"Jack, what is the meaning of this?" she asked.
"Well can't you read the title? Never knew omegas were this stupid," He said quietly in the end, but Brianna could still hear him.
"Yes, I've read that, but what do you mean by 'how to be a good maid to the Burkley family?' she asked, pointing to the title on the cover.
"Of course the goal is to teach you to be a good maid here." Jack replied coldly and began to emit a domineering Alpha aura, which was completely different from the friendly aura he had just given off.
This aura really reminded her of her parents and her rapist.
"Listen, Brianna Jones," he said quietly, but in a threatening tone.
"I've been kind enough to let you stay here. Do you think I would allow a lowly Omega into my house without giving anything in return?" Jack asked with a crooked smile.
Brianna's breath stopped after hearing him.
The Omega couldn't believe that Jack was such a person.
And also, how did he know that Brianna was an Omega? The only people who knew that she was an Omega were her parents and Celicia.
Did Celicia tell him?
"Okay, that's all I have to say. And since I'm in a good mood, I'll let you rest for today. You can start work tomorrow; oh, and one more thing. Beginning tomorrow, you will sleep in the basement; this room is too nice for a cheap Omega like you."
After that, the bedroom door was closed, and Brianna immediately buried her face in the bed. She didn't know what to do... To be honest, Jack's words really hurt her, but she realized she had nowhere else to go.
With a heavy sigh, she decided to accept the situation.
After all, this was the best choice for now; she didn't want to trouble anyone.
Plus, she should be happy if Jack asks her to be his maid; she doesn’t need to feel indebted to him afterward.
"It's okay, my child; we will survive. We will stay here until I'm strong enough to support both of us." the Omega said while stroking her stomach gently
.
Jack's behavior was really bad toward Brianna.
After waking up the Omega by pouring cold water on her, he ordered her to do a lot of housework, starting with cleaning all corners of the house, which is as big as a mansion, sweeping the front yard of the house, and... still much more.
And now here she is, in the kitchen, trying to cook, although Brianna has had zero experience with it.
"Ugh… Did I cook this soup right? Why does it taste this way... and why is it so green?" the Omega thought, confused, as she went back to reading the recipe on G****e.
"Hey, are you done yet?! It's already 8.30; usually I would have eaten by 8 o'clock!" Jack shouted, making Brianna panic even more.
"Aish... whatever, I better serve it first," the Omega thought as she started spooning the soup into a bowl and carrying it to the dining room.
.
Jack had been in the dining room since the Omega was cooking.
To be honest, it was the first time he had breakfast at his house. Usually, the Alpha only eats at his cafe.
But somehow he really wanted to ask the Omega to cook breakfast for him.
"Tsk, how come it's taking so long to cook? She's been thrashing around in the kitchen for an hour. Why isn't she finished yet?" Jack thought as he debated himself whether to shout at the Omega again or not.
Not long after, Brianna came in front of him carrying a bowl of food that looked like... soup?
"Here's the soup; sorry to make you wait so long," said the Omega while placing the soup in front of him.
“Hm, it doesn't look that bad... to be honest, it kind of makes me hungry; maybe I should consider hiring her to work at my cafe," thought Jack as he spooned the soup into his mouth.
The Alpha widened his eyes after tasting the soup and started coughing, causing the Omega in front of him to panic and quickly fetch him some water, which he automatically drank.
"Are you okay?" Brianna worked up the courage to ask, but Jack said nothing.
When the Omega was about to ask again, Jack suddenly stood up from his chair and walked towards her.
"What did you put in my food? Are you planning to poison me?" he snapped, gripping her jaw tightly, causing the Omega to look up.
"I—I didn't put any poison in it, I just-AKH!" Brianna's words stopped when Jack suddenly pushed her violently against the wall and started choking her, making it hard for her to breathe.
"I-I'm sorry! This is my first time cooking, and I've been trying to learn the recipe through the internet... I've even tasted the soup, and it's the best taste I can make." she explained with difficulty, her neck hurts so much!
