She could not believe her eyes at what she saw or, rather, whom. It was the person that had been

speaking to Sebastian in the previous blurry vision she had.

Her brother, whom she thought was lost, seemed alive and well. Unless Sebastian was dead and the underworld was similar to the human world, she must acknowledge that she was seeing Caelum. But that would seem impossible as Sebastian did not know her brother, nor did she know he was alive.

Mara was beginning to question if this was one of the numerous schemes by Grimshaw to get her confused and work for him.

If so, how did he protect her thoughts and make her see such things as when he did not even know she had a brother?

For all he cared about, her entire family was dead and gone away totally to the underworld.

She was the last of whatever was left of them and therefore was the only one carrying on the name of her family. Mara was still excited and pondering what she was seeing and finding it difficult to concentrate on the s

She noticed their movements the moment she was intercepted. The guards watching her were on the verge of drawing out their swords. Mara had never been more disappointed. She pitied the boy as somehow she could understand what he was feeling and why he was acting the way he had been. It was obviously because he lacked his father’s attention which Grimshaw did not seem ready to give ever. He did not consider him his son, as how on earth would mere guards draw their swords at the boy? Mara felt his pain for the boy more than he ever could imagine. If only he could see clearly that she was not the enemy. She was not even interested in marrying his father. So she looked behind her and nodded that she was alright. He had, of course, not missed that bit and reacted severely toward her. “Oh, I see; you now have control of the guards, stepmom.” He said “Stop calling me that,” Mara said carefully “And if I don’t?” he asked her. Mara had nothing more to say. Perhaps he was just an ass l

He bore a part of his mother within him that was influencing him greatly to the extent that he would feel the need to follow her. She did not want to assume that she was good, though, but there was nothing so wrong in a little assuming.Zyair Alexander Grimshaw junior might have a better future ahead of him. They continued walking together in silence without saying anything to each other as they made for the castle. They had just gotten close when he stopped her.“When would you tell me what I need to know?” he asked her“Inside. Let me pour you a drink.” She said“Oh, I see; you’re going to seduce me as you seduced my father?” she asked him.“I did not…” she began.“Oh, not to worry, I get it, okay? But this is my limit. Unless I go the other way, this part leads to your chambers.” He said“And? She asked“Off limits to me. I would be killed on sight. Your husband’s orders.” He said.Mara was angry again. Would he ever learn, she wondered?“He’s not my… never mind. You would never un

The both of them were startled and looked at each other weirdly.Neither had expected Grimshaw to come in there so soon nor his always grumpy mood to worsen. The way he glared at his son and then at Mara, one would think he had caught them in the middle of an act.Grimshaw sure was something with his unnecessary tantrums and his behavior. Mara wanted to scream at him and remind him, for crying out loud, that Zyair was his son and deserved his love, but two things stopped her.The most of which was that the action would only score her extra hatred from the boy she was only beginning to get used to. She had seen just how much he detested all forms of embarrassment or pity. From what she had seen, Zyair had no need for self-pity.He had learned to shove that aside by building what would seem like a wall around his sadness so he could no longer feel a thing about it. He smiled and then put up his hand in surrender, to which Mara did not understand why he was so. After all, they were only

It had not been easy on them these days, fencing Blackwell and watching the barrier get lifted. It had been four days of continuous work and no rest, as they knew their mission.Sebastian could not help but notice how fast it was getting to the day he was supposed to meet with her brother. He had to get ready. He also needed to get his men ready, but here he was, getting his hands dirty and creating fencing when he should be readying his swords. He had to hurry up as the time was soon. He would occasionally look at what they had achieved so far and smile as it was great progress that they were making, and great progress, too, was beginning to be done hastily.Sebastian had lost count of the number of trees that had fallen for this cause and how many more might fall. He was now getting more worried these days and had developed some anxiety. However, everyone was willing to help, and no one was slacking behind or dropping off at his responsibility. They all wanted the best for Blackwell

Sebastian now saw his brother remaining calm and waiting for him to explain precisely what he was doing.Perhaps it was time he started taking him through the entire process of what he was doing with these maps. He asked after his mate and how she was doing with the pregnancy, and Silas smiled.“You worry so much about her as though you are the father of this child.” Silas teased“It’s not every day that a nearly extinct lycan pack gets an additional family member now, brother,” Sebastian said, and Silas laughed.“Now I’m becoming more suspicious. I would tell this to Mara once she’s back.” He said. When he said that, Sebastian suddenly paused at what he was doing. He had an apprehensive look, and his forehead showed that fully well. Silas thought he had said something wrong and was asking him what the problem was, but Sebastian looked on at the space for a brief moment.Mara, he had never wanted to admit his fears, but now he had to say it in his safe space.“What if we are too late

