Chapter Forty-Five

Florance began talking on the microphone, introducing the evening activities and information about the fundraiser for Irish families and students. I was half listening, weaving my way through people as discreetly as possible until I found Cody.

“Where have you been?” 

“Thanking the guy who got us into the party. He’s one of Gary’s friends. Have you seen them?”

He frowned. “No, but I haven’t been looking, either. I’m too hungry to focus on anything.”

I kept myself from rolling my eyes at him. “Maybe they’re not coming for dinner.”

“Maybe they realized this would be boring and bailed.”

Now I was frowning. If I didn’t see her here, finding her whereabouts would be next to impossible.