After hearing her words, Jack removed his hands from Brianna's neck, causing the Omega to immediately slump down and cough madly.
The Omega thought her torment was over when Jack left her, but it turned out he came back and was holding her soup.
"Best taste, hm? Well, I can show you what good tastes are like," he said, taking a swing to throw the soup at her.
As he was about to throw the soup, his cell phone suddenly rang, making Jack click his tongue.
"Tsk, you got lucky this time, but next time don't you dare repeat your mistake!" said Jack as he dropped the soup right beside Brianna, causing it to splash all over her body..
"Don't forget to clean up this trash; I don't want my clean house to get dirty because of the trash you made!"
After that, Jack stepped out, leaving her alone.
Brianna started sobbing when Jack was already out of sight.
She knew that her food didn't taste that good, but does he have to act like a jerk towards her? The Omega began to doubt her choice.
Did she make the wrong decision by accepting the Alpha's offer to stay with him? Should she call Celicia to pick her up?
But the thing is, she doesn't want to bother her cousin; that's the main reason why Brianna accepted his offer.
The Omega sat for a long time before finally standing up and starting to clean up the mess in the dining room.
Now Jack is on his way to the Mystique cafe, the cafe that he built from scratch.Today was supposed to be Jack's day off.But sadly, it didn't happen because his father told him to go on a blind date with an Omega, which Jack was not really interested in doing. He already tried to refuse, but his father kept insisting because he wanted Jack to have children. When Jack arrived, he was greeted by several employees, and as usual, the alpha just ignored them."Hey, where is that thing?" he asked flatly to one of his employees, who was busy serving customers.Daniel, who realized his presence, immediately signaled to one of the employees there to replace him."Hey, don't talk like that, especially in front of customers; what if one of them gets offended?" he said while glaring at Jack."But I said the truth, an Omega is just a thing that specializes in making children. Anyway, stop this unnecessary argument and tell me where she is." Jack repeated his question again."She's in the VIP roo
The sound of a slap filled the room. Brianna just slapped the Alpha, which made him stop what he was doing. After a moment of silence, Brianna realized what she had done and immediately regretted it. "Jack... I'm sorry.. a-akhh!" "How dare a lowly Omega like you slap me?; you've really crossed the line, you b*tch!" the Alpha shouted while slapping her cheek back, making those lips bleed again. His anger grew even more when he saw the Omega crying. "Listen, Omega," he said in a dangerous tone while gripping her jaw more roughly than before. "You are nothing but trash in my house; remember that! If you still want to stay here, don't you dare fight me. If not, You better get out and sell your body like the cheap Omega you are." After that, Jack removed his hand from Brianna's jaw disdainfully and stepped out. Brianna could only cry when she was alone; for some reason, the Alpha's words really hurt her. "Why does everyone blame me for being born as an Omega? I never asked to be bo
Jack left the Mystique cafe with Daniel after their conversation. As they stepped outside, the cool evening breeze swept through the city as if carrying a promise of a quiet night ahead. As they finally arrive in front of Jack's car, Daniel, the smaller Alpha, turned his head and said, "You know Jack, you really should consider your employees a break, a day off can do wonders for their productivity when they return. Besides, it might also be good for you considering that you rarely have a holiday. Its' a good way to boost your morale too." Jack nodded thoughtfully. "You might be right, Daniel. Tomorrow, I will try to talk to the team and discuss about it. I think I might start the company holiday next week since we still have so many things to chase remembering today's chaos," Jack said, pausing before continuing. "Anyway, Daniel... I know that I rarely say this but, I just want to thank you for your advice. You always have a way of making me see things differently, and I, really
