There was an amazed expression on Cole’s face. His green eyes stared at me with so much shock. Chestnut hair still the same. But I couldn’t just miss the look on his face.
“H-How’s this possible?” he asked me, even stuttering a bit.
“Like you said, the other day, believe in the impossible.” I let out, reminding him of his words.
“Logically… I know. It’s just that I know Asher Gilbert. I’ve seen the kind of rocky relationship that airs between you two. What I don’t understand how this even happened…” he trailed out.
His chin looked clenched and his hands were fisted into balls. With a corner of my eye, I watched his movement that minute. My brows arched at him.
I mean, was this something that deserved this much of anger from him?
We exited the corridors of the school that second.
Cole then did the usual. He got into the car his parents gave him as a birthday gift, so did I.
I threw my backpack into the back seat so did he too. He geared the car to a start, with it rumbling and making so much noise.
This car could be the reason why we were taught about noise pollution. It was a high definition of this in fact.
The piece was a really old car, which fumed a lot of smoke. Sometimes, I made fun of him, calling it The-Crooked-Car. This was because it had lots of damage each week.
Most of the times, Cole worked on his car, trying to fix it. As a big thinker and fixer, that didn’t mean I didn’t make a mock of the old piece.
But I certainly going to do that now, because he seemed a little pissed at what I just told him.
As he zoomed off, some curls of smoke were in the air. I looked at him sternly, shaking a little in my seat. I didn’t even know when we both started laughing furiously. Cole swerved the vehicle to the wrong turn and I instantly shouted,
“Cole! Cole! Look out!”
He dodged the oncoming vehicle he almost hit that instant. He had a hard time bringing the car into control and when he did do it, the first thing I said was,
“You’re really going to get us killed one of the these days.”
“That’s never happening, Phoe. You know you love me!” he exclaimed playfully. I giggled so much, laughing uncontrollably.
And we both did.
All of a sudden, there was an instant silence that overrode the moment. No one said anything at all.
Knowing it was awkward, I decided to say something. Just as I thought of it, he decided to talk first.
“About Asher…” he started off.
I looked at him consciously that minute. His gaze was all focused on the road, but I knew something was up with him.
“What about him?” With a slight grin, I asked him. For an instant, he didn’t say anything. I tapped my fingers on the window pane, awaiting him to say something.
“Well...are you gonna ever talk?”
“And are you ever gonna stop chasing the college’s bad boy, because there’s no point?”
That got through me.
I batted my lashes, closing my eyes to take in what he had just said.
“W-What did you just say?”
That wasn’t just a question.
It was like a sort of test.
I wanted to check if he had the balls to say everything he had just said again.
“I only asked you to try to convince him about karaoke, Phoe, not sleep with him!” he exclaimed.
“Wait a minute... do you think I didn’t try? Stop yelling at me like this is all my fault!” I answered him back, yelling too.
“Off course it is. You just made yourself his little slut because of a little unserious crush you had for him!” he let out hurtfully.
I became silent that instant, flinching a little. My hands moved to the back seat to grab my backpack immediately.
“Stop the car.” I let out. He ignored me and continued driving.
“Stop the car, Cole Fredrick!!” I shouted this time. He knew I was serious and brought the car to a halt that second.
“Look... I didn’t mean to do any of what happened last night. In fact, I’m still trying to adapt to the fact that I just lost my virginity to the college’s snobber.” I constructed.
My hands moved opening the door of his car. Before going out, I said,
“Call me when you’re done being an asshole.”
I slammed the door and began walking away angrily.
Screw this bestie thing!
¶¶¶
Cole Fredrick
No, no, no.
This wasn’t how I wanted things to turn out to be.
“Damn!” I let out, hitting my car numerous times. I certainly didn’t mean to talk to Phoebe in that way.
The only thing was. Phoebe was like a sister to me. She was the sister I never had. And I didn’t ever want to see her hurt.
If she was ever hurt, then I’d be hurt too. That was why I reacted that way. I hope she did understand.
I would definitely try to fix everything tomorrow.
