wanted to ask you some things … I … I swear that my intention was never to snoop around in your private life.”

“Why do you enter my house like a criminal? Why did you look at us from the door?”

“The front door was open. I swear! I worried because normally you don't leave that door like that … That's why I came in and was looking for you, but then … then—”

“But then you saw me and instead of leaving, you preferred to stay and watch. Did you like what you saw?!”

“I swear I didn't do that!!”

“So, how the hell do you explain to me that you were standing right in front of my bedroom door?! Too much time for someone who didn’t want to interfere with other people's lives!!”

Sara could only lower her head, not because he was absolutely right … although, if he was right about some things, but because even she could not explain what happened, she simply stopped, not knowing what to do. As soon as she reacted, she ran away from there, but before that, for some time, she was just rigid as a statue, prey to nerves.

Carlos kept asking her questions and pressuring her, he was blinded by his anger, for him his privacy was sacred and, just when he trusted her and already regretted having done it, that bothered him even more, because it was not easy for him to trust other people.

Sara was still crying and he was still so angry that she decided to run away, and although he wanted to stop her, she simply left and did not return for the rest of the afternoon.

**«»**

It was almost time to open the Mon'tblank and Sara still did not appear, this had very worried Carlos, who went from being annoyed to have feelings of guilt since he felt that he had exceeded his claim and for that, she had fled in that way … although, as always, he continued to show himself as an indifferent rock to everything, he did not ask or comment on anything.

Sara returned 15 minutes after the opening of the bar, she was desolate and completely sure that Carlos would throw her out, she had returned just to look for her things and try, once again, to tell his what really happened, although, at that time, it would no longer be of any use. As soon as he saw her return, internally he calmed down because he knew that the chestnut was fine, but accepting her delay was not fair to the rest of the staff.

“Could you hear me, will it only be a minute, please?” She didn't have the courage to look him in the eyes as she twisted her fingers, victim of nerves.

“You’re arriving too late!”

“Please, Carlos I—”

“If you don't mind your job, renounce!” Better explained, impossible. She closed her eyes and breathed again, feeling relieved to realize that he had not fired her, but he did not even look at her while speaking, it was obvious that he was still very upset and, it was also obvious to her, that her stay there continued to ‘hang by a thread’.

“Today you will not work and it will be deducted from your salary. You can leave now.” He went to his office without giving Sara a chance to explain anything … after all, he had already given her a chance and she didn't take advantage of it.

**«»**

The next morning, she tried to talk to her boss again, but …

“I forbid you to enter my house, not even to clean. I don’t want you there anymore!”

It was very hard and sad, hearing him say those words. Sara assumed that, if she would never enter Carlos's house again, it was obvious that the agreement had been broken, it was no longer justified that she continue living in the annex. If he didn't trust her, it meant that she had lost the only person who had held out her hand, the only person who had given her a chance in that great city where she didn't know anyone else, not with the same closeness. It meant so many things, each worse than the others.

“So, it will be.” She replied, feeling immense sadness, avoiding crying in front of him. “I am only asking you for a couple of days to locate another place and vacate the annex, if there is no longer an agreement, then it is not justified that I remain there.”

“If that’s what you want.”

**«»**

That night at the Mon'tblank, the atmosphere was very murky. On the one hand, Carlos angry and on the other, Sara sad and totally gray, nothing to do with the charming and pleasant young woman and, of course, in the middle, all bar workers who had already started to make their own guesses about what had happened, as some had listened to them while they were arguing, sparking curiosity. Renata, for example, who just wanted to get closer to get first-hand details on the matter.

“Hello Sara, were you sick?”

“Hi. No,” she replied curtly and continued, not wanting to speak to anyone, she already was doing a lot of effort to feign joy in front of the bar customers.

“Oh, since you didn't come to work yesterday and you look so discouraged today, I thought something serious was happening to you.”

“No, everything is perfect. I was just on leave,” she said to end the interrogation. Renata knew that Carlos did not tolerate lateness or absences at work, and the permits, at that time, were quite scarce, so something strange was happening.

The blue-eyed was so irritable that any detail was cause for scolding and calls for attention. It was a long and heavy weekend in the Mon'tblank, in which each worker concentrated on his work, nobody wanted to be ‘the lucky one’ who will win the boss's bad mood.

**«»**

Brian, who had returned from his trip, was at the bar with his group of friends, but Sara was still so sad about what happened that she hardly had the disposition for a cold and brief greeting. Although the blond was never calm when he had a doubt, he always looked for answers.

“Sara, what have you got? What happens?”

“Nothing happens … I just have a lot of work.”

“Are you sure?”

“Yes … Sorry, but I must go.”

“Okay, I don't want to disturb you. Call me, I need to talk … Please.” She nodded and everyone continued their affairs.
