Sitting at my desk, I immediately worried that I’d gone too far with Kelsey just now. She was grinning and happy, but the kiss on the cheek in front of Ms. Carmichael might have been too much. I couldn’t help it, touching her and kissing her was becoming an instinct, and it just happened. Surely she’d give me the cold shoulder if she were unhappy with my display of affection.

I tossed the thumb drive on my desk. Was she looking for a reason to see me, and that’s why she brought it down? It was an odd way of flirting, but I loved her sense of humor. 

The next hour, I kept to the project I had been working on, but kept getting distracted, worried Kelsey was upset. Unable to stop myself, I grabbed my phone and sent her a message. I settled for a straightforward question.

Are you mad I kissed you in front of Ms. Carmichael?

Kelsey Neely: Cheek kisses are allowed.

I sighed in relief. I couldn’t help myself.