Phoebe’s POV
I stomped my legs on the road in a furious pace. My hands were clenched and I didn’t even know where I was heading too.
All I was thinking of right now was Cole being too much of an asshole I could handle.
What was wrong with him?
Really?
“Calling me a little slut because I got in bed with the college’s bad boy?” I let out, soliloquizing.
He'd better not mean that!
I looked around me. I was in the midst of tall trees and bushes. The road was really silent and something about it gave me a really eerie feeling.
I was immediately self-conscious that minute. I continued heading north, hoping to reach the bus stop on time, but it was all to no avail.
In the past, I used my bicycle to show up at school. This was because my school was a little down town from my house. But things happened and Cole volunteered to carry us both with his car.
Thus, I stopped bringing my bicycle. If only I had known things would take a turn today.
“Urrgh!” I gritted out. I just hoped my shoes didn’t become worn-out again. Whitney always looked for something on my appearance to bully me about.
I stopped in my tracks the minute I heard a low key snarl. I looked back, then side, then back again, but there was nothing. I continued my steps only to hear a more prominent growl this time.
My gaze directed forward that minute. I narrowed my eyes at it, unsure. From distance, it looked like a dog. A black gigantic dog. As it came closer, I realized.
Fuck shit!
This was no dog? It was a wolf. A big black wolf. And it was approaching me!
Run.
My sub-conscious told me.
My feet turned anti-clockwise that second. Lots of adrenaline kicked in, and I begun running so intensely. Breathing with so much panic, I kicked my legs on the floor, with so much breeze wheezing through my raven hair.
As I did run, I looked back from time to time. The wolf seemed to be gaining some distance. In fact, I was about telling myself to give up.
That it was no use.
Maybe this was how I would die?
I heard another rumbling sound too. I wondered what was that.
Did the wolf call his whole pack on me?
Perhaps I would be a delightful dinner for them tonight. And…and…oh my goodness...
I realized that it wasn’t the families with it but a bike.
Someone pulled up bike, halting it directly in front of me. My knees instantly became weak from nervousness. I watched as the rider, opened a part of his black helmet.
“Get in.”

A/n I’m really sorry this took so long. I’m usually not this much of a lazy Writer. I just have upcoming exams that’s why.
I hope you leave a review on this chapter!
Thinking things through with all that adrenaline rush, was something practically impossible. It was like my body did it’s freewill this very minute. But I didn’t blame it.If anything, we were in grave danger. And, there was no hell of a way I was calming down, until the impending danger was gotten rid of.As I got on Asher’s bike, there was one thing on my mind. It was a thought that I hoped he was really fast that we lost the wolf behind us! Thinking of something else? Off course it was just that.“Hold on still.” he ordered. If I didn’t listen well, I definitely would have had a hard time hearing. But I did listen well. Danger definitely could arouse many of one’s senses.Occasionally, I looked back to check on the black wolf. Through the corner of my eyes, I could see it approaching us. When it bared its teeth covered in saliva at us, I closed my eyes shut immediately. I also hoped Asher w
“That meant nothing to me. I’d forget it if I were you,”Those were the words I woke up to the next day. No matter how much I tried, they won’t leave. Even though, I wanted it too.I stood up angrily from my bed, stomping my feet to the bathroom. Breathing out puffs of air, I took my tooth brush and begun making annoyed paces, as I brushed my teeth.Flashbacks of him suddenly appeared into my head again. Thus, I grunted out, staring at the bathroom mirror with so much fury, growing in me.“Who do you think you are, Asher Gilbert?!” I asked to no one in particular.“Treating me like a piece of trash after the sensual night we had...” I trailed out.“Is that what it all meant to you, really?” I choked out, this time becoming so much sober. I didn’t even realize when my eyes became teary. Mum said I’ve always been so dramatic. Maybe this was what she did mean.
