Chapter Forty-Nine

The details of her dress were easier to spot the closer she came. I knew her cleavage was perfect in the dress from the photo, but this view didn’t do it justice. Her hair was curled and flowing down her shoulders the way that drove me crazy, her makeup darker around her eyes than normal. She was exotic, a sexy glow to her skin even though it was near the end of the winter season. 

I took a sharp breath in anticipation, then finally it happened, she saw me. Her steps were smooth, as if she were gliding toward me, her eyes raking me in from head to toe until we locked gazes. I kept my mouth shut, wanting her to be the first to talk.

“What are you doing here?” She said slowly, a bite forming at the beginning of her sentence, but faded into curiosity.

I shrugged. “Enjoying the festivities.”