Morning at Burkley’s Mansion… [Breaking news, the heir of the candidate department was under hiatus for an unknown reason, and no—] SCRUB! SCRUB! "What was I thinking saying all of that to him?" Brianna mused while mopping the floor. "I shouldn't have let my anger get the best of me, what if he gets angrier? I'm not in the good position to be kick out yet!" The Omega thought, frowning as she remembered the yesterday's event. It would be troublesome if Brianna got fired, remembering her current condition. "But, this whole thing wouldn't happen if he wasn't rude. Like, I know that my pregnancy was shocking but calling me cheap? How come he accuses me of being cheap when he barely knows me? Ugh, now I am starting to regret having a crush on him back then. How come I fall for a jerk like him? I'm glad that I never asked him out. Only Goddess knows what will happen to me if I do that," Brianna mused, before carrying the basin to another room. As much as she despises her situation, B
Alpha is one of the highest-ranking statuses in the werewolf world, while Omega holds the lowest position. Alphas are akin to masters, while Omegas are considered little more than slaves in this world. In such a realm, the concept of fairness is an elusive dream because, regardless of their actions, Omegas will never attain the status of Alphas, and their fate is forever bound to serve. Even if they become the Alpha's Luna. *** Brianna is now sniffing the entire room, to prove her suspicions and it was true. The stench was unmistakably the scent of a cursed werewolf! "A cursed werewolf..." Brianna mused as she contemplated the scent. "How come the scent occurs here, is someone cursed in here?" Brianna began to wonder whether the scent might have been brought in by the half-day helper, as they are usually responsible for cleaning the Alpha's area, including his other personal rooms for only Goddess knows what his reason is. But then The Omega dismissed that idea as the scent
At. St. Ladreus Hospital... TAP... TAP... TAP... "Psstt!! Hey, look over there! Isn't he a Burkley?" "Yes, you were right! He's indeed a Burkley! Oh my... He's really big, and tall, and looks strong in here!" "I usually only saw him on TV during the business talk but seeing him in real life? He was a thousand times better, and even looks like Edard Collen! I wonder if he already had a mate remembering that he's the only Burkley's hei--" As the whispers and hushed conversations continued, meanwhile, Jack who was the subject of the topic just walked nonchalantly. The Alpha was seemingly impervious to their attention as he was well aware of how commanding his presence was as both a Burkley and as the most outstanding Alpha in the business world. "Neither here nor outside.. Why does everyone always seem so busy talking about me? Is their life so dull that they need to talk about others?" Jack mused as he walked passed them. Sometimes, his brows furrowed when hearing the persistent
“Thank you for shopping here. Have a good day!” “I will, thanks!” CLING! Brianna stepped out of another grocery store with a big smile plastered on her face. Her hands were full of groceries. “Shopping the cleaning supplies done, grooming products and stationery also done, and now let’s see… What do I miss,” Brianna mused as she walked to a nearby park bench. She put down the groceries and reached for her phone to check her grocery list. Almost everything was marked checked, except the hair gel, as the stock had run out and would be refilled next week, which wasn’t a problem as it gave Brianna another chance to go out for groceries. “Well, I guess I already obtained everything. It’s time for me to go home then. The helper must have waited for me as her shift almost ended,” Brianna mused, remembering that the helper only worked for half a day which meant she must go home by noon. On her way home, Brianna slightly smiles as she looks at her groceries. Besides buying the shopp
The entire audience now fell into deep silence as they watched the ballet performance. They couldn't help but be captivated by the masked ballerina's performance, who was now playing as Odette. All their previous hushed conversation that was once full of doubt and disdain was replaced by awe as they saw how beautiful her dance was. “Wow… Look at that ballerina…" one audience whispered, not taking his eyes off the ballerina. "Her dance… It was truly captivating. I never saw a performance like this before. It's... beautiful... Like a real swan...” “I agree!” replied another audience with admiration. “At first, I was kinda doubt that this performance would be good as Nina Smith couldn’t come. But now after witnessing how the substitute ballerina danced, all my doubt was gone, and I'm glad that Nina couldn’t come! I mean, Nina's dance is nothing compared to this masterpiece, and it was way more professional. Even world class if I can say!” “Hah... It’s such a shame that the balle