It was tough at this point because time was not being friends with them. They had no one on their side or anyone to speak to about things that had happened. It was all up to Caelum, Abby, and Rowan to find a way around the fact that his sister would need their help.Abby had initially suggested that they go straight to Helsinger. Perhaps he would hear them out when they could prove to him that not all the werewolves were baddies and that a human also needed their help, but vehemently, Caelum had refused. His fears were for both his life and Mara’s.Also, he did not want to seem like a snitch and betrayer to the lycan that had spoken to him. Abby had decided to keep quiet for a while after Rowan had to plead, as the latter did not want to die. She stated that they had better find a way around it all, or she would go about it her way.Caelum and Rowan had agreed back then, but until now, there had been no progress as neither of the duo had reached an agreement. Caelum became worried, es

No one left the table, and when all was done eating, it was time for wine. Everyone had his cup full as Helsinger stood up, saying he had an announcement to make that would please everyone, especially his niece Abby. That got her attention. It was only Rowan that did not seem interested as he already knew what was going to happen and be announced. His only worry was what would happen after that. That was something he had not been privileged enough to see.Well, mentioning her name had suddenly excited her to hear what her dear uncle had that would make her happy. Abby gave her full ears to everything that was about to happen. Helsinger took his cup of wine and stepped around to stand at their table. He looked around, beaming, and then began to appreciate everyone who had supported them since he lost his brother. He enjoyed how they had been dedicated to eradicating the abominations called werewolves. He specially thanked Caelum for being such an exciting addition to the family of hunt

If he could say anything about what had just happened, Rowan would exclaim how surprised he alsowas. In all the times he had been drawn by the spirits, never had they mentioned anything like this, nor did he recall anything transpiring between them. It was just a feeling he had that perhaps Caelum was one of those special kinds of persons and gifted, but nothing related to the gods had happened. This night, one moment, he had just been there with Caelum, practically waiting on Abby to resurface and perhaps also on the tops with eavesdropping; the next moment, he saw Caelum walking inside in a frenzy. He had to stop him one way or the other, so he followed him. He could not let him go anymore further without getting them in trouble. When Abby had mentioned being pregnant, Rowan had no idea how because usually he foresaw every pregnancy in the place but saw nothing about Abby’s. He also had asked Caelum in a whisper, but the latter had heard nothing. A lot was happening that night, and

She had returned back to her human for, bare and all. The minute she opened her eyes, two things happen simultaneously. Grimshaw pulled a dagger andthen held it close to her stomach area just as she saw Sebastian in the action of trying to make it over. “Now you stop there boy or I would be sending her and your baby to hell.” He said “Baby?” Sebastian asked caught dead in his tracks Yes baby. He pulled her along quickly taking the shorter route to the stone altar he already had in preparation fortheir rites. The wizard was there and Grimshaw had never been more excited over his plans ahead andof time of making the wizard key into all his plans with Alexa the late sorceress. The breach of his wallshad seriously extended to where they were and it was only a matter of time before they get closer andget to him. But not for long, he was going to make certain he beats them to it. He had some of his menstand guard around the place as he pulled Mara along. She has been unnecessarily frustrating since he took her to see Zyair and abruptly refused eating until hefrees the boy. Grimshaw also knew within that the knowledge that her own mother had put him onpermanent protection was something way more challenging for her. He felt really proud but morehappy about the fact that her powers were actually awakening. It was a go go for him actually as he hadbeen waiting patiently to be able to harness her powers. But since what happened with his men theother day, Grimshaw suspected that something was off with her and her powers. The sorceress hadAlexa had said that it was a force field of death that she wielded based on what Mara had told her buthe could point out loopholes around those words. He knew he had to revisit that issue himself and seefor himself to make certain that her powers were what they seemed. He had asked that his men looksaround and finds the sorceress text but it would turn out that it had disappeared miraculously.Grim