I held the piece of paper in my hand, while looking at Cole shockingly. I couldn’t believe that he just suggested that we ask Whitney’s sister to perform.I mean, of all things, why would he bring this up?“Wait really?” I asked him, with a shrunken nose.“Yup,” he answered. My brows cringed immediately. I wasn’t sure why he was doing this but I knew I would soon find out.“Are you being serious, right now?” I asked again.“Yeah, sure. It certainly would be better like that. Think about who won’t want to show up at our karaoke, after learning that she’d be performing?” he uttered, swaying his index fingers, like he had just won a jackpot.“It’s just like a ticket, to every student here,”I knew he had a point. The only thing was that his approach to things were a little outlandish at times. There was no soul in s
Cole had come to my aid by giving me Lilith’s scarf. She was his step sister but they went along pretty well. Lilith didn’t mind because it had been buried in her locker at school for a long while and she had no use for it.Thus, she agreed to lend me.I used it to protect my hair for the rest of the lectures, before school hours were over. Whitney gave me a mischievous look, as lectures went by. I ignored her facial expressions, not wanting to sign up for another trouble.Cole drove us in his old rickety car, dropping me off.The moment I got home, I noticed nobody was home, which I was a bit thankful for. I didn’t want them asking me any questions about my hair. I hastily went to my room, throwing my backpack on the bed.I grabbed a bottle of my shampoo, and commenced the washing of my hair. I scrubbed and scrubbed it, emptying about half of the content on my hair.I checked the bathroom mirror to see my pro
Something about the frat party tonight made me happy. Honestly, I didn’t know why I was so excited. Maybe this had to do with the fact that this was my first frat party. Either way, I wanted it to go well. This was why I had gone to Galaxy’s closet for something fancy. I had gotten a red skimpy gown with a sweetheart neckline. Once again, I took YouTube tutorials for my makeup. Had no absolute idea of how to do that, without any help.I also removed the bun from my red hair Whitney preyed upon, letting it fall. As l combed the dyed hair, my mind wandered to numerous things. What if I looked weird tonight? With my red hair, hopefully this turned out to be right.“Breathe in, Phoebe. You’re going to be fine,” I told myself, as I highlighted the stairs, in a silver high heels I had brought from the confines of my little closet. As I threaded the stairs, I could hear some low-key chattering from down s
The instant I opened my eyes, the first thing I laid my eyes on, were vintage walls. The whole place was designed with dull colours. Despite that, it was still stunning. Writhing my brows, I wondered where I was. With eyes searching around the room, I slowly scanned the room. There was a shelf and a mini bar, directly ahead of me.Just as I stood up, a throbbing pain hit my forehead.Slowly, last night’s events imprinted on my brain. I immediately gasped at the whole lot of things I had done.“Oh no,” I muttered, with a cringy voice. Rubbing my forehead at the headache that occupied me, I stood up slowly. I sighted my bare legs, re-tracing it all the way to my knee.I was clothed in a saggy shirt that wasn’t even mine. My hands clenched around my chest in protectiveness. What was happening here?Whose clothes was I putting on and, where the heck was I?Just like a response to my question, a door s
As I walked around the frat house, I crossed over empty red plastic cups. There were numerous shattered bottles everywhere. Creeping around some corners too, were lots of empty bottles rolling out. The whole place was disarranged.Only a few volunteers were trying to organize the place. It was obvious that they were probably part of the frat team. My legs desperately looked for the exit, with an intent to get out of here. I hissed at the cat whistles from the upper part of the house.“Boys would be boys,” I snickered out, rolling my eyes. A hand suddenly encamped around my shoulders. I looked behind, shaking abruptly, with a fright.“Hey, Phoebe” The voice called out. I narrowed my eyes at who it was. He looked somewhat familiar. I couldn’t help but become quite inquisitive at the moment.“Yeah…hey,” I muttered, in an unsure tone.“Are you perhaps lost? You’ve been lurking a