Jack's father took a deep, shuddering breath, his tear-streaked face a stark contrast to the composed facade he usually wore. "It all started when I first met your mother," he began, his voice thick with emotion. "She was... she was perfect. The perfect mate, the perfect fate. I knew from the moment I laid eyes on her that she was the one I wanted to spend the rest of my life with."Jack clenched his jaw, trying to push down the surge of emotion threatening to overwhelm him. "To the point, Father," he interjected, his voice steely with determination. "I don't need the sentimental details."His father nodded, wiping away his tears with a shaky hand. "Of course, Jack," he said, his voice more composed now. "After we were married, we were happy. Happier than I had ever been before. And when you came along, it was like... it was like all of my dreams had come true."Jack's heart clenched at the mention of his mother, a pang of longing shooting through him like a bolt of lightning. But he
Jack's hands tightened around the steering wheel as he approached the imposing gates of the Burkley household. It had been months since he had last set foot on the grounds, months since he had introduced Brianna to his family. And now, as he stared up at the sprawling mansion before him, he couldn't help but feel a sense of dread creeping over him.Parking his car in a secluded spot near the edge of the property, Jack took a moment to compose himself. He knew that confronting his father would not be easy, that it would dredge up painful memories and long-buried emotions. But he also knew that he couldn't continue living in the dark, that he needed answers—no matter how difficult they might be to hear.As he made his way towards the front door, Jack was greeted by the sight of an old servant waiting to receive him. The man's eyes widened in surprise at Jack's cold demeanor, clearly taken aback by the intensity of his anger."Master Jack," the servant stammered, bowing slightly. "I... I
As Brianna lay in her hospital bed, the events of the past few days weighed heavily on her mind. She tried to sleep, to escape from the turmoil that churned inside her, but sleep eluded her. Instead, she tossed and turned, her thoughts consumed by the darkness that threatened to engulf her.She couldn't shake the memory of Michael's taunts, his cruel laughter echoing in her ears. The realization that he had orchestrated the entire ordeal, that he had manipulated her into believing his lies, filled her with a sense of betrayal so profound it was almost suffocating. How could she have been so blind, so naive? And then, there was the truth—the truth about Jack's involvement, about the choices he had made that had led them to this point. It was a truth she wasn't sure she could bear, a truth that shattered the fragile illusion of love and trust she had built around him.A single tear slipped down her cheek as she lay in the darkness, her heart heavy with sorrow. She had wanted so desperat
The lighthouse door swung open, and there he was—Jack, her beacon of hope in the darkness. His voice carried a mixture of fear and relief as he called out to her, his presence flooding her with a sense of comfort she hadn't realized she'd been craving. But before Brianna could fully process Jack's arrival, Michael's sneer cut through the air like a knife. He tightened his grip on her arm, his voice dripping with contempt as he addressed Jack."So now Romeo is finally here, huh?" Michael scoffed, his eyes glittering with malice. "Well, that's classic. Never knew it would happen in real life too. And I never knew that I would be the villain. I always used to wish to be a Romeo."Jack huffed heavily, his chest heaving as he took in the scene before him. He had rushed up the stairs in a blur of desperation, fueled by the need to reach Brianna, to ensure her safety. Now, as he regained his composure, he stepped forward, his gaze fixed on Michael."Let go of her, Michael," Jack demanded, hi
As Jack stood outside, frustration gnawing at him, he heard the door open behind him. Turning, he saw Daniel emerging from the room, accompanied by Nina and a few others. Jack's brow furrowed in anticipation as he waited for Daniel to speak.Daniel approached Jack with a solemn expression, his gaze meeting Jack's with a sense of urgency. "Jack, we've made some progress," he began, his voice steady but grave. "Nina has confirmed that Sam and Michael have been seeking each other out a lot lately."Jack's frustration only deepened at the confirmation of his suspicions. "And what else did she say?" he pressed, his voice tight with tension.Daniel hesitated for a moment before continuing. "Nina didn't know the motive behind their meetings, but I believe it's clear that Sam was involved in this to elevate Nina's career by assisting Michael," he explained, his tone laced with conviction. "The timing of Brianna's disappearance and Nina's sudden rise to prominence is too much of a coincidence.