They had been trying hard at keeping their ranks for sometime now as they had been really busy with the enemies. It was really tough as Sebastian had not been to war in a long but luckily for him, he had the experience and the true qualities of a leader. More and more had been falling into his ranks and aligning with his troops as everyone seemed to be calling for an end to Grimshaw’s reign. There were leaders around him both young ones and older ones to advise him and brush up his strategies. They were not so much but they were doing really well at holding out on the enemies. They fact that theywere short numbered was a cause for alarm as this was war and not a fairytale. It would only be a couple of moments and then the enemies would see through the hidden loopholes in their formation and then it would be their turn to start suffering the ills of war. That was just what Sebastian had been fighting tooth and nail to avoid. He could not loose this war. Not with the glimmer of hope h

Three days since he sent out his men, he still was not getting any responses from the battlefield. He last heard that they were engaging each other already at a place not so far from his castle, and now he heard nothing more. Grimshaw had sent three ravens out already. Two to the light claw pack and one to his general out at the war front, but neither had responded. The panic of not knowing was killing him; all he wanted now was reassurance from the general that his men were doing well, followed by a backup from the light claw pack.Apparently, it would seem like the old pack wanted nothing to do with or assist him. Grimshaw was not short of surprises as he knew well enough that all this had everything and more to do with the distraction he had received the other night of the banquet. The heavens knew what his son and Mara had voiced to the alpha. He had been told that they met with the man away from the banquet table, and although they tried to make it seem like a tour of the sorts o

“You should stop pressurizing him about these things, Max. It is not his problem.” Artemia said to her brother.“So you think,” Maxwell said.“So I know.” She said to him, firing up.Maxwell had been at the top of his beefing with his father again; this time, he was not buying his cowardice. He could not understand why the old man was acting the way he had been, even after the young woman had affirmed that she was being married against her will to this old wolf that seemed tohave been brewing all the troubles in the entire werewolf history.Maxwell had never liked Grimshaw, not even as a child, and many times when his father would meet secretly with this man; he always felt uncomfortable about it all. His father had not sent troops to help when the first war had happened, and as a child, he had not understood the reason why but this time, he was already beginning to think about it having relations with Grimshaw. All these years, they had been living in the wild and away from everyone

"Well, good morning to you, my hubby dad," Mara said as she entered the dining room, smiling ear to earwith so much amusement, especially at his face. Someone else was seated a little too early on the table, and he snorted laughter that had him choking on the drumstick he was biting down on."That serves you right, boy, for not waiting," Grimshaw growled as he observed Mara come to sit at her place."Are you alright?" she asked Zyair, who just drank from his cup and nodded. Mara then turned to Grimshaw, who was glaring at her. There certainly was a part of him that wished she had nothing to offer him so he could snap her neck, but he could not now, could he? He needed her alive so his plans could mature into reality. Grimshaw then furrowed his brow even more profoundly as he glared."You know, girl, I would rather the other bit of our relationship be kept secret." He glared at her"I do not understand. "Are you sure you want to do this and trust those treacherous humans again as our ancestors once did, brother?" Silas asked him for the third time, but this was at the boundary of Blackwell. The past few days, or dare we assume the week, have been the most hectic as they had been up and busy with the re-establishment of Blackwell, and there have been a lot of changes. Successfully a few daysafter the barrier had fallen, they had completed the sealing around Blackwell entirely. It was far more than what little Sebastian had thought they would achieve. It would seem the hands of fate had played them with way better plans than they had ever dreamt of as it was walled a little higher. Even more exciting was the line of persons, wolves in particular, that lined outside the new gates of Blackwell to surrender themselves to the new dawn and hope which was in the person of Sebastian. A lot had been happening these few days, but also enough to remind them that there was no longer time for so

Mara stood there as the maids attended to her with sadness in her eyes. She could not believe that this was happening despite the discovery. She looked grim as they put the gown on her, as she stared back at the mirror. Here has a damsel in distress that perhaps her powers alone would not save her from her impending fate. After the last altercation with Grimshaw, he had come to her room afterward and spoken to her.Mara then went to bed and did receive a confirmation of the fact that Grimshaw was her father. In fact, from what she had seen, he had known from the moment of her turning and yet had decided to keep it safely away from her while she wallowed in his desperation to marry her. He had come and put her in the tightest of corners when he warned her of the fate of Sebastian. He had sent a spread of words about her, and he also had more news. Two days ago, he learned that Blackwell castle had been again found. The barrier had already been lifted.Hence he could easily make an atta