Surprises.Life for me just had to be always filled with them.I was an early bloomer. Thus, I didn’t even know what happened when a blood dripped from my chair, in the middle of class. Not until I heard the mocking laughter of the boys in class. It all made me feel so ashamed. In fact, I wished the ground would open up and swallow me, that second.I mean, nobody even told me about that. It just happened out of the blue, without any form of warning. That was a surprise.Something that was uncalled for.Mum and dad just did this. And, I hated that they did.“How is he my brother?” I asked them, with a shaky voice. Guilt was written on both of their faces. My mind lingered to the reason they hadn’t told me of all this.Didn’t they think I deserved to know?“I-I thought I was the only child,” I choked out, with my eyes searching theirs. I desperately look
She must have already had it all figured out. I kissed her. I was so in love with her. "It's perfect. You're perfect and I love you, Phoebe. My own personal Maserati.” I said, kissing her again. "I love you too, Asher." she said smiling at me. “I’m not yours, though.” I smirked. “Maybe… but she’s mine. My personal Jaguar.” She laughed at my words, to our new born. I had just given her a nickname to a car, within minutes of holding her. Couldn’t wait to be a father to her. So pretty… so soft. .... ~Three years later~ Phoebe's POV I stand in front of the mirror as I stare at the stunning knee length grey dress I was putting on for my matriculation. I finally did get into NYU and I was gonna be majoring in English literature. A year ago, Asher had graduated with a degree in Entrepreneurship and project management from the West Carolina University. In all, we had all moved over to New York so that I could pursue my degree in the university of my dream; New York University. Av
Asher's POVOnce again going by the way I knew him, I knew his mind was already made up.He was going to make me think he was going to let Phoebe go, then he was going to kill her after I had agreed to do his job, and then kill me when I was done.Because Miller left no trails behind whatsoever to any crimes he committed. He was a well known drug lord. Feared and revered by many.Had many connections even with the cops and so for them to continue to keep him fucking clean, he didn't need any tags.Which was why I came with a plan. "No," I said. "How is it going to be like Miller? I always take the upper hand."Miller and Jacob stare at me and then I yell."NOW!"A bullet flies straight into Miller's forehead and his shocked body stood for three seconds, before slumping to the floor and everything happens fucking fast. I lung after Jacob and engaged him in a combat."I'm going to get Phoebe!"Diego said as he leaves his hiding place holding a shot gun in his hand.Jacob was mine. The
Phoebe's POVI stirred and felt a sharp pain on my tummy.Ouch! That hurt.I look around me and realized that I'm in a strange room. The only things in the room were a bunch of wrapped ropes at the corner and a spade.I felt pressed.Where was I?I looked around. Flashes of the last things that happened before I blacked out resurfaced and played in my mind's eye.Shit. My eyes started welling in tears.Asher was right all along. Jacob indeed was dangerous. I searched around me but couldn't find my phone. They had taken it. Even my baggage was no where in sight. What am I gonna do? I asked myself as I looked around the room. I really needed to pee and the strange pain in my tummy was getting intense. Why was my stomach hurting?I managed to get up from the floor I had been lying on and get to the door. I tried the handle and found out that it was locked so I hit the door hard with my palm. The door clicked and a muscular bald headed huge white guy that wore military pants came in."W
Phoebe’s POV It was 10:46pm and Asher hadn't returned nor called me or even texted. Cole had texted that they had gotten to their hotel room about two hours ago and had asked if I wanted anything which I had declined. The more I waited the more I kept imagining what Asher was doing with that girl. Coraline or Cordelia whatever her name was. I was startled by the sound of opening and closing of our hotel door. It was Asher. He stood looking at me for some minutes. I kept silent. "What you did was immature Phoebe." he seethed. "That was a low blow." Who the fuck was he telling that? "Now you're talking to me about immaturity and low blows?" I asked him. "You weren't supposed to insult her like that and shit." I laughed unbelievably. "Whew!” I let out. “I can't believe you're saying this to me." I said. "There was absolutely nothing to get angry over." Asher went on and I just kept watching him like I was seeing him for the first time. "So I was gonna sit there and watch