As Brianna sat sandwiched between Michael and Sam in the jeep, her heart pounded with fear and anger. She couldn't believe that Sam, the man who had been a fatherly figure to her, was involved in this betrayal. She shot him a glare, her eyes filled with accusation and disbelief."What are you doing here, Sam?" she demanded, her voice laced with anger. "And why are you doing this to me?"Sam lowered his head, unable to meet Brianna's gaze. The weight of his betrayal hung heavily upon him, his heart heavy with regret. But before he could respond, Michael's chilling voice cut through the tense silence."Sam is here because he knows where his loyalties lie," Michael replied, his tone cold and unforgiving. "And you, Brianna, are simply collateral in our plans."Brianna's eyes widened in shock at Michael's callous words. She couldn't believe that he saw her as nothing more than a pawn in his twisted game. Anger bubbled within her, but she suppressed it, knowing that any outward defiance wou
Jack stood amidst the chaos, his frustration mounting as he surveyed the scene before him. The police officers worked diligently, examining every inch of the room for clues to unravel the mystery of the Fosters' escape. His eyes fixated on the gaping hole in the wall, a knot forming in his stomach as he tried to comprehend how the Fosters had managed to pull off such a daring escape."How in the hell did they–" Jack began, his voice trailing off as he struggled to find the words to articulate his frustration.DRAP! DRAP! DRAP!"We found one of the Foster bodies! It lies not far from the ruins!"The news only served to deepen Jack's frustration as he watched the officers work tirelessly to retrieve the fallen body. His gaze shifted to an object lying nearby, the very object that had been used to explode the wall. Jack scowled as he studied it, unable to fathom how the Fosters had acquired such a device, let alone how they had managed to keep it hidden from prying eyes."Why didn't we k
Jack's fury erupted like a tempest within the interrogation room, his rage boiling over at the sight of Derek Foster, the man who had caused so much pain and suffering. With a primal roar of anger, Jack slammed his fist against the table, the force of his blow sending a resounding crack reverberating through the room. "How could you?" Jack seethed, his voice filled with a potent mixture of disbelief and contempt. "How could you do that to her?" Derek recoiled in terror, his eyes wide with fear as he cowered against the bed. "I-I didn't mean to—" he stammered, his voice trembling with fear. But Jack's rage was unrelenting, his eyes burning with a fierce intensity as he advanced on Derek, his every step echoing like thunder in the cramped confines of the room. "You didn't mean to?" he spat, his voice dripping with scorn. "You raped her, Derek. You violated her trust, her body, her very soul. And for what? To satisfy your own sick desires?" Sophia, Daniel, and the surrounding police o
As the car rumbled down the dimly lit streets, Daniel's focus was unwavering, his mind already anticipating the upcoming interrogation. Sophia sat beside him, her gaze drifting between the passing scenery and her companions, a faint furrow marring her brow.Sophia's voice broke the silence, her tone hesitant yet concerned. "Do you think it's wise to leave Brianna and Celicia alone?" she asked, her eyes flicking towards Jack in the rearview mirror. "Couldn't they come with us? Maybe they could wait in the reception area while we conduct the interrogation."Daniel glanced at Jack, waiting for his response, before turning back to Sophia. "It's too risky," he replied evenly, his tone serious. "We can't afford to compromise their safety, especially considering the volatile nature of our situation."Sophia nodded in understanding, though a flicker of worry danced in her eyes. "I suppose you're right," she conceded, her voice tinged with reluctance. "I just can't shake this feeling of unease
