“What was that all about?” I asked Mack once the elevator door closed with Portia behind it. Mack was squeezing me to his side, then shifted so he was hugging me straight on, his head dipping into my shoulder.

“It was weird,” he sighed. 

I ran my hands along his back, doing my best to comfort him while he held onto me tightly. “Do you want to talk about it?”

Letting out a heavy breath, he lifted his head. “No, but I need to.”

I cupped his strained jaw, unsure what to do or say to help with his emotions.

“Portia basically told me my parents, her, and Gary, were swingers and were all in love with each other.”

My eyes widened from his confession. 

Sucking in both his lips, he nodded. “Yep, something you never want to know about your parents.”