Phoebe’s POV "Hangout for what exactly?" I asked him looking at him. "You know," Dave said, "Have drinks, play games, have lots of fun." He exaggerated the fun. At that, I could see that red light blare in my head. No one had to tell me that. "Define fun in your language." Roxanne said. "Like getting to know each other..." He trailed opening his arms. That infuriated me. "I'm fucking pregnant!" I said loudly. A few heads turned. "Uh-oh." Roxanne said. "Wasn't that hint enough?" I asked as he looked at me startled. "I have a boyfriend and so does she." I said to them. "Alright, alright." Dave said as they both retreated still facing us and raising their hands plicately. Good. Did I overreact? Then they turned and left. I looked at my friend and there was this… Roxanne burst into a serious feat of laughter and I'm forced to join her as I couldn't help myself. Yeah, that was it… "Did you see the look on their faces when you yelled?" she asked still cracking up. "I kno
Asher’s POV"Woo-hoo!" Cole yelled as we exited the airport hours later in San Juan. "Let's get this party started." he said and Phoebe and Roxanne laugh. I smile, shaking my head.We all boarded a taxi that took us to the hotel we were gonna be staying at for the vacation.Phoebe, Cole and Cole's girl, Roxanne kept chattering on and on about the places they'd like to visit while here on vacation and all that. They looked eager and please to be here, especially Phoebe. She needed the break. I was eager too. This was going to serve as some form of relaxation and get together for both of us and I was glad we took it.We arrive at the hotel and I'm amused at how they're all amazed at the place. Cole's a pussy by the way. "Hi, I'm here to book a double suite." I say to the receptionist as we entered luggages in hands and stuff."Alright, let me check if there are any reservations." she said, while clicking away at her keyboard. "I'm sorry, there aren't any double suites left. They're all
Phoebe's POV"Everything all set?" Asher asked me as he entered our bedroom."Yep." I said as I finished zipping up our mini luggage.I was wearing big grey denim jeans with one of Asher's big sky blue tees. My long hair was packed in a ponytail and I put my sunglasses on my head. Asher wore dark skinny jeans and a plain black tee shirt with booths. We were both ready for the vacation.I had packed a few clothes and most of our toiletries alongside a few other stuffs. We were going to be meeting Cole and Roxanne at the airport to San Juan island. We all decided that that'd be a perfect place to visit and stay for our vacation."Passports and stuff all ready."I said to Asher coming out and stuffing our passports and few documents into my hand bag. Asher took the luggages to the trunk of the Uber we had ordered. We figured it'll be better we ordered a ride to take us to the airport rather than leaving our car at the airport. We boarded the car and drove off after I had ensured that we
"Hey." he whispered, when he got to us. "Hi." I said, continuing to smile as he kissed me softly on the lips. "So this is where you've been all day?" I asked him beaming. He shrugged and looked me over. "This dress suits you perfectly." He said admiring it as his fingers swirled the loose strands of my hair playfully. I laughed at twirled sweetly for him to get a better look of the dress and his smile broadened. "So, tell me why you made 'post prom'. And how much money you have to make you organize this.” I told him as he grabbed a drink for us from a passing waiter who had a tray filled with drinks. "We didn't get to attend prom and I saw you needed it so bad," he shrugged as we both stared at the party in front of us. "So I had to do it to make you feel better." "But you said it wasn't important." I laughed grateful he did it anyway. "I did, that didn't make that true." He said smiling at me playfully as he took a large drink of his drink. "Now can you quit your questions an
Phoebe's POVIt's mid February and today Cole called me.Last night was prom and he said it was exquisite. The decorations were top notch and he got to dance at prom with Roxanne. Cole had told me that Whitney had won prom queen. I had rolled my eyes at that. Like she had any competition. He said some other dude won prom king. While Cole and I spoke, I had my legs in a bucket of ice.My feet were getting swollen a lot these days.Asher usually massaged them for me but he wasn't home now. He'd been out since morning. And I couldn't go to work today because I wasn't feeling so strong and Veronica had agreed that I could stay at home for today. My pregnancy leave was beginning this weekend and she and Mia had assured me that they'd both take care of things till I returned. It's kind of funny how they both made me a part of their small family.Mia was like the sister I never had and Veronica made me feel safe. Like I had two mums.Speaking of mums.My mum and I have been speaking too. She
